[Q] What would make a perfect theme?

What would make the perfect theme for you?
What color combos?
Flat or shiny?
Flat popups or roundish popup?
Dark or bright?
What is it that you guys would like to see in a theme? I would like to make something totally different but i have so many ideas in my head i just cant seem to put everything into one. Post what you like but cant seem to find.
This can apply to AOSP or Sense roms.

Darker themes tend to be nice, though with 'highlights'
Think dark colored car, and epic under carriage lights.
Get a lil PIZZAZZ going.

I would say
Blue, blue...and more blue
I myself don't like glass icons. Makes everything look too uniform, like an iphone.
Honeycomb theming. Blue glows on dark bg.
Bdub25 has an aosp rom here on xda that fits all this criteria. Would love to see it on sense, or sense w/o rosie.
I love the way virus themed the rosie for airborne. (Sorry if pic is blurry. Accidentally selected small size upload via xda app, now it wont let me upload another)

I love the theme builder that is a part of VaelPak's ROM's.. Gives you the option to change status bar icons and screen animations.. its very easy to use and it signs the zip file for you, just gotta go into recovery and flash.. But that defiantly is a feature that I love.. IDK if something like that could be used as part of a theme but it would be pretty sweet!

I'm working on a new theme today called FireZone. It will be a red theme for HDPI phones for now. I will try to have screen shots and maybe a Beta APK up sometime today.

I appreciate your offer and realize that you probably get requests more for creating wallpapers, but I was hoping you could help me with a "resizing wallpaper" problem. This is the original image that I want to make into a properly sized wallpaper for a stock T989;
However, I can't get it sized so that the center desktop, (desktop 4), has the entire image of the band name centered correctly. No matter what I tried, the B and the I are always cut off, and the partial letters appear on desktops 3 and 5. Is there a way to size this correctly without losing either too much of the image, or messing up the aspect ratio so that the band name is centered cleanly on desktop 4? (It almost seems like the answer would be to extend the image right and left a bit.. I don't know..)

This is doable, are you using the stock Touchwiz launcher?
Also the Gears of War 3 Wallpaper is almost done. Turns out live wallpapers are not as hard to make as i thought.

Yep. It's a completely stock T989, so stock Touchwiz launcher.

I don't know if you've seen the boot animation from the Juggernaut rom, but it shows the Galaxy "S" logo pulsating colors, that would make a sweet wallpaper.

There is a great tutorial in the android section under themes. The font color requires an xml edit tat would probably change more than what you want and cause other text to be difficult to or impossible to read without other modifications that i don't know how to do.

couldn't the problem be solved if you use the full system UI zip of the korean version as a reference?
oh, and i just realized, that there is a whole button dedicated to voice mail itself!! lol
also, i think i edited my last reply too late and think you didn't see me asking if you were going edit this more?

hey, i just realized there is a small bug when recieving calls.
the pulling menu images doesn't have any colors, and the words are cut off.

I think Im going to be done with this for now. But you should pick it up and port the whole theme. Would be a great start in learning how to theme. Pm me if you have any theming questions and ill help you out where i can.

Ive been working on this for like 2 hours, and this is what i came up with.
changed back the bottom button icons to give more simple look
i'm loving this theme!
but i still cannot manage to deal with the dialer in horizontal mode...
everything is off the grid...
but who uses dialer horizontally anyway?..... right?
maybe i'll try to fix it when i get better at theming...

Remove s-pen, choose a image you want to crop and when ready press and hold the button on the pen and go around till you reach the starting point. Then it will give you several options as to where you want to use the cropped pic :thumbup:

I cut out banes mask and sent it to S Note. Then, I added the picture of my cat to that S Note. I moved the mask to the front by long pressing it and selecting 'move to front'. Finally, I sized and rotated the mask until it fit on her face.

Also used the color picker in S-Note to help decide paint color for my house.
Jotting down window measurements for blinds.
S-Note is pretty freaking handy

That's awesome! I use the S pen everyday, and before purchasing the phone I asked myself if I would ever use it. It just comes in handy....all the time

What app are you guys using? I tried it on the gallery but it doesn't show up unless you hit draw on picture. But then it gets kinda greyed out.
Never use my pen and probably need to figure what I can use it for.

[MOD] Custom Holo dark background ~ Do it yourself! [Any ROM]

I thought i would post this for everyone, even if it isnt a massive deal and probably not something most need... We were all noobs once, so if it helps someone get their phone a little closer to what they want... Or if it helps get someone into making a theme... Then i cant say having this up is a bad thing at all...
So its a simple MOD that will allow you to add your own holo dark images to any ROM... Yes, this will even work for those of you running a theme... Where you maybe don't like the holo dark image(s) used...
Simple instructions for a simple MOD...
- Download "MyBackground.zip" from here and save it to your computer!
- Download the "HoloImages.zip" from here and save it to your computer...
- Drag and drop the two images from "HoloImages.zip" onto your desktop and edit them however you like! (Id stay at 720x1280 or stock 500x500)

- Now open each Image and edit as you wish! I would recommend a simple program like GIMP or Paint.net to edit .png files...
- Once you have your image(s) just right, save them...
- Now open "MyBackground.zip" with 7-zip or WinRAR (WinfRAR seems to work better for VRtheme stuff)
- Go into:
Code:
vrtheme -> system -> framework -> framework-res.apk -> res -> drawable-nodpi
- Add your new images (it will override the current images)
- Once added, save "MyBackground.zip".... "As"... That means change the name of the zip and save it as a new file...
- Drop this into your phones storage and boot into recovery!
- Backup... Duh...
- Flash...
- Enjoy!
The absolute worst thing that can happen, is it simply won’t work... I suggest a backup, just because its a good idea... That said you really can’t even boot-loop if you follow the above... If the image(s) are named wrong, or the wrong file type... It simply won’t work... The holo background you had previous to a your flash... Will simply still be present..
NOTE: If your ROM had a transparent holo, this MOD will NOT break it... If you flashed a theme with a transparent level... Again this will NOT break it... Simply set your image(s) to the desired transparent level...

How it looks is completely up to you... All theme work is trial and error... What you think looks great on your laptop, may not look great in the background of your settings or dial keypad...
Here is a sample showing stock black... To a more Touchwiz blue... As i think this is where Samsung went wrong... A simple attempt to match their blue inside the background completely changes the look of Touchwiz... Its cleaner... Its vibrant... Its still classy...
But in the end, it really does loop back around to you as a user, and what you think looks good... I can post screen shots all day, and never once hit the mark with everyone...

Here is a sample showing stock black... To a more Touchwiz blue... As i think this is where Samsung went wrong... A simple attempt to match their blue inside the background completely changes the look of Touchwiz... Its cleaner... Its vibrant... Its still classy...
But in the end, it really does loop back around to you as a user, and what you think looks good... I can post screen shots all day, and never once hit the mark with everyone...

Is there a way you could post the background image that you used in this screenshot? That looks simply perfect but my computer is out of service and I would love to use it for my note 2 background in settings
