[SOLVED] (Q) Battery saving tips needed - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guyz. I need some tips to improve my willy's battery performance.
1) Should i use "Easy battery saver" or "juice defender" ?
2) what settings should i choose ?
3) i'm using Rempuzzle rom and have overclocked it to 691 Mhz - 352 Mhz.
4) are there any scripts ?
I use my mobile alot and it doesnt lasts for for more than 12 hours... in that time battery decreases to less than 15% & then i charge it.
5) supercharger or juwe ram optimization ? Or both ?
6) setcpu governor ? Ondemand or smartass ?

To choose between the apps my opinion will be to try them and to see which works best for you. I would also have the governer smartass v2 (it is in cm7 settings however i don't know about rempuzzle). There is the v6 supercharger script. It improves battery life, here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2043498&highlight=script. Check your display settings and having a constant mobile internet connection drains your battery (especially if you have a lot of accounts like whatsapp, gtalk, etc.).

And you can downclock it If you are not play games, will see no difference if it is on 576mhz or 691mhz I tested app launch speed with all frequencies and it is not noticeable, but try it. I guess battery saving apps wont help much. (at least did not worked for me)

Downclock it ? Its a wildfire buddy not a galaxy note 2.. its one of the slowest and decreasing processor not good idea for willy.

I know, have one just sayin you can test it no harm if u play games overclock it of course. Dont look for MLFLOOPS or how its called... just use it and get stopwatch i tested like on launching apps coz that is the only thing that is bit slow. Try and see for yourself. I mean, find optimal settings. Good luck

Yeah seems i found a fine combination. Using cm7.2 and setcpu setting profiles etc but best rom is rempuzzle handsdown

CPU tuner
Oh... that just reminded me do download CPU tuner and give it another chance Before i had problems with it, but it was another rom, anotha kernel...
Did not take me long to set up and to test it.
I use screen on/screen off trigers.
Screen on max frequency: 576mhz (OC when needed)
Screen off max frequency: 176mhz
Kernel version: 2.6.35.14-nFinity [email protected] #1
And there is no lag when it waking up!! So far so perfect

So i found the answer.
Best stock rom: rempuzzle
Use setcpu, set profiles
Overclock to 710 max 352 min
Governor: smartass
For cyanogenmod:
Best rom: cm7.2 (stable)
Set profiles wirh setcpu
Overclock max 710 min 352
Governor: smartassv2
For good performance as well as battery life.

no
I can not agree.
For cynogenmod, best ROM version is nightly as i had sound bugs, in-call volume etc. with stable 7.2... (and all based roms on stable)
And in nightly only bug is when you take screenshot. (sometimes do it right, sometimes do not)
Either min clock freq can go to 264 as well!!!
And use CPU tuner it is free :good:

You have your opinion and i have my own

yup everyone has their own opinions and hence no one could decide a beat rom for all.
And btw,rempuzzle isn't a stock rom,its a 'custom sense rom'.

I think it's better to overclock via CM settings, but for any other ROM you must use SetCPU or simmilar apps to overclock

Sir, please help me here. This is why i'm asking this question because i can't overclock my wildfire, after i set it with maximum to 768 mhz and minimum to 710 mhz, playing fruit ninja is still all laggy.
here's some specs of my phone:
HTC wildfire
CM7 stable (7.1.0.1-buzz)
Android version: 2.3.7
Kernel: [email protected] #1
S-off with revolutionary
thanks in advance sir

hello dude... I will give u the clear idea...
u can use both Set CPU or Inbuilt setting in CM...... but the difference is that "set cpu" or any other similar tools will have the option of making profiles... that is the only advantage, so u can go for anyone thats not a problem, but i suggest SETCPU..
And u cannot overclock above 691Mhz in cm 7.1.0.1... if u do so, then it will stuck up.. so i use max - 672 & min - 2XX... with "on demand" profile in SETCPU.. It runs quite smoothly.....
All the best...

Just because you can't doesn't mean others can't, I run perfect at 788 and know others do too.
Its the tolerance of your CPU which determines how fast you can o/c not the rom.

oh if it is true sorry for that... but here we 3 people using that rom in htc wildfire, cant o/c above 691... and also a friend of mine who had same problem as above, but he can able to o/c at 768Mhz in a different rom (not cm 7.1.0.1 as we used).. think its rooted wildfire with android 2.2..

Scratch is totally correct.stable Overclocking is totally CPU dependent and doesn't matter which rom ur using. Now you might not be able to o/c some roms due to the KERNEL!!!
I can overclock also to 768 but seems my phone works best at 633.

which is which sir ? do i need to flash another kernel ?
No....... just leave the kernel alone, the chances of you being able to o/c anymore than you can already are slim + you probably wouldn't even notice the difference in speed anyway.
Also fruit ninja doesn't work for me either, its probably because we have no gpu.

OC is not always safe, but putting 1200 max on this one is not dangerous...
To change governor / frequency and ram rules... I use the "Rom Toolbox".
I use Flinnys JB rom, it has CPU settings in Performance options (I think any CM based rom should have those) that allow you control min, max fequencies and governor. And given that Flinny includes kernel that supports overclocking you pretty much don't need any extra software to overclock. I set my device to 245-1500 with interactive governor. In conjuction with background process limit set to 2 device performs very well.

[Q] My max CPU freq locked at 1.3 ghz?

hey guys recently i have noticed something while benchmarking.....my max cpu frequency is locked at 1.3 ghz...i use xm 305 with arhd 21 and if i set my max freq to 1.5 ghz with performance governor on so it should clock my cpu to 1.5 ghz regardless what i do right????but my cpu is still displayed to be at 1.3 ghz(its displaying in trickster app info page)
i tried setting min freq to 1.5 ghz and it is still clocked at 1.3 ghz???
because of that i am kinda lagging in vice city and getting a little low score in benchmarking....
so should i reflash the kernel??or use different app?

if you use Set-Cpu see if u have some Profile on that cap cpu at 1.3Ghz
It's XM305 that is at fault. On ARHD21 and XM305 I, and others, have frequency locked at 1.3GHz.
XMister isn't available until September I think when he should return.
Change kernel and all should be well.

No, not all of them do. I know for a FACT #285 works fine because I was using that before #305.
I tested #303 and #304 and they had the same issue.
Beyond that I don't know.
I tested Trip's NEXT Tegra 4, very nice and fast, but found the battery usage a little high and it's a little light on features, no S2W or LP OC for example.
ATM I am using n3okernel v44 and very happy with it.

Trickster, SetCPU, fauxClock, System Tuner, they will all let you SET max CPU speed to 1.5GHz but there is something in the kernel clock-locking some CPU's at 1.3GHz and until XMister returns...

ur phone is laggy, why not try apps like clean master to clear cache n no-frill cpu control (set min:386 n max:1024mhz, stock is min:245 n max 1402mhz). set governor to performance noop and i/o scheduler to noop (first in, first out), it will smooth most operations. :good:

The last thing you should do is get an app like Clean Master. Its true. Android is smarter than you think. They automatically clear RAM for you when you use apps of high RAM usage. Check this article out. Mumbo-jumbo
i've been using it for sometime and like it very much compared to others task killer. :good:
it does things like getting rid of junks, clear cache when needed, kill apps on sleep that prolong my battery use.
i dun use my phone as alarm becoz it wun wake me up, its too soft, i got a bigger n louder alarm clock.
somehow it felt better and with no-frill cpu control settings gives even smoother operations.
fully charge and pull out the plug, left it for 5~6 hrs still at 98% charge, before it will drain of like 20~30% of the battery.
it be great if android pause tasks and stop battery drain but it is not doing what it should be intended.
nope, i already trying the solution that you guys give( used diff kernel, oc n many other thing), but it still lagging...i just dont get it coz this rom is really great and smooth (beside sky force)

Gpu overclock up to 320Mhz

You need a unlocked bootloader
And a custom kernel
I recomend
Trinity kernel for general performance
Forzaferrarileo for a great balance
And doomkernel for stability and balance

can u post here a diffrence between stock mhz and oc-ed one?? Im curious how much power does that give
Im ising pureslim 4.4 now so no oc for me now but just asking ;p
200mhz 2d
266mhz 3d
As oposed to

320mhz 3d
With an OC your ui will become smoother and games will lag less
Also some benchmarking apps prove that you can beat a samsung galaxy s3

There you go.. say thanks to envious_data.. couldn't have explained it better.. Normally the clock for,
2D - 200Mhz
3D - 266Mhz
But we can overclock gpu to obtain,
2D - 266Mhz
3D - 320Mhz
Phone will run with no lag at all.. And it's super smooth.. I haven't tested it's effect on the battery yet though.. I don't actually use it much.. Unless if I want to play Asphalt 8 without lag..
Hope you understood..
Thank me if I helped..

the effect on battery is almost un noticable,
this is because its a small change (as oposed to a cpu oc (much higher frequencys and higher voltages required)
xperia s uses gpu and cpu to display
and finaly most kernels with a gpu oc usualy have a gpu undervolt meaning per frequency step it uses less power as oposed to stock
<(`^´)> knowing is good!!!
