I know how to disable or uninstall HTC sense using Titanium Backup, but when doing so, pressing home launches "Google Now" instead of the default android launcher. How do I replace HTC Sense with a standard android launcher?
Thanks

Ok. There are some roms which include a desensing script. Otherwise I see no real point in uninstalling htc sense unless you really hate it that much, just download apex or nova launcher from the playstore, press the home button once installed chosen launcher and just press always.

I just wanted to try out the vanilla launcher. Does it have a name? Anyway, I tried a few launches on the app store including Nova, but ended up going with Smart Launcher for now.

What's wrong with Nova/apex launcher? It's standart android launcher, copy of what nexus devices are using.
+1 to that Rofos, you can't remove sense if your not on Custom ROM.
+ Removing sense gets rid of the pic camera !

Ok, I have noticed on some alternative launchers (like launcher pro for example) if you drag an icon onto the "desktop" from the app drawer and hold it on top of the trash for a few seconds, it will prompt you to uninstall the app.....
Is there any way of getting this implemented into some of the custom roms around here? or is there something I could install as an "update.zip" to acquire this ability? I like the stock sense launcher so I don't really want to install and alternative launcher for this.....surely there is a way!

does it do what I requested? I've never heard of it....I'll have to look into it, thanks!
It's an app you click into it lists all installed apps so you can uninstall easily its not the same thing but its easier uninstalls

I'll pass then....if I'm gonna do that then I'll just go into the built in manager apps and uninstall it.
Thanks anyway!
Like I said, it is a feature that I like about launcher pro, but I don't want to install a different launcher JUST for that feature. Oh well, I'll just deal with the normal process!
[Q] Standard "stock" launcher - Not ADW, etc; the one that comes with a Nexus. Where?
I've been around a bit and I've noticed that no roms appear to use the "stock" Android launcher. I don't even know what it's called! Even CM, which is generally very close to regular vanilla Android, comes with ADW instead of the normal launcher.
I understand that ADW and other launchers that are included in roms have more/better features, but I'd like to give the "normal" one a try sometime, if only out of curiosity.
Anyone know where can I find it?
Seriously, nobody? :-/
Just delete sense as standard, press the home button and choose the stock launcher...

So I saw a video on YouTube on how to disable HTC Sense and use the default stock launcher, however that device was running 2.1 and so it won't work on my device...
I was just wondering is there anyway to disable sense without installing a separate ROM on 2.2, thanks.

I think the only way is with a new rom
You can't turn in off, as you can't install Sense on a non-sense rom.
However, you can install a different launcher, i think the gingerbread stock launher is on the market.
Because HTC Sense is built onto the Android interface, shouldn't closing HTC Sense enable the stock launcher? All HTC did was take the 2.1 nexus Rom and write Sense into it, they never removed a thing so surely there is a way?

Ahh thanks, they should give people a choice between Sense and the Stock Launcher. Fair do's people should just get the Nexus if that's what they are looking for, but the Nexus in the UK was only available on one network, and I for one completely prefer the standard Launcher, HTC Sense 1.0 (Desire Version) is very buggy and laggy.
It surprise me that you know how HTC made Sense and at the same time you don't even know what it is.
Like mentioned by Surfy89, Sense is way more then the htc launcer (rosie). If you want to get rid of Sense you need to flash a alternative rom (AOSP).
If you are talking about using a different launcher then the sense launcher (rosie), you can just install a alternative launcher from the market. So you do have the choice to use whatever launcher you want. Al tough the sense widgets won't work with a alternative launcher.

This is the video I saw: YouTube
I got the wrong info, sorry for wasting time
Even the comments under the video are saying it's an old feature.
Either install different launcher from the market (Launcher Pro, Zeam, Go Launcher ... plenty of them) or root and flash a custom AOSP rom. That's the way to go.

Watched the video on my mobile, and didn't see the comments for this reason, would just like to say thankyou for everyone that has corrected my wrongs I now have Oxygen 2.0.
I really like CM7, but I'm having problems when installing launchers. I've tried both LauncherPro and Go Launcher Ex. When I install the new launcher, it's menu doesn't show up under Settings and ADWLauncher's menu disappears. So I'm stuck being able to do anything. Any ideas?
Since I'm not seeing it, can anyone tell me where LauncherPro's menu should show up? I'm assuming just under CyanogenMod settings where ADWLauncher used to be.
Have u tried hit menu in home screen after installed go launcherEx?

Thanks, that's it! I didn't think to check there because I have a shortcut to Settings, and that's where I accessed ADWLauncher's settings.

I checked out the reviews and it looks like a good launcher, but I'm quite happy with LauncherPro for now. Tks.
if you install a launcher different from ADW it is normal...if you uninstall the new launcher the adw settings' sub menu will appear again...
and a new menu will be under menu/more/adw settings ...
go launcher ex ftw.
Can anyone tell me if there is a default android launcher(unlike sense launcehr,ADW,etc.)
i.e. a "core" launcher or something like that.

well, no ... ? every rom has to use SOME launcher ... htc uses sense as its 'core' launcher... and so on ...
I just installed the 2.17 update on my phone but when I use my home button now I always go back to the sense launcher.
This really sucks because I like to use apex as my main launcher.
Has anyone else got this problem, or a solution?
Settings - Apps - All - HTC Sense - Clear Default.

Well I already did that
Due to the lack of responses can I conclude that this is not normal?
So this probably means a factory reset...
Great!
Lol chill out and either clear defaults in both apps or reinstall apex launcher

If you used the RUU you have to reinstall Apex (obvious but had to ask)

I'm having the same issue here. I used to use Home Switcher to choose Apex, then reboot, but Sense seems to have gotten more persistent. Any luck?
