So I downloaded GoSMSpro on my note 2. Once I opened the app I got "com.jb.gosms.weber.advanced finn" in the notification bar. I'm sure that I'm overlooking something extremely simple, but it just has me dumbfounded. I've searched with no success, so I thought that I would turn here and see if anyone else has ran in to this. I was running GoSms on my Evo LTE with no problems. Please help!
Look into appp settings.
Otherwise go to app manager in settings and click on the app you downloaded .
Scroll down and select disable notifications

I like the new feature of ICS that allows you to disable apps. I used it immediately to remove the VZW bloatware that was pre installed (back up assistant).
But I may of taken it a step too far. I disabled the default calculator app ( just happen to like realcalc better). When I did that it screwed up my calendar. All of my events were MIA. Luckily I caught it before I did anything else and couldn't pinpoint the problem. - undisabled the calculator and every thing went back to normal.
So, like it says in the warning use caution when disabling system apps. And hopefully my little boo boo helps some one else out.
Anyone else disable a app and notice any strange or unexpected results???

I disabled Books, Vz backup, and phone (I'm using another dialer). So far no issues.
I also used autostarts to keep a few other apps from starting automatically all the time.

And also thanks to psohn, going to try autostarts.
Can someone please help? My wifes GN2 gallery app has been deleted somehow. Her phone is stock and unrooted. From my understanding root is required to delete a system app, so I'm not sure how it happened. Does anyone have any ideas on how to recover the gallery, aside from factory reset? Maybe an apk? Thanks!
SOLVED
It's probably not deleted. Open your app draw, then click menu and select hide applications. Find gallery and uncheck it.

I've checked the app drawer, and it's not hidden. I have also looked in the application manager, it's missing from there as well.

Okay that's strange because you do need root to remove a system app. Silly question, have you scrolled to the bottom of app manager where the disabled apps are and made sure it wasn't accidently disabled?
Also, have your rebooted and seen I'd it just shows back up

Thank you guys for the replies. I have performed a reboot, however I have not scrolled to the bottom of the app manager to see if it was disabled. I only looked for it in the alphabetical list. I'll try that when she gets home with her phone.

Is there anyway to disable S-Voice?
Looked in settings and I can't find anything.
S-Voice seems to have a mind of it's own.
It starts by itself and it can be quite disturbing in the wrong setting.
I am not rooted and don't feel confident enough to root.
Thanks,
Shofar1

Its classed as a system app, so there is no way to uninstall it if you havent rooted. You can use apps such as titanium backup to do so if you have rooted though.
If not, you should be able to find it in settings > application manager > all > s voice > disable
I uninstalled it so cant confirm it that second option i suggested will work.
I disabled it in app manager like heartsjonmon says above. I haven't seen it since, thank God. I used to accidently hit the home button through the cover and set it off while I was carrying it. I am so glad that annoyance is gone! What was Samsung thinking!?!

Actually looking back at my posts it looks like I just unchecked everything in the s Voice menu and that alone seems to be enough. I can't even find the app in my app manager. If you look at my posts, you will find two other suggestions that other people made top disable it too which should also work.

Done. But no use. 2 more screenshots..
I have had the same annoying pop-up ads that looked like this "your Android memory is too low, please clean it up" or something like that, when I pressed "OK" button I just was redirected to "Du Booster" app. So Ad-blocking app is your friend, and for me the best is Adaway.:good:
I had these starting yesterday. I just had to restore my phone to a backup in the end. I got rid of lots of apps and the aware ones didn't find anything

adblock plus is what i use and it works perfectly.
Adblock Adaway or the xposed mod minminguard. As long as you are rooted they should all stop the adds and pop ups

If you are not rooted the only option is to uninstall the app which is giving you the pop up. I don't know of any pop up blocker that doesn't require root

Yes... I am trying to do the same .. but unable to find the app that is causing it .. most of my apps installed are from reviews from top Android forums and few games only.
I have uninstalled almost 10 apps in suspicion .. but still can't trace the culprit.
Hurray... Finally got hold of the culprit.
It was named com.scloud.... (Didn't remember the full name)
Initially thought it was system app but when going thru all suspicious names found that there is an option to uninstall which is not available for sys apps.
After I installing it alk these ads are gone.

I use a Samsung Galaxy S3 running the latest nightly build of Cyanogenmod 11. Somehow or another, the settings app disappeared. It's not in the app drawer, when I try to access the app using the quick settings panel, nothing happens. And when I try to drag an app from the home screen to the "App Info" tab I get a pop-up notification saying "application is not installed". I've tried updating my phone but it didn't work and all of my back-ups are not working either! I'm thinking it may be the Trebuchet launcher that comes with CM 11 hiding the app shortcut. I've went into the file manager and did some digging and I did find some files related to the app, but what worries me is that I couldn't find the .apk file. Help would be greatly appreciated! I'm attaching some screenshots for reference.

that's easy just get the Setting APK from any AOSP/CM11 rom for your S3 and use Root Browser to put it into System/Priv-App set permissions to 0644/rw-r--r-- then reboot your phone and you should have it but preferably use the Settings Apk that is made for your rom
Do I find the ROM for my S3 that contains the app on the internet? If so, do you think you could link me to a website? I'm not having much luck here. I've been searching for hours and I still have no luck.

I'm assuming that the model number is SPH-L710, since it's not one of the international models. My service provider is Sprint. And I am currently running the very latest CM 11 build. I can't give a specific name because that's something the CM Updater could tell me. But that's only accessible through the settings app or if an update notification pops up in the notification shade.
