On stock: looking for tether and volume - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I'm running stock on vzw gn. I'm looking for a rom that will allow me to tether and to boost volume.
It seems all roms provide tether. Do any boost volume?
Stock is 4.1.1. I don't need new features of 4.2.1. Should I stick with 4.1 (CM 10) or would 4.2 (CM 10.1) provide greater stability, battery life, or something?

you can use this mod to increase volume in any rom
as for upgrade if u dont need the features, then my suggestion is dont upgrade to 4.2,i feel 4.1.2 is a lot more refined & faster

[Q] Cyanogenmod 9 Not Full ICS Features??

Hi there
I just flashed cm9 (latest build) for my galaxy w and i am overall very impressed with its performance. However, when i installed 'onavo extend' i am not able to use it because it uses a new VPN feature that google brought in to ICS. I thought that this version of cm9 would have this feature but im told by onavo support that because im using a custom ROM, untill this feature is fully added to cm9 i will be unable to use the onavo extend service. I was wondering if arco68's version cm9 will support this in the future, can anyone help me?????:cyclops:

Although I don't know about this feature, I can tell you that having it on Cm9 depend on if this feature will be implemented by the cyanogen mod team.
Edited. Sorry for misspelling.

[Q] Need help with Camera

Where can I find a modded Galaxy S3 camera app, that can toggle the shutter sound? I have 4.1.2 camera, but the quality sucks on it, and it lacks options I missed in the Stock camera. Thanks if anyone can help me
Are you rooted? What Rom are u using? That option is included in most custom roms, most of which have the stock camera apk. I am using FreeGS3 by clark44. The cam is amazing and the rom is quick and smooth with no major issues and updates are released fairly often.

I use CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2) by Olddroid and with some tweaks that I made (froze some system apps and disabled autostart entries) I got 185MB of free RAM when I boot into Android. And I can tell you that it works flawlessly. On my phone it's faster than stock Android ROM. And don't bother benchmark scores. They don't always indicate that your system is slow.
For my is AOKP jb-mr1 (jb+) by erikcas http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173572
Very stable, is my every day rom
Which bugs or problems do they have guys?

You can face some camera, radio, headphone, usb or some stability issues with other ROMs but the one that I use doesn't have any of 'em. With normal use, my standard battery lasts after 2 days.

I froze all the apps that I don't use. When I boot my phone, it uses only about 90-95 MB of RAM and by the way I'm using a Jelly Bean (4.2.2) ROM. I also prevented apps from running in the background so they don't drain my battery's juice. I underclocked the CPU to 748 MHz and selected smartassv2 & SIO.
I'm using stock battery.
I used Autostarts and System Tuner apps to make all that tweaks. Be careful. Don't disable Fused Location, System UI and Android System.

You know, I didn't think I liked stock ROMs until I started using FTL 4.3. I'm a convert, less settings than I was used to previously, but less headaches, better battery, and just generally happier.
I'm sure I'll get lured into a custom ROM again in the future, but for now I'm enjoying a fully functional phone that never reboots or crashes.
I love stock, especially AR. But this won't benefit if it's not coming to Toro lol

Nexus 7 done!
today i will finish Maguro and we're ready to upload and release...
Still some issue on quick settings... i will provide to fix
Wait, doesn't AR have tons of customizations? Wouldn't that be the opposite of a stock esque rom?
And what's FTL?

[Q] No bbm notification sound

I have downloaded Beanstalk 4.3.1 and I am not getting notification sound no matter what I do.
I can get notification sound with 4.4 Beanstalk and also with other roms 4.3.1. I have tried all settings
Any ideas?
Thanks
I tried a bunch of roms with bbm...as have others. Seems a lot of 4.3 roms have no sound...and some the default sounds only works...nothing else. To me the default sound is way to quiet.
4.1.2 touchwiz roms are the only ones that bbm works totally on. At the moment I'm on stock. Best 4.1.2 battery life I find, after some tweaking.
I can't recall what 4.3 roms have default sound only working....but you could keep trying til you find one, or stick with 4.1.2 touchwiz.
This doesn't go for all phones I'm sure....but our latest official version is 4.1.2. I know other phones with higher official versions work fine, bit our 4.2.2 and higher are custom dev made roms.
Sorry.

Thanks
Thanks for the prompt response
I get notification sounds with bbm using Slimbean 4.3.1 but I prefer Beanstalk and am so frustrated that the notification sound does not work with this rom
Seems to be hit or miss with 4.3. Haven't actually tried 4.2.2.
Its not a bbm issue, cause its fine with other phones that have official 4.3.
An unfortunate side effect of unofficial android versions I guess.
