[Q] Changing the color of the menu - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry for the new thread, i don't know how to search for it, that's why I made a new thread. I have a Note N7100 white, and I would like to change the color(skin) of the menu/settings/messages etc. that is black to white. That's surely from android, but if it's someone who could tell me if it's possible, I would appreciate. I searched in all the settings, and I haven't found nothing. So the question would be >>> How can I change the skin from black to white?

they set it to black for a reason.
when amoled is forced to display white, it consumes more than twice the amount of power of an LCD screen trying to display white. you'll burn through your battery too quickly.
when an amoled is forced to display black, it switches itself off and consumes no power, which is why it is set to black by default.

If u want to change your background/color of messages/sms menu .. 1. Choose messages(app) 2. Hit menu touch key and choose settings and there u can change your display options..
I hope this helps for you (thought u wanted ro change only messages/sms menu)

Black and White text on the Start Menu Screen - WM6.5

Hello all
First off.... sorry if this has been touched on else where. I've searched the site and can't find a pot like this however will apologise if I have missed one.
Ok, so.... has anyone else found that when they press the start button to access the start menu that the text underneath the program icons is either in a black or white font? With mine there doesn't seem to be any pattern to this either (e.g every other program name is white). I can have 5 white then 7 black and then 2 white and so on. I'm guessing you get the picture. This is making program selection super difficult, as if i choose a light back ground I can't see the white text, and visa versa.
This is also changes too. If I rest my device then they change the order of blacks and whites. If i change the theme it has the same affect as well.
So... does anyone one else have the same problem? Anyone get a fix? or magic cab. to remove this problem?
Thanks in advance

Are you on Vodafone?
If so, this is what you need to do, it's a slightly bad ROM flash from 6.1 to 6.5. It did this to me.
Remove any files you have on the phone's memory, then carry out a hard reset. then re-flash the 6.5 ROM. you should then have a light grey back ground and all black text.

help whats the go

Something has happened parts of my web pages are now a light cream colour instead of the usual white. This also is present in some menu areas and also same with facebook app.
Example in the facebook app is the box to write your comments in is a light creamy colour same with the comments left by others. I have checked my settings but couldn't see anything that could change this.
I did replace the lcd screen with a genuine screen.
Any ideas whats the go? Thx
the screen you replaced wasn't genuine then. I replaced my screen previously too and all the blues were greenish.

XDA forum dark theme needed!

Many of us are rocking AMOLED displays on our devices now, and there's no telling how many hours of battery life I've burnt up viewing the forums here with their light yellow/white backgrounds. Please throw together a dark theme for us so we can double our battery life and spend twice as much time here!
Black and dark grey background elements with grey or red text would be awesome. Visually, I prefer the current themes, but it would make a big difference for all of us with AMOLED displays, since a black pixel isn't burning any energy, but a white pixel is burning as much as possible (unlike LCDs where the backlight is on no matter what color is displayed.) Also, my girlfriend will greatly appreciate it when I'm browsing late at night in bed.
Also, please send me a PM when this is implemented so I can change it ASAP. Thanks, and I'll definitely donate if this happens!
There is a black theme for the app, switch to it from settings, and you can find themed apks with many colors
Correct, if your on an Android device, the XDA app can be set to a dark theme.
Just open the app, tap Menu key > More > Settings > Display Style. Change that from Light to Dark. Thats it!
Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but mine (XDA Pro app) doesn't have that setting.
Under Display Style, I only have the options:
XDA Premium
Simple
XDA Free
Am I missing something?
I tried updating, but I'm currently on newest, and a re-install didn't fix anything.
Making it darker would be terrific, but I'm not sure I want to install a themed APK just for that. I enjoy the market updating things too much to try and keep track of one more thing manually.
I got some time to try and play with the settings for a bit, and the setting labeled as "Simple" is a dark display, and the other two have varying levels of brightness.
Other than that, I did not have time to do an in-depth comparison of the differences.

Why can't the settings menu and other UI be in black instead of white?

Is there any way to change this? I mean having a white background on phone contact when dialing or when going to change some setting or whatever isn't exactly 'battery friendly'.
I remember the very old HTC UI back in the Diamond days being black, why cant we have it in black today? Or at least the option to change it to black.
If there is an obvious way to do this already then I apologize ahead.
Cheers
you can always theme it yourself

Didnt think of that, but still I think alot of the Sense stuff are on the One X are unecessary.
Will check it out, thanks!
white is acctualy more battery friendly on a LCD screen.
With much black you need to increase brightness to have higher contrast, making battery life worse.
What you are saying are correct - if you have a oled screen like the one on one S or sgs2. But the specific color on one x doesn't affect battery, the brightness does.

[Q] Question - Is there a way to invert the colors on the e-mail app

I've searched a lot for this and did not find anything. I would like to change the colors on the note 2 email apk. This is, to have a white background with black text. Is there a moded apk or a way of doing this? Can anybody explain it to me, please?

I read somewhere that there are 2 different themes for different gnote 2 versions. you can try googling it for the apk. What drives me crazy though, is that the screen dims significantly when I open the mail app, does that happen to you? going back to home screen or opening the mail settings restores the brightness. In mail itself, it goes dark, too dark to read I think.
Brightess is just fine, no diming problems.

to resolve the issue with display brightness in stock e-mail app: go to settings / power-saving - and disable "background color" option (change background color to save power in internet) - this will affect both the native browser AND the e-mail app (don't ask me how is e-mail also "internet"... )
There is an option under settings > accessibility, which allows you to 'invert colours'. Select this. Give it a go. White backgrounds will become black and vice versa.

I am after the same help!
This is a massive PITA for me coming form an iPhone where everything was easy to read. Why Samsung needed a black background and grey text is beyond me?
