Unable to send/receive texts after flashing Verizon radio. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys. I've been able to flash the Verizon prl's on my phone but have the same issue with them. They all work great (data is awesome) but I am unable to send or receive texts while roaming. I've played with the roaming settings but nothing works. I am able to get calls and make them. Any ideas?

I assume you mean you cannot send MMS as sms is text and you said that worked ..
Try a different SMS/MMS like GO SMS or Handcent ... this is kind of a known issue, if you are on wifi calling it will not work ...
No I mean regular SMS not mms I get data and I can still make and receive calls It just sits on sending

Have you tried a factory reset? How bout a third party sms like gosms or handcent?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
yeah jason i just did a factory reset boo now i have to set up my phone again but that seemed to fix it thanks guys
go to settings > wireless network> mobile networks> check use packet data and check data roaming.
Glad to hear

Next time call Tmobile, and have them refresh the data profile on their end, works like a dream.

T-mobile can't receive or send mms on WiFi

Why can't I receive or send mms when WiFi is connected. I didn't have this issue on sprint. It sucks cause I have to turn off WiFi and then it has to connect to edge then eventually on 4g before i can get or send my mms quicker. I have to use WiFi a lot on this device so I don't go over my cap so I need to have WiFi on at home and work. Very frustrating.

This happens on and off on my Amaze. I just think it doesnt work that well in general with tmo
My wife can't download mms on WiFi with at&t
I have the same problem with Verizon.
MMS are the texts with data right? Yeah I noticed I can't send with just wifi.
Normal text are fine.
AT&T btw for the XDA app users.
Edit: I noticed you said at all when I reread it. I can send em fine with wifi enabled but I have to have mobile network enabled as well.
Maybe this is more common than i thought.
MultiMediaMessages needs your data access to send. WiFi will not work.
Happened on my cousin's AT&T galaxy s ii when he didn't enable data

You youre right that it does need data but I think what its supposed to do is switch to mobile network real quick and send/receive then revert back to wifi. The issue is its not doing this on my Tmobile s3.
Edit: Ran a few more test. Had my gf send me 2 mms while I was on wifi and I was able to recieve 1. But other I couldnt receive. It may have something to do with my data connection as I get 50% edge. I have a feeling that when its on edge while wifi is on that it cant DL the mms but on 4g while wifi is on it will work. I need to run a test outdoor where I get full 4g but still connect to wifi.
Same issue here, on simple mobile, I will assume is GS3 MMS bug and when you do receive MMS, it's pretty small
Just use gmail.
People really need to start using email in lieu of mms, the pictures don't get distorted, it sends/receives faster, handles much larger files
I don't know why people even use mms anymore. Everything should be done in email.

Life is about choices, you like email and others prefer MMS, we are using GS3 & others prefer what they like. Email, MMS, WhatsApp, ChatOn etc is matter of preference

Yes, you're right. Life is about choices.
Just like people can "choose" to drive 3,000 miles instead of taking a flight. Or they can "choose" to ship via snail mail instead of UPS.
Doesn't mean their choices and/or preferences aren't ineffective or moronic, or that people want to hear them whine about the "choices" they make.
Aside from that, it doesn't look like it's a "choice" on Wifi. So you can choose to send an email and be done with it, or choose to whine and stomp your feet on xda which has virtually no effect on the situation other than rounding up other whiners.
It's like people complaining about using Blu-Ray and complaining they can't stream VHS to their phone

Nope. Stock rooted. I will tell you that there are times when it won't send our receive mms or sms, but if I restart it works again. It never works 100%.

No data, no text being sent or received

I'm running the stock T-Mobile rom on my GS4. But sometimes I've noticed that when I'm in areas that don't have a data connection for example in basement but do have voice signal, text messages won't send. Not MMS, just SMS messages. Is there anyway I can take care of this? My Nexus 4 would send messages even without a data connection. Why does the GS4 not receive or send any?

SMS does not depend on data. Strange that you have voice signal but can't send sms as they go through the same cell towers.
Yeah that was what I was wondering. Why wouldn't it send SMS if there is no data connection. Can anyone else with the stock T-Mobile ROM confirm?

Well I'm not totally stock but Wicked ROM is base on stock firmware.
I just turned of WiFi and mobile data, sent an sms and it went though.
Thanks dude. I don't understand why its doing this. Are you using the stock messaging app?

Yes, the only modification is MMS over WiFi but that should have anything to do with sms (plus I turned off WiFi and mobile data).
How's the phone signal when it's happening? (I don't think sms need that strong a signal however)
I just tried it, turned off data and sent a sms and it worked. I'm not sure why it doesn't work when in specific places where I have voice signal but no data.

Been having a similar problem on stock. Full bars but no data for long stretches of time at places that I've always had data . Really odd but I'm not sure if it's rom related or not.

I was just visiting my dad's side of the family in Wisconsin a few weeks back. The town I was in I literally had very very little service, with no data at all and was still able to text perfectly fine.

Have you tried changing the apns?
Might call tmo and check if it's been blocked.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
Wouldn't be able to send/ receive calls/ SMS if it was blocked. Verify apns, if the person you bought it from wasn't previously using it with the carrier you're currently using it with, they'd be wrong.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
Go under settings, more network, mobile network, then access point and see if there is a tmobile apn listed. If so make sure it's listed. If not, then menue and reset to default. That should work.

S4 SCH-I545 Can't send text messages. Switched carriers!

I recently switched carriers. From Verizon, I went to T-Mobile. As expected, I'm already having issues. I can RECEIVE texts, but cannot send them on 4G LTE (only when I unexpectedly get "H+"). I can also access the internet. I have contacted T-Mobile, but honestly, they don't seem to care about my issue. I already manually changed the APN. The only thing I can think of is that my phone is currently on Lollipop, which is not yet supported by T-Mobile. Could this be the root of all this? Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem here. I was able to root, and installed the stang5litre Edition 5.0 ROM.
With a t-mobile sim card, everything works for me - Data, Voice, Wifi, and incoming texts, but NOT outgoing texts.
I'm baffled by this....
the creator of the ROM suggested I try to swap out the SMS apk file and reflash the ROM.
Has anyone figured this out?
