I realize this is a forum for a completely different phone, but as there isn't one for the Ace IIx, I was wondering if there are any custom ROMs for this phone. Or for that matter, any developers. I was specifically looking to get CyanogenMod on here, or Jelly Bean, as I don't predict this phone will get an update anytime soon.

With ICS sources you can build CM 9. 10.1 too if you're good.
So far, no one from Ace II has tried building CM. As for custom roms, if you have your phone's system.img.md5 then I think we can make a debloated rom or even with a few other features.
Kernel dev would be Hafiz. You should know that if you want help for a kernel, you should be willing to test it. No worries, it wont brick.

Considering any phone with "M" at the end of its model number is Canadian... we are the only ones with this phone, and apparently 90% of the world is unwilling to even learn how to use technology, so...

CM9 sources... and a device tree. I think I could try building a ROM with one of the guides floating around on the Internet, but a device tree? Got no clue.
As for the custom ROM that's not CM and kernel, are you saying some Ace II devs would be willing to help? Our devices are so different though.

Of course some of us would test. I do have a backup phone, but it is a far worse phone than this one (ironically it now has CM10.1 on it, though it's not as fast as CM7.2 was). Would simply popping in my SIM to my old phone restore its functionality if it's still locked to the same carrier?

Hey studying up on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018411 may be a good place to start. Naturally since this is a att forum the files to be inserted would come from an att ROM but I don't see why it wouldn't work if you substituted T-Mobile files in place of the att replacement ones wouldn't work. It will open up a bunch of tw based ROMs but it'll give ya a good learning experience for one day working in aosp if your interested in it. Hopefully some more people interject on this because I think it would be beneficial to all of our forums to get this solid.

In most cases your modem is not effected by flashing our roms. You only flash a modem if you loose your data connection. Im not sure about kernels but I dont think that would effect anything either. Not on tmo so can't say fir sure.

People with TMo have been flashing CleanROM just fine. I can't speak for the other ROMs, but I'm pretty sure they're all on the same base...which isn't even an AT&T base

1. Cm10.1- obvious(it is being worked on so no need to comment)
2. Cm9 im in air on this one. Its ics which we have but we should get jb very very soon.
3. Latest stock pimped out with aroma. If many dont know about aroma roms, its basically a customizable rom that lets you build your own version with tons and tons of options. I will of course be adding many many many addons to the current list.
4. Skinny revisted.
5. Insert idea from you guys.

Well, it will be official. I personally have not done any work on it. However given that this is not like the photon and wont change other devices just to build it will definitely be official.

The thing I want most is CM 10.1. Now, my question is what about LTE? I know it was a massive effort to get wimax working with cm7/9 on the evo/evo 3d. If LTE won't be working then my next choice is a slimmed down stock rom with performance/battery mods, lightly themed. And a nice kernel to go with it

I obviously have no clue about any of this, but shouldn't you be able to take the gpu drivers from the nexus 4 since it's the same hardware? I would think that the camera and lte would be the biggest issues.

The n4 has a 3.4 kernel, we have a 3.0 kernel. So no its not as simple as using them. If we had a 3.4 kernel it could work

If the source to korean jb is close, then skip cm9 and go for option 3 (pimped out stock rom). Its faster that way right? It should keep people happy till source drops.

Omg joker!! I won an s3 yesterday and decided to trade it for an optimus g instead. So happy and I did! Only because you are here! You did great with the photon I'm sure you will do fantastic with this. I just hope its not as closed as the photon was.

nope we should get 4.2.2 because samsung has stated that is the last update any galaxy s 2 will get but we have yet to get 4.1.2 as it looks now we might be stuck on 4.0.4 forever

i personally dont want to ask for an eta because i dont even ask the devs here for those (nor will i ever ) but if they would at least say " hey we are working on it and here are the problems we are having" saying that would be such a nice gesture and maybe some devs would help out so they could hurry up and push the update

The t989 devs have put out a literal tonne of jb roms already.
And if you are talking about xda devs helping get official jb out....well.....I will just say not gonna happen. Xda devs are not affiliated with google, samsung or the carriers in any way.
So...I could care less when official jb comes out....cause I've been running it already for months!

I just installed embryo 6.8 today. So far so good! Was using Whitehawkz Aokp 4.2.2 for about a month...its very good! I just wanted to try a TW rom again, since last time I did there were alot more issues on the t989. Seems most of its been ironed out now....even have signal bars now.
Anyway, those are the 2 I've used recently. There are a bunch of great current roms tho! Just read thru the different rom threads to see what folks are saying about them.
Remember....for what I do with my phone I have very few if any issues....but for what you do with your phone...that could be different. Just nandroid a safe good backup....and flash anything that appeals to you. If you don't like, then restore your nandroid.

some things can be ported (like themes), but some of the apps are hardware specific and probably wouldn't work on our phone.

T-Mobile has announced software updates for the many of the devices I've used over the years and rarely have they ever followed through. There are plenty of JB ROMs that are worth looking at that will blow any T-Mo OTA out of the water.
And the T989 doesn't have the hardware capacity to run what the S4 will be able to run.
I noticed that the 10.1 section is empty. Will a custom rom from another size work?

Unfortunately no since both of the other Tab 3 variants use different CPUs. Think at this point it may be some time before anything gets going on the 10.1. I'm not really sure what the stigma is here it seems to be a pretty good performing tablet would be nice to have root to remove the bloatware and make better.

I don't think that it's necessarily a dead device just need someone to actually take a look at it instead of believing that theirs nothing good about it. From what I've seen so far it seems to have good battery life and not half bad in performance either and contrary to what I've seen in the reviews the GFX performance it actually also very good as well it beats my TF700 pretty solidly though resolution may be a factor there.

Its a very new device! I have a Razr I with intel chip also, we have root a some custom roms but no lucky with cm, pa or pac roms, :/

Thanks for taking the initiative on rooting the 10.1. I've had one for quite some time and can't wait until rooting and roms can start coming in. Too many samsung features that are awesome, but I personally dont need taking resources and would like to remove.

I hate with a PASSION the TouchWiz UI and all the bloatware on Samsung devices. Since CM isn't supporting this device for whatever reason, what ROM do you guys suggest using that is close to CM (or AOSP) on this tablet?

If you don't care about the cameras like I do we do have cm since your on sprint t217s one. I don't think I can post links but its in general, the thread is some stuff for the d2lte, the thread was started by interloper.
Its unfinished and try not to spam the thread, idk if he's still working on it but its close to being done.

oh my racist.. Q_Q maybe it will work, is like they said that l9 p768 would not work the camera if you flashed cm for p760. that was the only bug but since they find a mod/fix for that you can use cm on p768. let see if it work i will try it.

I would highly recommend getting all original firmware and the Odin for your device before you flash, just in case of a brick.
From what I can think, the developer working on cm for your device can ask interloper for permission to use his repo to port cm to your device. I remember when cm11 was being developed for my s3 they used Verizon repos to get it to boot and function properly for sprint. I know there's a thread somewhere for a non bootable version for t210 somewhere.

From what I can think, the developer working on cm for your device can ask interloper for permission to use his repo to port cm to your device. I remember when cm11 was being developed for my s3 they used Verizon repos to get it to boot and function properly for sprint. I know there's a thread somewhere for a non bootable version for t210 somewhere.

yeah, that was the first thing the same day i bought this tab. the original firmware. i love how every time we bought a phone most of us like to lose the warranty the same day. i wish they could release a cm for the t210 user. but i think the only focus on sim/gsm band phones. since huawei already have a cm and other roms and the tab 3 not yet. since most of the Samsung phones have at least a cm rom, at least 1.

The 8 inch models just blew up recently with all ROMs pretty much. They have slim which is a fav on all I have. So its just a matter of time before 7 does.
With that said....I hope its before tab 4 with a cm friendly CPU.
