Not exactly, the drivers in the link are modified from the ones in the sdk. If installed correctly with the phone plugged in, under device manager there will be an android bootloader interface entry.

i followed your guide up to the downgrading point and didnt work. i tried this thread too http://androidforums.com/incredible...ow-unlock-downgrade-achieve-s-off-htcdev.html and i get this

I belive what its saying is your misc partition is fubar. This means your partition tables are jacked, and the phone is essentially soft-bricked.

It is probably physically broken. You can try to flash an ruu and see if it takes, but im thinking a needed portion of your flash memory has been damaged or corrupted beyond repair.

I saw ruu on how to unlock the bootloader. I have tired looking it up but nothing comes up .

Download and place this file http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip on your sdcard in no folders, do not rename it. Then boot to hboot (vol down + power), it should find the file and prompt you to press vol up to install. If it dosent find the file, you may need to reformat the sdcard fa32 and then try again.

Thanks I'll try this tomorrow hope it works! I just only want to flash a ROM I think the stock is very ugly

That was the latest ruu (rom update utility), it is ment to redo the entire phone and put it like it was fresh out of the box. If it fixed the phone you should be able to boot to the os like norrmal. Did it flash ok, any errors?

Yeah you need to unlock again by fastboot flashing the unlock_token they sent you before. You can follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506258.

If you don't know how to use adb/fastboot don't do this. Use the search function and google and learn how to use them. If you know everything about them come back. I made a pretty nice tutorial, many people used it already with success. But I won't add anything like "go to startmenu and type..."
If your INFOCID is NOT one of these you need to make a goldcard to downgrade!

HTC__203
HTC__Y13
HTC__102
HTC__405
HTC__304

check with:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader

Here is a great guide how to make a goldcard, follow the first part and come back here then.
Get theses 3 files:

Since this uses some security holes to gain root privileges on your phone some antivirus programs on your pc might warn you that this contains a virus. Thats not the case!

Extract misc_version_01.zip (only misc_version is needed)
Get the PC10IMG.zip from here or download the full RUU from here.
If you already downloaded the 1.34 RUU somewhere else you can skip this step.
Code:
adb push psneuter /data/local/tmp
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell /data/local/tmp/psneuter
adb shell
Check if you have the '#' sign instead of the '$'
If you see the '#' sign you got root!
Code:
/data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.33.405.5
exit
If you have downloaded the 1.34.405.5_PC10IMG.zip copy it to you SD-Card and rename it to PC10IMG.zip.
If you downloaded the full RUU or had it already execute the exe file (mine is called RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe), start explorer and type %temp% in the adress bar.
Look in all the folders starting with a { sign and also in the sub directories if it also starts with a { sign, in one of the subdirectories there should be a rom.zip file with 298.442.206 bytes and the MD5 sum 2ff42897cd27e0db425a2cf36c8bd078.
Copy this rom.zip to your SD-Card on the phone and rename it to PC10IMG.zip
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
(or turn your phone of and on again while holding the trackbad).
Wait till the phone is in bootloader mode (white screen should look like this but with other infos http://www.brutzelstube.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/hboot.jpg)
Select bootloader (vol +/- buttons for navigation and power button for select).
Wait for the phone to scan the sdcard, once it's done it will ask you if you want to start the update. Confirm it and wait till it's done. Reboot with powerbutton when asked.
After the reboot check for version informations, it should show this:
Enable USB-Debugging on your phone
Extract root.zip
Code:
adb install AndroidTerm.apk
adb push busybox /data/local/tmp/
adb push gfree /data/local/tmp/
adb push rage /data/local/tmp
adb push root /data/local/tmp/
adb shell chmod 0755 /data/local/tmp/*
adb push su /sdcard/
adb push Superuser.apk /sdcard/
Start the Terminal app on your phone and type:
Code:
/data/local/tmp/rage
Wait until you see the message "Forked #### childs.", reset Terminal (menu > Reset Term). The Terminal app will close, launch it again. It will force close, launch it again.
You should see the magic '#' sign again.
Next type in the terminal
Code:
/data/local/tmp/gfree -f
, this will turn Security off (S-OFF), remove SIM Lock and set CID to 11111111.
Last step in terminal app on your phone is to execute these commands.
Code:
/data/local/tmp/root
sync
This will root your phone. It's possible that you get an error message "mkdir: /system/xbin already exists", don't worry everything should be ok.
After that restart your phone.
Now get ROM Manager and install the recovery image from there. If you are happy with the 1.34 software everything is done here, if not you can flash anything you want now.
Nice work! We allways need more people using the magic of root

[Q] Temp Root and Downgrade issues 2.3.3

Hi Guys.
I have watched your Noob video and it's very funny.
However,I am going to have to risk being a "noob" due to the fact that im unable to post in the dev thread for downgrading.
I have decided to root my DHD and everyone says this is the place to go to learn how to do it.
I have read the instructions throughly and decided to take the plunge, however I'm having some problems
with the method described in the first post!
Please let me tell you what I have done so far.
1) I have read the posts at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879525 (doesn't seem to apply to me.)
2) I am running Build version 2.50.405.2 (So I need to downgrade.)
3) I have the latest version of HTC Sync installed.
4) I have created a gold card as directed in the "How to downgrade" post and also placed PD98IMG.zip in the root of the gold card
inserted in the phone.
5) My DHD is running Gingerbread 2.3.3, Software number 2.50.405.2 so I followed section b2 of the downgrade thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
However at the end of the cmd process I see a "$" symbol, not the "#" as per the screenshot.
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers.
Greg.
Update: I just tried the method here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152233
for "TEMP-ROOT ANY Gingerbread build and downgrade to 1.32.405.6"
I manage to temproot using the alternative method of typing the adb commands under the Temp Root heading.
I finally get the "#"
I still have the gold card with PD98IMG.zip in the DHD.
I go to Downgrade step 4 and again use the alternative method and type in the commands only for cmd to say
"adb: not found"
AAAGGGGHHHHHHH!
I have been trying this all day.
I'm going to curl up in a corner and cry now.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Greg.

Hey dude.
Tried this, didn't work.
I successfully manage to get temproot using the code you gave, but then on reboot the below happens.
Always, when I get to the boot loader it recognises PD98IMG.zip and looks like it's loading it. After loading it I get a "Checking PD98IMG.zip" message then the bootloader just returns to the main screen, I am never asked if I want to update!
Getting totally flumoxed with this! :-(
So I have made a youtube video of the problem.

You can't just flash PD98IMG.zip when this is an older base then your current.
When your phone is finished checking, it decide not to flash it cause it's older.
Apologies, I should have said I manage to get temproot using the code supplied. I have updated the post now.

I wonder if my PD98IMG.zip file is corrupt.
I just did an MD5 check but it's tough to tell as the original PD98IMG.zip file I downloaded from here didn't have an MD5 Checksum with it
Hi guys.
Quick update. I have successfully downgraded my DHD.
The issue was a corrupt PD98IMG.zip
I downloaded MD5 Check 2.1 from here and tested the checksum of the PD98IMG.zip against the MD5 Checksup posted at the top of the page here, post 261,
Quick Ref - (C3D244A9F056E48EE3851A14FF52204C)
When MD5 Check 2.1 showed it as not matching, I downloaded a new PD98IMG.zip from here.
I used MD5 Check 2.1 to the checksum this new PD98IMG.zip. Success, it matched.
I transferred the new PD98IMG.zip to the goldcard I made using these instructions (I don't know if I actually needed a goldcard).
I put the Goldcard in my DHD, used cmd to run the below code as given by rohithksaj, thanks bud, which echoed the instructions here.
Code:
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell /data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start F0000000 -end FFFFFFFF
adb shell
after this # type:
/data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.31.405.3
exit
adb reboot bootloader
When the DHD rebooted into bootloader, I selected "bootloader", then waited about 5 seconds for the bootloader to recognise the PD98IMG.zip.
the DHD then goes through a process of loading the PD98IMG.zip then it checks the PD98IMG.zip.
Finally the screen that eluded me appeared, the "Do you wish to start update?" screen.
I chose yes, 5 mins later I had a downgraded phone.
Thank you all for your help on this issue.
Props to you all.
Greg.
My next question is how do I change the thread title to "XXXX -Solved"?

I write code a several times and allways stuck at that point... i don't know what to do anymore.. what could be wrong? My WFS is S-ON and it is not rooted yet
gusta1, be sure you are in the directory where you put the files. For example, if you extracted them in D:\WFS\APPS then in CMD you need to type command: chdir D:\WFS\APPS and after that start with step 5 from tutorial.
I have the same problem as gusta1 even I'm in proper folder I've got following message:

I run cmd as admin (Vista), repeated prcedure and restarted phone several times, but with the same result.
But my history is different. I have S-off my Wildfire S successfuly at the begining when I was on 2.3.3. However I put phone to my wife and once phone asked for update to 2.3.5 she allowed it and S-off was gone. Since that I can not move, everywhere is some error.

Hi,
Try this:
After entering "adb shell":
run these commands in adb shell:
rm /data/local/tmp/boomsh
rm /data/local/tmp/sh
Then continue with the step to execute zerg rush.

[Q]Help stuck on fastboot and cwm

Hi this might be a noobish question but i cant find the answer anywhare:
so here's the problem i was trying to fix a badly installed rom, so i wiped the phones storage I then tried to kick myself when i realized that i had just deleted my backup and all the data on the phones internal storage, so now i can only get onto fastboot and clockworkmod recovery 5.8.3.1.
So is there a way to flash a rom in fastboot usb, or mount the phones internal storage so i can copy in a rom zip?
I would be grateful for any help
There is an option in cwm to mount storage you can try that not sure if they work tho.

It will not work.
What you can do other than flashing a RUU is:
Boot to fastboot
fastboot boot CWM_recovery_full name.img
Once it boot to recovery
adb shell
adb push rom_name.zip /sdcard
It will take some times to finish as the rom_name.zip is big.
Once complete, you can flash the rom_name.zip as usual
To make it easier, change the rom_name.zip to update.zip, so you can
adb push update.zip /sdcard
Thank you I have done as you said but i must be doing something wrong because i get this error:
C:\Documents and Settings\me\Desktop\Android>adb shell
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started successfully *
~ # adb push update.zip /sdcard
adb push update.zip /sdcard
/sbin/sh: adb: not found
~ #
(The update.zip is Android_Revolution_HD-One_X_5.1.0.zip)
do you think it could be a problem with my adb.exe or something on the phone?
did you do the "fastboot boot CWM_recovery_full name.img"
going to recovery via hboot will not work.
you need to fastboot boot recovery
and it is adb devices , not adb shell... sorry

my bad
C:\Documents and Settings\me\Desktop\Android>adb shell
change to
C:\Documents and Settings\me\Desktop\Android>adb devices
Then adb push rom.zip /sdcard
ok i think that worked but when trying to find the zip in cwm i just get "no files were found", but in the command prompt it looks like it was copied to the sd card:
C:\Documents and Settings\me\Desktop\Android>adb devices
List of devices attached
HT23WW118450 recovery
C:\Documents and Settings\me\Desktop\Android>adb push update.zip /sdcard
1586 KB/s (577044654 bytes in 355.290s)
That's wierd.
You mean that when you click "choose zip from sdcard" you have nothing in sdcard ?
yes clockworkmod says that the sd is empty.
I'm going to try again with a smaller file and maybe try and access the sd with a different recovery

No. It won't work as sdcard need to be manually mounted first.... that's why I said something about adb shell earlier.
I'll do the testing now:
my step will be:
fastboot boot xx-recovery.img
adb devices
adb shell
mount sdcard
open another cmd prompt
adb push xxx.zip /sdcard
will let you know in a short while
Just tested: this should be the correct way... I can see my xxx.zip when I choose : choose zip from sdcard
*you need to mount the sdcard first before adb push
thank you it worked fine I downloaded the zip to the sd and flashed the rom in cwm, but it didn't work and now i cant boot into recovery it just shows the revery screen for 1/2 a second, and reboots into the bootloader i tried flashing different recovery images but they didn't work.
Is there some way to wipe the phone recovery?

Do:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then press power once to go to hboot then select recovery. It should work.
Thank you
Thank you so much for all your advice i've just successfully flashed a rom and got my phone working again i was starting to fear for my phone.
Thanks again for all your help
ckpv5, when I try to follow your steps, I get "error: device not found" when doing adb shell in the command prompt? How do I fix that?
(My problem is that I formatted everything like an idiot in my phone and the internal sdcard seems to be unmounted or something like that)

If you're on stock ROM, you don't have to do all the step, just simply flash RUU.

I don't have the executable RUU for the Rogers handset, I only have a zip containing a bunch of img files and the executable RUU for the AT&T version (which didn't work, gave me ERROR [131]: Customer ID error or something like that).
Which the zipped RUU for the Rogers handset, I tried flashing the recovery_signed.img and boot_signed.img, relocking the bootloader and then flashing the system.img file but it would give me an error saying data length too large or something like that.
I really don't know what to do anymore

Which custom recovery is working for for your set ? Is the one from One X dev section works for you ? If it is not, I'm afraid unable to help you.
Which custom ROM that you use before the brick ?

Pretty much the only one available for the Evita One X (this one doesn't work if that's the one you are talking about http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1594819):
http://www.modaco.com/topic/354009-interim-clockworkmod-recovery-for-the-s4-based-one-x/
Also, I wasn't able to succesfully flash a custom ROM, when I tried to it just kept giving me random status errors in CWM, I'm starting to think the problem is the hardware and not the software since every solution I try is giving me errors related to unable to install/transfer/blahblah

Problems with root

I have been trying to root my phone. I ended up downgrading my phone back to 2.1, but when I try to flash a rom using the update.zip I end up getting the following errors:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command (this comes up before even trying to run the update)
--Install From sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
I don't have root access. I haven't really found a method that I could understand fully. I want to flash a much better rom on this device. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I too am having problems rooting. Here is an output from adb of what is going on with me. I imagine it is something pretty simple.
Code:
$ cd /data/local
$ chmod 04755 *
$ /data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/mtd0.img
[1] Illegal instruction /data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/mtd0.img
$ chmod 04755 * /data/local/flash_image misc /data/local/mtd0.img
Unable to chmod misc: No such file or directory

Thanks!

Same issue here when running flash_image.
Prior to attempting to run it, though, I can't get the "rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin" to work correctly. When I run it, debug mode never comes back until I reboot the device. So, I tried using superoneclick to root it, assuming that grants enough permission to run flash_image, so I'm not sure if this issue is related or not. (FYI: I'm using the cyanogenmod instructions, which I assume you're trying to do too). (Superonecliek DOES give me a root prompt [#])
Anybody have any ideas?

I have tried googling that, and almost every possible combination of "espresso, android, s-off, root, flash_image, misc, etc.".
I have tried at lease 4 different root methods:
One gets stuck at "adb push exploid /sqlite_stmt_journals" erroring: "failed to copy 'exploid' to '/sqlite_stmt_journals': Read-only file system"
One gets stuck at the place i described in my prior post.
Others fail otherwise.
One thing I haven't tried is factory resetting the phone (clear user data) before trying.
I've spent hours and hours researching and trying things for this. Just keep getting stuck.
I'll see how it goes from scratch tonight (forgot to bring my microSD card with me today).
Solved on my end, if anyone else is wondering...

For some reason, factory resetting was the key.
Thanks for the suggestion to google, though.
problem with rooting
pls i nid help urgently.
i hav been on attemps to rooot my t-mobile mytouch 3g slide for more than four weeks but have been unable to get at anything untill i stumbled over the superoneclick method which helped me to effect root, but i got stocked at the point on of flashing clockmod recovery. instead of displaying the downgrading bar at the uper right angle in recovery mod after holding down volumedown and pressing power, it takes me to the this "image not found....." and the
fastboot
recovery
.bootlaoder
........
if i select recovery, it will tell me
E: cant open .......catche......bla bla bla,
it will display the options to r
reboot system
,....update.zip from sdcard,
wipe catche/factory reset
wipe catche/sdcard partition
(this is just an idea of what is displays not exactly word-for-word).
if i select install update.zip from sdcard it ends up telling me several junks and that update.zip file verification failed.
PLEASE WHAT DO I DO GUYS.ALMOST FED UP PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
