How do you remove Virgin Mobile from the banner up top when you open the notification area? I'm on cdma US.
(maybe someone can answer this 2nd question too without a new thread, or should I make a new one?)
When I was installing some of the custom roms, one feature I really miss, now that i'm back on stock rooted, is the srs wow choice for sound enhancement. (like in the first screenshot of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943412)
I can't seem to find it anywhere, is there a mod or an app for that?
If someone finds this out, I would like to know too
That choice is there for me in poweramp. Maybe you could try that on a custom rom.

cdma version of pacman v19.3a is a very stable rom with the option to change the virgin mobile banner to what ever you want. also comes with a dsp manager which controls sound dynamics

Since we have our choice of deodexed ROMs to choose from now, I would like to see a nice stock looking, but black, notification bar. Battery % would be a nice touch, too.
Perhaps something that can just be loaded as an update through recovery. I have something like this on my N1, but haven't seen one yet for the G2.
I would love to figure out how to make one myself, but I have no idea where to start.
I realize this is a feature built into the CM ROMs, but I tried the release candidates, and they are too buggy for me to use at this time. I'm very happy with stock and bb.
Thanks!

Let me know what you guys think.

i used maxthon for a while some time ago but iv gone back to stock miui browser, MIUIv4 ICS browser was great but the roms were too buggy for me. edit: and miuis backup is great.
The only one on your list that I would have removed is sound recorder. The rest is all good and useful. Please developed this from to something really fast. Unless people are happy with it. If so carry on

I'm all for people trying to get into the custom rom game, it can bring diversity to the custom rom market. However I would not classify this as "No Bloat" because rmk defined it as "anything you could easily choose to download from the Market yourself, has been removed." Thanks for the contribution!

For me that seems better. As long as there is one person using it, it belongs here IMO. Still would like to see some sort of speed mod though. Maybe borrowing some tweaks from bulletproof or something.

I'm waiting to see what all my my ROM users think. I might include a second build. One with a speed mod and one like this.

I'd say you'd have to do a bit more than just remove a few apps and media files. You don't really gain anything by that do you? Just a little free space and since the Vision has plenty of that it really isn't an issue. Maybe a few scripts or something would do good? Some roms have adblock scripts and sd-readahead tuning scripts and such installed by default so the average user doesn't need to do anything.
You could change the original MIUI file manager to apooonets modded one which has access to root files and such, though you might want to ask him(/her) first. You can find the xda thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523691
Anyways keep on going, I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Well thank you for sharing your thoughts. I mainly did this on a personal note and thought i'd share it with the XDA community in case someone else would like it. But thank you. I have given much thought to adding a mod or some sort or something else.

I would try it if backup and calculator were added back in, or posted so I could replace them manually. I love the idea of a less bloated miui ROM.

Droidcell,
I've been thinking about this and came to the conclusion that its just too similar to stock. Miui runs well as it is so you would have to do something crazy to bring people in. Have you thought about stripping it right back to only the core elements:
Phone
SMS
Market
Contacts
Gapps (or just market as the rest can be got from there)
That way it would be proper stripped back. If people want to add a browser or whatever they have the market.
What do you think?

Hello xda,
I am using CyanogenMod on my HTC One X and wondered, if it is possible to show a custom carrier label on my home screen and in the status bar (when opened). I am using the (outdated) 022 version from this thread at the moment. I tried to modify my /system/etc/spn-conf.xml, but I don't know if that would be the right way and I was not able to delete/replace/modify the file.
If anyone has some nice hints for me, I would be very glad.
Greetings from Germany,
NyphoX.
Really no ideas? Anyone?
I use an app called "Phono", it show the operator up-left in the status bar, you can got it for free on Google Play store
Thanks, but this program shows it only in my notification area. The carrier name on the bottom of my notification area and on my lockscreen are the same. :/

As I have no interests in this, this can be closed...
It is possible on AOKP ROMs. I recommend the IceColdJelly 4.2.1 ROM. It's my personal favourite 4.2 ROM and it's getting more and more features like that as the AOKP team adds them. You can give it a try if you are already rooted and all that

Thank you. I will have a look at it, but I think I will have to find a workaround, 'cause I am using TripNDroids CM atm.
I just got an HTC one v from Cricket Wireless and through a bit of patience (which i need badly ) Was able to root it with an AIO kit (Props to the dev of that kit.)
I Recently read that this phone won't be getting Android 4.1 or 4.2 .
I'm wondering (and this is why I posted in general. What roms would be awesome for this little phone and well...I've been all over the net and I'm curious as to "What's cool?"
Would Cyanogen Mod work with this phone?
Would I lose any services (Talk, Text, Data)
I'm aware of the possibility but what are the steps I can take to prevent it/recover from one (if it happens)
I do believe I have the original RUU from another website. and the android SDK on this computer.
I will probably have millions more questions and I am going through the forums, but, I'm interested in hearing what's up. I'm also new here.
Welcome! If I'm not mistaken Cricket Wireless is no sir right{CDMA}? You might want to check out the HTC Cmda thread. However most of the CDMA roms are for Virgin Mobile.

Thanks for the welcome
I believe this phone is PRIMO C according to what I've read. Yes, CDMA
Android Ver: 4.0.3
I recently did a TWRP backup (2 hrs ago) with Ver 2.3.3.0
I'm also reading about Slim Bean.
I would like to have the latest os on this phone, eliminate a good percentage of the crap this phone came with (from Cricket) and have a good time. Yes I know it won't run games very well...but the rest is fantastic.
OK Great! Unfortunately some of the roms like Slim Bean have a bug that Forces a reboot randomly. Usually when unlocking your screen. Another problem is that these roms are usually made for Virgin Mobile and that you'll have to modify them for your network. There is a thread that shows this I believe. I would suggest Rhythmic Rom. It's based on CM10 and doesn't have the reboot bug.
Sent from my One V using xda premium
I think I saw a thread on how to modify a rom to match a service provider. Like a text file or something like that. (Best comparison I can make is modifying the morrowind.ini (for the PC Game Morrowind) file to use a specific sound) So I shouldn't have a problem there. (Just found that thread think it's this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2120559&highlight=cricket)
Rhythmic Rom...I did read a thread about that last night. I think the guy's in the process of trying to solve a bug with the phone's 5mp camera not working and video recording crashes. It looks like a good rom. I might want to try to test this rom out on an emulator (if possible)
If I remember CM10 is based off of Jelly Bean, an OS I'd love to have on this phone.
While I'm at it. I'd like to say thanks for your help so far, and thanks to anybody else who jumps into this thread. This is the first time in a while that I feel like a proper n00b at something.
:highfive:
Hey, it appears as though i cant post anything in the development forum due to being a "newbie"
I had intended to post this on the dedicated Phoenix ROM thread but it has been suggested i post it here, hope this is ok?
Hey guys, had to register and post to say thanks to Tamirda for this ROM, I installed it about a week ago and must say im mightily impressed.
Battery life is excellent, it runs like a dream, plenty of options, no issues here.
I can see myself sticking with this ROM for quite some time!
I have downloaded the phoenix app from the Play store to show my appreciation.
While im here I may as well ask a couple of questions
Ive installed the Noozxoide sound option via Aroma and am having a bit of trouble with it – this may be down to me not using it correctly, not sure, but something a bit simpler may suit me. If I want to change that is it as simple as uninstalling it from the application manager and then choosing a different option via the phoenix kitchen app?
Lastly, is there a way of changing the data icons that show in the status bar? The 3G, wifi, GPS Bluetooth etc? Im using the HTC sense theme with 50% transparency on everything. The icons are the more polished HTC ones when the notification bar is pulled down (in the toggle area) but the ones in the status bar are clashing a bit with my preferred set up. Ideally I’d like to be able to change these independently but would also consider a complete theme if that was the best way.
Keep up the good work Tamirda!
About the noozioxide app ..yeah just uninstall it and you're good to go...
Regarding the theming:
Download the Assasins Full theme mod (
THEME_UR_ROM_ASSASSIN)
You'll have so much option to choose from.
And the same developer of the theme mod of assasins...has developed so many mods ....like gps changer...launcher changer...kernel changer...recovery changer...sound boost mod ( this one will helps you with the sound ) and much more i cant remember...just search the android developer forum of note 2 ..the member name is wisamothman...and his bro firas othman ....they are a very good developer team.
And they recently developed the assasins kitchen ....there you will find everything.
I hope i helped you out bro.
Have a nice day.
Best regards

Thank you
