What is the best rom for Stock Android JB+ (No TouchWiz) - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey guys,
I want to ask which rom will give me the best stock android experience that is without TouchWiz?

There are plenty of threads like this if you use the search button.
Look for AOSP based ROM's like CyanogenMOD 10, AOKP, SlimROM, ParanoidAndroid, etc. etc.

Task's AOKP or ParanoidAndroid, haven't tried the latter personally though.
AOKP has a bunch of customization, battery life is amazing, WORKS, and it's just Android no TW!

There is no "best ROM". That would all be left up to personal preference. Your best bet would be to take 10-15 minutes and you could just try them all out in that amount of time to see which one you like or which one works best for your needs.

Bear in mind that CM10.1 nightlies are the only somewhat reliable 4.2.1 ROM at this point, at least from my experience. I tried task650's AOKP, which is 4.2.1 right now, but I was having Google Search FC's which really sucks

Sir as stated above, try them and see for yourself. Too many variables involved, just because you and I have the same device and same ROM...Doesn't mean we will have the same outcome, Thanks and Thread Closed

AOKP vs Sprint ROMs

In my previous life with my TouchPro2, I used the AOSP roms and they worked well. With my Galaxy S II / D710, I've only used the Sprint based ROMs.. including the latest FC07.
I haven't found any posts comparing the AOKP ROM (which, unless I'm mistaken is based off of AOSP) to these Sprint ROMs..
Are there any major differences or anything that the AOKP ROMs will not do?
I'd be curious to hear opinions from people who have tried both and why they ended up with one over the other.
thx
Just to clarify, they're not "Sprint ROM's", they're called "Touchwiz ROM's". The Touchwiz UI is added on top of Android by Samsung then Sprint adds some apps and there you have it. Now I shall let someone who has experience with AOKP answer better for you since I do not have any experience with AOKP yet.
To be quite honest, there's nothing that one can do that the other probably cant. AOKP and AOSP tend to have more things built into the ROM itself like overclocking, etc.
But in the end, no, there's nothing I can think of that one can do that the other can't. There may be something out there, but I've not come across it yet. I've used both, and I prefer somethings about each.

There are some things like cm7 you could use Wii mote with the Bluetooth stack and could not on touch wuz....aokp is cm 9 on steroids..... Lots more customizable

I haven't tried an AOKP rom but I'm assuming it's very similar to an AOSP rom. I personally think an AOSP rom as a lot less bloat, and right out of the box it's very customizable, but I switched back to a touchwiz rom because I think the samsung camera app is one of the best camera apps out there, plus I think touchwiz runs a lot better on our phones.
Aside from a few "bugs" here and there with the FCxx roms that they are basing the AOKP roms off of, there are only a few faults. One I keep on running into is the Netflix problem. Hell, aside from getting sick of trolling this place for over a year combined with my Streak 7 and my E4GT, I had to try and get in on the action with FC and FB "leaks", CM9, AOKP, and other 2.3 based rom fun.
But seriously, the only problem I have keeping me from making AOKP a daily driver is the Netflix problems. I need my netflix for work.

aokp is being ported right now but it is just like cm9 it's built from aosp source code ... And not being based off any of the fc or fb leaks .... They are using kernels from them with changes because there is no kernel source to build a aosp kernel with right now

And I learn something new every day.
As a side note: I like AOKP because of pink unicorns.

AOKP Milestone 6 VS Liquidsmooth V1.5

Hey guys. I'll be flashing a new rom soon, and I wanted to get your opinions on which of these roms to flash. I've been using Liquidsmooth V1.4 but with Jelly Bean I'm considering flashing a new rom.
I tried AOKP when it was still ICS and I decided to switch to Liquidsmooth because it has all the same features that I use and the rom file is smaller so the battery life it better. Battery life is one of my main concerns so it will be one of the main deciding factors for my rom of choice. Please help me make my decision, and only comment if you have actually used both roms in one of their more recent forms.
Also, please include your kernel, and other info you feel is important enough to include. Thanks
Wrong section buddy. Development only in this section.

There are many threads on what ROM. Use the search feature and why are you still flashing ICS-based ROMs? Jelly Bean is out....
CM10 is probably the most feature riched ROM for JB. Thread also doesn't belong in this forum.
Liquid is one of the stupidest roms out there. They've hacked together so many features from different roms and they've done a sloppy job. Switching the icons of the notification powerwidgets doesn't work when you try from the menu (the option is there, it doesn't do anything - that's why I consider it sloppy - there are buttons that are supposed to "do something" but don't do anything.)
Also, they just took Trebuchet launcher of CM9 and just renamed it to Liquid Launcher. I know it's open source but it's still theft, isn't it?
AOKP is also a rom focusing more on features than stability.
I'd suggest you try CM9 - I found it a lot smoother than AOKP and the rom is consistent and works.
Also... wrong subforum - this **** goes to QA or general, not here.

They did the same thing for rom control and renamed it to liquid control.
Wow they really renamed it to liquid launcher? I mean yeah its open source but at least give credit where it's due and not rename a app and put liquid on it.
+1 for cm9. Although like what I said, take a look at a jelly bean roms. Particularly cm10 its really smooth

FNM
I moved from Liquid to AOKP M6 and they're both great.
M6 has given me insane battery life and an awesome balance between features/stability.
Use the 3.1.9.9 Jame Bond kernel and I promise it'l be worth it.

what is the best rom for you?

hello everyone..im just a new gnex user here..i want to ask whats the best rom for you guys?
i try to keep my nexus as stock as possible…. i didn't even unlock the bootloader, i love pure google, although i experienced some bugs, for example my whole gallery was deleted from one day to another… all the pictures lost… this was under 4.1.2

im newbie in here..thats why im asking you guys..
Welcome to the forums as well!
Right now I'm trying out AOKP (Build 5) after coming off of CM 10 (M2). Both AOKP and CM10 are pretty rock solid to me - I've never had any issues with either of them. CM10 have higher benchmark scores than AOKP did, but AOKP (to me) has a much better battery life and allows for far more customization (colors, lock screen, menu, toggles, etc). But even though AOKP doesn't score as high, I don't see any "real" performance hit... if any. I've never really trusted benchmarks on how well my phone will perform... I just like having high numbers to show off ;D
Overall, AOKP is doing wonders for me! Running that along side Air Kernel (with my beloved SmartAssV2 governor).
Here's my advice to you:
- Download a ROM you think you'll like; CM10 for example.
- Go into your custom recovery (CWM or TWRP) and flash it.
- Get it setup the way you want to (ie: Add your apps, settings, kernel, etc)
- Make a Nandroid backup (include boot.img to keep your kernel)
- Wipe everything afterwards and flash another ROM! (like AOKP, Codename, etc)
Just keep doing that until you think you know what ROM you wanna use. Then you can just restore that backup you made and you good to go! ^_^

-Codename android is close to stock with some of the goodies from AOKP and CM10
-AOKP
-Paranoid android if you like messing around with the DPI
Those were my top 3 roms. Feel free to browse and choose a rom in the dev section.
Good luck!
I like MIUI. I recommend downloading different ROMs and trying them out and seeing which one you like. Some are similar to stock but enhanced functionality others are like HTC Sense or TouchWiz with a very different look and feel.
Try a few out.
I personally like the stock experience. Being with Verizon (Toro), we don't get the latest updates 'til probably around 6 months after. In this case, I use BuglessBeast to get the latest with stock experience. Hope that helps!
Read through some ROM posts before flashing. Bugs can pop up in the best of them. I personally like Codename. Just depends on how much customization you want. I agree with the other posts about trying more than one. After all that's half the fun.
My personal favorite is Bamf + diet kernel. There is no bugs what so ever and it is very stock with the customization features that you want.
Xenon HD +Trinity kernel ftw.

I'm running XenonHD form Oct24th. I have tried others and found this ROM working well for me. I did run the XenonHD from 9/29 prior to that. Apparently when I installed a version after 9/29, that one was not behaving well. So I went back to 9/29 until today.
Just finished the install a couple hours ago.
I find the battery life of the XenonHD rom to be very good (for what I do with the phone).
Surely there are many other great ROM's out there and the best ay to find YOUR Rom is to try a few.
Good luck and have fun with your GNex.

[Q] ROM Comparision

I know I will get several critics telling me to just try them, but I would like to ask anyway.
For the following ROMs:
CNA
CM10
AOKP
Liquid Smooth
1. I'm looking for feature lists (I would rather not spend hours scouring gerrit), CNA does have a list, but CM10, AOKP, and LS do not.
2. What are your opinions about these ROMs? Stability, polish, features, speed, etc...
3. I understand that both CNA and Liquid are what you could call "Mutt" ROMs, they are a combination of several (CM10, AOKP, EOS, etc...). So what sets one apart from the other?
You could always just read their development threads. Otherwise, here's your critic response: Try them and see which one you like.
i have never tried CM10. Ive tried aosp, aokp cna and liquid smooth.
actually they are all the same. Developers at last have made their rom stable. Features are the same.
speed probably depends on kernel
Galaxy Nexus JellyBean ROM Feature Comparison

Looking for a new ROM, what's good?

I'm looking for a new ROM based around the same way JellyBAM works. I know most of this site hates JellyBAM but you can't argue with results, unless they're poor results in which case you can.. I just love that I don't have to choose between the stability of CyanogenMod, the phablet mode of ParanoidAndroid, and the customization of AOKP MR1 because JellyBAM intigrates them all.
Are there any other kinds of ROM's out there that are like this or is JellyBAM the only one? The reason I ask is because I don't really understand how JellyBAM can have 7.7.0 working flawlessly, then release 7.8.0 that crashes, camera doesn't work, poor battery life, lots of bugs and glitches, and they call it "stable"? I'm looking for a more honest developer when it comes to a release but I don't wanna lose being able to customize every little thing and run my phone in phablet mode.
Is there any hope for such a ROM or do I need to choose between AOKP or Paranoid if I want an honest developer?
First, this will be closed. Second, it took longer to type that out then to find the two that are like it. If you just look in the development threads you will find two that combine all three of those roms.
