Canadian Optimus G gets CM10.1 - Sprint LG Optimus G

Hmm... Could be good for us. But I don't know if we have any use with this.

They are able to run the mako 3.4 kernel with only slight modification, which is why they have been able to get this to work. Both Sprint and AT&T cannot yet, so its not really of any use to us yet.

Man I'm very jealous. Stuff like this makes me very eager for JB and associated kernel updates.

We got quite a few leaked ota updates. Flashed, pulled, deodexed, etc etc.
Last one was about 3 weeks ago.

I don't think any custom kernel works with LI8. Even ktoonsez.
As far as his goes though, I was under the impression that we just kind of lucked out when someone tried it and it worked. Pretty sure it was built for ATT.
Not 100% sure though.

No it just works with li6&7 I thought he wouldn't have been able to build those without kernel source though?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda premium
Dont know how he did it, just thst he built it for att, so maybe he has their source.
@op
Just fyi, I dont believe kernel source has ever been released for anything but UVALEM, the original build. UVALH2 was the official update but we never got the source released.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Huh. He is smart like that lol, thanks for the clarity. I believe you are correct with the only one with source drop was our base UVALEM or whatever it was.

Yeah I was pretty impressed by the guy too!
Wed still be using stock kernels for all other builds if not for him. And the guy who took a chance and flashed it the first time. I think it was flak0.

Wouldnt surprise me if that was him, he did all sorts of things for the G2X including getting started the LG camera ported to CM7 roms.

Korean firmware leaked. Works on our phone too.

Here is the Korean firmware. We can probably kang something useful. Don't attempt to flash. It isn't made for Sprint phones and you will turn your phone into a paper weight or an iPhone.
http://blog.seabow.pe.kr/?p=3149
If you flash the F180L version you can boot and use the phone. Your radios won't work though. You will still have WiFi. Any devs who feel generous might be able to port this.

I really miss it from my Galaxy Nexus, the UI is amazing. Of course with tweaks but hopefully this one gets it as well.

Maybe ZVB was the soak test and ZVA is the final rollout. I thought something was weird today when LG's source code link was down.
It could be like Microsoft where no matter the real build number, it is released as zva. Think windows 7. The final build number was 7600, but the real build would've been 73xx. Or on my epic, they made builds after the official ota, but released earlier ones. No way to know why. Probably some bug.

Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
It's a nice idea and all, but this will likely never happen. With a ton of work you MIGHT be able to get a proof of concept that merely boots, but has zero functionality. We would need proprietary LG drivers (as well as a way to either change them to run on the S3 or rewrite them from the ground up), frameworks and someone who knows both Samsung and LG code inside and out to even have an extremely small chance of this happening.

Just post name of ROM. People after a ROM has been posted just put that ROMs name in your post with a +1. I'll tally up and after a couple days and start building.

a working MIUI would be nice, but AOSP has to work properly first.
Quick question, why WOULDN'T AOSP work properly for us? I mean, being a member of XDA for quite sometime now and also familiarizing myself with various Android devices, I've come to notice that some OEM devices can run pure/true AOSP ROMs, but some others on different carriers cannot? I had an Samsung Epic 4G a few months ago before getting this phone, and asked the same question over there, but all I got was a vague answer at best. But other phones that's based on the same hardware but on different carriers can run true AOSP ROMs, like the Samsung Captivate on the AT&T network, versus the Epic 4G on Sprint. Anyone know why this is?
