As the title states... Dialer keeps force closing.. Can't make or receive calls. Everything else works fine.. wifi and all apps... This started after I flashed CM7 kang 2. I have tried wiping phone and reinstalled Juggernaught but I still get the same error's. Once I try dialing the screen will go blank. The call will go through to the phone I call but I can't hear them and they can't hear me. Then com.android.phone will FC. The phone stays connected though. I have to actually reboot the phone or the call won't end.... Any help would be appreciated, or any ideas to try. Thanks
Anyone have any ideas ???
Try pulling the phone apk from ur ROM zip and pushin to sys app

Maybe try using tdj' s super wipe script. Its in the dev section. Sounds like something got out of whack. After running the script you will need to reflash your rom.

I ran tdj Super wipe and then flashed jugernaut and still have the same problem. I wonder if it's possible the CM7 Kang install caused a hardware issue.. Hope not as I really do not want an expensive paperweight...
Look for ROM Manager on the market. There's a feature that lets you fix file system permissions. That should hopefully help you with your force close issues.

F Odin to stock with a proper pit file (if available). Odin the default modem. There's no way it won't work after that.

Try clearing cache then dalvick cache then run fix permissions and reboot sometimes works.
If not backup and format data and system and flash ROM zip (download and save ROM zip to sdcard before formatting /system)
It usually is a corrupt system file sometimes happens to me with lots of tweaking and testing LoL

What would be the easiest way that one could install a theme?
And what would be an easy way to roll back to the original theme you once had before i.e the theme the ROM came with.
I want to try out a few themes but Im wondering is it just a .zip file that you flash through CWM or whatever the recovery is and... What if I dont like the theme I flashed? Is there an easy way to roll back to what I had previously without wiping the phone and starting from scratch?
Hope someone can provide some valid input and help??...
~btw im running Calkulins E4GT ROM v2.9.2 with EL29 Kernel and EL29 Baseband and Modded PRL 11115 for roaming on verizons network in bad Sprint areas.
This is what I do. Download theme, go to CWM, wipe cache and davlik, flash theme.
To go back, use calkulins modified wipe (no data loss) and reflash rom

Usually if u flash any ROM doesn't it usually wipe the data anyways? And can u send me a link to the "no data loss" wipe please?
If you are just flashing he same rom, you usually don't need to factory reset. So, for what you need with getting rid of a theme, just flash modified wipe, then the rom and you won't lose anything, except the theme.
Let me find the link

I just got my phone and had to do alot of reading on how to just root it...I couldnt stop there.. So I picked the ROM I liked the best.. It was the Peoples Choice ROM.... I downloaded it and installed in via CWM... It worked great for about 2 days.. Even wifi tether... Then it started to freeze and almost like it was rebooting... But the only thing that happened was the lights on the bottom would stay on... Ive had to do about 4 clean installs and everytime it freezes... Im not saying the ROM is bad.. But maybe I didnt do something right... Im new to this phone and all these different kernals, Roms etc...
All I did was d/l put on the phone via usb cable, chose a kernal during setup and still the same problem... I had to flash a stock rooted ROM because I thought I did a backup in CWM but I guess I didnt...
Please help... I dont know what I did or need to correctly do to get this ROM to work....
Are you sure the download wasn't bad? Try downloading it again and then check the md5sum to make sure, bad downloads happen more often than you'd think
Noob question... How do I check the md5sum?
On your computer, or on your phone me in terminal emulator (download md5sum for windows binary if you're doing it on your computer):
Code:
cd path/to/download/folder
md5sum fileNameHere.zip

I'm a bit stumped, but maybe you could try using TWRP to flash the Roms. I'd recommend using version 2.4.1.0 in Naddict's thread, as version 2.4.4.0 doesn't seem to work as well for some people. You'll have to redo your backups, as TWRP and CWM use different methods for making nandroids, so your CWM ones won't work on TWRP.

The thread I posted you to has the various TWRP and CWM versions which are flashable from within the recoveries themselves. All you have to do is go into CWM and flash the TWRP zip in the thread.
I don't think your download was bad or the md5 check was bad. I suspect since you said it worked well for several days that at some point you downloaded a bad app or something corrupted some data. I would imagine a wipe of cache and dalvik and fixing permissions would have been the first thing you should have done before reflashing or anything else. Oh well water under the bridge now. What kernel did you choose during your installation?
Please try flashing the rom again, make sure you do factory reset, wipe dalvik and wipe cache and do a clean install. If you have any problems or questions go to the thread itself you will find that all of us are very helpful and will welcome you to The People

Title is pretty self explantory. Can't send or receive MMS with stock app. It just gets stuck at sending when I try to send, and fails to download when I receive one. I know this has been asked a million times, as I've already scoured xda, google, and anything else I could think of. I've also tried various fixes. So what I'm going to attempt to do here is list my info, as well as the fixes I've tried, and hope that someone more knowledgeable will be able to see what I'm missing or have other ideas to try. Because frankly, I'm tapped. I know this is long and very detailed and boring to read, but I implore you to stay with me, and if you think might be able to help, read the entire post. These are a lot of the questions/info I've been asked by other people who've tried to help.
Phone: Samsung Epic 4G Touch (obviously)
Carrier: Sprint
Android Version: 4.2.2
ROM: Sniper's BAKED BlackBean 8.0 (03/25/13 build)
Let me say that I've been running Sniper's BlackBean since January, updating each time he releases a new build. When I first flashed to it, I had no problems with MMS. And the MMS problems did NOT coincide with flashing anything new, ROM or otherwise. I don't believe it's a ROM-related issue, as lots of other guys in the ROM thread have tried to help me with troubleshooting/fixes and MMS seems to be working for everyone else, just like it was for me until it suddenly stopped working about 3 weeks ago. Since then, here are some things I've tried to fix it.
-Sending an MMS to myself
-Unchecking "auto-retrieve" in the stock messaging app's settings
-Unchecking "delete old messages" in the stock messaging app's settings
-Wiping cache & Dalvik cache
-Dirty flashing the ROM again, with & without wiping caches
-Wiping data, cache, and Dalvik cache and reflashing the ROM
-Going into system/app folder and replacing current Mms.apk with another trusted working Mms.apk, fixing permissions and rebooting.
-APN backup and restore. Downloading a verified working APNs-conf.xml. Pushing the APN Backup & Restore app to system, disabling ICS check, backing up current APNs, deleting current APNs, restoring the verified working xml, and rebooting. Lots of people swear by this fix. Didn't work for me.
-PC Odin all the way back to stock rooted GB27 w/ full wipe, using Mobile Odin to flash a safe AGAT recovery. Then flashing the ROM and gapps, essentially giving myself (theoretically) a COMPLETELY clean start. Sidenote: MMS works fine on TouchWiz, stock and custom TW ROMs.
-While on stock rooted GB27, updating PRL and Profile before flashing back to BlackBean
-Flashing to a custom TouchWiz based ROM where MMS works, then flashing back to BlackBean.
-Downloading GoSMS and going into its MMS settings to customize the MMSC, MMS Proxy & Port. MMS works fine with GoSMS. I can send and receive with no problems. This leads me to believe my APNs are fine, otherwise I wouldn't think GoSMS would work sending/receiving MMS.
Opening "Phone Info" and selecting different things for 'Preferred Network Type'. I almost thought this had fixed it this morning, by switching to CDMA auto (PRL). Suddenly I was able to send and receive MMS with the stock app. I tested for 30 minutes and everything worked fine. Then I rebooted my phone and it stopped working again. I tried repeating the same steps, but couldn't get it to work anymore.
I think that's everything. I'm at my wit's end here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If needed, I can provide screenshots of settings, APNs, or anything that would helpful in diagnosing this and hopefully getting it working.

There is a reason that it is 'random'. The rom flashes replace the APN conf file in /system but that file does not get read every time. It only gets read when the database is recreated (app data wipe for example). It is rarely reread. Once it is reread, if it selects the wrong APN, your hosed. With the updates APNs here, I corrected the APN conf file so that whenever it is reread, it still works.

So i decided to go from illusion to stockaroma v2 and once i got the phone setup it said i was running low on storage space so later on i rebooted my phone and i got android.phone has crashed blabla
Upon rebooting it kept crashing and crashing so i decided to wipe and reflash stockaroma but funny thing is everytime id wipe and start over I'd get same settings apps and stuff already preloaded as if cwm wasnt even wiping i tried couple times reflashing the rom didnt work..
So i decided to restore my backup now when i went ahead to do that o couldn't because it was saying there is no files ? And i flashed a rom i had on my sdcard but even tho i wiped i got some stuff preloaded which is not normal ? And now i got like 7 times the same directory it looks like this : sdcard/emulated/0/0/0/0 ??
Everything is messed up and down i do not want to go through odin since i have a damn slow computer which shutdowns by its own now imagine me flashing and it crashes...
So my question is how may i restore my backup ? I have like many "0" directory just not sure which one to delete as each contains different file ??
Please help me out im not a noob but this is the first time ive seen this

Sorry but Odin seems to be your best bet or go buy an external sdcard and reader (as I've advertised on all forums before). This is also why we say to update your recovery to the latest one constantly, in many threads and most OP posts of most roms. Good luck. Also always having a backup of all your contemts on memory is recommended before messing with flashing ROMs. Live and learn.

I say live and learn cause you didn't have thing backed up like you should and you made a mistake. I've yet to see anyone have duplicate /0 for that reason and I'm pretty sure that wasn't the cause. Its cause you weren't on the latest or even up to date to handle 4.2.2. I never said you weren't careful but in lots of the threads including illusion my post and Ramsay's, I think, says make sure you have updated your recovery and backup your sdcard contents. Just saying and its a friendly heads up, also advised you on external sdcard. No need to be defensive, just giving pointers and helping, bud.

In TWRP there's an option to only wipe internal sd if you want to try that.
Or maybe if you Odin the stock firmware it'll kill the symlink or whatever is holding it there. Then try to delete.
Or factory reset?

Use Odin and switch to the latest twrp, lots of ppl have been having issues with cwm lately as its not updated with the latest flashing scripts and such, most cwm recoveries can't handle preload or wipe everything needed for 4.2 roms, try twrp and u shouldn't have anymore issues...

Isn't there a way you can extract specific data from them? Never had to myself but I swear I've seen it mentioned somewhere.

(In TWRP) Restore>Advanced>Select the partitions you want to restore
There is a similar option in CWM6 (at least there was last time I used it on my old phone) but I don't remember the specifics.

Yeah, that's an option in both, but I was referring to the ability to just pull a certain app and data out of one of those partition backups.
