[Q] Kindle Bricked - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

My mother got my niece a Kindle fire 2 for Christmas. I wanted to root it and turn it into a android based device. I rooted it successfully but when I tried to get it into recovery it just shutdown on me. I got to the screen with the triangle and whatever I forgot but after, it just won't come on.
I am an experience person at rooting/flashing devices I just didn't really realize it was a kindle fire 2 ( I really don't keep up with kindle products). I ordered as factory usb cable which was almost a month ago, but when I do get this cable how do I get my niece kindle to boot back up or can it be done without that cable.
Thanks for the help in advance.

I haven't done it myself, but you should be able to get into fastball mode and then push certain partitions back onto the KF 2. There is a thread for restoring a device in this forum, which may help if you didn't backup the partitions as soon as you rooted.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you OP, but I've gotten a factory cable. Not that it really helped though, fastboot doesn't find my device when plugged in with the factory cable. I suspect it's a driver issue, but I can't fix that right now as I'm away from my normal computer.
Also, someone advised me in a different thread to take off the back cover and short the USB, just like you would with a bricked KF1. That didn't work either.
I'm going to put some more time into fixing my device after this weekend.

Ok so i order my factory cable almost been a month now. I got really tired of waiting on it.
So last night i decided to make my own factory cable. The instructions looked simple, connect a wire from pin 1 to pin 4. I did that and my device was still not going into fastboot. Is there some type of program that i am suppose to use with the factory cable. If no programs then maybe i didnt build the cable right.
Then I will just have to wait till I recieve my factory boot cable and try again.

i dont no if this will work for you guys but i got out of a boot loop caused by me freezing the home launcher.Like you my kindle couldn't be seen by adb so after hours of messing about i downloaded super one click root using this programe to install the drivers i then did adb devices and it was back online. So from there i used the KFU to root as this boots the KF to that screen which askes you to save or not save but from that screen i was able to pull down the notifications bar and go to more from there i could hit the star button and get to silk i downloaded titanium backup and unfroze the home launcher rebooted and my kindle was back alive.Just one thing to note after doing this my kf couldnt be seen by the pc as a mass storage device you need to uninstall the drivers super one click installed and all is well hope this helps.

can you post links of the files you downloaded
update: i download super one click and tried to find the device that way but the problem is that my device is completely bricked. When it is connected to the charger it will not even show a green or orange light as if it was charging.

Where did you get the cable? I would check out Skorpn. He makes them here at XDA and is really good about quality and shipping. If you live in the US it shouldn't take more than a week I assume to get the cable. Ordering one from him after work

so is skorpn a user or a website, if he is a user give me his contact info
updated: no website

Here, he is a user: http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=500006
I got my factory cable from him, took 9 days to be shipped over here in the Netherlands. Would really recommend.

I been trying to make this factory fastboot cable for days now. Do I suppose to modify a motorola usb cable because right now I am using a samsung usb cable. I know my soldering aint that bad, never had any problems soldering anything else.
Any help, I will be greatly thankful.

Mmm not very knowledgeable on this topic, but I succesfully built my own fastboot cable yesterday evening and, from what I understood, just any usb cable would do. I mean, provided it has a usb plug on one side and a micro-usb on the other
I just took the first cable that came to my hand, carefully cut open the micro-usb plug, and soldered points 1 and 4 visible on the enclosed image (upper figure, and do not link 4 and 5 as is displayed, I think this is for OTG). It was a work of patience as the plug was really small, but I finally managed it!
Good luck with yours!

Finally got my factory cable and guess what. Kindle still won't come on or even go into fastboot. I believe the one I made was a good one.
Question is still in the air, is there some kind of software i suppose to run for fastboot to work or does the kindle suppose to go into fastboot as soon as I plug it into the pc.

It is supposed to boot up when connected to comp and kf.do u think battery is dead? When u say wont come on do you mean screen backlight wont even turn on. If not then try turning off kf plug fb cable into comp then plug into kf. It should boot into fb mode. Also your cable might not be made well(just a suggestion)

When I say it wont come on, I mean the back light is not coming on or the power button wont light up as if something is connected. And yes I thought it was my cable that I made, now the one I bought is here and still no luck. I let it charge before but I'm going to let it charge the entire night and try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the feedback.

I had the same behaviour (or lack of behaviour :/) with my first kf2, on which I had tried to install the KF1 boot - yeah I know, you never read enough before flashing
No reply at all, either with normal usb, charger, or selfmade fastboot cable (tested on my new kf2)...
The thing is as soon as I saw it was bricked, I called Amazon for a solution ("don't know what happened, yesterday evening all was ok, this morning it wouldn't boot"). They asked me to perform a few tests (basically let it charge for 2 hours and try to boot again), and when I called back they just started the replacement procedure: I had a new item within 3 days, and 1 month to send the first back (carriage paid).
I just sent the first one back, so maybe they'll investigate and charge me, but honestly I doubt they'd give a damn

[Q] No power no nothing

I need some serious help. I just got this phone and was getting ready to root it and here is what happened. I opened up odin, unchecked f. reset time, put victory_8G_100528.pit in pit according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SPH-D700-ODIN, then added stockdeoEC05.tar.md5 in PDA. Hit start and the screen said something about partition, the phone shut off and nothing since. I can't even get a charge. The phone has no life at all.
Please help
Try leaving your battery out for 30 min and see if you can get into download mode with usb plugged only. Also, check this thread. Its a guide for bringing a semi bricked epic back to life.

Phone is in downloading mode and I'm downloading the tar from the link you gave me. Any idea what happened so I don't do it again? This was my first time using Odin so I'm not familiar with it. Did I set it up right? I have to learn from my mistakes and I promised my mom m Moment, which I had to reactivate just now. Geez Laweez...
Glad to hear it. I would buy a better usb cable for the future if you are still using the stock one.

The factory usb cable is great for charging but nothing else. You need a good cable for data transfer. I always use my old Blackberry usb cables they are awesome, BB depend on a lot of data sync with the computer their cables are great.

Here we go...
Okay now I can't get the pc to recognize the device. I tried the drivers from the pack ont those links you gave me prior, and even tried some others. Swapped 3 different usb cords too BTW the only thing it will do is go to download mode by taking battery & card out, plugging in usb while holding 1 & power.

Did you reboot your computer after installing the drivers?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Yes I did. Still have the same issue. Last time it worked was when I used Odin and the phone never rebooted. That's what started this thread.
I'm trying to see what happens when I try this on my desktop... Will update soon...
Drivers not working
Even when I tried my desktop (XP, laptop Win 7) I got the same results... Device not recognized...
Even when I click on there was a problem with the device message and go to update driver, it tells me there is no driver installed or needed for this device. I'm hopeful this can be fixed but I can't get the device to be seen and it's stuck in downloading mode. I have searched all the forums and haven't seen this issue yet. Does anyone know how to fix this when it only turns on without the battery in while plugging in the USB and holding 1 & power? I had issues with the device being seen before this happened but man I'm lost as what to try. I even tried the one on the samsung site... of course uninstalling the previous ones and resetting the computer before my attempts.
Are you using the usb ports in the back of the computer that are directly connected to the motherboard?

HELP! i think i bricked my new galasy s 2

i just bought the tmobile galaxy s 2 and was trying to root it. obviously i did something wrong and now its stuck on a black screen. it will not power on AT ALL and when i plug it into the usb it looks for driver QHSYSB_DLOAD. ive tried everything someone please help. i will pay someone to fix my phone if i have to
You need to get in download mode and odin back to stock. Pull battery and put back in. Go to different computer, win XP works best, download/install drivers on PC then plug phone in to PC and download mode should come up.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Also you may have to hold both volume buttons down. It works both ways with and without volume buttons. Search threads how to get in download mode.

It's bricked. I had the same thing happen a few days ago. Just take it back to the T-mobile you bought it from (assuming you bought in-store) and they'll replace it. Seeing your phone recognized as that "QHSYSB_DLOAD" device seems to be an issue with Qualcomm CPUs and happens mainly to HTC phones for obvious reasons. From the hours of research that I did before returning my phone, no one has ever successfully recovered from that kind of brick.
i bought it used so tmobile wont replace it. BUT i registered the phone on samsungs website and it says its still in warranty with them. do you think samsung could replace it?
Yeah I'd do that. They should be able to help you out as long as you don't say you were trying to root it lol. Yours won't vibrate or anything when you press the power button right?

Yup, mine wouldn't vibrate either. The only sign of life was when it was plugged into the PC in an attempt to get into download mode. I read that when you get to the point where the phone can't even get into download mode properly(showing the usual warning about custom OSes, that the jig device won't work, unfortunately. It may be worth a shot though if the price is right.
just shipped out to samsung. hopefully they dont realize why its broken and try to charge me for it

[Q] Did I just brick my Galaxy Nexus?

Forgive me if this is the wrong forum for this but today I was just playing a game on phone when it just crashed,
I thought no big deal I'll just reboot so went to reboot, however it just went into a bootloop and would not reboot. Then I thought ok CWR but I could not boot into this. I then decided to use adb mode to flash back to stock. However in this process adb froze and would not respond anymore and kind of had a blue tearing around everything on the screen. I ended up having to pull the battery.
Now however the phone won't respond at all, Won't turn on, won't go into download mode or anything. I can get my computer and laptop to regonize it when I plug it on with no battery but just says searching for driver for OMAP 4440 then fails. I'm pretty sure I have bricked it and am quite sad. Just looking for confirmation.
Its still alive, I'm pretty sure someone with a bit more knowledge will stop by and help you, but it appears to just be a soft brick.

Not connected to PC - no ADB, no ODIN. Plus, his phone failed while playing game (under heavy load) which gives me a reason to think it's a hardware fault. I would say last chance is to try USB Jig.
If you can get to the bootloader, you should be able to flash a stock Google image

It's a hard brick, mate...
How to fix?:
take the back cover off your phone!
Remove battery, then plug in via USB (computer)
Leave for 3 hours!!! (With battery still unplugged) This should, in a way, "reset" your phone.
Once the three hours are over, plug in battery, and unplug USB.
Press PWR+VOL Down
Wait untill hpone boots into Odin mode then flashstock firmware from Samsung website.I
If this doesn't work, then I'd send it to Mobile Tech Videos, they kann unbrick it via JTAG...
Let me know if it worked, pleasse

He didn't mean playing, as in games. He meant playing around with his phone, root etc....
Thanks for the advice guys, gives me a small amount of hope. I will try leaving it plugged into my computer for 3 hours + and see what happens. Will post back with results.
Otherwise I may try get my hands on a jig. Would it be the same one from the Galaxy SII?
It worked? I'll explain you what happened to me:
I was playing for 2 hours on the game cartoon wars. After that, the phone was a little hot, I went to the desktop and locked the phone. 20 minutes later, I try to unlock the phone and I see the Google logo, and nothing responds. I pulled out the battery several times, tried to enter recovery, fastboot, normal boot. Always freezes. Stock 100%, the mobile has one week.... I think I will have to send it to the SAT....
I have my old HTC magic awaiting me, I gave my galaxy S to my sister...
Brick is such a misused word...
hmm
well if your running with verizon, which i doubt many of you are (prob using the GSM Gnex) you could just as easily bring it to them, lie, and theyll replace your phone. had a droid X, cracked the screen, told verizon it had a hardware fault, and they replaced it with no questions. verizon employees are pretty stupid

You are a horrible person and one of the reasons why decent, hardworking people can't have nice things.
So none of the methods suggested have work so looks like I'm going to have to get a Jig and hope that will do the trick otherwise I'm doomed I think.
when you guys say jig do you mean using resistors on the micro usb port to boot like with the old captivate? i still have the resistors mirco usb plug for that phone, it saved me from a hard brick a few times.

Kindle Fire Dead

Turned my Kindle fire off today, and went back a few hours later to turn it back on and it would not do anything, Wont power on, I have charged it for several hours using multiple chargers. Also tried to boot off the fast boot cable. Im assuming im going to have to send it back fore warranty. Whats my worse case Scenario here since it was rooted and had a custom rom installed. any chances of amazon detecting that. If I cant get it to boot back up will they be able to?
Same thing happened to me. Custom rom and rooted. I returned mine and received a new one without a problem. Imho I don't even think they bothered to check the one I returned.
EDIT......Mine was less than two weeks old and I think that is why I received a new one. I don't know if they fix the ones that run past the return policy period.
