Question about flashing roms - HTC One V

So i got my one v bootloader unlocked and went to go flash a rom but i havé some questions First of all thé instructions for thé recovery say to flash kernel first but when I put a kernel on mt sdcard it doesnt show up in twrp and also if i first flash the kernel won't that not let me boot. Sorry if these questions seem kind of dumb but I'm new to this

You don't use recovery to flash kernel, you need to manually flash it via fastboot.
Read Flashing The Kernel[windows] at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34236649#post34236649 and thanks to him for guide.

Uhh i made a mistake and flashed the kernel before the rom and now it stays stuck on the bootscreen how do i get into fastboot

That's not a mistake.flashing kernel before ROM is perfectly normal.to go into fastboot, hold power for 10+seconds until the screen goes black.now once its black, release power and then press and hold volume down until u see the bootloader screen.from there select fastboot.

With relocked bootloader he will not be able to flash boot.img and recovery. First flash stock boot and recovery. Then relock bootloader and then you can apply ota update.

OTA only works in a clean stock ROM. The reason why it stop halfway is because it can't find the file it need to patch.
Only if you have a nandroid backup for your stock rom which should be a clean stock ROM and restore that, then OTA will work.

[Q] [Help] Stuck at boot screen after JB update

So I probably made some enormous stupid mistake.
Have rooted unbranded hox that didnt install ota (returned to clockwork recovery) and used this instead:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035203
Installed without errors, and updated without errors, but stuck at boot screen.
Wont come back to recovery with volume down either.
Didnt read the thread as well as I should have and now I need help figuring out how to access recovery!

Make sure that you have v5.8.4.0 cwm recovery.
In recovery go to mounts and storage, then mount usb storage and connect usb cable to computer.

Working on it. Will update boot.img and try again.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda premium
Will give up and go to sleep.
1. have accessed recovery without problems.
2. have flashed boot.img from the official rom via pc
3. have installed official rom via recovery
4. still stuck at loading screen
and
1. have tried using boot tool
2. locking (unrooting) goes ok
3. ruu starts up ok
4. cant install because of low batt.
have left phone in recovery to load battery over night.
is there anything else im doing wrong?
Sent from my GT-P7500 using xda premium
Finally...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQasxRPopSM
My problem was partially low battery and partially my phone not accepting update to hboot (probably due to low battery)
It didnt load enough in clockwork so I had to leave it on the "script" for a day...

**Stuck in Bootloops, Cant Pass the HTC welcome Screen
ok, calm down, everyone has this problem while flashing, i get it so many times, they can cause by the following reasons
bad flash
wrong rom
you forgot to flash the kernel
wrong kernel
messed up the order in flashing
ok,
1.Bad flash-this occurs if the .zip file is corrupted
solution:= re flash the ROM, if still no, download the file again and try
2.wrong ROM- u may have downloaded a ROM that is not for ur device or a ROM which is of not ur description
for example u might me a PRIMO C device/CDMA and u downloaded a PRIMO U/GSM ROM
3.Wrong Kernel-Kernel is the link between ur software and hardware, if u flash the wrong one like the case mentioned above , download the correct one and re flash
4.[ FLASHING YOUR KERNEL SHOULD BE THE LAST STEP][UNLESS U HAVE A S-OFF DEVICE]

flashing a kernel should be the 1st step mate.. soo u can directly go into recovery after kernel flashing and then proceed with rom and gapps flashing... how on earth are you supposed to go to fastboot from recovery ehh? 1st booting than fukn waiting on the boot screen...
all this voids if u use twrp still.. flashing kernel 1st is highly recommended always and everywhere

I hope I get a fairly quick response to this Followed some advide in that thread, flashed a kernel (I thought) using the All In One Tool, ever since, I've been stuck in a bootloop. Obviously I have access to my bootloader and TWRP (thankfully). My recovery backup returns the same results though.
Im new to this so I'll try toprovide all the info I can.
Followed the TUT on how to Unlock Bootloader and Root 2 days ago.
Yesterday, using the All In One tool, flashed TWRP onto phone.
Was unable to Flash AOKP JellyBean 4.1.2 so I asked for help again (ROM was flashed, but stuck on Initiating Swagger Boot)
Tried using All-In-One to flash (what I thought was) a kernel, since then, my phone just boots continuously or not at all (depending on if I wipe or whatnot)
While at work, I was able to Flash the AOKP rom and Boot into it, but after about 1 minute of use, it reboots.
This is where I'm at now.
My bootloader says
***UNLOCKED***
PRIMOC PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 1.57.0000
RADIO- 1.00.05.0929
eMMC-boot
Jun 18 2012, 10:22:43
I'm using the latest version (2.3.3.) of TWRP
Is there anyway I can find, and delete, the boot.img I flashed with All-In-One, that caused this bootloop?
Thanks again for helping.

I've been trying to downgrade the Radio but for some reason, even that isn't working. So I'm currently unable to go back to the stock rom, can't flash any roms, can't do anything but be in the bootloader and be sad.

[Q] Really stumped...

I have rooted my one v and all is fine, but now I want to put a custom Rom on it and shpongle looked great so I followed the steps...
1. Did a nandroid backup
2. Extracted the boot.img
3. Went into cwm and wiped the phone and dalvik.
4. Installed Rom.zip
5.restarted and before it starts I went into bootloader
6.went into fastboot and flashed boot.img
7.and then restart and it gets stuck on the splash screen with the stupid warning from HTC and HTC dev.
If someone could write a really fool proof way to install this Rom and what is going wrong with what I'm doin I would love you forever coz I just want to free this little pocket rocket to 1.8ghz
Thanks

[Q] Can't use the Recovery Mode

Hello Guys,
I've followed the steps from Here and currently installed the Clockwork Mod Recovery v5.0.2.7
When I go to the Recovery (Power+Vol Down) I get the ClockworkMod Recovery Menu, but nothing works!!
When I choose, for example, "power off" or "reboot system now", the menu disappears and only keeps the Hat Icon only. When I press the power button, the menu comes back .. Don't know what is wrong.
Another thing, I want to flash the device with either ICS or JB, don't know which works better on the Desire Z. Can someone guide me from where to get the ROM and how to successfully install it?

Ok, last thing, how can I install it to the device?? I'm pretty noob here :silly:
The thread I linked you has all that information and more, but for the most part
Download ROM (+anything else required)
Put on root of SD
Boot to recovery
Make a nandroid backup
Wipe ALL
Flash ROM (etc)
Reboot
But I really recommend to read through that link
