[Q] Bluetooth GPS receiver [Sabsa Prime] - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there,
I got some problems with my gps receiver and Sabsa Prime. Currently I'm on v.10 but I will try to find time to update the next few days and see if the problem persists... but it's very likely as there is no note in the changelog regarding this topic.
Since I moved to Sabsa Prime (coming from CoreDroid) my gps receiver is not working anymore. Whenever I connect it via BT and try to "spoof" the signal (to make it work with the navigation etc.) with the recommended app (bluetoothGPS) there is an error like "Can't start/access service". If the exact message is needed please give me a hint as I need to recheck this then. But its nearly like I said. Oh, and I already tried another app - error is neraly the same words.
I was wondering what it causing this as I think to remember an issue with a new launcher and task managers - wasn't there any problem accessing processes, too, when using a new launcher or kernel?
Maybe anybody has an idea how to solve this problem? Is it related to the kernel? Or is it a problem of the rom itself? Any hints?

Have the same problem using bluetooth stack with GPS mouse (CM 10, Android 4.1.2, several different roms).
My workaround: Bluetooth GPS (GooGoo)
Settings:
"Use Insecure Connection" enabled
"Connection Workaround: enabled
"Channel": 1
"Other Workaround": enabled Main:
"Enable Mock GPS Provider": enabled

Thanks, that did the trick!!
I didn't even look for settings like that :cyclops:
Now I tried it with "Connection Workaround: enabled" and it worked immediately.
Thanks for your help!

[Q] Stock Rom 2.2, WiFi doesn't auto connect & "Scan" menu doesn't work

I have stock rom 2.2 (froyo) installed in my Desire. The WiFi function worked perfectly previously and I don't know since when it works not correctly. The WiFi never auto connects to known APs and I need to connect manually(disable WiFi and enable WiFi). Further more, the "Scan" menu for WiFi doesn't work at all. It seems this is the root cause of auto connection.
Anybody has same issue? Any fix for this issue?
-------------------------------------------------------
[Update] Nobody responded to this issue. I tried to remove some apps which I thought causing of this issue and the issue was fixed for a while but showed up again. I think the main issue should be the "Scan" function doesn't work at all. Anybody has some ideas regarding of why this "Scan" function doesn't work or give me some hints regarding of what processes are responsible for the "Scan" function. I can check if the corresponding process(es) exist(s) or not. Or maybe some configurations are corrupted by other apps. Not quite sure if the log can help in this case or not.

Genie Widget Network issue ?

Does anyone else have a network issue with news and weather ?
I'm running Bugless Beast JB with Trinity Kernel.
It won't refresh and says there's a network issue.
The Google says this could be a server side issue, but just wanted to see if anyone else has the same issue ?
Had the same issue since last night.
UK.
Regards.
i'm having the same issue, i think/hope it's just a temporary server problem
here is another thread about it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786370
Same issue here in France, ever since this morning...
Not just me then... wouldn't be the first time it went down for several hours. Time to find a replacement, I think.
Yeah, same here. And I deleted and reinstalled widget, looked trough different settings and so on...
My logcat says:
07-21 19:51:35.822 2657 2657 W Genie : Cache file not found: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /data/data/com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget/files/genie_iconcache (No such file or directory)
Not sure if it is related, but I deleted all app caches recently
Why is it always the good apps that quit working? Why can't the BlockBuster bloatware app quit working?

GPS keeps showing "Searching for GPS"

Navigation is stuck on "Searching for GPS". Is there a fix to this?
I know there is a fix around the forum somewhere for it. You might want to give us some more info like what kernel/rom you are running. I am RasBeanJelly and franco.Kernel lastest of each and my GPS locks on in less then 10secs. More info about what you are running will help us out.

I recommend switching to a different ROM such as Codename Android. Some ROMS have a GPS problem like you are describing. The kernel has nothing to do with it. Hope I helped.
Its coming on all ROMS D:
Still getting same error even after trying CNA. I even went to GPS settings and checked "Internal GPS antinna" or something. But still getting same error. Could the phone be faulty?
Have you tried either of these?

i have had instances where it was a KERNEL problem..not the rom...certain kernels couldnt lock on GPS..flashed a different one and it worked..flashed back to test it again and it didnt...so it was definitely the kernel causing it...so he can try flashing another kernel

sygic works so it's not a hardware problem.. other gps apps show me satellites.. but maps no!
Old gmail maps works but now I don't know how to install previous version.. can anyone help me?
Maybe it's a app problem (6.14 maps..)
thanks
Install GPS status from market and let it download agps data and point it towards the sky and see how that goes. If you see satellites and they lock, go back to maps; it should work now.
Some gnex came with faulty GPS module. I have two gnex and e first one I got had the problem and hasn't been fixed with several ROM, kernel and tools and GPS scripts.
Keep us posted

I don't think it's a hardware problem because with previous version of maps it works! so I think it's a google maps problem.. but I don't know what to do to make maps work!
This is a Google problem, it's happened once before to a ton of android users, it may have come with an alert "unable to sign into account" (that's how mine was this morning, plus searching for GPS. All seems well now.

3 bugs I have with ALL 4.2.1 roms.

Just wondering if these are problems everyone is facing, or just me, and if there is maybe a fix for some of them. They have been broke for MONTHS, and I can't figure out why I don't see more people talking about them, or why they haven't fixed them yet.
1. Bluetooth A2DP streaming is broke - Okay, this one I know is common knowledge, so we can skip this one. Supposed to be fixed officially by Google in 4.2.2. I can live with this.
2. The native WiFi hot-spot only works without encryption. All WiFi hot-spot apps from the Play Store are broken as well. Either you can't connect to the phone from your laptop/device, or the SSID isn't broadcasted at all, and you can't see it from anything.
3. When using a Google app that requires the microphone, whatever app you are using will crash. I have noticed this with Google Now, and most annoyingly the keyboard. The worst thing about this is that if you accidentally hit the mic key on the keyboard, the keyboard crashes, and it doesn't work again until you wipe the phone and re-install the Rom. Rebooting doesn't even solve it.
All three of these problems persist for me through out all the roms I have tried. This means CyanogenMod10.1, Kangdroid, PAC, Paranoid, Slimbean, etc. I know most of those are based on CM10.1, so that explains why they are all broke, but why have they been broke for so long, or is it just me?
Never seen #3 happen (I use it quit a bit). Wifi hotspot issue is known.

Yeah, that bug alone didn't happen when I first started using 10.1. Not sure when it started to be honest.

That's very possible. It's one of the first things I try when I get the latest nightlies, so I probably try it each time before I have updated anything.
Is there any reason to think that the hot-spot issue will be resolved in 4.2.2?
Ya, and I don't know, it might be coding that is needed within AOSP, does wifi tether encrypted not work on the Nexus 4 or GNEX?
Just an update for anyone who is searching and finds this thread by some chance...
It looks like 4.2.2 did not fix the HotSpot issue, but it did fix the Bluetooth streaming. I tried the SmoothRom 4.2.2 release, to test these things.
PAC-man rom 4.2.1 is my current favorite rom, and they did somehow fix both of those issues recently. Probably had something to do with 4.2.2's release this week. So if someone is looking for a 4.2 rom with working Bluetooth, and WiFi tether encryption, you might want to give that rom a try.
It is right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015525
4.2.2 has working everything. On Liquid Illusion you need to flash a custom kernel that is updated to have encrypted hotspot.

I've had #3 happen, and it can be fixed by clearing the data for the keyboard and the voice search (I don't remember if the voice search part was an app, but I remember looking for it). Just go to apps and wipe the data.

Thanks for the info, but updating to the newest Google App from the PlayStore fixed it for me.
Your solution would probably fix the need to reflash.

GPS Issues on N based roms, please help

Since I installed the first N OOS build i have issues withmy GPS,
every few seconds it lost the lock and needed a few seconds to reacquire it.
Also sometimes it does not acquire ay lock at all and need a reboot to work again.
As far as I can tell the issue happens with every android N based OxygenOS.
And also with Lineage OS 14.1
I tryed clean flashing booth and it did not change anything.
Now I flashed back to the last MM based community build and it works no lost of GPS signal, reasomably quick fix.
Does any other users also have GPS issues with N based roms on the OP3?
How can I solve the issue or at least find out whaty causing the issues?
Funny you mention this. I use my op3 for my topo maps when I hike and I have found N based roms to cause the gps to require a relocking. Also, the gps is noticeably less accurate.
Anyone got an explanation/solution?
good to herar that I'm not the only one with GPS issues.
Now the question is how to fix those?
I am also facing GPS issues since Oxygen OS 4.x.x, before that I never experienced any.
Sometimes it take 5 to 10 minutes until it finally fetches a GPS Signal but it is still very inaccurate then.
Hopefully the new OOS 4.0.3 update helps, but I doubt it since there is no mention of GPS in the release notes.
I also have this issue, the only resolution I had is to switch on WiFi scanning. After turning it on GPS has been a bit better and locks to the correct location quickly.
Sent from my OnePlus3 using XDA Labs
Ok I found out something new when I set mobile data to 2G GPS works great also on the 4.0.3 OOS ROM.
And since people complained since the start that some have issues with GPS and 4G I guess the issue really is that if some particular frequencies are used GPS suffers. Apparently something changes in N ROMs that makes the issues appear for more users.
Interestingly is that flashing Modem Firmware has no affect so the issue is in a part that is in the android kernel itself.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/help/gps-issues-t3416544
Every time I turn location on, I get the "improve location accuracy?" prompt. Every single time.
How can I stop this? Never had this before, usually goes away after one enable.
Another strange thing sometimes the GPS cant get a lock and the only way to fix it is to restart the phone.
the bew Open Beta 12 based on Android 7.1.1 seams to have resolved my GPS issue really strange
Hi - I also do have heavy problems with losses of GPS- signal at the OP3 since months. Especially while using LTE the GPS gets often lost. Since 5 weeks I am working/struggeling with the OP-support a lot - but no changes till now. @David: "Open Beta 12" has solved your problems?? what is this concrete?
i do have the problem...... from 4.0.2 updated to 4.1.1 and now Beta13, the problem still there~!!
On my phone gps signal gets lost always at the same location and when lte is active. On any other location gps works perfect. When i disable lte everything works perfect. This has happend on any rom. I think this is a hardware problem and can not be resolved. The only solution is disabling lte or using a different provider. I am using o2 in Germany, the problem does not happen with other Providers. Different Providers have different frequencies, this might be the difference between o2 and the other providers.
I do have O2-LTE too and it is "under suspicion" in Germany. But in February I was for 4 weeks in Florida and travelled a lot using navigation. The provider was AT&T - and I had very often losses of GPS-signal too.
I can confirm, that the problem happens with different ROM, but not at only one location - it happens everywhere.
But what can we do? OnePlus is working at this problem since months without a solution - and the customer with this bug really have to accept it "for zero"??
Hello @OPFan , did you get help from the support? Or could you resolve the problem?
3 months of contact - lots of bubbles - no solution
try downloading the "Gps Test "app then enable GPS and open the app and click on the 3 dots > AGPS > Clear and update

this was one of the thousands of tryings - but also with zero effect
I'm having a lot of GPS issues since I've been using OPO or OP3.
I sold my OPO because of the bad GPS. Now I have the OP3.
On both phones I used custom ROM Cyanogenmod.
I sometimes had bad GPS reception, but this was fixed under Cyanogenmod doing this: Disable GPS, Disable Data, Enable Airplane mode, Disable Airplane mode, Enable Data, Enable GPS, then wait for GPS reception and start navi app.
Last week I flashed my OP3 with another ROM (AOSP) but this only made it worse!
I use my phone as car navigation daily, and while navigating, it finds GPS and it loses GPS every 5 seconds (using WAZE app). It's incredibly annoying. Using AGPS or any other "fix" found online doesn't fix the problem.
When using another navigation app, like Google nav, it's works better (because Google also uses LTE). Clearing cache or unistalling and reinstalling the WAZE app doesn't fix the problem.
Conclusion:
It is totally not related to your provider because they are working on fixed standard frequencies and I've been using the same provider on both phones.
It's also not related to the hardware only, because it was working on my OP3 under Cyanogenmod. So it should be related to the hardware driver included in the ROM.
Maybe this gives anyone an idea?

I have also GPS issues. It works well in gmaps, but it is unusable in Waze.
I thought AOSPA was causing it so I cleanflashed latest OB, but GPS issues are present there too
