[Q] Galaxy Note 2 Unlock Question - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I just unlocked my SGH - T889 using the hidden menu option, but was not able to post there and got transferred here. My phone is unlocked, but now it has NO WIFI, whereas before the unlock it had WiFi connections? Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks

Problem Solved - New Carrier does not allow Wifi phone Calls
I just turned of the Wifi phone call option and the error disappeared.

How did you get it to unlock without any problems I've been trying to unlock it for hours

It could be your ROM that your running UK know on some ROMs the data is switched off when the screen turns off

Could be on the right track but its not just the data. Its all services. For about five minutes every time i restart my phone. I also have all the APN settings set specifically for the provider . It could just be the ROM. Or that the phone is originally meant for telus

Use other carrier on lost unlocked att phone

Hey,
I bought a phone which was reported lost to att. Fortunately, it was unlocked by att before it got lost. Now I am trying to use that phone with other carrier such as Tmobile. But the problem I am facing is as soon as I turn off the aeroplane mode i get att's signals even there is no sim card inserted. And this is letting att to track my device (maybe?). So how should i gey rid off those signal that works with sim card... And i also want to use some other carrier on it.
Thanks for the replies. I have currently rooted the phone and installed Ariel ROM.

Find T-Mobile's APN settings and replace any existing AT&T ones with them.

I went in to phone information and selected gsm only.. But still as soon as i turn off aeroplane mode there are sihnal bars even without any simcard... I don't need that signals.. Help guys!
For changing APN settings, i gotta turn off aeroplane mode and insert some simcard which i would get later to try..

By aeroplane mode do you mean Airplane mode? For APN you should just be able to go to Settings>More...> Mobile Network> Access Point Names, however might be a little different since I'm running stock and you're probably still on touchwiz.

Unlocked, Rooted, No Data connection on Red Pocket att.mnvo

Greetings,
Purchased a T-mobile samsung galaxy s 4.
I unlocked it. Tried to use Red Pocket mnvo and there is voice but no data.
So I rooted it and removed the T-mobile data usage apk and still no data.
I have spent hours trying to get data to work.
What more needs to be done to get this phone to operate on a Red Pocket or Straight Talk mnvo using AT&T towers?
I use the same settings that work in my other unlocked android phones and no luck.
What APK is responsible for preventing data to work?
Do I need to flash a new customized rom to get this to work?
Has anyone else gotton an AT&T mnvo to work on this T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4?
I am still within my return period so I need to find a solution or send this phone back.
I was orginally going to use T-mobile because they seem to promise 4g here but when I got it I find out there is only 2g speeds where I live.
My post won't help .. but this is very interesting as I am going to do the same thing.
I'll definitely watch this thread.
Is any one else out there getting Data connection with other carries after unlocking and rooting there T-Mobile Samsung galaxy s 4?
Any ideas on the cause of no data?

Try changing the network operator or the mobile network and see if your not using tmobiles instead of at&t...

You need to go to mobile settings and change the apn to the network you are trying to connect to also I think the phone has to be network unlocked
unlock isn't network unlock?

I did change the network to the one I am trying to connect to.
Also, I went to cellunlocker and got an unlock code. I thought that unlocks the network? The data has worked on all my previous samsung galaxy's after using the unlock code except for this phone.
Please HELP someone!

[Q] After SIM Unlock, Tethering and Mobile Hotspot not Working

Hi,
I bought a Samsung Note 2 from T-mobile last year with the tethering service (paid). The tethering and mobile hotspot worked fine.
Now, I am in Asia, and so I requested for a SIM unlock code from T-mobile, and it doesn't work; even T-mobile gave up and asked me to pay one of those unlock companies to unlock, and then T-mobile will reimburse.
After researching online, most unlock companies require to revert back to T-mobile factory Android 4.1.1 ROM.
Then, I did so. But rather than paying for someone to unlock for me, I followed the instruction of some online post to bring up the debug screen to run "network initialliz" (right, weird spelling).
I successfully unlocked my phone to use a local SIM card; then, I did the software upgrade through the "about device" screen to Android 4.1.2; but then I am not able to use tethering and mobile hotspot.
When I check tethering, it just unchecks itself without any error message on the screen.
When I slide to turn on mobile hotspot, it just slides back to "off".
I have done factory reset, and wiping cache from the recovery screen. Nothing works.
Then, I brought my phone to the carrier shop to check the APN settings, and it is correct because the sale guy had a Note 2 with the same setting and it worked for him.
Then, I took my SIM card to try on my sister's S3, and both tethering and mobile hotspot work.
Any idea how I can fix it without rooting?
I don't mind doing something more technical (as I worked as a software engineer for a phone manufacturer before...flashing hundreds of phones there).
If I post at the wrong place, I apologize; and please let me know where to post.
Thanks in advance.
I have similar experiences. I use an app like Hotspot Control or Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot to enable it while I am traveling.

Thanks for your confirmation.
Did you unlock your phone through the hidden debug menu? Or an unlock company? Or with the unlock code from T-mobile?
T-mobile said that the way I unlocked "might" not unlock "deep enough".

Perhaps you simply ran out of data with whatever plan you have on Tmobile.
Or perhaps you should call Tmobile and ask them why you have no data.
You need data to get internet without wifi.
What ever the problem is, it has nothing to
do with the fact that the phone is unlocked.
Set up apns? Stock they will only have att apn you'll need to manually add tmobile and select it
