2A USB car charger?? - General Accessories

Hi,
After switching from 1A to 2A wall USB chargers I've never looked back.
Now i am looking for a USB car charger which can output 2A for under $10.
I found a few on ebay but they have 2 USB output with combined 2A output (1A per USB port).
I am looking for one with only 1 USB port with 2A output.
Let me know what others are using.
Thanks a lot guys

I've been looking off and on at one of these:
I guess I can't post links, but it is amazon item #/B00511PS3C
I have a 1a unit in the car that I use when I travel and a larger unit I use when I get to my room, not had a dire need for a 2a in the car as of yet.

Thanks for the link, but that's the problem. With 4G on my phone eats battery like crazy, that's why i am looking for a 2A charger to keep charging it while i am travelling.

Best car/wall charger all in one, high amp

So I want a fast charging car charger that is also a wall charger. I have read some threads on here stating the following:

Unless the charger or the cable has the data lines shorted, the phone will only charge at USB rate (~500mA). Even if you have a 1A car charger, the best you will get is USB speed UNLESS you connect the data lines on the cable.

So how do get a cable that has the data lines shorted or what charger should I buy? Can I short the lines myself, I have a nice welding setup? I can get a $5 charger at walmart that does 500mah and has a cable (not to mention convenience).
If I can get faster charging somehow I wouldn't mind paying a little extra. This 1 amp per port, 2 port charger might be worth the trouble: http://www.gazaro.com/platinum-series-dual-port-wall-and-vehicle-charger-31106001bb
Finally I found a 2 amp incase single port charger at Best Buy for $40 but if our phone wont use the 2amps I don't want to waste the money as this one would not include the cable. http://www.jr.com/incase/pe/ICE_EC20035/
edit: found just the car charger 2 amp for $22 shipped: http://www.amazon.com/Incase-2-amp-Charger-iPad-iPhone/dp/B003IWJNJG
or ebay $7 shipped small 2amp: http://cgi.ebay.com/Apple-iPad-Mini...Accessories&hash=item45fa88cb21#ht_2044wt_952
What's everyone's opinions on the matter?
It looks like I just need to short the middle two pins D+ and D- but what is the best way to do this? On the cable itself or the car charger?
Also will I benefit from the 2 amp charger over the 1 amp?
edit: did some more reading motorola car chargers seem to be wired properly out of the box: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...eless&tag=5336653508-20&qid=1280759739&sr=8-5

I might buy it just because it is so cheap. I'm in the market for a car charger and was going to buy the seidio one that claims 1000mA, but since this is so cheap and boats 950mA, I think I'll go ahead and grab it.
What does everyone else think?
I was lucky enough to snag the actual Verizon one for $15. They were running 25% off and my employer bonus kicked in for another 15%.
I got a free charger from Verizon when I bought my droid and it works fine with this phone.
So far the Motorola fast charger from Amazon has worked flawlessly!

car charger for KF?

I am looking for reliable car charger for KF. Any suggestions?
It needs to output 1.8v 1.8amps .. which is more than most car adapters will support.

So, no car charging? Even slow? I mean, you can charge with 1A, slow but can do a job?

I think you are wrong about the 1.8v, my charger says 5v @ 1.8 amps, which means you could use any usb charger rated at over 1.8 amps.

Meant to say 1.8amps not volts. Most car adapters are 1amp or less. Many car lighters (the socket) max out at 1amp. Utility plugs may go higher, but the charger plug you use itself needs to support it.
You are right about the 1amp though, anything over 1amp will cost quite a bit more than the few dollars a 1amp adapter costs . In that case it would be worth looking into seeing if the manufacturer of the Kindle Fire sells a car charger, but I would only use that for trips, there is no way I would leave my KF charging in an unattended automobile.
Your best bet would be to find a car charger with a USB port on it that can support an iPad 2. If it can charge an iPad, it can charge the Kindle. Tons of good options on Amazon.
Charge
Wouldnt any cigarette lighter plug with a USB connection work?

I bought the "GTMax Black 2-Port USB Car Charger Adapter 2A" from Amazon, it has two usb slots, one with 1A and the other 2.1A. Works great on my Bionic, have yet to try it w/ the kindle though.
I'm using a 2AMP charger as wel and it charges just fine. Most chargers designed for the IPAD will work well. Just make sure it has a regular USB port on it and not the apple connector
Any USB charger with a micro connector will charge it provided the KF is using less power at the time than the charger is able to provide. It doesn't have to be rated for 1.8 amps. I've used everything from a 0.5 amp Motorola RAZR charger to a 2.0 amp charger and they've all done the job. The only difference was the time required. I can't see why it being a car charger would make any difference either. My T-Mobile 1 amp car charger worked just fine with it.
Most USB chargers will work
Hi,
As others have said, most USB chargers will work. However, there is one exception that I ran into recently and its well documented on the forums here - if your battery gets too flat. e.g. you left it at home when you went away, it will need at least 5V @ 1.6A to actually recharge.

I wonder if you'd want the USB Wall Charger 2.1A - Black. I can't tell from the description if the one you linked is only going to deliver .5A to the phone.
This Wall Charger has two USB A female ports, one on each side, and provides a total of 1A of charging power.
Click to collapse
So if you only plug a cable into one side is it going to send the full 1A through that cable or is it only going to send .5A which would be a slower charge. The SG3 is listed in the description for the 2.1A charger.
Monoprice cables are great. I use them with my chargers. I don't have the premium ones though. I bought this one: 6ft USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/28AWG Cable
I'd love to hear what other users have to say.
I bought the premium cable from monoprice, and it works great.

[Q] What should i look for when getting a car charger?Does USB cable make difference?

I saw this Belkin charger and says 5V and 1A charging capacity. I read that S3 maximum charging is 1A , so will this charger work ? or does 5V is not enough ? or go for 2A ?
Also does USB cable matter in charging ?
the usb cable makes all the difference.. ive used cheap ebay cables and they dont charge quite as good as oem or the mediabridge hi-speed i have.

I have just bought a couple of these cables:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FAAHT0E/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and one of these chargers:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D82O68Y/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
as my Belkin 1A wasn't really as adequate as it could have been.
The cables may be a bit over-kill (and a tad pricey, but I took up the 30 day free Amazon Prime trial so got free next day delivery), but as a combo they work admirably and can cope with charging my S3 and my Nexus 7 (which needs 2A) simultaneously.
Can you guys suggest a brand which is available all over world.. both listed items are not available in india. And Cant spend so much too
USB is digital (except for power). Anything a bit pricier than the cheapest cable will do.
Get a cable like this, with a charger that provides 2.1a out of a single port. If you're on a custom kernel that allows you to change incoming amperage, you don't need the dedicated cable.

Where do people get the idea that a USB cable is gonna make a difference for charging your phone??
I've used ebay, dollar store type cables my whole life and have never had a problem other than cheap build quality where the cable doesn't last very long. It still passed the same power or signal as any well known and overpriced branded cable.
I assume these people are the same suckers who buy $100 Monster HDMI cables that work the same as $10 ebay or monoprice stuff.
Be careful with those "mini" car chargers. The cheap price is daunting, but I bought a package that came with 2 with retractable USB cords for only 5 US dollars.
The adapter would not stay firmly in the car and pull out whenever I tried to extend the cord to plug in my phone, and my phone's battery decreased while plugged in...
While this could've been a car issue, I'd just use caution. Instead I purchased a regular sized one with a retractable USB built in for only 8 dollars, I'll link you if you're interested. Good luck!

Also don't forget that the actual charger might suck

From what I have seen and read, the most a Qi charger will output is 1amp
That link I posted is for those who have low amperage and having issues with Qi charger.
I was looking for a qi car holder, tho recent feedback on different models suggests 1a qi is not enough to actually charge the G3 while using satellite navigation software, due to the drain from the gps/screen/CPU. I found that using an old 0.8amp USB charger in the car lost a similar 5-ish% an hour when used for sat nav as when using an in car qi.
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
As hot as the phone gets on a 1A Qi charger I think you'd just be asking for a fire at 2A. I haven't found one either though.
I have this one and it's working perfectly.

we are talking about the Qi charger aka wireless!
I've been doing some extensive digging for a 2a Qi system myself. The highest available system is unfortunately 1a. BUT... In order to get the 1a, not only does the charger (transmitter) need to be rated for at least 1.5 - 2.0a output because of poor efficiency, but your receiver in your phone needs to be rated at a 1a output. This is why you see several people who are only charging at 600-700ma. For my Note 3, I have found a 600ma, 700ma, & finally a 1a receiver coil. The Samsung charging backplate is actually only rated at 600ma. Just make sure you look before you buy. I bought an Itian A6 charger combo and it only has a 600 also, but the transmitter I believe 1.5a. I'll just have to pick up another coil once my charger arrives. Damn China Post takes forever.
Anyway, hope this helps answer your questions. Wireless Consortium approved a medium voltage guideline and I just read that they have come out with a Qi system that is 97% efficient. Our power demands just need technology to catch up.
---------- Post added at 05:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:57 PM ----------
The heat is due to the inefficiencies, most Qi chargers lose 25% of the transmitted energy, which ends up being the source of heat. The newer 97% efficient chips will be much cooler. Also a good receiver coil is thermally protected and will shut down the charge at a threshold temp. The quality of the receiver coil is the most important part of Qi. But don't forget, charging any battery rapidly will cause heat as well. There was a news story about 2 months ago of a kid who slept with her phone under her pillow and caught fire from improper ventilation. If your phone is heating up that hot, you may want to remove any case it's in. Charging up with Qi and a metal backplate isn't exactly the smartest thing to do either.

well I'm also on a similar hunt..
the closest option i found was the google qi enabled pad for 50$ rated at 1.8A out
and not too sure about this because the website doesnt say much but the samsung one is 2A
Oops didn't see Qi Charger :X
According your description I don't think it exists. I believe the charging power not only depends on the charger, but also on the Qi receiver in your phone. If the receiver doesn't take more than 1A, then the charging speed would not have any difference regardless of you're using a 1A or 2A wireless charger.
Does anybody know what the stock LG receiver is rated at

My qi charger is a generic cheap one, its rated at 2 amp in and 1 amp out. I presume it only delivers 700mah cause of how inefficient wireless charging is, I was under the impression 1 amp was that max qi standards could handle at the moment?
Basically, if you want a reliable and fast charge then you can't beat a wired connection. I don't understand really what difference it makes from plugging in a cable on the bottom to placing it on a Qi charging mat/pod. From what I have read, wireless charging is not really good for ur battery and should not be a substitute for a wired charger.
If you get a good 2A charger it will charge the phone in about 100 minutes if you are not using it.
Did someone try Samsung S6 Qi Wireless Pad with LG G3?
I'm considering to buy it but saw on Samsungs website that charger is 2A and it is not recommended to use it with lower amp adapters because it may damage it....
The G3's 1.8A...
Will that adapter give any harm to Qi Pad?
Thanks for any reply
that"s why i find wireless chargers gimmick
why should i put a 2a charger in the QI charger too fùking output 1A why...
i have a wirless charger and its anoying cause u need to put the phone on in the right way. and it charger so slow i mean if you put your phone on the wirless charger pad why not take the usb cable and put it in... to get 2a fast charging. (and use a reversible micro usb cable)
