Hello to all here. I've been a creeper around these forums for quite some time using the great information to flash and root various devices over the years. I'm usually good at finding the info I need through search and following comments but alas I've hit a wall.
I recently just flashed to root successfully, then accidentally flashed a kernal using the "phone" option in odin . So I lost my radio and eventually found the modem.bin which gave me service once again. Now the issue is calls only come in when the phone is on. I can call out to anyone no problem, but using my wife's phone my phone will not wake from screen off to alert me of the call. Has anyone come across this or remedy? I appreciate any and all suggestions.
Try calling sprint

yup assuming you've done the standard prl/profile updates and msl reset a new one from sprint may be the way to go.
Yeah I was hoping not to, this is a great phone. ::Note to self:: read everything before rooting and click the right option in ODIN!
Hello. I finally decided to root my galaxy s3 a few days ago. After I did so I downloaded some themes, ad block, etc. the normal stuff. The next day I started noticing something odd with the phone, such as very poor data connection (I can restart the phone and it will say I am on 4g for a minute or two although the connection doesn't say the same, but then it will either go to EDGE or give me no connection at all.) and poor network (says I have good bars but texts don't send often and take 10 minutes to receive; phone calls drop.}
I took the device to the AT&T store and got a new SIM card and that did nothing. 45 minutes of "support" did even less for me. I unrooted it, factory restored it, nothing.
I am desperate, if anyone would give me a workaround / fix, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Not sure. Did you check your APN settings? Did you flash any ROMS, modems or kernels at all?

Thank you, now for the QCN..........I will be very happy when this is fixed lol.
So whenever I try to create a QCN I am unable to find it in the location I placed it, and I have hidden files visible. When I try to slide it to a different folder it says the file doesn't exist anymore. My phone has moved to "Unspecified" in devices and printers and I am unable to access any of its files even after trying to reinstall drivers multiple times (it gets stuck on the 5th one...network something...). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve the problem with not being able to access my phone?
Ok I figured out how to access my phone and I think installing a new modem fixed it.....we will wait a couple hours and see.
Hello everyone,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S III from T-mobile, running CM 10. Since last week I've been having trouble with it after I updated the CM 10 rom. For some weird reason I cannot receive calls while I am using my data connection, incoming calls are always sent to voicemail. I tried the ##DATA# code to try to turn off the DDTM mode but later on I read that I cannot access this menu unless I am on stock ROM, I tried to flash T-mobile's stock ROM with Odin but the process kept getting stuck with no progress at all.
I kept looking and I came to the idea that my problem was my IMEI, which when I checked, was 0. I restored my IMEI and now I have my IMEI number and everything but I my internet connection is still stuck on EDGE and I cannot receive any calls. I even tried updating my modem I tried several different T-mobile modems for my phone and none of them can take my phone off EDGE.
then I tried changing the network type with the *#*#4636#*#* the actual network type option that it has selected is WCDMA preferred, I went ahead and selected LTE/GSM/CDMA but that option doesn't stay!!! I am going nuts here!!! I want my 4G connection back, I have tried everything with no luck at all.
I just hope that somebody out there has gone through this and found a solution cause I am losing all my hope and I don't want to take my phone to T-mobile since I cant flash it back to stock rom.
If anyone here could please help out I will be extremely thankful.
Thanks in advance.

It's more to it than simply injecting your IMEI. You have to inject it, back it up, and then restore it.
Well i had to enter my IMEI manually to generate a .txt to write it to my phone because the one i had before was corrupted cause it was 0.
Was thete any other step that I skiped doing?
I figure i wouldnt make a back up before injecting my IMEI manually cause i didnt have one.
Am I screwed??

Yes, you skipped two complete steps. There's three steps, again, Injection, Backup, and then Restore. Go back to Peoplearmy's thread and follow it completely.

I've shown him an easy way to find answers to future questions he may have. Now stop telling me what to do.
But on a serious note, the search function on XDA works extremely well. If I ever need to find something, I type it in that box and 95.7342% of the time, it pops right up in front of me.
Search is a beautiful thing.

I have actually searched quite a lot since I've been having this problem from a few weeks now. Only thing is that whenever i find a possible solution i doesnt fix it since it seems it is something else. I am trying now to do peoplearmy's post to see if this one does the trick. The first time i put manually my IMEI i did it following a different thread so I hope this one fixes the problem.

Poeplearmy's post is the industry standard for IMEI recovery. Just remember that there are more steps than just the first post. I'm sure you'll get it worked out.

I did this method, I cant actually check if my 4g is working since unfortunately at home I always get EDGE so I will check later when I go out.
I have a question, I did check on the dialer my IMEI but I saw a picture of somebody on peoplearmy's thread and their IMEI included a /0# at the end and I realized that mine doesn't.
Does the IMEI need to have that /#0 at the end in order to work or is it ok? I just want to make sure since I can only check my connection speed when I go out.
thank you

As far as I know, your IMEI should just be a simple number. If the IMEI you're seeing on the software matches your IMEI on the back of your phone, then you're good in that department. If you also followed the steps for the backup and restore. Then you're good. The backup is important, because it allows for the restore. The restore has some (stuff) that adds all of the settings back to allow you to connect to 4G. Does that make sense? It's a three-step process when you lose your IMEI for the first time.
Inject, backup, restore. It has to be done, because the restore really does add something back to make it work properly.
Should you lose it again in the future, you can simply just restore and be right back.

I think he's implying that that's how it's always been, or possibly that he has done all of this within the last few days. However long it's been, to me it doesn't sound like a recent issue that has cropped up.
Just my obversvation though. Unfortunately that's all the help I can offer heh

I don't use a MVNO, so I am not sure which regular troubleshooting steps would clear away your carrier settings. (I'm thinking using EFS Clear in Odin is the only concern, but that is sometimes needed for modem issues.)
Based off that rom's thread, you must be using the NS4G modem. Since your issue is with connectivity:
Perform a CWM backup of your current setup.
Flash an Epic modem rom and FC09 modem. (You can flash the modem using CWM. There's a thread in the dev forum w/ links.)
Try testing connection again.
I'd normally tell a Sprint Epic user to boot into FC09 multiboot and update profile & PRL, but I don't even think the PRL update would work for you. I'd then say, start from scratch by using Odin to flash FC09 with repartition checked. If they still had issues with connectivity, then I'd recommend using EFS clear in Odin when reflashing either just the FC09 modem or the entire FC09 tar.
Because you are on another carrier, I'm weary of suggesting you use Odin so quickly. If you haven't already, dive into your phone settings and document your carrier specific info you changed to get it working. This way, if you end up doing something that resets your original changes, then you can reconfigure it.
So give the suggestion that is listed above a try.
Since I'm very much a noob myself, I'm only tossing this out to possibly trigger an idea for someone else: Would perhaps the issue lie in the Build.prop or one of those similar files? I've poked around so many of them I can't remember which hold what tidbits of info... I know the Build.prop holds most of the primary carrier info, but I seem to recall another one that stored a bunch of info for a bunch of the other carriers (though that might have been for roaming and may not be of any help here).
*shrug* Otherwise, I's gots nothin' lol
Ok so first off, been using XDA for a while now to root various things, you guys have always got me what I need to get things figured out on my own, I have never before this day had to request help and for that, you guys are legendary.
Now I am semi newbi here, I know whats what for the most part but I have a hard time holding information in my short term memory so I am sorry if I miss little things
On to the problem!
So I got an AT&T LG Nitro HD P930, on ebay, I then spent the better part of a day rooting it, took me a lot of work but I eventually got it rooted and all that jazz, everything was going great... but everything changed when the fire nation... wait no... when I put CM9 on it, that crashed quite often, so I put on CM11 to check that out, no Data, so I rolled back one to CM10.2, and still no Data.
Could I have missed something?
Edit:
I thought at one point the ImeI might have gotten pushed out, but I double checked that and it is there, I have noticed at times I look at the service and it says I have 4 bars and an E next to it like back in the 2G days, but rarely and I have not had it stay long enough to test the data but if I get the chance I will edit and leave what happened here.
Also to note, I do still get random crashes but I can live with that.
P.S.S. XDA Devs are the shiznit, thank you guys for many years of amazing rom's and HP Touchpad support, my tablet is nothing without you guys!
Potential fix
Ok so admitadly I may have jumped the gun on not finding anything via the search function, I did find something digging around that might help me out. just incase anyone else checks this thread due to the same issue I will post back here if it worked, I found the fix on this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2521525
Posted by Kaos420 about half way down.
Now to test it!
Issues "Unbricking"
So my second go around seems to be having trouble taking off, I cant seem to get the V10F to flash to my device following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597488 exactly as it is. always just reboots into my old OS. Any advice?
Edit: Noticed I forgot to rename V10F correctly and tried again, seems to be running smoother, feel like a total noob...

I had read something about that and had a backup of my APN but it turns out you cant flash APN data after 4.0+ or some such nonsense.
In the end I managed to get the root to take hold after restoring it from unbrick up, now I have CM9 on it and it is working just shiny. so this thread can be deleted or closed or whatnot.
If anyone would like a step by step on what I did I would be glad to post it but I doubt anyone is interested.
Good thing you got it working. And CM9 was so nice and stable for the Nitro. I often think of reverting back to it just for its reliability.

Its been a while since I did it but I will see if I cant gather all the resources I used, but in the end what I had to do was re-brick it, reverted back to stock everything to recover and re-rooted it all again, then I just skipped CM11 and went back to CM10. Now I am in a whole new **** storm haha but thats a story for another time.
