I have been with tmobile since its inception and my contract just ran up, I want to upgrade to the galaxy s3. The cheapest I found it so far was at best buy for $229 but Im hoping to find one for as close to $199 as possible... any suggestions?

edit: I actually just found this thread. Should help get a cheaper price.

If your contract is up, call 611 & when prompted for input say "cancel". This should get you to the loyalty department, 'inform' them you are thinking of switching to AT&T because they offered you free Galaxy S3s if you did. They will definitely give you a better price than you can find anywhere as far as retailers are concerned. Please report your success story with us
My dad simply just called customer loyalty and said we were thinking of switching and what's the best they could do for us. So I ended up getting the 32gig white s3 for 240 and that includes shipping and all fees

Take it from a man that makes his OWN deals. If you tell them you aren't too satisfied and another carrier is already "courting" you they will make you a better offer than what this kid above listed. Trust me.
No offense kid.

Agreed! T-mobile has been losing contract customers in significant numbers to either pre-paid or other carriers. This above strategy used to work for me... until I found a family member that works there... That's what you really need!
Just to add to the info on what you should be able to easily get: my contract expired and I called to "verify" that it was. I also mentioned that I could get the same phone for $150 less with another carrier at the time. She immediately offered the phone for $229 (16gb) with a $150 bill credit to bring it down to $79. PLUS she gave me the $20 5gb data plan and a $10 monthly credit for 24 months! Also got free overnight shipping. Oh and I still get to send in for the $50 rebate!
Hope that helps give you an idea what to shoot for.

If you're off contract tmobile will do close to anything to keep you if you have been loyal (5+ years, no late payments)
For me I always jump on the latest and greatest so i'm constantly under contract, tmo still honors my loyalty and gives me great pricing along with monthly discounts.
I'm ready to buy a s3 for tmobile. I have a few questions:
- Any advice before buying one?
- Should I take any safety precaution before buying on the street? [I heard of people buy phones from people that cancel their plan on the carrier right after]
- Should I just save up and buy the beefed up model the i9305? [I dont really use the phone for internet that much, but I like games and apps]

I love this phone, above all other android phones which is alot.
If at all possible buy from t-mobile. In the street if you are lucky you will get one for $350 to $400. If you have an upgrade available then you will paying about that much, unless you go thru customer loyalty or retention department(really depends if you been with them 2 or more yrs for best deals, so I have read).
I have not had any stuters while playing a couple games , darkknight rises, robo defense, spades and a few others
If you are able to play with phone before buying. Press *#0*# and it will show you Lcdtest page. Which will let you test all hardware function of phone .

alright cool, i'll try it out when i get the chance
Id advise against buying "off the street". Too many have gotten screwed doing that.
But many have got great deals that way too, so its your call.
I wouldn't get the international version. You won't get as great of speed as the T999. Maybe 3g if your areas been refarmed.
LTE is too far off still to make that a buying point imo. By the time your area gets it you'll be ready to get a better phone. GS5 maybe!?
That's a great point btw about doing the hardware testing before buying off the street!
Ill add that if you can, go with the seller to a tmobile store to check the imei isn't blacklisted and get the seller to have them print something showing the phone has been 100% paid off.

I'm over on the s2. I called TMobile to see about how much it would be for me to get into the phone. The one I want is the 32g. Well I'm still under my contact. It was about 700 dollars lol. Well I can get it but I'm gonna need to sale my s2. I think I'll get more if I sale it rooted already then I would unrooted that way I wouldn't be paying so much for the phone.

Prefer the unlocked S3.
Like what people above said, call retentions. They offered me the s3 for 99 bucks. But I think I will still wait till black Friday deals. I have a galaxy nexus so I'm in no hurry.
If you're not in a hurry either wait for black Friday.

I have giant hands and I think the note 2 is too big. I don't watch enough movies on my phone to have to hold a tablet PC up to my ear. SGS3 fits perfectly... its nice and sleek... lightweight... and is a beast when it comes to performance. I love it.

I currently have the sgs3 and I need to get my wife a new phone. I don't have any upgrades available on my tmob account right now, so I would be paying full price if I wanted to get her a new phone. I have a friend who works at tmobile who said he/she could get me a NIB Galaxy Note II for $450. I want to know your thoughts on if this is a good deal or not. Obviously I know it's a better deal than paying full price. But I want to know if you think it's good enough to upgrade from my sgs3 or not? My wife could care less, as long as she can text and surf Facebook, she's contempt. Btw, she has the HTC MyTouch 4g.

Off contract for $450? Either stolen or... I dunno. Some crazy bending of a rule. If it's too good to be true (this is most likely) than it prolly is.

Only problem is its done online and they have to ship the phone and its a mail in rebate. If i print it out and take it to best buy will they price match and I get the phone same day?

I think they do. But it has to be a published price, so I don't think your employee discount will count. They need like a newspaper ad or to be able to pull up a webpage (like Amazon) by themselves and see the cheaper published price.
Do they match the retail price? If so take the picture of Costco's retail price and bring it in and have them sell you the phone for $350 off contract.
This question isn't even in the wrong section, it's on the wrong website.

Ok heres the thing. Even if they price match or not best buy does not sell the phones at their stores anymore that has to be done online or over the phone. Atleast thats what I was told for my wifes phone which I just got like 2weeks ago on sale for $50 which was a s3 . Maybe just maybe yours might sell it in stores idk. Like I said thats just what I was told. But the bright side is they got shipping for like 5 bucks comes in 3days flat
Yeah that's my problem I'll be without a phone for a week because I have a sprint s3 but ex cut it off. So im selling that paying 400 deposit and getting tmobile

You can buy Verizon, sprint and at&t in store but T-Mobile you have to order online or they can do it for you. That's how it is over here at least.

Yup same here another silly policy from tmobile, maybe they think you would leave them and join other carriers if your at the store. That tells you how sucky and not confident they are.

It's not a policy made by T-Mobile. By federal law, a retail store cannot sell all 4 main carriers (don't ask me why). Therefore it is up to the resaler to choose which 3 they want to sell. For example, Target chose not to sell Sprint.

I went in with my just about dead Note 1 (random reboots and freezes even after multiple resets to stalk) and got $150. Might have gotten more on ebay selling for parts (maybe) but no hassle . That's how no ended up with the note 2 which is so much better

Are you guys serious?
Whatd you expect from the carriers.
Thats the same crap as htc' s trade in for the one "we'll give you 100 $ for your 500 $ phone"
Yeah no thx .
Its like going to a stealership to sell your car. " is that all your going to give me???"
No....I'm not serious. ...
But I do find great pleasure in complaining about it...g
I like how most people complain about how much they get on trade in. Seriously? You bought the phone under contract and its used. What do you expect? For att to give you full price on a phone that you might of paid $99 for and used it for 6 months. If you dont like the prices then dont sell it. Easy as that. But if you wanna whine about the value then here is your thread to cry in. Maybe one day one out of the few of you might grow up and be happy someone is paying for a phone you no longer use.

Says who????
What we paid for it doesn't matter anyways...as with anything in life. And even if it was bought under contract, you're still paying for the rest of the price over the two year contract.
I guess when I sell my house I should sell for way under it's value because of what I bought it for??
Im not complaining im laughing at people rushing in to get ripped off yet again by the carriers!
Hmmm lets see...sell my phone on cl or ebay for about 350...or trade it in for 100 $ or less.....dayum thats a tough choice!

Not at all. Just on a different scale. When the new iPhone comes out and people pay 200 for them look and see what they go for online. What you paid for it has nothing to do with what its worth.
