I'm currently running CM10.1 nightlies (on the 1/10/2013 build). When I try video calling using WeChat, I just see a black screen. The other party can see me though. Anyone having the same problem or know of a fix?
Btw, WeChat is a chat program, similar to Whatsapp but with video.

Did you try other apps like it (Skype)? As it could very well be a problem with the app.

Ive searched around didnt find much info on the Nitro HD.
I just picked this up for my wife, she loves it.
Whats the best video chat app (preferably free & mainly 3G)?
We tried Fring, doesnt look like front cam is supported.
Tango doesn't seem to work either.
Skype didnt work.
We got ooVoo to work, but quality seems a bit lower than Fring.
Hows the Qik app? It seems its wi-fi only is that correct?
Thanks for the help guys.
Skype works fine, if you don't mind hold the phone sideways.
GTalk (already installed as Talk) also works, which I found sound quality better then skype, but video worse. However you'll need root and SQLite Editor to manually set flag "gtalk_vc_wifi_only" to false in "Google Services Framework" -> gservices.db -> main
and do that after every update.
Or maybe this app will do
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.innodroid.gtalkenabler
Tango works great

skype green on receiving end
Hi all,
The front facing camera of my nitro hd is not working properly in skype. I got my HD nitro recently and updated it to the ICS leak. So I don't know if the problem existed on gingerbread or not. My talking partners can see me but only through very annoying green vertical lines (see attched jpg). However, I can see myself without the green lines on the lg nitro screen. I can also clearly see my talking partners, so no problems here.
Is there a workaround for this? any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.

P.s. It seems like other devices have had similar problems.
can't include links becaus I'm a new user, sorry, just google

Hello everyone. My wife and I just received 4.2.2 OTA for our GNEX and we discovered a bug. If you watch a YouTube video in fullscreen mode and receive a call, the video will keep playing (audio). You will see the call prompt, and if you swipe to answer, the audio from the video will keep playing in the ear piece rendering the call useless. Also, after ending the call (which you will have to do), the video will keep playing even with the default stock browser hidden in the background (this part I like). So Google, fix the full screen call bug, but add/keep the feature to keep playing Flash videos when the browser is hidden.
Edit: This is most likely unrelated to 4.2.2. I believe it's a Flash or stock browser bug.

We're running Takju, not that it makes a difference. Chrome doesn't support Flash, so if you are watching YouTube in Chrome, it must be HTML5. That would mean it's a Flash bug I guess. I will test the YouTube app. Thanks for the feedback!
Edit: I just tested the YouTube app and the bug is not present. So this is most likely a Flash bug, and since Flash is no longer officially supported, I don't think we will see a fix for this anytime soon.

But maybe it can be a bug of flash? I really don't know.
What browser or app are you using to watch flash videos on Android 4.2.2?
ok, We are waiting your feedback.. Your doubts/problem can be the same of many others

Yeah, I think it's a Flash bug. Like you said, the YouTube app doesn't have this problem. I usually watch YouTube videos using the stock browser.

Has anyone else experienced this bug using the stock browser?
Running Imperium Initiative. Has anybody tried using the new Hangouts app for video chat, and if so, have you been able to send outgoing video? Incoming video is fine, but outgoing just displays my G+ picture and a toast notification "Camera Error."

Same problem here on Nexus 4 - seems to be a specific problem with LG branded phones. On my other Galaxy S2 it is working ok. After trying a video chat and a camera error I must reboot the phone to get camera work again,
BTW, if you open Google+ and initiate a video hangouts there - video should work.
Awesome. Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one.
I noticed the same thing with requiring a reboot to get the camera working again. Thanks for pointing out the G+ workaround.

Worked perfect for me. Running Lifeless 14. No camera error and tested video with multi-person hangout this morning. I've also installed the .xml file from _Epic's camera mod, if that's relevant.
I am on stock+root/unlock. I have the camera XML installed and have used it 5 times for vid calls and no problems. Front and back camera's FYI and works great on 4G
Can 2nd that Lifeless 14 runs this flawlessly, I used it for about 20 minutes last night to give my bro a tour of our new house.
I wonder if there's a problem with Imperium Initiative then. I believe Epic's mods are included. I'll probably jump to an AOSP rom soon anyway.
I have the same problem on Optimus G e971 running the carbon Rom from Paulicat. I tried using the XML mod from epic but still the camera error in hangouts. I'll probably try a different Rom soon.

Switched to Venum (which is based off of Lifeless, goo.im has been slow so I needed a rom with faster hosting), and no more camera error. I found a forum post with a few people saying that Beats audio was causing the hangouts video issue, so that's why I switched to a rom with no Beats.
Any of you guys with camera errors use Beats or have some other DSP manager installed?

I have no idea, and I can't give you a technical explanation. All I know is that while searching around for a solution I encountered a few others who had made the connection that Beats caused problems, and when I switched to a ROM without Beats my Hangouts worked perfectly. I do know that in the past Beats caused various problems for people on the Evo 4g. If you try removing Beats or switch Roms altogether, let me know what happens.
I'm using a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 on CM11 with TWRP. I cannot seem to get video recording or playback (although I am not very sure about video playback, I've only received pictures in the past while) to work. With an older version of Snapchat, video recording appears to work but then right before I am about to send the video, a message pops up and says that it cannot play the video. Is this related to "Camcorder does not actually record to storage" in the TeamChopsticks "Known Issues That Will Be Fixed"? If not, is there a way that I can fix this?

I've been having this problem with all jellybean ROMs, including stock.
I'm with ya, most likely a Jellybean problem. So if you absolutely need it, maybe revert to an ICS rom or go to stock.

Okay...so I just got snapchat. Never used that before...LOL. So im guessing when you record the video...it dosent play back, right? Do you get to the part where after you record and it plays back? Or is it when you send....it dosent work at all? I havent sent one yet...but I will test more...but I had a camera problem and combined a lot of peoples ways to make it work. I can record at 1080p, I can watch what i filmed, and my gallery dosent FC and reboot phone. I am on UB4.0final, but that camera had issues so I did some research and tested stuff out and now I have what I have...LOL. Let me know if I was right bout the video play back after you record or is it just sending and I will try to help you guys out best I can

the only fix I've found is to use an older version of snapchat , but you unfortunately lose many of the newer features
You wouldn't happen to have an older version would you

I have had these problems too, I find that the version that works is SnapChat 3.07, lets you use front and rear cam for pics and video with no issues.
I just googled for the APK
Im running CM 11 nightlies. I think it's something to do with video framework. I have similar problems with the Tiny Chat app.
I tried googling but couldn't find it could you pm me a link

My Acro S is running Beanstalk 4.4.278. Great rom so far but 1080p playback (specifically on MX Player) does not work. Freezes and reboots my phone when I try. 1080p recording with latest Google Camera works like a charm but its frustrating I can't view any of them. I haven't tried playback on any other video players though. I removed the video player that came with KitKat or the rom btw so I can't try that too.
Any help or advice?

Just tried it (since I had never tried it before you mentioned it) and it works fine. The video is a little juttery, but I can live with that.
Running BeanStalk v4.4.285, on the same phone.. Kernel is 3.4.0-Evovle-v1.11+ [email protected]
I think you might want to upgrade to the latest version - that might fix it.

Any notable bugs on 4.4.285? I might upgrade if that will fix the playback problem and if there aren't any annoying bugs..

There are two that are a bit annoying (again, not everyone has these though, so you might get lucky).
1. Sometimes when a call comes in, the screen will either stay blank and take a while to light up (by which time the caller has hang up)
2. Sometimes streaming a video online (with any player, not just MX) will crash and force the device to reboot when you try to exit watching the video.
These are the two major issues that I find on my phone. Never the less, I still prefer this version to stock, so I have been using it for more than a month now and I am very happy.
