[Q] Chrome beta caused me lots of issues. - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I installed the new Chrome Beta app, it installed okay. But when i opened it, it asked for certain permissions from my Google account and on the third permission, my phone just restarted its self. When it turned back on all my accounts (in settings) had been deleted, I have not noticed anything else yet.
I added them back right away, but this morning i noticed the Facebook account had gone again.
Anyone know how this could have happened?
Thanks!
Rooted, Stock, Galaxy Nexus.

The beta version is unstable but it seems unlikely that it could cause something like this even I have it and it only hogs memory. Try uninstalling and re installing the app and also check your apps with root permissions to make sure they are not misbehaving.

Installed Chrome Beta on both my GNex and Xoom, no issues. A few extra permissions to accept, which I believe are due to desktop Chrome extensions installed on my PC.

Okay, so you don't think the app could have caused this?
Was it just coincidence, that it happened while the app was opening up for the first time requesting Google account permissions?
My phone has never done this before, besides rooting it, I have never modified anything else.

I also had the same reboot experience but no problem with my accounts.

Requesting permissions seems to be normal, did it to me as well.

Not sure why it would wipe your accounts, but it is a beta. Always an upfront warning...

I downloaded it and gave it a try. Found it to be sluggish and buggy. I'll stick to Dolphin.

[Q] Getting Old Mobile Facebook UI, But Why?

Hey everyone,
When I go to use facebook via the stock browser, it brings up the old Mobile Facebook UI. This has only started happening recently, after installing ProxyDroid and activating it for the first time over my university's network. When I was simply rooted and had AdAway activated the current Mobile Facebook UI (that's similar to the Facebook app) would be displayed.
Why is this? Nothing's really changed. Is there any fix for this? Googling gets me nothing.
It started for me today too. I'd rather use the mobile site because the app sucks and is a huge battery hog.

I was speaking to a friend of mine, and he has said that despite uninstalling ProxyDroid, it may still be messing with the Nexus' proxy settings. So I'm going to install it again and clear all the settings. If that doesn't fix it, I'm considering going in and removing any trace of ProxyDroid from root (or just in the Android folder over ADB).
If it's an issue with Facebook though, well... That sucks.

I just had to clear the stock browser's cookies and cache a few times. Not sure why didn't fix it the first time. Oh well.

Thanks for that mate ... I was having the same issue on my Galaxy S2, didn't know why it was happening but it just suddenly started doing it. I thought it may have been 'cos I had recently flashed a new rom. So I flashed back to stock but that didn't fix it.
I then came across this thread of yours and did as you did, cleared cache and cookies a few times and it seems to have fixed it
thanks again.

Worked for me. Damn that mobile site is a killer. I actually installed friendcaster because of it ! LOL

It reverted to the old UI for me again after updating to IMM76I. Wiping cache and cookies did nothing, so I went into CWM and wiped my cache and dalvik cache. That fixed it.

Amazon app store and JB 4.2

Since upgrading to JB 4.2 the Amazon app store keeps having me authenticate periodically. I assume that this is related to the JB update, but I haven't seen anyone else mention this issue. Particularly when accessing Tweetcaster Pro is when I see the issue start, but then no other app works correctly.
Just for some background, I wiped my phone yesterday with 4.1 and then installed 4.2. I have the latest version of the app store and have tried clearing cache/data, uninstalling, reinstalling. No help.
So I'd like to know if anyone else is seeing this or if it is just me.
Thanks
Probably just needs a compatibility update, same as every other app that isn't working on 4.2 right now.

Thanks. I figured that was the case. I would just be more at ease knowing I wasn't alone.
Same behaviour here after updating to 4.2. Hope Amazon is fast with a fix...
Same here - driving me freaking crazy
You may have to redownload the Appstore apk, there seems to be one with a new layout now.

It kept asking me to sign in and when I did it was saying wrong password even though I knew it was right. I only had about 3 paid apps for free that I still used so I just uninstalled them and purchased from the play store and uninstalled the amazon app store.....haven't "bought" a free app in like 3 months...the selection is getting to be crap

Sorry for you, but glad to hear it. I ended up calling them today and they hadn't heard of any issues. I suspect they know now.
I'm getting the same thing too although my login credentials actually work. The one thing I haven't checked is whether or not these logins are creating a new device authorization every time.
I completely wiped my phone before upgrading to 4.2 and Amazon App store and Verizon FiOS Mobile Remote are the only two apps with issues.
I have the same issue with Forum Runner. Every time I close the app I get signed out and need to re-login every time I open it back up. So annoying but I'm guessing its a 4.2 update thing. I've deleted it and re-downloaded it and it made no difference.

They explained to me that everytime you login, it creates a new device instance. They limit it at 25. I hit that mark yesterday.

I've read that in the past, but it's never been true for me. I use TubeMate from Amazon and dont need the Amazon Market installed to do so.
Having the same issue with the app store. Just got off the phone with amazon and they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix now

Ouch! I just logged in to my Amazon account and saw all the "Nexus 7 xx" devices that were registered.
Thanks for the heads up. I deregistered all the new devices.
This worked for me
From another forum I found this solution to work:
1) Delete Google Account
2) Reboot Device
3) Reactivate Google Account
4) Log on with Amazon Appstore App
All apps load and run without need to log on each time now.
I also deleted excess Amazon devices as noted above.

Yeah it does add a new device each time... I have 7! Deleted 6 of them... still same problem.

No data connection only on certain apps

Posted this on another site but was not able to get help.
Let me start by saying that I am rooted but on stock rom.
I'll try and explain the best I can.
Yesterday I went to use Opera and noticed that it went to a white screen and never loaded Opera. Tried it about 5 times and the same thing nothing. Tried with wifi on and off. Used the stock browser and it works fine.
So I scrolled through my screens and noticed that my Engadget widget shows "data not available". i deleted the widget and added it back, again same message.
Went into settings and my Mobile Data is still checked. Data usage shows 45.95MB used so far. So I do not believe it hit a data limit and shut it off.
I have no idea what to try. Any help would be appreciated.
You should post this is the q&a forum. Not the galaxy s3 general.

I think he means post it in Galaxy S III Q&A and not general.
Did you try a reboot and do you have any data related apps installed such as Juice Defender?

Amazon Appstore

I had a problem a while back with the Appstore logging out daily, so each log in adds a new device on-line. It was "fixed" on a revC apk and working fine for a few weeks. Just started doing the same yesterday. Anyone else having this issue?
I haven't seen this issue since it was fixed except for once. The appstore was logged out for no reason. It hasn't happened since so I haven't thought about it again. Not sure of any cause though.

Ditto here. I think I'm done with Amazon apps. Combine the losing password with the fact that you can't see the version of app store without logging in (to see if you need to update) and you can't paste into the password box (since I keep my passwords in a safe and normally don't see/type them) it becomes way too annoying.
So you are giving up on an app that gives you a free app every day because you occasionally have to re enter your details?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
I uninstalled appstore, and re downloaded and reinstalled from here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/get/android seems to stick now. I have too many free apps to give it up, although I am replacing them 1 by 1. Play is so much faster at updating.

Well, not just that. The free app every day used to include some good ones, but I can't remember the last time I saw one that interested me. The re-entering of details (and situations where you can't do that, like if you're on a plane) combined with the lack of timely app updates (and occasional battery drain issues) just make it more hassle than it's worth for me. YMMV.

Facebook (build 132866) won't stop downloading

I get this notification that says it's downloading. But when I go to app info. It's from downloads instead of the Play Store. I don't know what it is. When I disable the app. Everything stops working; Play store, Chrome, Facebook, etc. I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem?

I didn't download anything. I noticed it on my way home. It initiated randomly. And it won't finish, or even stop. It isn't showing in the downloads either.
****edit
I found it in the downloads a couple hours after the problem started. I don't have a full solution, which sucks.

Might be it is sync ur gallery with fb photos. Uninstall app and reinstall.
I'm experiencing this exact problem, also initiated on its own. I uninstalled and reinstalled Facebook but that did not affect the perpetual downloading of this. Nor have several phone restarts, etc.

solution!!!
I don't know you already fix this problem or not.
I searched several site and finally got an answer for this problem.
Just connect WiFi and let it do whatever it want.
Before I found this, I tried several things;
1. restarted my phone
2. pulled out battery and put back
3. killed the process from task manager
4. removed FB account
5. removed FB app from my phone (actually, back to previous version) and update again
Non of these helped me ever!!!
Also, this problem is not device specific. (I realize it after googling it)
I mean various devices and locations had the same issue.
Anyway, good luck!!!

Thanks. Connecting it to wifi did allow it to finish the unending installation very quickly. That was annoying and I'd like to know why an update initiated on its own, seemingly from within the app and not through the Play store (I do not have any auto-updates allowed, especially for social media apps), and drained my battery while it looped an install process that was apparently constantly seeking a wifi signal to complete.
Thanks a lot!!

I started having this issue today on my Galaxy Tab 2. The only solution people found on different forums is ti turn on WiFi. It'll immediately start downloading and would get installed (Probably due to its size it does not want to be downloaded on 3G/4G). Although I don't feel very comfortable installing this, Does not feel very genuine to me.
Did any one else had this problem? or any issues after installing it?
I had to switch to Wifi about 3 or 4 times and then it finally downloaded. It tried to download all of last night and killed the battery. In the mean time my phone has switched to using Edge instead of 4g and no matter how many times I switch Airplane mode on/off or restart the phone I can't get my 4g back. Think it is just a local problem? I've got a S3 on T-mobile in Orange County, CA.
