I need help. I have CWM recovery on my G Note II. I had a Restore point at 2013-01-08, and whenever I try to restore it, it finishes but my Application Data still wont come back. It started when I tried to reset my phone because I needed to use the OTA for version 4.1.2, but when I restored, it went back to version 4.1.1, so after that, everything was normal, the app data was there and everything. But later on, I tried to update it again but this time when I tried to restore, none of my app data came back, except for minor things like Agent Dash, s note. Nothing like my Temple Run, Brave, Subway surfer and even my Tap tap Revenge 4 songs which were like 200+ are all gone. I tried restoring but they just wont come back... Please help..

I searched the forum for something similar to no avail, so if I missed it, I apologize. So I had been running CM 6 stable for a month and everything was great. Hadn't upgraded kernels, or any other modifications. Turned my phone off for the night last night, and when it came back on, stuck in bootloop for no good reason why. So, oh well, I'll just flash a new ROM, no big deal, then tried CM7RC, it boots, I use titanium backup to restore everything, it all works well, until I reboot the phone again, and bam, right back to bootloop, but this time with CM7. I'm completely out of ideas, any help would be appreciated. I've wiped davlik, cache, did factory reset, everything I can think of.
Thanks ahead of time.
Try fixing permissions in recovery, if that fails then try wiping ALL data and installing CM again. If that doesn't work, try a Sense ROM, it might be an AOSP problem
so here's an update to my problem so far. What I had left out earlier was that I could install a new ROM, and I could reboot my phone and it would work fine. Not until I used Titanium Backup and restored all of my apps and settings did I run into a problem. With that said, I did as PGleo86 said. This time, it worked just as it had before. Phone was fine, until I restored data. So I thought about what I had installed last. So the last time I wiped everything and installed CM7, I used Titanium Backup, but this time I omitted a few programs and settings, namely, Amazon App Store and Angry Birds Rio. This time when I rebooted, it worked fine. So I am slowly going to restore the settings, apps, and data I omitted one at a time and reboot my phone to see if any of them put me into boot loop. Has anyone heard of anything like this before? Particularly with Amazon App Store or Angry Birds Rio? (I did recently upgrade my version of Swype as well)

From what I understand, its restoring the data that is killin it. You can restore all the apps you like, but when you start restoring data, it seriously screws with alot of roms. You will keep having the issue as long as your restoring data. Good luck dude
This may take a while but try reloading a few apps at a time to see which on in particular is causing the issue. I saw a post like this somewhere on this massive forum, but the person found out it was one app that was killing the boot process.
Different roms store data in different places. So titanium is writing data to somewhere it shouldn't be.
I've been using my phone for quite some time now, Flashing ROMs and all sorts of stuff but one day while i was running on a Darkside ICS (4.0.3) Rom when all of a sudden all of my messages were randomly deleted without my notification and GoSMS was unable to act. I immediately took out my battery and rebooted.Upon doing so i noticed all of my messages were still gone so i just opened Titanium Back Up and then Restored my messages. Shortly after doing that GoSMS froze again(Even the original Messaging App) and all my messages were deleted again.I decided to go back to a older ROM (Paradox II 2.3.6) and went there and restored all my apps and messages..Guess what?Another problem. The Phone and Contacts stopped worked every time i attempted to use it. So after messing with other ROMS(Even Jamieson's JB ROM) i just said screw it and went back to Stock and rooted again. And i once again downloaded my Titanium Backup, Restored Apps, and then Restored Messages and after my messages finished restoring and i attempted to send a messages..GoSMS froze up and forced me to Pull the battery..And it's just been freezing up badly after this. At the moment i did a Darkside Super Cache wipe and is hoping for the best.If this dosen't work then can anyone give me some Help? These Messages and Picture messages are valuable to me and i really wish to keep them..Help?
And now i cannot even attempt to make calls or send a message. It just dosn't go through at all. .

I will definitely tell you it's in you app data...wipe all data to factory fresh and replace apps without data...and do not restore any system apps!i know it's a pain to redo settings but try that...

Oh and the best way to restore is to make a nandroid backup every few days so that way of something happen that would over write everything

From my experiences restoring TI backup apps/data from one version of android to another like ICS to JB, GB to ICS just ends up in total fail in so many ways. Bouncing back and forth like that it's just best to restore with NO data and re-configure the apps which shouldn't take long anyway.. At least a shorter amount of time than banging your head on the desk wondering why your apps keep crashing
This is quite annoying
Every time I turn on my phone, all of the apps that start when my phone boots force close. I'm not able to send a text or even use the dialer. I'm able to browse my home screen, but when I try to run an app, either it will run for a bit and then force close, or it will close as soon as I open it. The battery I have is bad, which results in my phone turning off randomly, I know it's a bad battery because I've had this issue before and replacing the battery solved it.
Today I tried to use soundhound and while it was "listening" the phone decided to turn off. No surprise. However, when I rebooted it, none of my apps were able to run. I get the "Unfortunately, x has stopped working..." and am forced to close the app. I'm not able to do anything on my phone. I can still receive texts, I'm unable to respond to them. I should be getting a new battery in the mail any day now, and I'm hoping it will solve the issue.
I'm running cm9 beta 1. I've cleared the cache and the d-cache.
Could the battery be the cause of this? Any suggestions?
I'm gonna try to temp boot to EL29. Mobile ODIN doesn't work, am I able to use ODIN 1.85 on my computer instead? I would install the direct boot v3 file under the PDA option right?
EDIT: The apps seemed to have worked when under a temp boot of EL29. I'm gonna do a fresh install to see if that does the trick
I doubt its the battery. Maybe a corrupted install. Download files to pc if possible then xfer to phone. Verify md5 before flashing. You can get software from sourceforge if needed.
The fresh install did the trick. Still not sure how this happened, but whateva. I don't need a new phone
That's good sometimes you just get a bad flash or flash a mod that just messes things up. I have flashed things that worked perfectly for others and my phone got jacked. Its all part of the game. I keep a recent one click on my laptop just in case.
It sounds like when you installed your rom you forgot to wipe data/factory rest or when you restored app backups you installed data with system apps from a TWiz rom. When restoring backed up apps you can usually restore data for system apps from TWiz > TWiz or AOSP/CM > AOSP/CM as long as they are on the same build ie ICS > ICS or JB>JB etc. You can restore data for user apps safely regardless of rom they were backed up on. But the FC issue comes from incompatible system data it screws up the system process and causes apps to FC when it tries to load the data
We are legion, for we are many.

Hello,
I should mention I'm running the dark_hd CM9 rom, rooted S-OFF.
So earlier today I was in the bootloader and accidently hit Clear Storage. It brought up a black screen with an image of an open box and then my phone rebooted normally.. fat fingered it somehow. Oops.
Upon loading the OS it immediately asked me for my Google info and I knew something was wrong. All of my apps icons are there on the launcher screen, however none of them are installed except for the basic apps. Also, when I tried to install Titatium Backup again, it says 'Unfortunately, .. has stopped'. I tried to reinstall a few more apps and each one says 'Unfortunately...has stopped". Before I restored, I wanted to see if I could get back some of my data and make a fresh Titanium backup of it all.
I have a few apps like a a logbook program and my Heytell conversations that I would like to see if the data is still there before I do a full restore or a wipe. Is there any way I can fix this "Unfortunately" error? Also, if I do a restore, will my app data be saved or will it revert back to the info that was there when I did the backup? Thanks.

So you hit factory reset from the hboot menu? You could check /data/data and see if the settings for your apps are still there, but i doubt it. You should also check /data/app and see if the apps apk is still there. If it is there, delete it and then try reinstalling it again. If you do a backup, it will restore the data that was backed up. You can do an advanced restore and restore everything except data.

Did you have any apps moved to sdcard? As it almost sounds like that could be the case if some of the data for the phone like the launcher homescreen data is still intact but the apps were on the sdcard which would be part of storage.

I'm sorry it was CM9. Fixed. I had CM10 on the brain as I was getting read to flash the Pons CM10 ROM. I didn't have any luck recovering any of the data so I just wiped it and flashed a new rom. I was able to run Titanium and recovery the data but I still lost some since my last backup. Thanks anyways.
Yesterday my phone was acting weird - Poweramp was starting at boot, Poweramp told me it couldn't verify my license, I had no media volume (but system volume was ok), my lock screen was being bypassed on boot, S-voice was starting whenever I put headphones in, no sound from bluetooth, etc. Weird stuff.
After troubleshooting and coming up empty, I took a backup with Clockworkmod, then restored to a backup I took on the 4th. When I rebooted, apps started crashing non-stop. Not only gapps, but also twitter, dropbox, etc. Every 1-3 seconds I'd get a couple of crashes. I also get a lot of notifications (not in crash windows) that it "cannot open database". These appear across the bottom of the screen, like when I'm notified that an app has received superuser access. It happens so often I can't even shut the phone off - I have to pull the battery.
I restored to a backup I took on January 10th and got the same thing. I restored back to the backup I'd just taken, same thing. I wiped the cache and the dalvik cache, same thing. I reflashed my gapps, but that didn't fix anything. I tried to remove my google account, but I can't get into the menu because the phone's crashing too fast.
So far, the only way I can get a usable phone is by performing a factory reset and setting up my phone again.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my data back? I have an app backup from January some time using My Backup Pro, but I don't want to lose a month's worth of data if at all possible.
I'm running a rooted Galaxy S3 (AT&T) on Stock 4.3. I've been messing with Xposed for the past couple days, but disabled almost all of the modules while trying to troubleshoot the issue (and it seemed stable before it started acting weird while I was shoveling snow). Also, only the most recent backup has Xposed installed.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: I was able to remove my Google account and this initially stopped the Google apps from constantly crashing, but other apps continued to crash. After a minute or so, the Google apps started crashing again.
I was able to restore a much older backup (4.0) and this seemed to work ok for the few minutes I tested it.
I did a factory reset on 4.3, which seemed ok, but when I started restoring my apps through My Backup Pro, android.process.acore started crashing every second or so. I cleared the cache, but it didn't fix the problem (in fact, it started crashing on the lock screen, which hadn't happened before.)
I'm starting to wonder if I need to flash a new ROM because something not backed up by Clockworkmod is FUBAR.
As far as I can tell, the causes of my issues were:
I think my CWM was messed up. When I flashed CM11 to get a working ROM, I saw there was an update pending. I installed that and it seemed to fix the problem with making new backups. I don't think I'll be able to recover the backups from before, but at least I can make new backups now.
I think the android.process.acore issue was the result of the My Backup Pro backup being from CM10.1 when I was trying to restore to Stock 4.3. I think there was some system data in there that wasn't compatible with stock. Selecting only the 3rd party apps that I "needed" to install seemed to resolve this.
I don't know about the original sound issue. I got a ticket response from Poweramp saying it was a Google account mismatch issue. I hadn't made any changes, so my guess is that somehow the account was corrupted. I don't know if removing/adding the account would have made a difference, since the whole thing blew up before I could try. It's also possible that something else got corrupted that caused the volume issue. Volume works fine now that I have a new ROM, so it was definitely not a hardware issue with the headphone jack. I backup restore or factory reset might have fixed the problem, but I don't know for sure.
