Hey, guys!
Been reading the forums for a while, but I tend to get more confused the more I read...
Just wondering; What is the newest and best reccomended ROM for my samsung galaxy nexus?
I now have clockworkmod, unlocked with 4.1.1.
And a couple of random q's; Is there a specific page where updates are released? Do i need to do a factory reset every time?
so many questions.... bare with me, please (A)
thanks

1) ROM is a user taste. Try all and pick one.
2) If you got a ROM from here, then come back and check for updates.
3) From ROM to ROM yes you have to factory reset.
And 4) This thread is at wrong place... Should go to Q&A.

Hi guys, new member here.
Sorry for these questions but I am VERY new to Android. I have the Samsung Galaxy 2 with stock Android version, uprooted and locked to my phone company. I would like to update it but I have some concerns I would like to clear first.
1- Can I safely backup everything in case my phone company doesn't recognize my phone after the update?
2- Can I install ICS? My phone company doesn't have the update... Is there a "generic" ROM that I can use?
3- How easy would be to brick it?
If you guys have some links to some guides for the first 2 questions, that would be awesome.
Thanks a lot!

Telling you the answers is too easy! You've got to take the time and read up on your specific device. The short answer you will get is yes you can backup your device the firmware is out there if you mess up. Just trust me when I say if you do diligence in your reading you will have the new OS in no time flat. Start with the forums that are relevant to your phone.

By the sound of things, it seems like you should not do any of that now. You should read up more before you even attempt any of those things.
N.B. - It is extremely easy to brick your device, especially when you do not know what you are doing.

1- There are ways to unlock your phone and I am sure you can find a the right guide to help you.
2- try reading this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
3- my advice is NOT just read one thread... read couple and learn the exact ways of doing something before you actually do it because as long as you use the right information, you should be fine.
Hello All,
I just purchased the T-Mobile edition on the Galaxy S III and I ignorantly updated from ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.1.1.
I want to root my phone. Am I screwed? Please help me I don't want to screw up my phone.
Thanks for any help.
Why would that be ignorant ?
Yes, you can root JB. Even if you couldn't, you could always flash back to ICS if it was that important to you.
Check out the other forums here and ctrl+f "root" - there are guides that will completely walk you through it. I used the root66 root-injected stock ROM to root my phone, it was the first time I'd ever done such a thing and the guide is well-written and goes baby-step by baby-step.

Any recommendations on the best ROM?
Have people become so lazy that they can't search?
Don't be a jerk. I have tried a few I was just asking what he thought was best that's all.
Comon bro, you made time to criticize but not to help.

Hi all
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 (GT-I8160) PDA:LD8 PHONE:LD8 CSC:LD3 (XEO).
I rooted it some weeks ago with this method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006183
Kies ask me to update my phone for this version : PDA:LK6 / PHONE:LK6 / CSC:LK1 (XEO)
If I update my phone, should I root again my phone ? With the same method, or an other because of the different version (was LDA8, will be a LK6) ?
Thanks for your help.
Sorry for my bad english
Unroot it first... Then root..

Alright, first of all.. please learn to search the forums. This is to avoid spam and repetition of questions. There's a Q and A thread for Ace 2, which is found here.
You might ask, "why will I post there?" Most users are subscribed to that thread, waiting to see if someone posted a new question thus, increasing the chance that your question will be seen since most users are accessing the forums from their smartphones, they tend to overlook the other parts of the forums.
If you have time, PC with Odin, and common sense then try this method. Flashing a pre-rooted stock rom (Note: This method will not increase your counter). As for the LK6 firmware, see this
For the latest firmwares (pre-rooted), see the thread here
Hey guys. Coming from Win-mo where everything is just straight forward so this stuff is pretty new. I am trying to find a Kitkat rom for my T-mo S2. I can't seem to find any threads specifically talking about branded phones.
Can anyone help me out here? Info
The phone isn't rooted and on stock jellybean 4.1.2.
If you can direct me to some step by step threads or even better actually telling me what to do step by step it'd be appreciated. Thank you.
I presume you have a SGH T-989 ? If so, you're in the wrong place, your thread belongs here. I've asked mods to move your thread, sit tight until they do.
Yeah I realized that after I posted, I just couldn't figure out what the differences were. Thank you for the help.

Cyanogenmod 11 runs Kit Kat. You can download it from the official page. As for the actual flashing, you need to have root and the latest Clockworkmod installed, as I have read about some issues if you try to flash it with other custom recoveries or older versions of it.
You don't need to root. Just flash the recovery and flash the rom. The rom itself is rooted. If you want to root your stock rom flash the su zip in recovery

Go to CM's website and use the built in installer.
Also you need to report your post so it can be moved to the sprint s3 area so you can get users familiar with your device to help you. This area is for the international i9300 and anything you flash or instructions you follow from here will brick your phone as you need to perform more steps first before you can get underway.
