Stock Sprint Optimus G. Updated to latest ZV9 firmware. Performance tweeks and new kernals are great and all, but the core functionality of the phone is still broken. The exchange email is inexcusable. A smartphone is designed as a personal assistant and organizer first before media or anything else.
The Bluetooth issue is embarrassing. I am using LG Tone+ 730's which shouldn't have any issue from the same manufacturer. My Jeep uses a base Uconnect 130s/RES system that is in numerous Chrysler vehicles and doesn't have the same issues with other devices like the Galaxy S3 or EVO LTE that I have previously used.
I know the dev community can't wave their hands and make it work, especially on a not rooted phone. But anyone have a clue how to push this up to LG outside of their awful support site?
Bump, recently moved thread.
What Bluetooth issue do you have and I don't use exchange so I wouldn't know anything about that issue
You bump your own 2 week old thread for issues that people apparently don't have. I know I sure don't. Of course I don't use Exchange and my bluetooth works fine

ZV9 fixed my Exchange issue, although it was not a connectivity issue. Are you sure your credentials are correct? SSL vs non-SSL? Tried on mobile network instead of wifi?
I use the same LG Tone and have 0 issues. And know customers that use exchange and have no issues. Are you sure its not the credentials?

RE: Bluetooth, I believe the OP is referring to the fact that this phone will randomly disconnect from a connected bluetooth device. I have two devices I regularly connect to, my car and my home phone system. The phone connects and remains connected to my car. However, it WILL disconnect from the home phone either randomly, or as soon as I try using the home phone to make or receive a linked call. The second image in the OP's post shows the message that comes up on the phone. It can't entirely be the fault of the connected home phone system because I used to connect my Optimus S to the system perfectly every time and never ever dropped a connection. The OG drops the connection to the home system without fail every single time. If I recall, it sometimes worked on ZV7 but never on 8 or 9.

Thank you, THIS.
Instead of shook's dumb response. My screen caps aren't random. And I'm not the only person having these issues. There are actually numerous mixed threads floating around the general forum or elsewhere. I repeat, the core functionality of this phone is not stable.
I exchanged my phone and started getting the issue shown in screen shots by OP. Spent all week trying to resolve the problem just to find out that my work exchange server had updated security and only allowed ten devices to be connected. It did not remove my old devices from the list and so I had maxed my limit. The old device remove process is in the outlook web client only under web mobile options. MS Outlook did not give me any similar options.
Anyways, the point I am trying to make is it may be related to your exchange server. Have you looked into that?

I was aware of the ten device outlook limitation. But I only have two devices registered currently. I have appropriately set up everything, the phone is just no good.

Windows Phone 7 and also mango will drop wifi on device sleep/screen lock, making receiving emails and other notification impossible unless you have data.
There are people who dont like to use their data services at home, and would love to have an option to keep wifi alive at screen lock, so please vote for this feature:
Vote here for Microsoft to add this feature

it's like reading my thread again
you are not alone having this issue, its not smart thinking by MS. We need to voice our issues on their site.
I completely agree. It's borderline retarded if MS expects everyone to have a data plan.
Most people do have a data plan, especially here in the US. The issue is the battery, a lot of people will complain if it stays on consistently and kills the battery. But, I do agree there needs to be an option, which is off by default, to enable this. I also think they need to make it stay on while it's actively downloading something, whether it be an app or a website, not start on WiFi and then dip to 3G when the screen is off.
I don't think that's completely true ...
I have a feeling that the WiFi isn't off 100% of the time when the screen is locked, because there are sometimes that I unlock the screen (after a long time from locking it) and I find out that it's already connected to WiFi !
So I'm guessing that it enables WiFi during sleep at certain intervals to synchronize with the cloud (e-mail, notifications, ... etc), if that's the case, then it's not a stupid decision after all

I have to agree here. The reason for the auto-off is for battery saving. I don't notice much difference in battery life myself with WiFi on or off because my screen is almost always off unless I get some sort of a notification or need to look something up. I also agree, that it would be nice to add an option that is defaulted to the current set-up, but when turned on, makes WiFi stay on permanently. Although, I wouldn't expect much battery life with that turned on.
This is great idea, but I would like to ask every1 to vote on everything you think that should be on WP7 (always use 3 votes). It just takes 5mins and helps a lot.

I'm sure everyone has a data plan. I'm also sure none of those people are stupid enough to waste it when there's a perfectly good and faster WiFi connection at home. Would you rather use your WiFi @ home connection or a data plan when you're at home?
wifi will be kept alive if plugged in a wall socket, this is because if you have setup wireless sync then phone will syc with zune wirelessly when connected to wall socket.
However, the reason for this vote is to voice our opinion for choice...a choice in shape of a simple toggle under settings where we users like us who'd like to use wifi than data at home to keep wifi alive at all times under screen lock....
I've mentioned this before that 3G chip use far more battery power than wifi, so keeping wifi alive at home shouldnt be a BIG hit on battery.
MS can by default have the same setup as is....but users should have an option to toggle this on/off.
iPhone has shown that simple = better. Too many options and choices just confuses the user.
I think the best solution is not an option in the settings to keep it turned on, but to enable it when it's needed, eg,
- Keep it on constantly for push email/applications with push support
- Enable it every 30 minutes (or whenever) for tile updates, email downloading
- Wait until current downloads are finished before turning off WiFi!

I understand the reasoning of what you guys say but now we have another toggle to switch lets not vote WP into being Android with toggles all over the damn place. If you want continuous WiFi its simple plug your phone in then it will stay on even if locked that is a much better solution so when you unplug or are ready to go out the door you know that you have a full battery when you leave.

Why would I want to use WiFi when my phone is asleep? It's not like I'm downloading gigs of data for the tiles. The phone synchronizes only Mail, Push Services, Notifications and a few more things. All in all just a few kb. I don't want my phone to use the battery intensive WiFi connection for these tiny downloads.

Why not? Some people just like it that way, or having a choice is a bad thing on WP 7? They can leave it off by default, and for people that can think with their brain, thay can put something like this, so people can CHOOSE what they want.

Recently the last 2 days I was not able to navigate correctly or get driving directions correctly do to GPS not locking. Now everything is fine.Been with android since day one purchasing the G1 from T-Mobile before it made it in the stores. As time gone on I have purchased the MyTouch original and I have purchased The Nexus brand having the Nexus 1 and Nexus S since launch too and will continue to purchase Nexus only. Love MY stock GSM Android Galaxy Nexus running 4.1.1 purchased from the PLAYSTORE...Never have I had a problem with GPS lock on any ANDROID Phone since the last couple of days maybe I Have just gotten all good phones.Since Jellybean has launched and I notice that UNCHECKING Google location service in Locations GPS will not Work which I believe should not work like that.I have come to the conclusion that our GPS will continue to suffer and not lock correctly or work at all if Google contiues to do whatever they are doing to keep track of what we are doing which I have no problem with.THE point is in the long run the GPS will not fuction any time GOOGLE has problems on its side. The GPS will eventually began to fuction like a application failing sometimes.. Hopefully they switch back to the option of just checking the box for using Cell Towers for location or GPS Satelites like in previous ANDROID Phones..
I didn't experience any of this... where I am right now I have really poor connection so GPS lock on will be impossible, when I get home I'll tell you again but I don't seem to have this problem ..

Holy run-on sentence, Batman!
Anyway, a lot of Android devices have had GPS troubles the last couple of days. I believe it was attributed to something out of our control (solar flares or something).
Hence, removing AGPS didn't allow for standalone to lock on...

I am not sure that I understand your point that GPS isn't working properly because Google wants to track us as much as possible. Wouldn't that mean Google would make sure your GPS locks in accurately every single time for better tracking?
Um... My gps is fine when I tested it yesterday.

ah sry forgot to actually contribute: no, best1923. you're wrong.
I wish I was important enough or interesting enough for Google to care where I was, or what I was doing. It is easy to get your mind set on some conspiracy theory, but quite frankly Google couldn't care less about us. The only thing that matters is that we keep buying there products and using there services.

Never had a problem with my GPS on 4.1.1 Locks in 5 seconds... the Accuracy takes longer inside -> starts at 10m and goes to 5m in about 10 seconds, but immediately goes to 5m if I'm outside (cool animation of the radius circle too).
All in all very happy with the GPS as it stands now... it never bounces either like it used to in 4.0.2 and 4.0.4.
So whatever, if anything, google did to improve its accuracy, I'm all for it.
Forgive me if this question has already been asked and answered, but I've been trying for months everything i can with info found online and possible solutions, but Google refers me to a lot of different yet similar situations, and I cannot figure out what to do, and my situation is driving me crazy.

Long story short, I use a Bluetooth headset everyday, in my motorcycle helmet. After my phone auto updated to 4.1.1, I experience what can only be called intermittent functionality. I connect my toro nexus to the headset, and play music, and auto answer phone calls. I have no issues connecting the headset, but most often, after i connect the headset, and play music, the transmission of the music plays for like 5 seconds, then cuts out for a few seconds, and then repeats. There are no connection problems on the phone; the phone says BT is connected fine, etc. Sometimes it works, and i can make one commute a day with music and no interruption, but as far as i can tell, there is no situation that is repeatable, ie i cannot find a situation where it will work every time under the same set of variables.
This is extremely annoying for a guy who uses his phone pretty much exclusively to stream music to a BT headset. I have contemplated switching phones, but i love this one. With my Mugen battery, i go all day long, and then some.
I had thought that perhaps the newest incarnation, 4.2, and subsequently 4.2.1 would solve the issue, but no luck. This shieza does not work Bluetooth is officially broken. I have read that others report Bluetooth not working correctly as well, so as I understand it, it is Google's fault for making things wonky after 4.0.4 . I suppose there is a remote possibility that it is only MY PHONE that is busted, but i want to eliminate any doubt as to that by trying everything i can before going to Verizon and having them replace it.
So as a last straw I was thinking of going back to the original factory firmware, 4.0.4 (IMM76K) by following the guide here:
[HOW-TO] [GSM & CDMA] Return to stock for ALL Galaxy Nexus phones (latest JOP40D)
I can use the 4.0.4 instead of 4.1.1, right?
And seeing if things go back to normal like they were when i first got the phone, and if it works, great, I will use that version.....but I remembered something...
If I remember correctly, this phone downloads updates over the air, (OTA right?) and then auto updates itself say on a reboot, right? I believe this has happened on the phone like...3 times since I got it.
Is there a way to disable the ota updates?
Many thanks for any who read/respond, I'm at whits end, and I need some help. Any/all input appreciated.
Thanks,
Sytheii
After looking through efrant's guide on back to stock, if i understand it correctly from reading this section of his guide, as long as one of the IMG's i have on the phone is different from the release package that i flash to the phone, I will get an update available notification, but it won't download and try to install automatically?
efrant said:
4) WHEN you get the update notification, IF you want it to install automatically, you will need to ensure that that you are using the corresponding boot, radio and recovery images for the .tgz package you downloaded. Otherwise, the update will not install automatically, but it will install using a custom recovery like CWM. See this thread for details.

I was planning on leaving TWRP on the phone anyway, so I could flash a custom rom or whatever at a later date, will that satisfy at least the "disabling" of the automatic ota updates?
Again, any contributions would be greatly appreciated.

that's just the notifications, right?
i suppose i could do that if i followed through, but only if it isn't automatic, y suppose now that I'm looking for confirmation that as long as one of my partitions on the phone was flashed with a non stock img then it wont auto update...

Since you're not being specific about what you mean, as there are a couple of possible "its" you may be referring to in my original post, I will put my hook in the water and see if you or others might bite, again...

My apologies! Thank you/sryy. I skimmed, rather than read in its entirety. :/
Well, I tried everything I could think to try, including going all the way back to stock, to ICS 4.0.4, I tried a "Bluetooth repair" app i found as well on play, but nothing worked, whatsoever. I incrementally installed updates up to 4.1.1 as well, and still no dice.
When i initially did the back to stock with 4.0.4, i noticed something new, but I think it had happened a few times before, but never constantly.
Playing music on the phone with either Google play music, or Pandora, worked fine, i hit play, and music played. I hit pause, and music paused.
But as soon as I connected the phone to an A2DP headset, the music would pause. When I tried to hit play again, the music would pause after a few seconds, and nothing would work to get it to play continuously, strange no? Disconnect from the headset, and playing music resumes fine.
I ended up getting a new device, but I still have my old one. Bluetooth works flawlessly on the new device, even with a 4.2 Jellybean rom, I decided on using Purity 4.3, with Anarky Purity Kernel. This makes me think that perhaps the phone was just plain busted, i had dropped it a few times, but besides a little nick or two on the other casing I never noticed anything wonky except for Bluetooth.
If anyone can think of anything i might be able to try to fix what might be wrong fireware-wise with the phone, anything I might be able to try out, then perhaps it might serve as a backup.
Hi, recently I found the GPS on my Galaxy Nexus refuse to lock properly.
I used maps for years, and the locating seems good enough (it seems that these locations are from wifi or other source now).
Recently I installed an app to track my route, which really needs true GPS, and the problem began.
Every morning, when I go from my home to work, the GPS just not work at all (no lock). Sometimes it works when I leave home, but minutes later, it lost lock and never gets back during the whole route (even after I reboot the phone and clear the AGPS data with GPS Test). After I got to the workplace, and tried again, the GPS is still not working.
What's surprising me is the GPS works fine when I leave from my work pace and head to my home in the afternoon. It locks fast and works well all the way. (This is the same route in the morning)
The same problem happens for several days (bad in the morning, good in the afternoon).
With GPS Test (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest), I notice the phone really gets a lot of satellites(>9) with good signals, but somehow none of them are used to calculate my location (they are all grey in GPS Test's satellite view).
Does anyone have any idea what's the problem and how to fix it?
The phone is stock android 4.3 unrooted.
Thanks.
The attached file is the screenshot of GPS Test this morning.

PS. the gps works great at noon, have no idea why it refuse to work every morning.
I have a similar problem, when I leave work from a particular exit my gps doesn't find anything for quite a while, where as if I leave from another it gets it straight away.
The only thing I can think of is there are lots of buildings and roofs around that first exit, where as the second one is straight into a carpark. Maybe there is too much interference when you leave home, but not work?

The thing is when I leave home at night, the GPS works well, but not in the morning. On the other hand, when I arrival at work, the GPS still not working, but it works at noon.
I try to figure if the timing is the problem. For example, if much more interference in the morning or the satellites decide not to communicate with me at that time?
As you can see in my attachment, it actually found a lot of satellites, but no data received from any of them. Don't know why, and never noticed before.

Have you checked/changed the server you use for gps? I had to change mine from US to oceania (depends where you are) at one point and that seemed to help

Great idea, I never would have thought of that on my own! I normally use FasterFix from the Play Store to set the GPS server to US. After the first day, locks were very slow and inacurate, and by the second day, I stopped getting locks altogether. I tried flashing back to stock, still didnt work. Then i came across your post, and after setting it to Oceania, I got a lock in under 10 seconds. Many thanks!

Hello stranger,
I signed up to this forum just to reply to your post. I recently installed Paranoid Android 4.4 (final build) on my Gnex and GPS was not working at all (would show 0/0 satellites, sometimes 1 or 2, but NEVER lock). Where as previously on PA-3.99 it was fine. After scouring the internet for the last two days and trying anything that didn't involve me wiping, reflashing, etc. your post single handedly saved me from doing any of the extreme measures. I just went to download faster fix, but then stumbled upon fasterGPS. This app, using lovely root access (yay root!), allowed me to set my NTP to North America and then Canada. Now my GPS works perfectly! Thank you again so much!
Maybe I'm in the wrong discussion area, Admin move if so. Thanks!
Am I taking crazy pills or am I the only one that finds the Pixel 6P glitchy AF/ Not that great? I keep seeing ya'll post best phone ever.
Background:
I've had PXL-P4XL, Skipped 5G for OP8 Pro and Now back to P6 Pro.
Quick Reference:
Fwding a URL to someone in messages, it'll pull up messages but the text box is blank so have to go back to browser copy URL then go to messages and post. Same with sending a picture from gallery blank in messages. (Maybe messages issue?)
Then NONE of the Smart Lock features work. I use my watch as Trusted Device doesn't work.
Tried Trusted places (which I don't use) just to see if that worked Nope.
Tested On Body as well works sometimes.
Then Bluetooth for car. Getting into car bluetooth takes about 50 second to connect. (yes tested with other devices instant pick up)
Ironically enough the fingerprint reader actually ISN'T that bad for me WHEN it pulls up. BUT where I do have the problem is the Security Pin. Man I'll put my Lock PIN in about 3 times on average before it lets me in. Same code over and over. I have had it up to 6 times before. Even doing it super slow.
Even just now tried to open Bank Of America App fingerprint popped up and kept putting finger on it and not even a vibrate of miss recognize. Had to turn screen off / on put code in and reopen app.
I'll finish it with the 5G UC "TMO" (non mmw). Is horrible. I think the 4G in my P4XL was faster...

There's something wrong with your phone. Period.

No, just you bro. As a matter of fact, not one single problem you said.
I'm not even going to try to change your mind. If you're unhappy with the phone I suggest you return it, or sell it if past the return period
Wait for an update?
Have a couple of those issues. Blank message after sharing or copying url. Smart lock works for trusted location but not trusted device. Had to pair my 2020 Ram 8 times in last 3 days. TMO 5G UC is fast here for me but the handoffs between LTE and 5G are horrible. Folks that have no issues, enjoy your phone. For me this will probably be traded in for someone else down the road. This has been the worst Google phone for me of the 4 that I have owned.
Not my duty or anyone else in this forum to change your mind. If you don't like it, great. Just find a phone that you like, search Google issue trackers, maybe RMA, or simply pose the question.
That said...
Smart lock had been working fine for me as does url forwarding.
Fingerprint is also fine along with the occasional "additional security" message when I have to enter my pin, which takes the first time.
Bluetooth takes about 20 secs to connect on a cold start on my F-Pace and almost instantaneous if I was just in it a few minutes ago. Same for my I-Pace.
No Bank of America fingerprint issues here.
Only thing for me is the occasional signal issues that didn't happen on my Pixel 5. Hopefully that'll be fixed with an update.
Definite case of user error here I have none of the issues you mentioned plus my pixel 6 pro is really fast on 5G

I don't have any of those issues on my 6 Pro and 5G UC has been super fast in my area.
Also glad I'm not seeing those issues. Updates should be incoming Monday to solidify our Pixel 6 Pro! Cheers
Probably a redundant answer, but you may want to reset to factory settings. I've read in Reddit that bugs may be caused by Google direct transfer feature via USB in case you've used just that.
