Hi Everyone,
I would just like to share with you what happened to my phone Galaxy W GT-I8150 (stock rom/rooted).
I was experimenting with Swapper2 app from the Playstore, installed it and enabled the option to use the physical swap partition. My intention was to use the swap partition in my external_sdcard. However, when I rebooted the phone it never came back. No recovery, no download mode, Odin could not detect it, in short it was a HARD BRICK my friend! Totally unusable.
I didn't really know what happened, but after some research I learned that the app might have wiped the wrong partition, the bootloader partition!
So guys, if you are rooted, be very careful with this app or any app that touches your system in the partition level.
Now I'm still on the process of reviving my phone, if anyone has any idea how please post here or pm me.
I'm following a thread just in case you're interested, this guy darkspr1te found a way to resurrect a hard bricked Galaxy Note.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914359
Thank you.
EDIT:
Thanks Mod for stucking this. Just to give an update. I managed to recover my phone a week after it was bricked.
I happen to have a friend who is a cellphone technician. He used a BOX (same as Jtag) to reinstall the original SGW bootloader and OS.
You will be needing a JTAG/Jig equipment, that will trigger the Qualcomm chipset within to enter JTAG mode.
Afterwards... I'm not sure...
But I wish you good luck in reviving your Ancora...

I done the same things as you, but I send my Galaxy W to Samsung and I got a new Mainboard.
Sadly I needed to install all my apps again, but it's now working again!

I said i wanted to turn on my phone but it didn't started and i didn't see the samsung splash screen.
they said i should send them my phone.
after two weeks they said they repair my phone as a warranty case.
then i got my phone with a new motherboard.
i know that they wouldn't find anything because the partitions on my phone were broken so it couldn't boot up.
hopefully i could help you.
Hey.,,, I'd like to swap my memory card, is there any chance in CM10 for that? since this thread says that swapping is literally Dangerous, so... can anyone tell me the saver one?

You misunderstand.
This thread is about creating a 'swap memory', not about swapping SD Cards.
Specifically, this thread is about creating a 'swap memory' using an app called Swapper2, which has been proven to be *fatally incompatible* with the W.
There are more than one way to swap SD Cards in CM10; IIRC someone shared a flashable method in the Dev subforum.

Perhaps a solution!
User Daskspr1te from XDA AT&T Galaxy Note forum has devised a way to repair the hardbricked Sammy SVH-E160L. His method and his developed software can also repair other phones and most likely also the model i8150. It is necessary that an user with a i8150 running, with the help of Daskspr1te's tool, extract certain files from his phone necessary to repair the hardbricked i8150 phone (mainly the bootloader and so on). If the bricked i8150 can be seen by a pc thru an usb port (as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008) I think we can repair it, what we need are some files extracted from a running i8150 and some luck!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136738
If this system will work for our i8150 will be an extremely useful resource for us!

I've temporarily stuck this thread to hopefully prevent others from being bricked. After a little while it may be unstuck though. But hopefully not as many will be bricked. Good job warning!
To swap, I formatted a swap partition on external sdcard and mounted it with
Code:
swapon /dev/block/mmcblk1p3
Much easier and safer.

Guys, sorry to bother all of you. I just want to ask about my HARDBRICK Galaxy Wonder GT-I8150.
All this happen because I try to apply swap partition on my device, and hope it would give extra RAM. Used my 16Gb class 10 sdcard and give about 1Gb for linux swap partition using Minitool Partition, and then install "swapper2" to activated it just like tutorial. Test it with "terminal emulator" and nothing happen, seems my swap partition wont loaded or whatever. In swapper2 menu there is option like "apply on boot" and I choose it (hopefully it need to be restarted and apply on boot to make it work).
I turned off my phone, let it for a while........turn it on again and booyyaaahhh. Suddenly wont turn on, put it on wall charger and wont even charged..... I tried "3 button combos-one click unbrick for several times and nothing can help. Please if anyone could help me. Thanks Guys

Thank you for your reply.
I have my phone bricked. Swapper2 wiped my system partitions. I can't effort to buy jig or jtag here. They are expensive in Turkey.
With Quallcomm Product Support Tool required partitions can be reprogrammed.
There are some projects on this issue but for other phones.
We could do the same. But i dont know enough information. I just have a dead phone.
We can create a debricking tutorial for all i8150 users. In this approach no jig cable needed. Just plug your device to computer. With quallcomm hs driver it connects to com port. Quallcomm Support Tool and Odin detects your phone. You can reprogram required partitions with some knowledge and required files.
Solved.

OP EDIT: AS MANY OF YOU HAVE NOTICED, I HAVE MOVED ON TO A NEW DEVICE SINCE I POSTED THIS GUIDE. I CAN NO LONGER PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR SPRINT GS3 AS (1)I DO NOT HAVE THE DEVICE ANY LONGER AND (2)I HAVEN'T KEPT UP WITH DEVELOPMENT AND STOCK ROM RELEASES FOR THE GS3. SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENIENCE. THIS GUIDE CAN STILL BE OF HELP TO PEOPLE AS THE PROCESS HAS BEEN DRASTICALLY IMPROVED (LAST I SAW, YOU DIDN'T NEED A DUAL BOOT). PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SEARCH THIS THREAD FIRST BEFORE SENDING ME A PM ASKING FOR HELP. THANK YOU!
Okay. So I hard bricked (yes, I know a noob mistake... we all slip up some times ) my S3 by flashing an Illusion ROM for the i9300. My device was totally unresponsive. No boot screen, no dl mode, no recovery... nothing. This is a total unbrick for those of you who have done the same as I did. There is already a thread on this by gTan64 but it seemed a little vague and it took me awhile to figure it out. So here is my version.
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT GUARANTEE THIS TO WORK. DO NOT COME TO ME IF YOUR PHONE EXPLODES OR SOME HOW GOES INTO A WORSE STATE THAN A HARD BRICK (If that's even possible)

What you will need:
A 16GB SD (preferably a Class 10)
A hard bricked S3
A USB cord
A Linux/Windows dual boot computer (Or go use a Linux Live CD)
Stock tar for ODIN
This was all done on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and you will need to be familiar with Terminal and its processes.
You will need this file (thanks to billard412 for pointing this out to me and gTan64 for the DL link ) [gTan64's thread ]
http://www.mediafire.com/download/231uhy6l80jx74n/debrick_sph_l710.img.xz
Okay. Let's Begin.
Assuming that you are already on a Linux machine, here's what you need to do.
1. Make sure you have no external USB/HDDs attached to your machine. Insert your SD card to a reader. You will need to identify the letter of the SD card. You can do that by opening up Terminal and enter the following
>>>Sudo su
(Enter your password here)
>>>dmesg | tail
Click to collapse
You only need to use the part that says "sd[your card letter]". That is the your SD card's letter. DO NOT USE THE ONE THAT HAS THE NUMBER. For example: sdc1 <<< That is a partition of the SD card, not the actual root of the SD card itself. If you use the wrong letter, YOU COULD WIPE YOUR HARD DRIVE.
Or go use GParted (Just look for it in the Applications drawer in Ubuntu) for an easier method.
2. Unzip the s3 unbrick file on to your desktop. Now go back to the Terminal. You should still have root privileges so there is no need to enter "Sudo Su" again. Enter the following.
WARNING: THIS WILL ERASE THE ENTIRE SD CARD.
>>>dd if=[drag the unzipped unbrick img onto the terminal] of=/dev/sd[your card letter]
Click to collapse
This should write the img file to the SD.
3. After it's done writing the img, take out your SD card and put it into your phone. With the battery in the phone, insert the SD card, plug the phone into your machine, and try to boot to DL mode via the usual method. This WILL take several tries and possibly rewriting the img file to SD card again to work.
4. If you were lucky enough to boot to DL mode, boot back to Windows and then I suggest you go and download a stock MD4 (as of 18July2013) tar file and ODIN yourself back to stock and go on from there. Btw, if you don't ODIN back to stock, your phone WILL STILL BE BRICKED. This is because the phone is using the SD card to boot to DL mode.
I suggest that you keep that SD card as your "OH SH*T, I HBRICKED" rescue card.
If you were successful, don't forget to hit up that thanks button and buy me a cheap coffee!

Question
Question OP, when you bricked, did phone respond at all?
Only output I get is when I plug phone in to charger without battery. Red LED
Other then that, no response. No buttons respond at all.
I created SD as stated. Verified image created on SD. Inserted SD into phone, installed battery.
I get no response when trying to power on, enter DL mode.
Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

I believe this can be done with cygwin too
Hi fellows S4 mini owners and the Android developers,
I just bought S4 Mini GT-I9195 LTE as present for my daughter and it came with the latest firmware XXUBMJ7 and with KNOX and I rooted it following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980 and everything went well.
So, I got rooted S4 mini with CWM Recovery on stock kernel and in Knox everything was changed to Custom and Knox was showing 0x1.
I have partitioned 16 Gb SDHC class 10 micro card with MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional Edition with next partitions:
First partition: 12 Gb FAT32 (unchanged) Primary
Second partition: 2 GB Ext4 Primary
Third partition: 512 mb Swap Primary
I have installed Link2SD to try if it should work with second Ext4 partition and it wiould work for the moment and it would link all removable apps to the second partition but with next boot it would get all force closed (FC's) messages about this moved apps.
I did a factory reset from CWM Recovery and I tried all again but now I changed in Link2SD options to link apps but without automatic linking apps to second partition and it seemed to work and It only moved one part of installed apps to second partition with no more FC's after the reboot.
Now after that I wanted to get SWAP partition working and I have installed "Swapper2 for root" and I have choose in options to use Swap partition and it took third partition mmcbklp03 as Swap partition (and I think that here went wrong but I'm not sure) and I remember that there was option in Swapper2 to always format SWAP partition on the boot.and it was chacked.
I have swiched on Swapper2 and at first instance it faild to find SWAP partition, then I tried once again and it succeed to swich on swap, to format swap partition and to make swap.
I have restarted a phone several times after installing few other applications and it all went good. After few hours of installing of the new apps and testing them the battery draind out to one percent (1%) and I just wanted to leave it to charge with phone swiched off, because it's better for the battery. I didnt use the original Samsung charger but I have used USB 3.0 on my laptop and what I have noticed that it took to long to charge more then six hours to charge it to 100%. The next time when I tried to swich on the phone it was impossible. It wouldn't go to any mode, just black screen but if it is connected to the PC it gives a sound that there is a divece on that USB port.
With or without battery it just give a sound that it means that PC can see "something" but if I try with Odin it doesn't show at all on any com to be seen.
I took the phone to the friend of mine (he is a phone reseller and he has many different software to revive a lot of different phones and only Riff Box can see my phone on "com 163" ) but I didn't want to soldier it and to flash it because I still have the warrenty as the phone is only few weeks old.
My question is: What could be a reason of the hard brick ?
Was it Swapper2, maybe, because it has formated the wrong partition ? Or something else ?
And should I use the swap partition at all, next time, knowing that this phone has 1.5 Gb of working RAM ?
What is your expiriance and conclusions ?
Edit: I just plugged the phone on the other laptop with Windows 7 and it showed to install new drivers. As first it could not recognize a device, after that it has installed HID drivers and at least it didn't succeed to install QHSUSB_DLOAD drivers.
Any idea ?
Thanks in advance !

Hi to all !!!
The phone is back from the repair service and it's "fixed", acctually they changed the whole motherboard and they didn't want even to examine what the problem was, what I think is a bit sad.
It was probably just the few partitions that were messed up and they just could reflash it with a JTAG or thier other advanced hardware, but it was "easyer" to just swich a motherboard and now I get again new 4.2.2 with KNOX loader and december update...
So here we go again, I will root it again but I we'll avoid this time Swapper2, or if somone know's the right adress from where bigins the swap partition if I use 32 Gb SD micro partitioned to 26 Gb FAT 32 and 4 Gb Ext4 and 512 mb swap. Which mmcblk will be swap then ?
Or should I even use swap partition with S4 mini if we know that 1.5 Gb RAM should be enough for 4.2.2 ?
Thanks in advance !
Greetings !
Hi ValenteL,
Sorry that I wasn't here for a long time but I was busy with my study and I see that you made the .img file but I already send it to repair center and if read my last post you can see what happened.
I'm really sorry that I didn't test it before I send it to them because they where brute as always and they even didn't look what was the problem.
I mean, it's good for me but it wasn't neccesery to waste a hardware which was good but is much quicker to replce it then to flash it again...
I hope that your file can help to someone else who has a same problem as I had.
I'll take your file for the future experiments, or can you explain how can I make my own .img file if I'm not rooted yet ?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz !
Is this .img file still available?

Is this .img file still available? The download link above no longer works. Actually, I'm not really sure it's what I need, but I'm willing to take a chance. I'm searching for a bin dump of mmcblk0 of an I9195T (Australian model), but at this point I'd take a I9195 on the outside chance it might work. Please see my original post in the troubleshooting area: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-mini/help/i9195t-dump-200mb-replaced-emmc-t2880434.

Hello, do you have a GT-I9195 4.4.2 PIT file that i could have to fix my phone. Thanks in advance
I need debrick.img for i9195 please.
Default [Q] Phone won't boot, enter Recovery Mode, nor connect to PC - what do?
I followed a root-guide a couple of weeks ago and my phone worked perfectly.
I have no memory of what ROM I used, nor do I remember if I flashed a Kernel or not. I'm pretty new at this.
Now, today, my phone sent a notification that a new firmware update was available. Stupid as I am I just press "install" right away. Not much later my phone tried to reboot and suddenly was stuck at the Samsung logo screen. I tried pulling out the battery to reboot and it still wouldn't work. If I connected it to my PC it shows a battery but the spinning arrow-thingy is frozen.
After searching these forums and other places I found several guides on how to fix stuff like this, by either flashing with a new kernel - or rom or w/e I don't know - or going into recovery mode and do something funky. The problem is that I can't reach recovery mode at all, and when I enter download mode it's just frozen at "Downloading..." and I can't get it to connect to my PC at all (tried both with and without Kies). In Odin the ID:COM cells won't update when I connect my phone.
Do you guys have any idea how to resolve this? Do I have to take it to a service centre?
Edit: The phone is out of battery, suddenly, apparently, so I tried to charge it, but that doesn't work either. What the **** has happened to my phone? Please help if you can!

I've got the same problem as the listed above. I did root my Phone (it's an Galaxy Trend) and then after i wanted to install an custom rom... It was the kitkat 4.1 or something? But then after when i was about to reboot my phone did not start at all. The samsung logo pops-up and it is an yellow triangle on the very bottom. And i've read so many forums and threads and tried various usb modes, adb recovery tools, recovery bootloader's and so on. But none of them does work. And i can't bring my phone to service either. And for a fact i did use Odin and it did work great when i rooted but what should i do? I can boot into download mode and use odin to "transfer" an new rom/zip file but since i can't boot into recovery mode so how can i ever start my phone? I could continue only if my phone would boot into recovery mode.. and i did wipe/reset factory data too before the phone wouldn't start if that's any help for you. And i have all backup for my phone on my pc, all my system data, sd memory, apps and all data i could backup. Please help me, thanks in forward!

well because galaxy ace 2 is the same phone and system as galaxy trend and to root trend you have to follow galaxy ace 2 guide to succed rooting trend. it is simply just the same phone and you dont find any solutions if you search the web for trend because it onlycome solutions for galaxy ace.
No its totally different in hardware. Ace 3 is more like trend but definitely not ace 2...

well please notice that it is Trend GT-S7650 and not Trend Duos or Trend Plus or something. well if im wrong i did root my trend successfully using the instructions on how to root galaxy ace 2 so how do you explain that? well anyway if i rooted it using galaxy ace 2 instructions, the solution (if there is) well probably be either of galaxy ace 2 or trend instructions? well i did just ask if anyone knows the answer and if you already did know that there is an big difference between these two phones you would the know how to continue?

If the phones are different, then you are risking a lot. Just because some method worked does not guarantee that all corresponding ones would. Do not complain if your phone gets bricked.

Apologies if it sounded sarcastic. It was more out of concern than out of sarcasm. I have seen newbies fumbling around and flashing files of vastly different phones and then lamenting their loss. Just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting into.
Anyways, I do not possess this phone so I can not help you further in this matter. But it would be prudent if you edited the main post to be more clear about your situation. :good:

Hello every one! so yesterday while doing nothing but leaving my phone on a markipilers youtube video, I see my screen go off I try to turn it back on and nothing happens. I tried power cycling and its still off, just not responding to anything, no sound no light no nothing. I tried then going to recovery mode but well... nothing happened. The only thing that actually makes any responses is when I connect it using a USB to my laptop, my laptop beeps, its not suposed to beep it is broken so is it bricked?
My device is a rooted Samsung galaxy s4 mini i19192 or so I hope it is.
I really hope that this is the right place to be redirected to assistant if not then Iam really sorry, thank you so much every one and have a fantastic day!
Edit: I forgot to mention two things.
1st: It does not seem to charge the battary, I kniw this because I have another identical one though the battary works fine in the working one
2nd: My PC reads it as (something?)_dload, Sadly I do not have acess to a computer just yet. Thanks again
Any help.. please?

probably QHSUSB_DLOAD, which is a hard brick, you might be able to fix with a debrick image
Sent from my Galaxy S4 Mini using XDA Labs
its in fact qshusb_dload but iam still a bit clueless on the reason or which method to solve. I read its because the cpu is trying to boot from the sd card and has something to do with something called emmac that is terrible in the s4 so I read three methods to solve
1- Just your method
2- Cooling the emmc?
and three, this
http://cellphonetrackers.org/qhsusb_dload-fix-qualcomm-soc.html
so Iam a bit distracted on what to even do or how to do it, any help would be apriciated plus any further notices about how to even avoid the problem
and thank you so much @IronRoo for your noticable contributions to these stuff!

Yes, the eMMC is prone to fail/corruption on our phones, at least I think. The eMMC is the internal SD memory. Hopefully yours is just corrupt.
The cooling trick is probably only good if there is a bad soldier joint on the chip and will probably only work a few minutes as the board will heat up once turned on
I would try the debrick file as that's probably the easiest. See also Valenti's post on other Samsung device, as better write up on one (Samsung Mega maybe?) as well as by the others who originally come up with the debrick idea to get a better idea of what to do.
I guess (without researching) the method in your link is the same principle as the debrick file but may work even if debrick doesn't work as not dependant on having a matching file from phone with same bootloader (???? I don't know as haven't looked into that method)
Also you can send phone away for jtag if nothing else works

Oh and how do you flash that thing to recovery, How do you pull that debrick file? is really confusing me
And please pardon me if my questions are spammy or annoying, There are a whole lot of steps through it and neither google nor the forum seem to be answering it so I might just consult you for that.
From what I understand, You flash the debrick file to the sd card using this 32 bit sd flasher thing and then it just works because the booting files are on the sd card but it will not boot without it. So how can you fix the corrupted boot loader AND how can I restore my sd card back to normal, I have seen a video for it but he is using ubuntu and command lines and stuff.

The original post by @ValenteL was a file to generate a debrick image, but you need a working phone to use that.
People with phones that are already bricked have to get a debrick file from someone else. This debrick image must be put onto an 16Gig (some report success with 32gig) SD card that is formatted (so you will lose everything else on it) and then the phone will boot with it instead of internal mmc to get your phone going (you have to keep the SD in) so you can then recover data and also hopefully flash a new rom later so you don't need to always boot from SD.

Yes, that was what I understood already but thank you anyway! My question was How? on both creating the debrick file and restoring both sd card (too make it work as a readable card rather than a booting device if it does not already) and fix the phones internal memory without actually reseting the whole phone and if there are no way else to fix internal memory... to back up the whole thing.
thank you!

I think the important thing is the bootloader (& pit must be the same) that if I recall was updated from the version you mention to ver 2. So you need a debrick with the ver 2 bootloader. (but I am not 100% sure about this, only read some stuff last year) My phone BL is ver 1
a guy on the below Mega thread with an I9195 did get a stop further by repeating multiple times
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2600976&page=4
But still didn't fix phone fully
read next few pages, one guy used freeze fix white partial success, might be useful if you want to get data off phone.
Also another link that may offer help
but probably your emmc is bad, is my guess
gotta go now, work calls

Thats great! good luck at your work, when you are back though I need to tell you this
I have another device of the exact same model that is kikkat not rooted (kitkat will have bootloader version 2 right?) if only I knew how to get the file out and then do all the stuff again, ill keep searching since you are at work now, will keep you updated. please help about it though if you can*
so if someone say for example has android 5 on an s4 mini, he will never get his phone back to work unless some one made a debrick file for it? if the previous statments were true?
My questions are:
Extract that file from the other phone, if I managed to answer it ill tell you.
To get my SD card back to work and fix my emmc
Iam not giving up on my emmc yet though, iam sure there is a way to solve it, if not then how to fix that failed emmc?
thanks again!
