Hi all,
I have been using cyanogenmod 10 beta 2 for a long while, this morning after making a call, set the phone down for a bit. later when i picked it up, the screen wasn't coming on, so thinking it was some frozen application, reset the phone by pulling the battery out.
when it started booting up, it wouldn't go past the samsung splash screen. I was able to access cwm recovery (volume up + power button) at this moment though. someone on here advised that i should try a nightly but seeing as how i couldn't get access to put anything on the SD card, i flashed what i had at that moment, cm 10 beta 2 (didn't erase cache or dalvik). flashing this still resulted the phone not being able to get past the samsung splash screen but now i can't get into cwm recovery either. I am able to access odin mode though.
How would I go about solving this dilemma without losing user data if possible?
Flash el26 kernel in odin. Backup the rom in cwm. Either flash a new rom. Or odin a one click. Then use titanium backup pro to extract the apps from the backup. Only way I know how to do it. Others may chime in. As I'm sure that's not the only way

yeah i did, then volume up to go into download mode. there's was no progress bar on the phone after clicking start on the pc so i shut it off. I can still get into odin mode.
was planning on trying this "SPH-D710_FI27_CL1127689_Rooted_Restore_v2" next to see if that would work. really not sure what to do.
Are you sure that the proper drivers were installed? You should reinstall them either ways just to be sure. Then retry Odining your file

Blue light that blinks on and off or blue light that stays on?
On/Off might be saveable, just probably need to charge the battery on another device or external charger.

nope, it's a constant blue light. will most likely sell for parts now as the display is in pristine condition (had screen protector from the beginning). whats the going rate for sell for parts?

I got in way over my head, and I'm humbly asking if someone is willing to help.
After messing around with things I had no business messing around with, I get a start up screen that says Samsung Galaxy SII with a caution/warning symbol below it.
I can restart it into Download mode (power, volume down) and Odin recognizes it plugged into my computer.
If I try to get into the Bootloader (power, volume up), I get a few options, but the Enter (power) button doesn't let me select anything.
At this point, I don't even know if I'm using the right terminology. If anyone can talk on the phone or Skype, you will have my eternal gratefulness.
Thanks, and sorry for treading where I shouldn't.
Let's start from the beginning: what did you flash, what recovery do you have now and can you get into download mode?

First thing you need to do is download the EL 29 one click from SFhub. After that going to download mode and use the one click .

I followed QBKing77's video on how to root on FF18. It went fine, I did a root check and had the superuser icon.
Then I followed his video on installing CWM. Did that.
Downloaded CM 7 zip and tried installing it through the bootloader (Agat or something like that). It would get to the end, and give me a Status 7 error.
In frustration and stupidity, using Odin, I installed some .tar file, and that killed it.
Yes, I can get into download mode.
I hope that answered your question. I just want to know how to either a) get it to CM7, or b) go back to stock.
Thanks!
Enter is the home button. Also you might be on stock recovery. Ya its recovery not bootloader. Does it say <3e> ?

I can get into the ODIN download mode, but every rom I download fails. I want to through this freaking phone as I've been working on this for hours with many different roms and they ALL fail. Any help please and thank you - Adam
Not sure what your doing or how. Sounds like you got an OTA and tried to install it. Or you're installing something else.
But if you have an Epic 4G Touch (Sprint).
Then here is your solution.
Download sfhub's One-Click here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229 [Choose Reset or No data, your choice.
Install the latest Samsung drivers http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.c...342248/Sprint_d710_USB_Driver_v1_3_2360_0.exe
Put your phone into download mode:
Power off completely
Then Hold the Power On + the Volume Down buttons till you get to a 'confirmation' screen and click the Volume Up button to enter 'Download Mode'.
Launch the One Click on your PC.
Then plug you phone into the PC via USB cable. You should see a COMM port light up.
Then click on start and you will be back to stock (and rooted).
If you want a CWM recovery (and kernel, they are together) you can use sfhub's 'Autoroot' package to add that.
The directions there are VERY detailed and simple to follow.
Take your time.
Read through the stickies, how tos and tutorials and through the many posts by the developers. Or you will end up with a pretty paperweight.
Good luck
Still don't know what is wrong with my phone, every time I ODIN=FAIL

I recently acquired an Epic 4G Touch that wouldn't boot into the stock ROM. I thought "Awesome! The ROM must be corrupted. I'll just Odin it back to stock and have a new SG2." Well, I tried Odining it back to stock. I tried the Gingerbread EL29 stock tar image and it hung on the Sbl.bin. I thought maybe my download was just corrupt but after trying 2 other GB odin images it still wouldn't flash. Then I tried flashing CWM recovery through odin and that hung at NAND Write Start. I've switched cables, USB slots and computers. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. I would really like to get this phone running so I can upgrade my SGS1.
Edit- Just to clarify, I never tried to flash anything through CWM. I tried flashing a kernel that had CWM through Odin.
I put the ROM into the PDA slot. Here's what happened in Odin:

Agreed.
Op - You're trying to write to the phone and, my guess is, you're making a bad situation worse since your getting partial writes. Especially that first screen where pit was mapped and partial flash took, such as boot.

Ok. Try this to get into Recovery
Press and hold the vol up+power button until the splash screen shows up
After the splash shows release the power button and then continue to hold the vol up button. It should take you right to recovery.

I've done this atleast 20 times (21 now after this post) and it just sticks at the Samsung Galaxy S2 screen. I'm sure I screwed it even further by trying to flash CWM recovery. When I first got it, it booted into the recovery screen but wouldn't actually fully load into recovery. I would just get the Android character but no text. These are the weirdest issues I've ever had with an Android device.

That is possible. You can try to call Sprint and tell them you/a friend was trying to update to ICS and rebooted and it wont boot fully. Act dumb and see if they will replace it. Since it won't boot to anything at all, there is really no way for them to tell. Just say that you bought it from said friend. It is worth a shot. I have done it before with AT&T when I screwed up a Captivate doing a hardware mod.
I just told them that I bought it online and tried to update it but after the update, it wouldn't power on. They let me replace it.

One Click restores are built with the proper pit of 9-16-11. But it sounds like he's already tried multiple builds.
Flashing each component isn't a bad suggestion but with using the pit, I wouldn't necessarily use just a rom, I'd use a tar since it would contain everything needed to restore the bootloader (boot, Sbl, param, recovery..)
Or try flashing an built bootloader to see if he could get back into recovery alone. There are a few already made in RWilco's Repo..
For one reason or another, i had a lot of crap on my internal storage of my Galaxy Note 2. For one reason or another, i had a lot of crap on my internal storage of my Galaxy Note 2. I booted into the volume up + power + menu mode and formatted my sd card thinking that it would wipe the data and start me off fresh. However for some reason i also decided to format everything else, and now my phone is stuck on the samsung logo when i boot up, Any help guys? :/

You can either flash it using toolkit which will automatically open up Odin or just go straight to odin

All you need is the original firmware, flash that thru Odin and you'll be back up and running...
Go to section#5 for your firmware.

Alright guys, thanks i fixed it. Apperently i was using the wrong stock rom verson of the N7100 instead of my SGH-T889V. The odin flash worked and now m y phones back up and running. Thanks again for all your help!
Hello,
So I installed the Rainbow 7 rom and it worked great for 2 days. Next thing I know Im stuck at the Samsung note 2 screen. Im like OK lets open TWRP and restore from Backup. Some how I manage to erase the OS and now I can't even return to Stock. When I try to flash tar I get failed. Phone does go into download mode fine and recovery. TWRP shows my sd and internal as (0) MB but when I use my ext sd card on pc all files are there so cant flash via recovery. Kies does not work either I tried the latest version of TWRP via Latest version of ODIN nothing file is good then I get The Below with OH3

With NE2 STOCK in Odin I GET note 2 re-partition operation failed.............
I have always been able to restore my backups or flash back to stock but this time in Stuck. Any Thoughts?
TWRP states no OS found even if I wiped all of the system and data files Should I not be able to go back to stock ? I've tried NE2 and OH3
I have searched and searched and tried but nothing seems to work. If it boots to download mode and recovery it's not a hard bricked it ??
FYI I have tried 2 pc's using different ports and different cables also
When you boot into recovery does it show failure to mount any partitions (system, data, cache)?

I seen a few other users with same issue. Only way that I have seen it fixed is by replacing the main board. Sorry to give bad news.

Ahhh okay thank you
Would you know if switching out the board is just plug and play ?
You could always try to Odin back to stock. Since you can get into recovery i imagine you can get into download mode. Its worth a shot before you order a board and open the phone. Link for the process I was suggest the PC version

Edit: fixed link to reflect the correct bootloader.

Thanks I'll Give it a shot but it has failed in the past
I dont know if this matters but according to the rainbow 7 install instructions I was supposed to have bootloader of 4.3 or newer.. if i didnt could. This be the cause of everything. I can't believe there isn't a way to fix this without changing the board.
It could very well be why it fails the link above was to the 4.4.2 bootloader if it doest help or fail I have no idea about swapping out the board. I've replaced antanneas and ifixit has a complete teardown of the phone https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_II hope you figure it out. Sorry I wasn't much more help

So I got a clean logic board. Just have to install it and The phone should work fine ?
Thank You
Yes a new logic board should fix your issues. Just remember you'll have to activate that one because it's a totally different meid/esn. I had to swap one on an s3 because of a bad port. Sure it's similar too since it's Samsung.
