Hey all,
Trying to send MMS with my Desire HD and it just wont send any!!
I am using a ICS ASOPX rom, i tried cm7.2 (stable) and i was able to send one to myself, thought brilliant!
Tried to send another, just would fail/time out. Same as the ICS rom.
any idea's?
Or is my phone just crap.
Also it doesn't seem like a carrier problem, i put my sim card into a iPhone and it sent/received mms no worries
I believe (don't quote me on this lol) that its a known issue on ICS/JB
Try using CM7 again and see what happens. Also what carrier are you using, which country and have you checked the MMS/APN settings?
The Corner approves..

You just clicked this cause its hidden didn't you?
I am in Australia using Vodafone AU at the moment, but soon to be on amaysim (optus).
Checked my APN settings hundreds of times, entered them manually, got them off the sim, carrier website still no dice.
Hopefully it isn't a ICS/JB issue because this ICS rom kicks ass!
CM7 just feels so old
I did try it for a few hours (CM7) and it was doing the same thing.
Hoping it isn't a JB/ICS bug
Turn ON mobile data and it shuld work.
Otherwise restart your device and try it again.
Tried with data on/off, WiFi on/off,
Still no joy.
Flashed a different radio, still no difference

May be onto something.
Flashed back to stock, MMS now magically works no problems
Back to stock as in an RUU? Or flashing a rooted stock ROM?

I grabbed a rooted stock ROM and MMS has been flawless so far.
Downside is....HTC sense, and android 2.3
I have the same problem, perfect mms on rooted stock rom, but on Jelly Bean it refuses to send the damn message....
Same here, However work fine in CM7
Same issues here. Using CM7 no problems. Using a JB rom (tried jellytime & codefirex), I can get Vodafone Au to work if all the settings (internet & mms) are in a single APN. When I switch to Optus (Au), I can send mms if I use mms only settings but have no internet. I am unable to combine all the settings into a single APN as with Vodafone. If I use the recommended APNs for internet and mms (separate APNs) I can no longer send mms. Then if I switch on wifi, I can. Has to be some sort of jb bug.
This is getting very frustrating.:what:

I couldn't send mms on Telstra AU (Jelly Time ROM) for a couple days and I spent HOURS changing settings until I FINALLY managed to get it to work.
Don't bother ringing the telco and getting help for anyone thinking of doing that - they have NO idea what is going on.
Anyway, I found what worked for me was doubling up the settings.
Telstra comes with 4 APN settings, normally the Telstra.wap is selected as default. Some phones only have the one setting (Telstra . wap) and everything works - everyone is different for some reason...
ANYWAY... the problem thereafter is that the other 3 settings are all fighting for the MMS profile, and it basically - screws everything up.
So... if you have other APN settings there, modify them - go to APN type and delete the ,mms part ONLY. I found deleting the APNs to stop my internet from working etc. and only leave the proper .mms APN with the mms setting
If that doesn't solve your problem (and it didn't for me the 2nd time I installed a Jelly Time ROM) - add the ,mms to the default Telstra . wap and leave the Telstra . mms, add the mms settings to the .wap APN (MMSC, MMS Proxy and MMS Port etc.)
If that doesn't work, modify the Telstra.mms to have the Proxy and Port set to the same values as in the MMS Proxy and MMS Port, also change it to PAP or CHAP
After a reboot this should work...
So my two settings look like the below:

Get rid of the spaces in the MMSC between the dot and the com and change the 0 to an o... says I can't post links to "outside websites"
Will this work on other services? I don't know... but may help people play around with the settings and see if it does fix their issues.
Hope it helps...

It's like u just checked MMS APN, nothing else. Except u now can't get data connection, so I think this is not very helpful.
I have the same problem with CM11 KitKat. When I'm sending MMS, I have to switch APN to MMS settings, and for internet I have to change back to Internet APN. On CM10.1 all worked fine... But, for me it's not a big deal, cause I rarely send MMS, so...

just got desire z couple weeks ago and have been playing with it for a while.
just noticed that i cannot send mms since 2 days ago and have been looking around for solutions but nothing seems to work
am running stock htc sense 2.2
i can receive mms but i cannot send
error says: Unable to send message after multiple attempts (Generic network error)
i use at&t and my settings for apn are as follow:

i've read posts saying that if i have my delivery reports and read reports ticked i may not be able to send but i unchecked all those and still cannot send, i've contacted htc and at&t and they both say my settings are correct and should be able to mms. (which i think it's weird because i can receive mms but i cant?)
please help !
For the MMSC setting I have:
http://mmsc.cingular.com
Don't know if the missing "http://" makes a difference or not. Otherwise, your APN settings look good.
I assume you have a data plan.
I think ATT has a MMS file size limit of 600kb, so make sure your photo is under that limit. I forget whether you can set this under the stock SMS agent or not.
Also, look under the following setting (I'm not on the stock ROM anymore, so it might be in a different place): Menu>Settings> Call settings>Additional Settings>My phone number
Is there a number there? If so, is it just numbers, or are their any symbols?
Yes i do have a data plan, and my phone automatically compresses it when i try to mms, it usually gets down to 521 kb/600 kb, and i've tried looking up where that settings is but have no luck, tried under contacts and phone and settings couldn't find it
actually if i think this is what you meant i found "Phone number" under setting > about phone > phone identity and it's my phone number without any signs in it.

That's probably it. The menus are slightly different on the Sense ROM from the non-Sense. The phone number bug only happened when I flashed the CM7 ROM, anyway. The presence of ( and - symbols in the number actually were preventing me from sending MMS.
But I never had that problem under the stock ROM. I had the same case as you, I bought the Desire Z for use on AT&T. I just entered the APN settings, and I was good to go. Not sure what the problem in your case is.
Have you tried to reboot? A real boot, not the Sense fast boot (which doesn't clear lots of things). I think if you hold the power button down, and pick the reboot option, that is a real reboot. But to be sure, you can power down, then pull the battery, then power up again. Or turn off fast boot, then power down.
yes i've rebooted many times, i've even done factory reset and no help. =/ anyone else knows how to fix this? ><

Do you have the Desire Z or G2?
Are you on the stock ROM?
Sorry no Mesage.
This was happening with previous stable releases of Cyanogen for the Slide as well, I just never really had any need to use MMS before so never bothered to look for assistance.
I swapped my sim card into a Nokia Nuron to ensure it is not a network issue (everything was fine on the Nuron). Whenever I try to send a MMS it just sticks at "Sending..." when I receive one and press the download button it gets stuck at "Downloading...". I've tried sending messages to my own number as well as others. Same for receiving, multiple people have tried sending messages from different carriers all with that same result.
I've tried changing the default APN (epc. tmobile .com) to wap. voicestream. com as well as providing the MMS proxy settings that some devices seem to need (216.155.165.50:8080) and still have the same results.
Any assistance in this matter would be very much appreciated as I've got several MMS messages waiting on the network that I would very much like to be able to retrieve.
Thanks in advance!
Here are my current APN settings:

APN: epc.tmobile.com

MMS port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: <Not Set>
APN type: default,supl
Here's an update.. I'm now able to retrieve the MMS messages that were sent to me after adding an additional APN to the device.
I added an APN with the name "T-Mobile MMS"
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMSC: mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
However I still cannot send any MMS messages, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions now?
Scratch that, it allowed the pending messages to be downloaded from the network but new messages still will not download.... Issue remains and I have no idea why a few of them finally came through.
Try changing the wap.voicestream APN to default/not set.

Could you please be a bit more specific as to what you are suggesting? I do not have a wap.voicestream.com APN set on this device. Are you suggesting I leave the APN blank for the "T-Mobile US" APN? Note that I've since removed the "T-Mobile MMS" APN as it was no longer working (and not even selected for that matter).
You said you changed the default T-Mobile APN to wap.voicestream.com. I was saying leave all the MMS settings in that APN to not set. Here are my current and working APN settings:
Name: data (this can be whatever)
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Proxy: Not set
Port: Not set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not set
MMSC: Not set
MMS Proxy: Not set

Just tried your settings and unfortunately the issue still persists. I tried both wap.voicestream.com as well as epc.tmobile.com for the APN with everything else not set (minus the MCC & MNC), same results.
I appreciate you taking the time to respond, would you happen to have any other suggestions? For now I have reverted my APN settings back to default for CyanogenMod 6.1.1.
The other thought would be that something got hosed during the ROM flash or it has something to do with your T-Mobile account. Try flashing the ROM again without doing a wipe and see if it fixes it (doubt it though) if not then call T-Mobile and see if they can look into it on their end.

I too doubt that re-flashing will work but I'll give it a shot anyway. As for as contacting T-Mobile, they will just have me swap my SIM and test in another device which works fine, then they'll have my master reset the Slide and test again (I used to work as a tech care rep there so I know the procedures pretty well). I'll post back my results from re-flashing.
Went ahead and reflashed the 6.1.1 ROM that I've been using and I still have the problem. I am tempted to try out the RC of version 7 but it has problems with WiFi which I use all the time.
Does anyone else have any ideas as to what could be wrong?
I'm running RC2 and don't experience the wifi issues some people are reporting. I do have issues with tower data from time to time, but it only seems to be with the tower feeding the area where I work.
Im having the same problem. Yesterday i was able to txt without problem. Today after going to sleep i tried to txt and it didnt work. I figured it was the 6.1.1 so im going back to wipe and restore to old version. I will post my results.
So i tried to go back to a previous version thinking it was 6.1.1 but it wasent. i think its the phone itself or its tmoblies fault. Im going to the store to ask them.
Another update: Picked up my phone about an hour ago and about 10 MMS messages came rushing through to me. Even messages that have been pending to be sent to myself were successfully sent as well as received.
All of this without me changing a thing on my device (CyanogenMod 6.1.1 default APN settings).
As of right now my issue appears to be resolved... I find it hard to believe that the towers in my area would be the problem though since whenever I would swap my SIM card it would work 100% of the time on other devices.
Not going to complain that it's working, I just wish I knew WHY it's working now all of a sudden.
Have you tried sending another MMS to yourself to make sure its "fixed" and you didn't just randomly get that batch of messages.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using Tapatalk
It did in fact stop working again.
I had tested it several times since those messages had come through and it had continued to work, but once again I am stuck at sending...
I'm getting pretty frustrated at this issue now. It appears to me that the device must be configured correctly if it was working an hour ago. I dread the throught of contacting T-Mobile because I know they'll have to escalate this type of issue to ATSG (Advanced Technical Support Group) which can take quite a long time.
I have to do some traveling tomorrow so I'll do some testing in other areas to see if this issue is limited to the tower near my house.
EDIT:
When it was working earlier I had WiFi enabled. When I attempted to send a MMS the E/3G/H data indicator would pop up while the message was being sent or received, however I am no longer seeing this (it's only showing a WiFi connection, E/3G/H no longer pops up like it was earlier). This leads me to believe that the device isn't even attempting to make the correct data connection in order to send the MMS anymore.
EDIT AGAIN:
I just toggled my WiFi off and on again and tried to re-send the message, it worked this time. Still no clue as to why it's working sometimes but not all the time.
I tried sending a text to me and it failed. I rolled back to previous settings and still nothing. It might work 2moro. But if not im going to tmobile about this.
good very good, i don't care

I wish I could help you with your text messaging problem but I would suggest you create a new forum thread as this one is focused on MMS which is completely different than SMS.
As for my MMS issue, I am still able to MMS myself without any issues.

You are not the only one. I am using ArayrayMod and I am getting problems sending and receiving MMS. Texts work fine. Its really hit or miss right now.
I contacted Tmo and they said it was a known issue and its all over the network - No ETA at this time. I even had a manager verify that issue with me as I don't trust them fully at the Tier 1 techs.

Not sure if this will help but be sure your mobile data is on. I on on at&t and mostly have to have the data on to send MMS. Some of the customs Roms like wicked sensation has a zip file to allow sending MMS via WiFi..
Yea I leave mobile date connected even when on WiFi... Looks like flashing a ROM might do the trick since the issue seems to be related to the stock OTA update.

yeah I love it when the updates have added features at no extra cost that you cannot get rid of. also, check into the PAC man rom. it is 4.3 based and is very stable. its a hybrid of Paranoid, AOKP, and CM. tons of options and excellent battery life, I get avg 18hrs no problems. I have issues with most of the 4.4 roms, seems like somewhere something sucks the battery dead. but still a WIP.
Is there anyway to maybe just get this feature.. like from an Xposed mod or something? And my problem is receiving not sending. I can send them just fine.

Ok, thanks. She renews at the end of the month so we'll see what happens.
Had exact same issue on my wife's s3 after updating to 4.3.... allot of bugs and junk came with that update... Fixed it by first while on screen where you can enter newapn I clicked menu and reset to default. Than I took sim out and put into another phone and sent picture message to it on another phone. Than inserted back into her s3 and it started working. Maybe you don't even need another phone. .. Just try to reset apn to default and turn off than turn on without sim than turn off and put sim card in and enter the apn settings than save and try again. Hope this helps.
Try to change the MMS proxy: from, mms3.tracfone.com to, mms2.tracfone.com
I'm on net 10 (same stuff different flavor) that fixed my issues with MMS messages.

This. I'm on a 90 day plan. Doesn't expire until April 27. So, is there some way to get Straight Talk to, in effect, do whatever it is that's done when an account is refilled, while still maintaining the time I have left? It seems to me that if so many different people are reporting this as the only solution (and multiple searches reflect this to be the only thing that works), if there were some way to get Straight Talk to do it manually, that'd be a great fix.

I was just wanting to follow up and see if you ever found a solution to your problem?

My girlfriend is on straight talk and has no issues. Here is the APN she uses:
APN:tfdata
MMSC:http://mms-tf.net
PROXY:mms3.tracfone.com
PORT:80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN TYPE:default, supl, mms, admin, fota, hipri (no spaces after commas)
everything else is blank. If this doesn't work try changing the proxy to 66.209.11.3
Manually putting in the information works but straight talk has a data apn app on the play store and it will walk you through the steps, for me when I got to the bearer I just clicked LE and I am on LTE right now with straight talk.

I'm also having the same problem with my G3 on Straight Talk, and am trying to find a solution for it until I stumbled on this thread. I have no idea what you meant by "space instead of a period in the mmsc proxy".
My MMSC setting is set as: h**p://mms-tf.net [I can't post links on my posts yet, replace ** with tt]
MMS proxy: mm3.tracfone.com
MMS port: 80
MMC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: None
APN type: default,hipri
I've also googled around and see what other people have as their APN settings on straight talk and the only thing that they had different was:
Auth Type: PAP
APN type: default,supl,mms,hipri
I changed my APN settings to that, but I still have the same problem with mms.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks

I tried that, the settings on the APN Settings app didn't help. It seems like the settings are from older phones. Once I applied the settings (please see attached) I lost data connection and the mms still didn't work.
This is the instructions Straight Talk e-mailed me:
APN PROGRAMMING FOR MOST PHONE MODELS:
Once you have reached your phone's APN (Access Point Name) settings, create a new APN with the following values.
APN Name: Straight Talk
APN: tfdata
Port: 80
MMSC: h**p://mms-tf.net (replace ** with tt)
MMS Proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
MMS Port: 80
Delete the current APN from your phone.
Reboot your phone.
That is the current settings I'm on now. 4G works fine, just not MMS.

Could be a SIM card issue, but I had just gotten this SIM card last week. When I googled around it seems like some people were able to solve it via APN settings. Just not sure how they did that before I go out and get a new SIM card.

Thank you so much! That fixed it! The only thing that was different was Port should not have been set, but instead set the port for MMS Port. Also the APN type was changed to: default, mms, supl.
I wonder why Straight Talk would give mis-leading information? I guess they didn't throughly test out their settings before telling users to set it.
Thanks again!

What is the difference between Port and MMS port?
So the right way to set up APN settings is leave the port alone, and set the mms port to 80?

Really? Not sure if I had downloaded the right app. Does the app look like the screen shot I had a few posts ago? I couldn't find the settings you had in that app.
Hey guys,
I'm on AT&T G3 on AT&T and have no problems, but from years of tinkering with various devices, one thing that often worked for me was instead of relying on the APN settings in settings was to use Go SMS Pro and go into the advanced settings and change the APN settings in there.
Without rhyme or reason, I've had phones absolutely refuse to work with MMS using the correct stock APN settings but work just fine with Go SMS Pro and Go SMS Pro's settings (I think that's why they included the feature in the first place.)
The funny thing is that the stock messaging app on G3 is the first one I've liked enough to use instead of Go SMS Pro...
If that works, the issue is probably with LG and not the carriers so try it out and if it works, bug the hell out of LG.

Is anyone else having issues with MMS not sending or receiving on T-Mobile? I noticed that the APN isn't editable on this phone.
If I switch to airplane mode and back, it will send or receive the stalled message, but will stop working after that.
Any ideas?

Make up an APN name with just the name and apn filled in with something random. Save that APN. Next go back and edit that APN with the one you need and select it. That's how I fixed my APN.

Thanks I'll give that a try.
It's odd because it was fine ob my OG Pixel XL. I had this issue with the 6P and it was later fixed with an update.
It could just be carrier issues in my area too I guess...
Mine works fine.
You should try Textra. The king of all texting apps
On OG Pixel now. Was really confused when I got it last month. I'm used to making one default APN, but Pixel on Oreo had 5. Is 2 the same? All of my attempts at using advertised Tmob APN broke something. I actually think all 5 APN are needed for VOLTE, WiFi Calling, Messaging over WiFi (IMS), and international roaming. Try the three dots and reset to default.
Also under dialer settings *#*#4636#*#*, phone info, 3 dots, IMS Service Status.....you can check status.
If I deleted those weird APN's it would break IMS.

Did you ever figure out a solution to this? It seems like (from what I read on reddit) that Google Messenger does not like the fact that T-Mobile uses multiple APN settings.
I found if I created a new APN entry with these settings, http://www.4gtricks.com/2017/10/t-mobile-apn-settings-google-pixel-2-XL.html?m=1, that solved the MMS issue. But every time the phone is restarted or the radio toggled with airplane mode, the phone sets itself back to the default APN setting that cannot be edited. That's incredibly annoying.
I then found (from this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/77c1dj/android_tethering_and_apn_carrier_config/) that if I set the MVNO type in the APN I created to "GID" that the default T-Mobile settings disappeared and only my custom APN was there, so I didn't have it resetting with every restart.
But I'm worried based on what others said here that this may break VOLTE or wifi calling or cause issues with roaming on T-Mobile (if it thinks I'm an MVNO customers). So I'd rather just be able to edit the default APN. Even with root, I can't seem to find any posts about how to do this.
[Edit, I seem to have found a solution (working so far), which I explain here: https://productforums.google.com/d/msg/phone-by-google/RNDSr05hUQ4/GPbYF3GYAgAJ.]

Thanks for this. Yes, I'm still having problems. I was in a week long conversation with T-Mobile about it and they couldn't figure it out either. At one point they suggested a signal booster (???) The odd part is that it only happens when I'm at work. It works fine everywhere else. The bad part is I get most of my MMS when I'm working...
The only theory I have is that at work we have a series of access points around campus with the same SSID instead of a mesh network. Maybe MMS gets screwed up somehow when jumping across access points.
I will give your suggestion a try and see if it helps.
I found that my mms didn't work because of my router. I have a netduma router and mms doesn't work when I have turbo mode turned on. I have no idea what turbo mode changes about the network but whatever it does, it screws with mms somehow. Maybe your work network does something similar to netduma's turbo mode.

In the Google Product Forums link I provide there are some other people saying that connecting to certain wifi access points seemed to interfere with their ability to send/recieve MMS. At least one person said it affected MMS even after they disconnected from that access point. And I think some people in that thread, if you read through it, found some solutions. For me, as I explain, also in that thread, my problem did not have to do with wifi and I resolved it by making some changes to my APN settings.
MMS Fix
I have come up with a simple fix! I am fortunate to have access to two Pixel 2s (one XL and one not) and will try this with my wife's (UPDATE: IT WORKS!), but here's the story:
Situation
My wife and I work for the same company and she mainly uses MMS and I don't, but it is happening to both of us after upgrading to Pixel 2s. She has the Pixel 2 and I have the XL. I have done a test where I added my Google Voice number and my wife's number in a group message and tested all sorts of combination of things. Our phone's MMS works on the house Wi-Fi and the mobile network, but not on our work Wi-Fi. I have reset network settings and APN settings back to default, no change. Looking at the APN settings, I realized the two T-Mobile MMS listings have the APN listed as "TMUS," whereas the default APN is listed as "fast.t-mobile.com." Since "TMUS" is not a valid domain name, I changed the first T-Mobile MMS APN to fast.t-mobile.com and MMS started working on Wi-Fi. I reset my APN settings back to default and it stopped working on my work's Wi-Fi again. I thought that I should leave the default APNs alone, just in case and decided to create a third T-Mobile MMS APN with fast.t-mobile.com as the APN. This third T-Mobile MMS APN somehow allows MMSs to work on the company's Wi-Fi.
Fix
Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile network > Access Point Names.
Tap on the 3 dot menu at the upper-right and select "Reset to default."
Create a new APN with the following settings:
Name: T-Mobile MMS
APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy, Port, Username, Password, and Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc (When typing this in, make sure auto correct doesn't change anything since URLs are case sensitive!)
MMS Proxy and MMS Port: Not Set
MCC: 310 (Should already be set)
MNC: 260 (Should already be set)
APN Type: mms
APN Protocol: IPv6
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
Bearer: Unspecified
MVNO Type: None
MVNO Value: Not Set
Tap on the 3 dot menu and select "Save."
Reboot your phone for good measure (may not be necessary) and open Android Messages.
Send a MMS or group MMS on and off the Wi-Fi network you are having issues on to see if it sends. If you have several queued up messages that haven't sent, you may need to tap to resend them and they may become out of order on the recipient's end.
Conclusions
The main thing to note about this is that it is the same as the other T-Mobile MMS APN, but has TMUS replaced with fast.t-mobile.com. If you look at the actual default fast.t-mobile.com APN, you'll notice that "mms" isn't listed among the others in APN Type. I feel, if I could edit that default fast.t-mobile.com APN, the problem would be fixed by adding ",mms" at the end. I assume one could duplicate everything in the default one and add it that way, but I wanted to provide the simplest, non-invasive fix possible that would not result in any future problems. When the phone/Google Messages consults the APNs, I assume it goes through each one to attempt to find one with MMS in the APN type and then attempts to contact the APN via its domain name, but fails since TMUS is not valid. I am not sure why it doesn't go ahead, verifies a working data connection, and then sends the MMS using http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc as it seems to do fine on other Wi-Fi networks. I do not know what makes my company's Wi-Fi different aside from it using EAP authentication and the fact that this problem didn't occur on my wife's previous phone (T-Mo Galaxy S7). I had the 2016 Pixel for a while, but I use Google Voice and would not normally notice the MMS issues. I need to implement this on my wife's phone and if I do not update this post, you should assume it worked (I may just forget to come back).
UPDATE: It works! I followed my own instructions and it works on my wife's Pixel 2 too!
If anyone has a good theory as to wth is going on, please contribute!

That did the trick for me using Textra. I had been using the setting on there to turn off WiFi when I sent or received MMS, but I don't have to do that anymore.
I had the same problem, a simple reset the default apn and restart the phone worked, no need to add anything.

Great! As I mentioned, I had done the same to both phones (actually, even got a different SIM for her phone). Something about being connected to our work's Wi-Fi caused the phones to throw their hands up in the air and refuse to work when no MMS APN with a FQDN was present.
