Hey guys! Please tell me if there is any GB ROM which supports A2SD Scripts! Thnx
I'm on MIUI V3 now and using link2sd with no issues at all.
I find link2sd a bit complicated! A2SD is easier and reliable for me! =D
which script you are willing to use then ?
you know the one in RemPuzzle! where we make the ext4 partition via CWM and then in terminal emulator write down some scripts! Like "a2sd cachesd" and "a2sd zipalign"!
I dont know what it is called! =P

Oh, opening Link2sd and pressing Menu button, choosing settings, then checking "move automatically to sd" is really complicated?

I have been installing different roms.. My initial ext partition was Ext 3... But many roms during flash change partition type to ext 4 automatically...
Trying now the Insetcoin stock GB... Requires ext 3.. But how can I know of my partition type is not changed and is still ext3?
Any application in market place or any windows 7 application?
Thanks in advance...
Recovery from my signature detects partitions, it can also convert ext2/3/4 without data loss.
Give it a shot.

And again the advice from you to another person to change the recovery although there is absolutely no need to do it and the thread opener never asked for it. Please k3lcior do not post this advice in this cases!!!
@jjdoctor:
I do not know an android app which can found out your ext partition type. For windows 7 there is only a tool named partition wizard, but I never used it. But I know that gparted can do what you want:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/download.php
Download the iso, burn it on cd, start your computer from it and then conncet your phone to your computer.

It's easier, faster and way more comfortable than booting into linux just to see if the partition is ext3 or 4.
Preview
Have a nice day.
Code:
adb shell
mount | grep sd-ext
on a PC, or just the second line in a terminal app on the phone.
yeah, and if that doesn't work for you, you can always try a partition wizard, I used MiniTool and it worked fine for me, plus the graphical user interface make it a lot easier to understand for novice users.
Thanks guys...every method was helpful except Terminal emulator one...
Cheers...
I don't see what's wrong with using terminal commands, is it really that scary?

Works fine for me. Of course provided the current rom actually uses the ext partition.

I can't install app. When I click .apk installer, it said "Application not installed" and "Package file error" no matter how many time I reflash Aurora V4.1 ROM
I can install app only the first time after finish flashing rom,
but after I reboot my mobile... not anymore... always come up with "Application not installed" and "Package file error" every time I try to install every .apk installer file
and also installing from the market is not working either. (I have already ticked the check box in the setting to give permission to install unknown app)
**There is no problem about installing .apk app in other roms.
I use STOCK Hboot, 1 GB ext4 (Micro SD Card: Apacer 16 GB Class 10)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1268279
Would anyone please help me, give me some advices?
This is the fastest Sense 3.0 Rom, so I don't wanna change to other roms.
oh
and one thing...
it would be great for me if this rom's htc keyboard has type Chinese Handwriting function
(sadly it hasn't) Can anyone help me about this, too? about how to add in this function. In keyboard setting, there are only "pinyin", but without Chinese handwriting

But from the requirement of Aurora Rom...
REQUIREMENTS:
CM7r2-CM7-STOCK-DATA++
EXT4 Partition(for A2SD)
Latest Radio(recommended)
However, I'll try ext3 instead tonight. I'll post the feedback after that.
Thanks
I have the same problem in this ROM...
EDIT
I wiped dalvik cache. It looks like it is working now.

Do you mean "wipe dalvik cache" again after flashing rom?
Is it really working?
I am running energy 1/12/12 rom and have partitioned sdcard and using dt a2sd. I am trying to learn as much as i can. what exactly does "zipalign on boot" do? it is turned off for me.. should this be turned on and why? what about dalvik cache? is it best to leave this on internal or move to sd card? if i open the a2sdgui i can hit the zipaligne on boot button... if this is something I shold do, is there anything else that needs to be done to complete the action or is that it?
TBH, I'm not sure what zipalign does, specifically, but I have mine on, and I also have my Dalvik on my sdcard, but I use terminal to do that.
Commands are:
su
a2sd cachesd

Zipalign: An archive alignment tool introduced first time with 1.6 Android SDK (software development kit). It optimizes the way an Android application package (APK) is packaged. Doing so enables the Android operating system to interact with the application more efficiently, and hence has the potential to make the application and overall the whole system much faster. Execution time is minimized for zipaligned applications, resulting is lesser amount of RAM consumption when running the APK.
From my thread...... Android Terms,Slang & Definitions(Read Before Asking Questions)
so sounds like its a good idea to select zipalign on boot in a2sdgui huh?

Most custom ROMs have a script included that does it already, which typically is more efficient than the dt method. That's why it's usually disabled by default. Enabling would probably just delay your startup time and not add any value (unless you know for a fact your ROM isn't already doing it).
what does this mean ive done a search but carnt findout what this means
Hboot : Stock for now
Use Android Terminal to enable A2SD
as this is what it says i've got to do in install the jelly bean rom.

One more thing.... Android terminal has NOTHING to do with INSTALLING the jelly bean Rom ....
As I said, please read tutorials and guides before attempting anything.

thanks again for your help
When it says "Use android terminal to enable A2SD", what it means is after you have installed the rom (which you would do by flashing the zip file through a recovery mod like clockwork recovery or 4ext recovery) you enter the android terminal in your apps tray (it will be installed already as 'Terminal Emulator' or such) and type
Code:
su
You will get a super user request asking you to allow the terminal emulator root access. Allow this.
Code:
a2sd install
You wil be prompted for install options. The recommended values were.
Code:
y
n
y
at which point your phone will reboot and you will have activated the A2SD features of the rom.
But in order to do this, you will first need to repartition your SD card into two partitions.
Back up all of your data before you even attempt this so you don't lose anything.
This can be done with a number of tools like GParted or MiniTool Partition Wizard.
The first should be a FAT primary logical partition the size you want to store your documents on and the second should be a primary logical ext3 file system (not all roms support EXT4 and journalling can degrade SD card quality faster).
I have mine as an 8GB partitioned into a 6.5GB FAT and a 1.5GB EXT with about 1.3GB of apps installed split across A2SD and androids internal apps to SD function while still keeping 80MB free on my data partition.
I hope this helps.

You need an app2sd script for it to move apps to /sd-ext.
im using int4ext+ with AOKP @ 1gb /sd-ext partition and have no problems with it !
symlinking /data/data/com.android.providers.download/cache (something like this, its the new path for /cache/download) to ext should fix it
Tapatalked with my HTC Desire
I installed Terminal emulator.
Open it
type 'su' to allow Root access
type a2sd reinstall
