Will 4.1.2 Loose Exynos Abuse Root? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm rooted using exynos abuse. Still stock, use root to remove unwanted apps and to install some root apps like titanium backup.
I haven't received the 4.1.2 update yet, but when loose root? If so what is the recommended way to update but stay stock.

You have rooted device so likely you won't get OTA updates
Possibilites to update
1.Unroot and update with OTA/Kies - If your updated ROM(very likely) contain new bootloader, then exynose abuse won't work
2.Download full ROM and flash with Mobile Odin - iy will keep root intact as well you can still use exynose abuse, but your device won't get new bootloader and still you need to protect your device with exynose exploit.
3.Update with Odin, you will lose root still you can use method1 from this post to root device.

your device will remain stock but just rooted, you can reset counter with Triangle away.

Sorry to hijack. but can I do FACTORY RESET after apply exynosabuse and root it. There are ants in my pants biting my butt telling me to do factory reset. and root again for clean and need only software. Im using n7100 btw

You have Root with exynose abuse
you want factory reset, OK go for it.
but why re root?

ExynosAbuse uninstall
Dear Dr Ketan and other Team member,
Pls advice, I have installed ExynosAbuse to root my Samsung Note I (GT N7000). My device is rooted now can i uninstall the ExynosAbuse. After uninstallation, shall my device still remain rooted or will it be again non rooted after uninstallation. Pls reply for invisible root.
Thanks

samsung galaxy s3 sgh-t999v mobilicity shows up as Modified

Hi, I recently got a galaxy s3 (canadian version) 2 weeks ago from Mobilicity and just recently rooted following this method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687. Before doing the rooting I was on the JB 4.1.1 update they released recently. Also used this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34661189&postcount=1 to unlock the phone
I would check daily but today I just noticed my device's status was Modified and I am unable to check for updates. I'm not sure what caused the modified status. I checked in download mode and my count is still 0/No. I also checked Triangle Away and it was the same. My device was normal when I first installed and used the root, I can only remember I just updated a few apps yesterday. I tried flashing with odin the rooted system image and it's the same.
I would like to be able to use the stock rom with root and updates, and set my device to normal status (I'd rather not update through Odin every time there is an update, and I am very satisfied with the stock rom). I've already backed up my data using Titaniumbackup, all my contact info and music (the stuff I only care about). Help appreciated.
EDIT: I also have installed Openrecovery script using goomanager, could that be the issue?
Use TriangleAway from the Play Store to get rid of the modified status

The counter is 0, should I still try to reset it?
Edit: just used TriangleAway, device status still modified, I can access the software update now though, but it gets stuck while checking

You will not be able update via your carrier OAT if you rooted your device. The only thing you can do is to unroot the device, do the update, and re-root the device again. Visit www.galaxys3root.com on how to root and re-root.

If that is all you wanted just flashing the root66 rom from mrRobinson's threat in you original post could have accomplished it.
This would not trip the flash counter if it was still 0, what did it was installing a custom recovery like open recovery.
Follow this steps to get to a 4.1.1 "unmodified" or normal stock system with only root injected to it. You will be able to check and receive OTA updates, but if you ever update your rom OTA you will loose root.
1-download root66 jellybean rom for mobilicity from mrRobinson's thread, there are instructions there how to flash it with desktop Odin. (this will keep everything in your rom and will give you the stock recovery back, so the counter does not trip again)
2-download, install and run triangle away from chainfire's thread this will reset the counter to 0. Search for it.
Now your counter is 0 again, nothing is tripping it, room is rooted but it will still say "modified" and OTA updates may still not work, to fix it you need a clean start. Do a system factory reset, start over fresh and life will be beautiful.

Best option for stock root

What is the best method of rooting the Note 2 without affecting my warranty and OTA updates? I'm not particularly interested in custom roms and just want the stock to be rooted. Thank you!

CF-Auto Root

If you ever need to send the device in for warranty, all you have to do is use triangle away by Chainfire to reset the device flash count, unroot and factory reset.
I used the Exynos Abuse apk to root my Note 2. IT was super quick and easy. I didn't have to flash anything so I don't have to deal with TriangleAway. And it's easy to unroot if I need to in the future.
Thank you! For the APK one I was confused because it says if you patch the exploit it says your phone is modified or something right?
Don't patch the exploit - it'll bork your camera. But of course if you don't patch the exploit you are vulnerable if a malicious app gets to your root. So that's an up to you deal. Even if you run the apk and do not patch the exploit, you'll still be modified. But if you need to get back to official status, just unroot through SuperSU. It's really simple.

[Q] GT-N7100 rooted on Android 4.3 Knox 0x1 can't update OTA

Hi
I am using Samsung Galaxy Note II GT-N7100
I did a mistake by not doing more research before rooting my phone and now my Knox flag is 0x1.
I upgraded my phone to Android 4.3 then rooted it with Chainfire autoroot using Odin.
Now I am not able to remove KNOX bootloader also if I try to flash a KNOX free bootloader Odin show unsupported device error and device gets soft brick then I have to flash Chainfire autoroot again to start the device again.
Is there any way to get KNOX free bootloader? or to be with Knox bootloader but everything fine like it was before.
Disadvantages are
I can't use Knox feature now.
Cannot update my device OTA or through Samsung Kies so downloading form Sammobile and flashing takes a lot of time.
I don't have any other problem I am running on stock rom 4.3 but I want that I should able to update my mobile OTA and if possible able to use KNOX feature again.
Thank you
Have a nice day

So far, this issue of 0x1 back to 0x0 is still fly high in the air. I read a lot of thread regarding this issue, until I myself also a bit headache
But, from my understanding after reading so many thread... Once it tripped, there's no way to return back. And you can't (theoritically) to revert back to 4.1.2 bootloader, but perhaps, there's a way. And yes, once it tripped, you can't use any KNOX features.
I still have no better conclusion as well regarding this issue. I got read 1 time somebody is able to revert back to 4.1.2, but still with KNOX 0x1. Most are failed. You may want to read all the thread regarding this issue with a search.
I'm here not to answer exactly on how to revert back. But just to share what I know regarding this tripping issue. To be frank... I also want to know about this, as I need to root my MJ7 Note 3, which so far... no solution yet for the tripping KNOX, so I still hold on to it.
YOu can root if you have not trip 0x1 without tripping it.

I also want to know about this said:
I found a way today on the internet that If Note 2 is at 0x0 flag you can root it without increasing the count but it will show custom that you can revert back to original by triangle away may be there is a way for Note 3 too.
I have already rooted so problem starts here

I used triangle away also this is my device status in Downloading mode.
Custom binary download No
Current Binary Samsung Official
System Status Offcial
Knox Warranty Void 1
but in Software update you device is modified. May it is showing you because you have already the latest update. Please can you tell me the Device status in Downloading mode also please report back if you are able or not to download update OTA when available.
Thank you.
Same boat
My phone is in the same boat as you. My desire was not so much KNOX as to have 4.3 with phone encryption and root. In order to succeed with my desire, I have to leave the stock 4.3 recovery intact. This greatly reduces my root options. I had root before the update, but it was unable to update after going to 4.3. I tried Kingo in an attempt to fix root, but to no avail. I decided to unroot and re-root. I used Kingo to unroot. From there I had to run saferoot a few times before it was finally able to install SuperSU and associated files. The version it installed is the latest so I'll have to wait until the next release to find out if it can update. Everything else seems to work fine except ES File Explorer appears to no longer be able to mount the /system RW.
saferoot can be found over here

Hope that helps,

questions about knox

So i have some questions about knox. I'm new to it and sadly had the 4.3 bootloader thrust upon me.
1. Is there a way to remove it/return to a different bootloader? Not just hide it like Billards thing does
2. One way I restore my phone if it freaks out is to run a 1 click stock rooted ljc program. I was reading in a Verizon forum flashing a stock version will brick my phone does this apply for sprint? They said mk3 not mk4
3.if I no longer can use that and need to fix say a soft Brick with no recovery what should I use/do
4. What are the main things i need to be aware or with knox?
I've been reading around and all I'm finding is its security. I know that it's bootloader related but every time I odin a tar file I didn't know that affected a the bootloader. This knox cap has me not even wanting to touch my phone.
Any help would be appreciated and you will get your thanks
Anyone?
I thought all this to but I took the plunge to root and did so with kingo root it went flawless and upon boring l booting just open super su and it will ask you if you want to disable knox just click Yea and you're done and to flash roms flash philz touch recovery with odin and make sure to make a backup is stock and flash away

New G6 - Few basic questions -root, nandroid, twrp?

I am getting the G6 and want to keep the warranty intact.
I know about the ping pong root and knox.
Heard if you install custom recovery (TWRP) - trips knox warranty void.
I would like to root and install my current apps using titanium BU- this i believe can be done with root only by just transferring the backups to the new phone correct?
Can i make a nandroid backup with stock recovery?
Also to apply OTA updates from sprint or samsung the phone will need to be unrooted yes?
Only way to unroot is to odin to stock correct?
TIA

looking forward to joining the S6 nation!

You have everything correct. Just understand that if you update with ota to 5.11, you will only be able to Odin to 5.11..... not to 5.02. Currently all kernels are tripping knox on 5.11. You will have to root and twrp 5.02 and get a custom rom with new updates as samsung releases it to preserve knox. So hope to God you received an s6 with 5.02 cuz otherwize you will have to trip knox as of this writing for 5.11 to obtain root. Once your trip and even if you go back to stock..... you will still be tripped and lose warranty. .... until someone figures it out. Currently only thing you lose is samsung pay.
