[Q]. Any way to have texts " forwarded" to my kindle? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since I rooted this thing I've noticed I've been spending much more time using it than my S3. What I'd like to know is if there is a way to have any SMS or MMS messages that I receive on my phone sent automatically to other android devices where I can respond to them from there. Probably a long shot but thought I'd ask. Thanks for your time.

Google voice might be a good option. I use it with my phone and nexus 7

Does that service mean I'll have to use a new number or will all texts to my original number be forwarded?

New number, but old number can also work on your phone or you can port your number to Google voice.

Considering purchase of this phone. 1 question.

Does this phone register as a "phone" on the Google play store? I've primarily used Wifi devices as my phone for about 2 years now, and have upgraded to a Nexus 7. The only problem was, most apps (the ones I want) are only compatible with phone sizes and not tablet sizes.
So I wanted to know if this phone had any compatibility issues with those phone size apps, if any.

I hear tablet talk is the best paid app. There is a free one made by mighty text I believe that people use also.

Android Device Manager Website Live

As of today the track*ing web*site has gone live. This isn’t the com*plete setup just yet, but for now you can track, ring and erase a lost device from the web

Mine connected instantly, located and rang my phone just fine. My brother has a S3 and he is also having problems, he has multiple devices showing up (which he has).
Even though I hadn't at the time, you could try activating Android Device Manager in Device Administrator by checking the tick box it and trying again. I was using Chrome (which also did the work on my brothers S3 lol)

'no active devices' error for me
If you're having trouble tracking, try signing out of your online Google account. Go back to Android Device Manager then sign in again. Works for me

Working fine for my device

That's pretty cool.
Very handy if you don't have Cerberus installed - wonder how long til they introduce Cerberus' other features (taking pictures of / filming the schmuck that stole your android etc)

XDA Premium work for anyone?

So I'm able to download and use XDA Premium HD just fine. That said, I wanted to try just XDA Premium on this tablet. Premium HD looks and works great on my Asus Infinity with a 10" display, but thought that the phone version, just Premium without HD in the name, might work/look better on this 7" display. When I try to download from Play Store, I immediately get an error message. Anyone able to download XDA Premium?

Thanks for the replies. I'm getting an Error 403 popup, just tried again right before this post. Sucks, I'd really like to try it! I'm gonna Google that error number now...

Maybe try clearing cache in play store app? Or maybe uninstall the HD app first.
I have the premium app on my tablet and phone and the tablet one gives me problems time to time. I can confirm, but I think if you use the XDA widget to access the forums it just doesn't work all the time. 90% of the time I can not reply to posts. Still testing without using the widget and i havent had this issue yet.

Are you trying to download from the tablet? If so, try to install from the browser & have it push to the tablet.
Not since the last upgrade. It crashes when I try to open a post unless its a thread I've already posted to.
XDA Premium working just fine.
Nexus 7 (2013)
I've been having issues with it since the latest update as well.

working just fine on mine.
Yea you have to uninstall it if you have a previous version installed. If you upgrade it acts weird.
The new update is sweet. Swipe to flip pages, side navigation, etc. I'm liking it.

App to link phone?

Hi guys,
I have the wifi only version of N7 and I use it a lot while at home. The only problem is that I have to keep reaching back to my phone to reply to SMS or whatsapp. Do you guys know of some app through which I can link my phone so that I can send messages through my tablet itself and not have to reach to the phone? Something like Airdroid maybe? Or Snappea? I can still use these apps through the browser but can you guys suggest some better way or app?

I use mighty text. Works great

There's DeskSMS and TabletSMS.
You need to have DeskSMS working on your phone, then TabletSMS will work. You can also install a browser extension so you can reply to SMS via computer as well. DeskSMS costs money, not sure how much exactly, as it's been awhile since I bought it.
Hangouts would be an easier "fix"

Thanks guys. Google Voice isn't available in India yet. I'll try TabletSMS.
So the sms issue is solved. Can we access WhatsApp somehow on a wifi only tab? You guys know of a way?

Tablet talk is what you need. It sends SMS and notifications to your tab. You can reply back and stuff. I haven't used it but I heard it works great.
