hey people,
i was just wondering... i like my cm7 rom, but i do get bored quickly of the desktop and the same old routes to things.. i always like to change around when i like.
any ideas? screenshots or links will help
thanks a bunch for any help!!!
I use launcherpro, which I paid for a long time ago. I wish touchwiz wasn't exclusive to samsung, because I really starting liking it on my vibrant before I got my G2.
I do NOT like zeam or adwlauncher that comes with CM7. I end up installing lancherpro and use titanium backup to uninstall adwlauncher.
One good thing with LauncherPro does that any other launcher doesn't is the unread gmail count on the home screen.
So, if I had my pick, I would pick TouchWiz, but since I can't use it for my G2, then I'm stuck with my second choice 'LauncherPro'

Using LauncherPro now but looking into that Launcher 7, looks interesting, highly customizable.
LauncherPro
cheers for all your replies i will thank you all !!
okay well im gonna do a nandroid backup, install launcher pro and use titanium to uninstall adw... you gotta love titanium backup!!!
then if i dont like it i can always revert back using clock work mod!
i may also try that launcher 7, but ill hang fire and read some reviews
cheers everyone!!
Touchwiz launcher has been ripped from galaxy s phones and works very good on my g2. I really didn't like it much though, so I use adw ex or gingerbread launcher2.apk from nexus s roms. Those 2 are super smooth.
Adw that comes with CM is slower than the others, but if you download adw notifier (free on market), you can get the unread popup on the icon. LP is cool, but I find ex and gingerbread launchers more.

How about the Stock Gingerbread Launcher from the Nexus Phones?
cheers guys ive thanked you all, i have gone with the launcher pro, but im gonna do a nandroid backup and try all of them
thanks!!
defiantly try the stock luncher if you are any type of purist. yea it removers theme chooser but just open the cm7 zip file and you can extract the apk files out if you want them. i really dont care. the only thing i miss from adw is the swipe anywhere on the screen options. and the hide status bar. but i think that launcher is the best so its a small price to pay. i also miss custom icons. but once again. speed and stability is more important to me.
I paid for LauncherPro a while ago, but GO Launcher is slowly starting to win me over.

For me, ADW EX is the way to go, hands down. It's worth the $3.
I personally do not like all of the things that come with EX, I have a themed version of the Gingerbread Launcher. It's themed for the guy's theme who is above me =p
When im on cm7 I use ADW with the DroidX theme. Looks great!

Adw ex FTW. also go Laucher is pretty sweet, but adw is flawless with performance

Id say ADWex.. but if your lookin for somethin completely different.. then launcher7.. its smooth, nice, and customer tiles are easy to make. its been what I've been stuck on lately..

I personally love GO Launcher. It is sort of a cross between ADW EX and Launcher Pro, with some new and different things as well. It's also extremely stable, which is something I can't say about Launcher Pro (at least that was the case last year when I used it heavily).
Try android seven pro if u are into windows... some may not like the thought of windows on a linux device but its good for something different. I bounce between adw ex launcher7 and android seven because I get bored easily

Can anyone help me with why I should use any launcher over GO Launcher? I have rooted and installed the new Calkulin V1.6 ROM.
Thanks!
Personally I feel as if Go Launcher was not specialized for Android 4.0, so I stuck with NOVA launcher. BTW you should give that a shot, I didn't like it at first, but I grew into and now its running great. I also run Calk's E4GT 2 v1.6, and it is great. It should come with NOVA launcher if you didn't apply the barebones converter.

Is there any to pull my screens from Go Launcher into Nova? Also, dumb question, how do I pull up the app drawer in Nova???

You can't transfer screens across different launchers, at least not to my knowledge, the format isn't really standardized. If you don't see the app drawer, hold onto any empty space in the launcher until a menu comes up. Select Nova Actions and the app drawer should be there. You can drag that into the dock so it stays there.
Go feels bloated and slow to me, switch back to regular or tw and its faster and smoother.
I use adw ex because go lags n freezes and doesnt have the draw animations I like
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Really? Go never lags or freezes and I have about 30 themes installed and tons of apps.

Go launcher also lags and freezes for me. I use adw ex
I don't like GO because it looks tacky and it's really bloated. All the widgets just seem to suck battery. ADW EX all the way

Actually I take that back. I'm loving Launcher 7 right now!

Trebuchet or Nova
If you want as close to pure ICS as possible, download the Trebuchet launcher. If you want a few more features, I like Nova Prime. I've tried Go! Launcher several times, and although themes are plentiful and there are some impressive transitions, I always get bored of the fluff and extra menus and choose something more minimalist. In my case, I flashed to ICS because I wanted to have a simpler bloat-free experience, and intentionally adding more seems counterproductive.
If you're rooted, I say why use any rom other than blu kuban? Best experience I've had to date.

Apex to me seems to be the best as of right now and really stable. I even bought the pro key
I use Nova Launcher because it's really smooth, polished, and has a ton of features. I used to use GO but it has sooo much bloatware. Why does a Launcher need to have its own App store, Lockscreens, messages, etc.? GO runs really smooth, but the features and different aspects just make it look unorganized in my opinion and cluttered.
I used Apex launcher (Pro) because I'm running ICS as well and not only is is built for ICS (love the widget drawer!), but damn near has the same customization features of ADW Ex and it's quite speedy and smooth (which I use when I'm on GB).

I am still on ADW EX. It's still pretty good but with no updates looks to have been abandoned.
What is everyone else using? One thing I am looking for is a home replacement with 6 custom dock slots. As I have 6 things (phone, contacts, google voice, google talk, messages, email) that I always want available to me.
Well.. there is a lot of launchers out there.
I myself try to remain stock, like on cm9 trebucht I mod the dock by to represent sense 4.
Honestly I don't really like them anymore but it still is a decent launcher and thats Go Launcher.
I believe there is a launched thread here somewhere in xda. Might have to dig a bit, most launchers designed before and after GB have pretty much stopped. Either they were in too deep or just stopped working on it.
I'd love to use honeycomb launcher but unfortunately syndicate is a horrible development team, they are slow with updates and usually never fix the bugs.

I still love go launcher ex. I just recently went back to sense because of a new touch of blue install, but still using go on my Toshiba thrive.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
For ics, nothing beats apex.
Adw for gb, adw ex just had an update in dec. Just my two cents, I can't handle sense, so slow and boring. Go seems to be a resource hog. For miui, I like ftl launcher, gives you an app button and it still themes the apps.

GO is what I use. They have lots of options and update constantly...sometimes too constantly.
My current favorite is Holo Launcher. It's pretty much of a newcomer, but it's pretty lightweight, good and fast, and gives a great ICS experience on a Gingerbread ROM. It has a scrolling dock with up to 7 items per dock page.
I use nova.. apex lags for me

Sidnese which

haha soo true. I used GO launcher back on my tablet when it was stuck on honeycomb, cuz the stock launcher was horribly slow, but I love the ICS launcher, so i was on that
I'm on Go Launcher EX. Has never lagged for FC'ed yet...no issues.
With Go Launcher can I set 6 custom dock icons?
I'm still rocking LPP. I like it. I have 5 static icons and 5 swipe actions as well using those icons. It still works fine for me.

Yes. Latest version of Go Launcher Ex allows for this customization.
On GB, I used Go Launcher w/ ICS Theme, and on ICS, I usually use what's built in - usually being Trebuchet. Apex comes with AOKP builds/milestones, and seems pretty reliable - just like Trebuchet. I don't think there's that much of difference, because ICS is just so damn sexy out of the box. xD

Seems so - pretty sure you can have scrolling docks with both Go and ADW. I think they both support folders too.
adw for now
Go launcher for a while, but just haven't put it back on yet.
I use Zeam Launcher; it's lightweight, configurable enough, and fairly no-frills (which for me is a big plus).

Right now i'm running the stock launcher for CM10 on mine (albino's build)
Gonna be a dirty boy and Double post. I just switched to Nova Launcher. On Albinoman's 4.1 rom for the Dinc it's buttery smooth in any animation setting. I tried Go-launcher, but I got overwhelmed by all the tie-ins it tried to make me do "go launcher widget, go launcher theme, go launcher icons" etc. Nova seems to strike a good balance between basic'ness and customization/animation.
Seems like it has been updated (after a VERY long time) with some pretty nice features. He has updated both versions the free and the paid ex version. I use to use ADW ex and just installed the new ADW ex and let me say this launcher is FAST and SMOOTH. I would say it's close to rivaling the TW launcher in transition smoothness. I have noticed a few little quirks but I'm sure he will iron out the little glitches in it soon
The update is terrible. I had my phone looking sexy but the update screwed it the hell up. Not happy.
I like it. Had adw launcher ex purchased when i had my first androidbphone.

I can't see many people moving (back) to this now that the dev has a history of abandoning development for a long period, who's to say it won't happen again.
I used this on my HTC Desire for over a year, and used to love it, but Nova and Apex are the future.

The features are fantastic... but...
I am running 4.1.2 CM10 on my phone and it seems to lag quite a lot on drawer opening and closing... tried to email Dev but my market force closes when I try (not adw problem) I found ADW Ex to lag and the free one to be very smooth.
Anyone else having this issue?
Edit: just tried it again and much better no idea why... but the drawer is still laggy for some reason.

ADW the return
I love this, cannot describe just how fresh and original this feels, I'm running AOKP Milestone 1 on my i9300 and it's stunning ! This actually makes it feel / seem like I'm using a different slicker OS.
I'm ditching apex as of now, have been a droid user for four years and have used most of the mainstream launchers but ADW is deliciously delightful, download it and tinker with it but don't let the memories of the old ADW dissuade you, I can't rate this highly enough.

I dont like the white popup menu, other than that its a good update.
Excellent launcher. Spend time getting to play with the features. It actually has everything the other launchers have plus more. The only thing... i agree, the white pop up is less than best. Black transparent pop up would make this complete.

I liked the free Version. Then i moved to the paid ADW ex Version. The problem on the ex Version is that when i choose it as Standard Launcher and reboot then i am asked again which Launcher i want as Standard Launcher. I was sending an email with the reply it is a JB Problem. I dont believe it because the free Version has no problem with this.
It is really sad but like that i dont like to use it. I hope the problem will be solved soon.
Ever since I got my Note 2 I've been using ADW Launcher. Ever since they released a huge update a couple of months ago it works very well and I'm very happy with it. But I did notice people using Nova Launcher as well and was wondering what the pros and cons were with Nova compared to ADW. I'm eventually going to try it out but wanted to some first hand experience from people who like using Nova.
BTW, I've tried other launchers and they were not as smooth or they have too much going on vs ADW. Nova is the only launcher that I haven't tried yet.
Just got my Note2 yesterday, I had ADW in the past on an HTC Sensation, Dell Streak, and Samsung Captivate. I really liked it, but decided to try something else, so I went with Nova Launcher. I like it.
With VERY little experience to speak of with it, the only thing I can say I prefer about Nova is the way it groups folders on the dockbar. It looks just like Vanilla Android. That's a big plus for me. I'm trying to turn my Note 2 into a Nexus Note 2.
i actually have learned to love APEX launcher...the tablet transition compliments the note 2 very well...plus its more visually smooth than nova, at least to me. i could never get in adw, as hard as a tried, even when he first dropped the app back in the old launcher pro days...
omg whens the last time you even THOUGHT about launcher pro lol!!!!!!!!
I started off with Nova on my Note 2. I would also like to know how Nova compares with ADW. It seems like ADW has more tweaks and options but I personally haven't tried it.
i rotate between Launcher8 and Nova.
I've tried ADW, Go, Apex and nova among many others...I currently use nova prime and I love it
