[Q] Insufficient Storage Available? Help - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Every time i try to install an app from the play store, I get an "Insufficient Storage Available".
Anyone ever run into this problem in general.?
I have plenty of storage.
Internal Memory Available=6.29 Gbs
External Memory Available=8.76 Gbs
Currently Running Slim Bean 4.2.1 d2spr Beta 2 Rom.
I have even wiped cache and reflashed the Slim Gapps .zip.
Still to no avail.
I can't post in the Original Development Forum cause I'm new to the forum

I've had this problem before...the fix involved deleting a .dex file somewhere...try looking it up, I dont remember the specifics
Also, try clearing Play store cache

I ended up getting this same issues. Tried a few things with no luck. Ended up going back to a backup.. I wish I knew the cause of this. But I hope it doesn't happen again!

Cannot Install anything from market

Let me start off by stating I am far from a newb. I have been rooting and flashing android ROMs since the G1. This is the first time I have run across this. My wife's DInc wont let her install any apps. Install unsuccessful each tome and started on stock ROM. I just rooted wiped and flashed cm7. Still same deal. I have never encountered this. Thinking corrupt internal memory. Anyone else have an idea? Tried wiping market cache data etc... tried signing into Google talk... funny thing is out of warranty by one day now. Awesome timing.

how new is the inc? have you checked that the PRL settings are correct? what message do you get when you try to install apps? it wouldn't hurt to do a *228 just to ensure all settings are written correctly.
I had the same problem but it turned out that the apps couldnt interact with my sd card. does it display a pop up error message when you try to install an app?
Last 2 DIncs I rooted, the SD that came with it was Not FAT32. Those had the same issue you describe, I reformatted SD, worked fine.

I'm having the same issue.. I thought it was from me messing around with the provider #'s like 310004 310012 etc.. im on verizon... cant install anything... get a popup of can install on usb or usb storage.... pic attached. ( http://db.tt/0aLvpMJ )
Well... it let me update these... http://db.tt/wCkP1we
But not these.... http://db.tt/NtTKVRc
I'm stumped... all permissions are set correctly. I've erased data and cache multiple times from the market... I've *228'd... and rebooted MANY TIMES!

Thats the exact same problem i had.
Use root explorer and navigate to /sdcard/.android_secure and delete the file "smdl2tmp1.asec" if it is not in that location then it could be in /mnt/secure/asec/
After i deleted the file it worked just fine with no errors.
Does it install if you unmount the SDcard with the system settings first?
I tried doing that but it didn't work for me. But it doesn't hurt to try.

Ahh, I had an issue with it a while back that was fixed by unmounting the sdcard before installing them. I'd read about it in this article before, maybe it will help someone here: http://lifehacker.com/5714300/how-to-fix-installation-unsuccessful-errors-in-the-android-market
Seems like it mostly covers problems with updates, though.

Internal phone storage is getting low..how to fix this?

Got this after i flashed acs ics v4 on acs icsv 3.5. I cleaned cache and dalvik before i flashed v4. and now i have a pop up saying internal memory low.
clicking on that shows 485 mb used and 0 left.
also i cant access almost any apps since market force closes and i cant even install astro to access system folders.
tried moving apps to sd card but that fails also and my go launcher crashes and reboots.
How do i fix this?
Also just noticed.. power menu has POWER OFF only?????

Have you tried moving some apps to the SD card?
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > On SD card
Tried all that nothing worked.wiped everything and r installed v3.5

By chance how many apps have you installed aside from the ones inlcuded in the rom? If a lot you may want to uninstall whatever you can then use root explorer to delete unneccessary apps from "system/app". You also may have had a bad flash....like something may be corrupt. Try to reflash if nothing else works. ACS v4 works fine for me

Use Titanium Backup to move a lot of apps to your SD card. Just don't move system apps or widgets.
I keep getting the same message and I still have 43mb left

The message is triggered when you drop below 50 MB.

Your link to the "fix" points back to this thread you might want to fix that!
Hey try link2sd instead of app2sd using tb or something like it
I have more than 100 apps and still 95mb left

Other than resurrecting a year old thread... I've also been facing the same issue. I think apps have been getting bigger, and the base Cyanogenmod is also creeping up in size for our older devices.
I wonder if creating symbolic links from /data/app/ to /sdcard/app would work?

I know this thread pertains to your issue, but just an FYI--this is the forum for the original Epic 4G... not the Touch version.
The only way around this issue that I've found was a factory reset or getting annoyed and starting over with either a new or the same ROM. Sucks, but that's been the only solution I've found for this issue.

Couldn't install on USB Storage or SD Card

Today I started getting a strange error when downloading select apps onto my internal SD card. Most apps download just fine, but some of them have this error when I try to download them. Since it's an internal SD, I can't mount/unmount, so I'm trying to figure out why this is happening. I am currently running Nocturnal Venum v1.0, but when I was on the older version before upgrading today, I never had this problem.
Apps that cause this error:
Aldiko
Sprint NBA Mobile
Cordy
Running Fred
There seems to be no correlation between the size of the app and whether this happens. When trying to restore them through TB though, TB just freezes and I need to reboot my phone if I want to use TB again.
Has anyone else gotten this error? If so, how did you fix it?
unmount sd card, go back to market and install apps, then remount sd. been a bug on a lot of ICS builds
edit: i didn't read well enough. I see you already crossed this bridge
That's just Titanium Backup. I have several apps that do that every time. Just manually redownload those apps from Play store. Delete the backups for the apps that freeze and redownload, and rebackup. Fixed the issue for a few of those for me.

No, as I said in the post, it freezes when restoring with TB and i get this error when installing with the play store

TB freezes on several of apps everytime for me too. As for the market there are 3 fixes that I know of: 1) unmount usb when installing 2) use a stock kernel 3) clear data/cache for google play and download manager, then reboot.
It could also be a bad ROM flash.

Thanks for the help but I've already tried all of them and none of them work :/
I don't think it's a bad ROM flash because I reflashed and redownloaded 3x and the same thing is happening, oddly enough. I guess I'll have to deal with it.
If I remember, FD02 had those problems. It's worked ok again in FD10 and FD16 so far. Can't remember about FD05. You can always unmount your sd card, load or restore the apps, then remount. That is a good work around.

Ever find a solution? I still don't have it. I have had issues with this in the past, as well. I was running ICS a while ago but went back to GB for this reason. I have to be able to get medscape or epocrates. I just tried ICS again and it's greatly improved, but I see this appears still broken.

So, the issue (at least one of them) is that apps that require installation on the SD won't install. CY9 has issues with this, as well, per this link

If anyone is still having this problem, mine was solved installing the latest ICS kernel. My problem started because I accidentally installed FD10 instead of FE10. But when I installed the right one, the latest kernel for the latest AOKP biuld, it started working again. Might be worth checking which kernel you might have installed.
Deleting smdl2tmp1.asec worked for me. Would post link to more info but not allowed. Sadface.
where is this file located -- nm found it
Uninstall then re install!
All I did was uninstall then re install the app, this sounds kinda risky because I thought I may lose the app completely, but it worked  ! I did this with exDialer, but have not attempted to see if it will work with any other apps with this error. Sometimes just persevering and repeatedly trying to install the damn thing works (but not usually!) Hope this helps

[Q] Contact Storage is showing 9.7 GB!

Hi Guys,
So my phone started showing me a warning that the device was running low on space. So I started to check what's causing this because I don't have a lot of stuff on my device storage. So under Applications it shows some 13Gb used and on further investigation, it shows that Contact Storage is using 9.72 GB of space.
Trust me, I'm not that popular.
I tried to clear data but it just won't clear the data. I tried to wipe data using Titanium Back up but on hitting wipe, it FCs TiBu.
I really need some help and it'll really be appreciated!
Thanks
Hi, you could try factory reset, but that would erase everything off your phone.

Yeah, I sort of want to keep that as a last resort!

Not enough storage when updating apps

Hi all,
I have a rooted phone and constantly keep storage and performance best I can using a number of apps like SD Maid, Rom toolbox, etc.
My problem is that while it is clear that that all storage from phone to external SD card have plenty of free space, I'm running into a problem when attempting to update larger apps such as games from the play store. They fail do to insufficient space.
Any suggestions as to the cause? The only info I can provide related to cause is that this seems to happen after I take HD videos with camera. However, those videos do indeed reside on external memory card which obviously has plenty of space just like both other storage options.
Any help is appreciated.
Anyone have ideas as to cause? This is actually getting worse. Thanks
Happened to an older phone of mine. Basically had to to a complete wipe and format of the system and Sdcard. Sometime theres toms of left over junk from old apps. Backup you data before you attempt .

If you look in /data/app and /data/app-lib you'll find duplicates there (app-1 and app-2).
What i do is delete both in both folders, then reboot into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik, then boot the phone up. That should solve the issue.

Hi,
Thank you much for response. Yes, you are right and this was one of two things I found on my own that fixed the issue. However, after it did not fully solve the issue, I finally ended up finding the perfect and easiest solution to this common issue. I ran a popular storage utility app and cleared all corpse files. That instantly solved the problem with every single app with this issue.
With that said, and while I do genuinely appreciate every reponse from this forum and others, replying by simply stating to backup, wipe/reset all and restore backup rom is honesty far from helpful. I knew that and would not have posted this issue if that was the only solution. Seriously, it is quite frustrating to read such nonsense. There is always a much simpler alternative and proven here. That is why most will post here for advice in the first place.
Anyways,
Thanks again.
