I think that was a typo, he meant 50 posts. Junior members are from 1-49 posts I believe as well, then members are from 50-99, then senior member after that.
Edit: I confirmed that it is actually junior member from 1-29 posts, then member from 30-99, then senior member after that.
Post count
Junior members are 0-9
Member 10 -99
Senior member - 100 +
the snr member one should be higher, I don't consider myself as a snr member
Should be more ranks.. like Veteran and OlĀ“Timer. Also, It shouldn't be based on post count entirely but also on how long you have been a member.

No because I reckon that's unfair. Somebody may have been member for like three years but barely done anything whereas somebody who is has been a member for smaller amount of time can have a higher post rate but I do agree with the more ranks idea

Ranks should be based on helpfulness and amount of time here both. 3 ranks. Leecher---u just creep around never helping and downloading everyone's work without ever giving helpful feedback or learning anything. Member---u contribute when u can and have tried to help other members in a respectful manner, as well as being a member of xda for at least 6 months. And finally, Jedi---u have donated, helped members at every turn, have been a member for at least 1 year, have a post count of 1000 +, and at least 10 people must be able to give positive feedback about you here.

Positive feedback is only for buying/selling devices through the market and not everyone does that. Edit: I knew I had seen this earlier.

There are Junior Members, Members, Senior Members first. These make up the vast majority of XDAs userbase.
Recognised Contributors are nominated by other users and/or Mods/Developers. They are recognised for their contributions which are not specifically Development, such as detailed guides, one-click utilities and other tools/mods.
Recognised Themers are also nominated by users/Mods/Developers, for their work themeing custom ROMs and providing standalone themes for flashing.
Recognised Developers are nominated and approved by the Developer Committee, for their work in Development whether it be ROMs, Root methods, bootloader unlocks etc.
Elite Recognised Developers are again assessed by the Developer Committee, and are deemed to have gone above-and-beyond in providing knowledge/hacks/tools/apps/ROMs for the XDA community.
Forum Moderators are appointed by the Moderator Committee, after submitting an application (see the 'sticky' at the top of this forum - currently applications are not open). They are the first-line of keeping the forums tidy, friendly and orderly.
Senior Moderators are the next step up the ladder, providing site-wide support for Forum Mods and looking after the nitty-gritty issues, as well as areas of XDA not policed by FSMs, such as the Marketplace.
Administrators are next. There are several Admins - each look after a specific part of XDA such as the Portal, the Members and the User Experience of XDA as a whole.
At the top is Mike Channon, who is overall Forum Administrator.
Other titles you may come across:
Moderator Committee - sits on the Mod Committee
Developer Committee - as above, but for Developer Committee
XDA Newswriter - publishes articles for the Portal (front page)
Retired xxxx - have since officially 'left' their XDA position
Hopefully that clears most of them up for you

I personally they should have a rank called "XDA's Aid" and it should be you need to have over 500+ posts, have 750+ thanks and has a good reputation spelling and someone what helps XDAs users out.
As soon as I am a senior member I am going to try and become a moderator.

I disagree with this category. "Just creeping around" i.e. reading a lot, learning a lot and sure, downloading, is exactly what we want newbies to do rather than immediately posting questions that have been asked before. If it's possible to categorise to that extent based on forum browsing behaviour, then I suggest this group be called Noble Learners.
Lol if you're going for posts, you could add in where you actually post. Normal XDA members can't access what amounts to probably 80% of my posts because they're in the special boards where you can't read them.

Yes, to get any other rank you have to apply or be granted it e.g recognised developer/themer/contributor etc etc
Moved to About XDA section.
Here are the user titles explained by one of our mods.
0 to 29 posts - Junior Member
30 to 99 posts - Member
100 + posts - Senior Member

Hey! thanks a lot for that!
So the ranks are just based on how many posts you have made? And are there any benefits to these ranks? Or are they just kinda there?

I appreciate your optimism and generally good attitude. However, juniors who don't read the rules and have a general disregard for the organization and structure of this community are a detriment. They create extra work for moderators who volunteer their time and make finding information substantially more difficult for users of the site.
If memory serves me well, one of the rules is not to ask for development or etas, though it's been a while since I've peeked at them. Another is certainly posting in the correct forum - which this is not.
I'm going to be blunt, I don't think junior members should be allowed to post in the development sections. Moderators should have the ability to upgrade to a regular member at any time if they see a junior acting accordingly. Likewise, if you post in wrong sections and then abandon the section without reporting your post to a moderator to be closed along with an apology, you should be demoted to a junior for some time. This would prevent a cluttered mess to have to sift through.
It's bad enough we have a severe lack of development due to exclusivity and bootloader issues without the added stress of clutter. I'm not hating on the Op but it sure is disrespectful and I'm sure most will agree with me that it isn't appreciated or beneficial by anyone.

2nd.... noobs, juniors, seniors or moderators we are all on a learning curve and should respect all with patience. Everyone has asked a dumb question, a question that might have already been answered etc. I have and I can only assume all the moderators and or senior members have done the same. gentle reminder rather than coming down on members should be at hand. chill...... this should be an enjoyable situation for all....

this forum is a disaster and not because of misplaced posts, in fact, just the opposite. we have 12 ****ing mods for this forum, 12.
that's prolly more than peeps posting in here. and they are the ones that **** up the forum moving threads around almost willy nilly.
i ask what peeps are using their qbutton for in the gen forum, that thread got moved to help. umm wtf.
get rid of 11 of the 12 mods and teach the one remaining about which threads go where.

Also, many topics are directed to the big "discuss" thread. (the one that was started before this forum even existed, with a ton of useless junk) Why make people go through that? It's convenient to only read threads of interest...
And why mess with threads that have been dead for days?

No, they are directed to be posted in general or Q&A. That's not difficult at all. This post has no place in the development section, period. It's not hard to read the rules and post in proper sections.
This isn't a debate, this is in the wrong section. Development goes in development. Questions in Q&A. Accessories in accessories. Everything else falls in general.

Didn't see those until you mentioned it. That seems ridiculous to me too. In fact I've never seen something like that done in other phone forums. I can imagine it being done for duplicate threads but forcing us to use s single thread seems ridiculous.

First OP Thread Closed & Moved out of the Development Section I will ask you to read the Forum Rules on Posting.
The Moderation Team is made of volunteers and they are Members just like you, if you see threads and or posts out of place...report them, vice posting in this manner.
The Moderation Team can not be in all threads,...again if you find threads that need addressing report it, we rely on Members to point out issues/violations.
Thank You.
