Hi.
Just a quick question will clear this up for me.
In the Gallery settings there is a menu choice to:
View by
a) All content
b) Content in Phone
c) Content in Drobpox
d) Content in Facebook
e) Content in Picasa
By default it seems to show 'All content'
After selecting the option to show just "Content in Phone" it then reloads only the images in my Phone. BUT.. after closing the application and the next time I open the Gallery it's back again to showing "All content" as though it didn't remember my "View by 'Content in phone' selection"
QUESTION is: Is this normal behaviour? Or have my permissions being screwed with somewhere or somehow?
thanks in advance for any response

Cheers buddy. I wasn't sure. I'd been having some 'permissions' issues elsewhere (mostly resolved now), but was wondering if this was perhaps still one of them. GLAD to know it's not, but on the other hand not so glad that we can't save this damn setting. thanks again

This has been driving me nuts also. I thought I had it figured out; I assumed that the problem must be with syncing. I went into sync settings and unclicked "google photos" and "picasa" and was confident that would solve it, but noooooooooooooooooo.
I got the answer. I'm sure everyone else already knows this because a) last post before mine earlier was over a month ago, and b) I got the answer in the AT&T Note 2 forum, (which is where I should have been in the first place since that's the model I have! :silly so perhaps everyone saw it over there.
ANYway, if not, here you go:
As I assumed in my previous post, you need to uncheck Picasa/Google Photos from sync settings, THEN (the important part), clear the gallery's data.
Bye!
Sv: [Q] ?? Samsung GALLERY app not remembering "View by" settings??
Same on my Note. Really sucks. Another thing is that sometimes the phone completely delete the gallery's cache, wich means all thumbnails are gone. Really annoying. Samsung needs to update the Gallery App asap. It's overall perfomance sucks...

Same here. Loading the gallery take pretty long, especially when you have lots of facebook albums..

Does anybody knows how to delete instant upload picture on the galaxy nexus
It's such a pain in the ass, it took me deleting em off picasa/Google+ and then flashing a new rom.
Edit: This is just what I did in my frustration, might be an easier way that I am unaware of.
Sent from my Google phone
Go into G+ and then into Settings and you can disable the instant upload (or just disable it when first setting it up)

Have you tried going into the app and then the photos section, scrolling down to "photos from your phone", long pressing on the photo and then choosing the delete option? Or does that not perform the action you want (it will delete from phone and Google+).
there is no option to delele picture from google + site and if you go in to galery and go to instant uploads setting no option to delete picture.what do i do
That happens when you open the exact same thread two times...
I've answered to that question in the other one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437241
Uploading photos to facebook does not work for me.
The behavior is the same both when selecting photo upload from the facebook app, or when chosing to share to facebook from the gallery.
The upload progress in statusbar looks good and finishes, but then an error message is displayed in the statusbar that the transfer failed.
When initiating the upload from facebook a "popup" mesage that the photo could not be added is also displayed.
I tried wipe facebook cache and data and reinstall the app but that didn't solve anything.
I'm on AOKP build25 & franco kernel 18.6.
Anyone else with the same problem?
/Fredrik

Good to know that the problem exist also on stock. I wasn't sure if I ever tested it before I flashed a custom rom.

Did you try clearing the app's cache? Logging back in and trying to upload a pic again?
Yes, I wiped cache and data and even reinstalled the app.

Facebook's app is the worst written in Android history. It isn't your fault- they just can't write an update without breaking something. It's a known issue.
Possible solution
It's maybe a little late to offer a solution, but today I finally found out what could be the problem:
I normally share my pictures with "All friends, except ... " (please excuse wrong translation; don't know how it's called in English) and all my picture uploads failed without exception. Today I wanted to share a picture with "All" my friends and... it work perfectly! I tried some more and it seems my problems are gone.
So my possible solution:
-> You have to share with "all", not with some groups or with excluded people. The Facebook App and mobile site is too stupid to work with its own lists.
When creating a new post, just tap the little gear in the lower right corner and select share with "all". It's no solution for pics you don't want to show everyone of course, but it's the only workaround that allows you to upload at all.
After trying a couple things, such as clearing the app data/cache, reinstalling the app from the market, etc. I suspect that this is related more to the APN settings on the phone. I tested this by switching the APN on my AT&T Galaxy Nexus from the Tweakker APN settings (failed to upload pics/videos) to the original CINGULAR 410 (works like a charm, although it takes forever to upload). For reference, the Tweakker settings had the APN as "phone".
Hope this helps.

it is enough to only have one list of selfmade friend list. U do not have to share to "all" but u can make list of friends that can see your pictures, call it for example "see mypic friends" and only have that in the . But if u share it to: "see mypic friends" and "mom and dad" at the same it fails

Im not sure if this is a Galaxy Note 2 feature or a Jelly Bean feature.

Try creating a file in the dropbox folder titled ".nomedia" (no quotes, of course and you NEED the period). That should work for you

And work it did!
Not at first, though. I created the .nomedia file (in the PC's Dropbox root folder) and restarted the phone. Pictures were still there. So I went into settings / apps and started clearing data for Gallery, Multimedia storage and CloudAgent. That did the trick.
A big Thank You!
Important update:
There are a few settings I had overlooked. Under Settings / Personal / Cloud, the last two entries control synching images and/or videos. I had assumed these would prevent uploading images to Dropbox (they don't) but they work the other way around.

I went into Settings, Cloud, Disabled Pictures and Videos (both options at the bottom).
The thumbnails and cache and stuff were still on the phone in /storage/sdcard0/cloudagent . I cleaned the content of all those folders below. Next I opened the Gallery. Only local pictures and Facebook pictures there now. There is probably a setting for the Facebook pictures too... I check up on that (Yepp, there was. Settings, Facebook, Sync interval settings, Gallery Sync...).
I still prefer QuickPic over Gallery though...
Despite no Gallery Sync on my Facebook pictures it still loads them (it more or less becomes unresponsive during re-loading the Facebook pictures). It just checks them up during launch rather than through a regular sync. So, away Gallery goes for me (disabling it...since I wont use it anyway). If it can ignore my pictures on Facebook I might consider using it again.

Download the nomedia file from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?xqjjytzzznz
Unzip it and transfer the resulting .nomedia file to your phone. It's a hidden file (because the name starts with a period) so you have to enable "show hidden files" in your file manager to see it! Then just copy and paste that file into all folders you don't want gallery to index.

Before you try the .nomedia thing, if you removed the dropbox sync, go to
- Settings
- Application manager
- slide to the right to get ALL applications
- find the Gallery and do a Force stop then Clear data and clear cache.
Good luck

Uh man! totally missed the line where it says youre using the S3 and not the Note 2.
I assume the Cloud option is part of Jelly Bean 4.1 so we dont have it on the stock S3 yet.
You need to go to Accounts and sync under Settings and make sure your Dropbox account is not syncing (The 2 circling arrows are greyed out and not Green), then clean the Gallery data and cache again.
Btw, you should never give up on stuff that keeps annoying you

as the cause... it started to cache all my dropbox pics on my internal sd!

Settings>Google>'Your E-mail here'>Picasa
I don't know if it actually works since i don't use Picasa. but it's worth a shot.
My Sync Internet doesn't seem to sync
desont seem to work ;(
I managed to do it with an app called QuickPic and some adjustments in the settings!
After downloading Quickpic, you go to Settings>S Cloud. There, as the first screenshot shows you disable pics and video sync. (I belive you did that already.)
Then, you go to Settings >Google then you select your mail address and you'll have the options as you can see on the second screenshot. Untick picassa and google photos.
Now it is possible you still see some of your cloud pics on your device. I'm pretty sure you can't delete some of them with the stock galery app. So use Quickpic to delete them.
Hope it helped

Make sure the synching for the Picasa albums is still off, then go into Settings > Application manager. Select the All tab, find Gallery and hit the Clear data button. Next time you open the Gallery, it will take a moment to rebuild it but the Picasa albums should finally be gone.

Any way to stop Facebook photos showing in the gallery?
Hi guys,
I have noticed I tend to accumulate a lot of search history when using the internet browser (stock)
I have a T-Mobile Stock (rooted) GS4 and want to find an app from the market, or anyplace,
that can clean the search history for me using one button execution.
All the "history cleaners" I have tried, say they cleaned history, but soon as I open the browser and type something the old searched items are still showing up.
I'd be most appreciative if someone could point me to the solution other than manually deleting each day of history searches!
Mahalo!
Try clean master the masterpiece according to me....

How about History Cleaner:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.infolife.eraser
Has a Browser history record erase option.
In addition, it has a Widget which you can setup and decide which files are cleaned:good:
I'd post a screenshot, but all of a sudden am unable to upload attachments from my S4 for some reason. Files won't attach.
The Playstore has images which show the Browser History option.
I use the app myself, in addition to a different browser which has the option to erase history when exiting.

I hear ya. Here's a partial description from tthe apps site:
"It's a history eraser for android device, and it can clean history of apps by only one tap. It's similar to the "ccleaner" on PC. It can help you to protect your privacy, and it can also help you to free up the internal storage. No root premission required!
Feature:
★Clear Browser History
★Clear Call Log
★Clear text messages
★Clear Market Search............"
Maybe if you contact the Developer, he can explain or offer a solution as to why the Browser History isn't being erased, even though the description describes this as a feature.
