Did I brick it? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I accidentally flashed cf root for i317 since I did one of those yesterday and didn't pay close enough attention. DOH! I'm dl'ing the full T889UVALK8 tar file to try and restore. What is best course or am I just f'd?
Now odin only gets to SetupConnection and hangs when trying to flash correct cf_root. I still have not unplugged it and it's still in download mode.
Any help much appreciated?

Nevermind, I reset the phone it booted up fine. I then flashed the correct cf_root and it worked fine. Almost a grand f-up. Whew...

Lol that was a close one glad you didnt bricked it

AT&T Galaxy SIII Bricked While Trying to Flash Back to Stock... Desperate For Help
Had my AT&T Galaxy S III rooted, stock ROM. Was having some issues after rooting so I decided to go back to bone stock, completely unroot so I flashed the I747UCALEM build from these forums on Odin 3.07. Needless to say the phone was held up mid flash, and I got a "FAIL" in Odin. When I tried to reboot the phone, I got a "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again" When I reboot the phone this comes up and it's almost like a permanent download mode. I tried to reflash in Odin to unbrick the phone and it fails every single time.
Am I completely screwed? If I send it back to Samsung like this they'll see the that I rooted (didnt trip the flash counter) and void my warranty. Not sure what to do here. Thanks for any advice guys.

Sounds like you got a bad file re-download the AT&T software again from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737848 make sure you have Kies disabled i do think if its running in the background odin won't flash right don't hold me to it.and as long as you can get in download mode you should be able to fix it.also check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1727443

Hmm this actually happened to me first time I tried to root (stupid computer fell asleep mid flash) however I was just able to reenter download mode and flash again, curious though , what did the screen say and where In the flash process did the Odin fail, for Me luckily it was 2/3 of the way through flashing system so I didn't have much to worry about. Though I imagine if it was writing something important like the sbl or somethimg and it failed you might be in trouble . All in all I would say try flashing again a few times maybe the file you downloaded is bad.

Downloading the UCALEM build from that link now on my laptop (my PC is notorious for connection issues with this phone, I should of known) and I'll pray for the best. Thank you very much for the help, I'll post back once I'm on my way.
I can't even download either firmwares. The direct downloads stop for some random reason at around 33 MB and there's 0 seeders for the torrent versions. Any other way to get these firmwares? Samsung updates isn't being nice tonight.

The update is in Kies as well.
Finally got the update to download, used a different browser. Flashed the new build through Odin and it worked, unbricked the phone. Apparently it is the connection through my regular PC. Thanks for everyones help!

[Q] Help - cannot boot up the phone

I rooted my phone with GALAXY NOTE 2 Toolkit. It was working fine for few months. Recently I noticed a problem when I tried to reboot it, but I pulled the battery out and after reinserting all went OK. then Next day or two another time when I tried to reboot, I got to the point where I cannot boo the phone anymore. I get to the initial T-MOBILE screen and that's where it gets stuck.
I tried to upload a recent ROM through Odin. It worked fine, no errors, no problems, but when I try to boo the same thing happens.
I also tried to get to the other menu ( Power+Home+VolumeUp). It shows the menu with some options but I'm not sure how can I use those. I treid few things but it does not work.
I need to use the phone for work every day so I am completely stuck and this is critical for me.
I would appreciate any help.

While Knox is a problem, the bootloader is the booger that won't allow return to 4.1.2. Sammy hosed us on that little bit of trickery.
If my wife didn't have a GS3 that I maintain I might have OTA'd. I have been watching their "upgrade" process for a while and knew that there was trouble in the OTA.
It will be painful for a while as people migrate in with problems that have been covered several times. We'll get through it.

(HELP) Possible soft brick

Okay here is the problem guys. I have my note three for three weeks now. Rooted it day one. But It seems with every phone I have addiction with flashing roms. I change around a lot. I have owned four devices this year. S4, note 3, nexus 4 and galaxy nexus. Rooted every device never had an issue that couldn't be fixed by flashing the stock tar via odin. The other day I flashed compulsion kernel and put me in a boot loop. So I did the natural thing and download the stock tar and flash via odin. First time was a bust. It said it was successful. Still put me in boot loop so I downloaded the stock tar from another location and tried again. Still no dice and still have boot loop. Tried flashing a custom rom after flashing the stock tar. Nothing still boot loop and I've also tried different recoveries and still nothing. I know its not hard bricked because I can still boot into recovery. I am actually a sales rep at a corporate tmobile store and did a warrarnty exchange and they are overnighting me another note three and I am going to send this one back. Little concerned as to having the rooted status on the device is going to go over. A couple times after I flashed the stock tar I got it to boot but then it would say "process system stopped responding wait or ok" then after clicked okay it reboots. I really hope there is someone out there with a solution.
HELP
This isnt your usual soft brick. If someone could please help I would appreciate it!!
Dude my phone out of nowhere bricklooped today like literally. I installed different roms no dice. 3 backups including the stock one and nothing still bootlooped I tried the brickloop fixer on jovys darthstalker v6 and I'm back up and running but if I reboot or turn off phone and reboot it goes into same bootloop he's a smart, brilliant dev I'm sure he can help me out as well as you

Odin mode only (never rooted)

Been trying all weekend to help my brother-in-law get a working phone again after a failed stock OTA update to 4.3.
Sprint told him it couldn't be fixed, so I wanted to give this a try before shelling out money. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2369125&highlight=odin+mode+only
It took a while but I got Odin to install the stock 4.3 update. It ran fine and Odin said passed. I'm not sure what happened, but it never did boot up on the reboot. Now I'm stuck with no recovery or bootmode (both give vibration like the phone is starting, but just black screen forever.) I can get to download mode on the phone, without the memory card work around. But Odin (doesn't seem to matter what version, or USB ports/cords) gets stuck at either Setting up Connection or Initialization.
I've tried updating the PIT file, recovery (stock or CWM/TWRP), and both the 4.3 & 4.1.2 stock firmware updates and none of them have worked. I also tried a stock 4.1.2 one-click with data wiping, which failed at "Get PIT for Mapping".
I'm completely baffled and would appreciate any suggestions!

[Q] I've messed up terribly. Galaxy S4 Odin firmware flash went wrong.

Okay, so I rooted my phone back in December and had no problems at all with firmware 4.3. I had this app called "Clean Master" I think, so it analyzed my device to clean up "unnecessary" files and such. I go ahead a clean whatever it had "cleaned" and then I noticed that when I went into settings that it started freezing for about a minute or so and had to force close the settings. It also started to restart randomly at times and it got to the point where I just got fed up and looked to the internet. I decided to use Odin to Unroot my phone because at the time that's what I thought was causing the problem. This is where I think (I know) I screwed up. Instead of flashing the stock firmware for the T-Mobile Galaxy s4 I flashed this "GT-I9500-XSE-I9500XXUAME1-ROOTED_MAY4". I think I used this file for rooting but I downloaded so many files to get the rooting to work that I don't remember. This file is neither an .md5 file nor a .tar file. I don't know what I was thinking and I regret the decision. I started the transfer of whatever file that was to my phone using the Custom ROM download screen, and it only took about 4 seconds and said it passed. It reboots but ever since has been stuck on the Samsung Galaxy s4 screen. Recently it now says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again. I've tried connecting the device via Kies but IT DOES NOT CONNECT. I'm beginning to think that I've just completely destroyed the phone and will be needing to by another. Any help would be much appreciated. I've tried everything I know. I've wiped the cache, wiped the data and factory reset the phone, but it won't reboot correctly. I'm stuck people. What can I do?

#1: Find the Odin flash rom/firmware for your phone and load Odin with it.
#2: Put the phone into download mode.
#3: plug usb cable into phone and computer.
#4: after you see [COM:xx] light up click START in Odin.
#5: when it gets done flashing let it reboot, have patience.
Forget all about these cleaning utilities, you can do all the cleaning
you want once the phone works properly and once it's rooted.
Only use CF-Autoroot to root the phone for best and trouble free results.
Here is the direct download link for CF-AutoRoot:
http://download.chainfire.eu/328/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-jfltetmo-jfltetmo-sghm919.zip?retrieve_file=1
Good luck!
Misterjunky gives good instruction, if you can get into download mode your phone can be resurrected. In my early days of flashing, I thought I had created an expensive paperweight but the guys on here saved me. One thing, you may have to do a factory reset in stock recovery to get your phone to boot. Happened to me a couple of times.
Good luck.
Flash until you brick!
Ok, so I'm pretty sure I have the right Odin flash firmware, but it all goes really fast and after "aboot.mdn" it stops and it says FAIL. Ok so I tried the md5 file that came with the download and it went through fine, but It's still stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen. Do I need to restart the system now and try the firmware file?

Flash this TWRP custom recovery in ODIN then go into recovery mode and
do a full wipe, data, system, dalvik cache, cache and do a Factory Reset.
Here is the direct download link for the Odin flash TWRP recovery:
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/jfltetmo/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-jfltetmo.tar
Once that's done go into download mode and flash the
stock official M919 4.2.2 firmware (tar/md5) file.
Good luck!
SO I went into recovery mode, but it stays on the "teamwin" screen.
Pull the battery out of the phone, then put it back in and try to boot into recovery again. Sometimes, the recovery will hang like you described. You might have to repeat this process again and again until you get into the main menu of the recovery.
Okay, so I'm sure I'm doing everything right. I flashed the twrp recovery it restarts my phone. I held the power key, home key, and up key on the phone and released the power button when it shows the text on the top left showing that it is going to start recovery. It goes to a "teamwin" screen but freezes there. Truthfully, do you think I will be able to recover my phone, or will I need to send it in to samsung and pay 70 dollars plus the damages?

Do you think the reason why I can't flash the firmware is because I upgraded to 4.3 and it brought KNOX onto the phone?

Are you sure some other people have tried this file on a t-mobile variant? because GT-I9500 is indeed for a galaxy s4, but it's for the octa chipset, which is completely different from the t-mobile variant of the s4 since the t-mobile version is similar to GT-I9505, which is a quad core instead of a octa core
Just to give you guys a heads-up, I fixed my phone, but not by the ways you guys suggested. Not that I'm ungrateful, I am very happy you all took the time to help me out and I appreciate the suggestions. Thank you so much.
Oh and I fixed it by going into kies, clicking on "tools", "firmware upgrade and initialisation", and proceeded to follow the steps and type in my Model name and Serial Number.Fortunately they had the ability for my phone to return it COMPLETELY stock.
Thank you!
