[Q] Why all rom jb... - HTC One X

have more than 700 mb of ram busy???? anyone write me a sense rom or desense with less ram?

That's not how linux memory management works. Free RAM is wasted RAM.
If you never run out of ram you have no problem.

you can also use superchager and you get nearly 150-200 mb free ram back ...and your phone is then faster also for gaming and better battery life...just search supercharger script might be also in hamdir's thread also or in mwilkys gaming boost app thread in the themes and apps section and yes i will REALLY help

[Q] how much ram do you have on your arc ???

Mine shows used 198 mb, free 106 mb... Totalling for 304 mb... Am I not supposed to have 512 mb ram ??
Is this defect with my arc or the whole Indian version of arc...
What are you guys getting... Please post so that I can go for replacement...
I would like ti tell you that though my stats show only 300 mb of ram, my arc is in no way slow... I run spb shell 3d and its very smooth...
Seriously need advice...

The Arc has 512MB for RAM, and 320MB for storage.
I believe some of the RAM is reserved for the operating system, and doesnt show up in memory reports. A bit silly IMO.
Similarly, i think the phone actually has 1GB of internal storage, but 320MB is what's left to the user after OS installation.

well, the official site says it has :
Internal phone storage: 1GB (up to 320MB free)
RAM: 512MB
so, my guess is, the android system use up most of the internal storage (~650mb) so we only have ~320mb free.
and the we only get ~350mb ram couse ~150mb is shared with the graphic.
CMIIW
Kernel etc needs RAM to, because of that we have only 343MB RAM for the users. Other phones have 400 or more MB available and they have also 512MB RAM.
I wish we'd have 400MB, too.
My Arc runs for 150 hours now and RAM is down to 40MB free RAM. Which causes launcher redraws when I open big apps

yeah, i wish we'd have 400mb too, is that posible ?
your arc runs 150 hours ?!
how is that possible ?
mine usually last 1 day (heavy use) or 2 days (normal use)..
I think it should be possible with a custom kernel to enable more RAM that's available to the user.
I mean uptime, not battery life

HTC one x ram usage

Hi every one , I started this thread to see the amount of ram people are being left with with no apps in the multitasking .the reason is because we get 1gb of ram and I still found my one x doesn't have a lot of ram left , my phone uses between 800 and 900 mbs of ram which is too much I think.I believe it is because of HTC sense 4.0 to be honest .Due to lag when scrolling with live wallpapers , I have a launcher as I believe it runs smoother.sorry for ranting but my question is this: how much ram does your phone use and what launcher do you use ?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD app
Task Manager: If i stop all i have 594mb used and 382mb free.
In setting\apps: 585used, 392 free.

Good information about Android memory management here:

If I kill all tasks I have about 400mb free. With apps running as normal, I have between 150 - 250mb free. I have about 85 apps installed.
Check this out , if you want more RAM free check this thread (I disabled all the bloatware and languages apart from English )

Curious with so much memory usage on hox,
I went in to Samsung showroom, and test SGS3, clear memory on its taksmanager, I've got 390MB afterward.
Didn't much different from my hox, so... theory about sense 4 bloat? debunked, touchwiz also the same.
If you want more maybe you need pruse aosp rom.
Another point is that a phone is NOT like a pc you don't need loads of ram sitting doing nothing. I've no probs sitting with about 190mb left when I'm using my phone. if there's more it just means it's being wasted

Most of the ram used is cached ram which is freed as soon as an app needs it. Normal apps actually use very little ram.
In other words stop worrying about it.
Thanks for the responses

How come you guys have so much free space? I have 378 used and 294 free. I have the NA HOX
I've check from setting>app>running,it says 674mb has been use and 309mb free without task killer.sometimes when I restart my phone, there's will hv 4xxmb available, but never can keep it anyway

Why do you want lots of free RAM? I would rather have it being used and doing something productive than sitting there idle. That's the point of it, this aint a PC as someone else has said, you need to stop obsessing over something pointless.

[Q] How can I free some RAM on ICS

Hello,
I have recently installed the markpython ICS rom and a noticed a problem.
After installed a few programs, but when I see the free RAM, i notice that the free RAM is to low.
I want to know if there's some way that I can free memory in my Xperia Play or if I can put some swap space or some kind of optimization to give some more RAM to programs works.
Sorry for bad english

Try supercharger or something like that or even better would be to just avoid ics all together. That os is just a memory hog and the xplay really isn't up to the task
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
Thanks,
I will try the SuperCharger V6.
I don't really want back to Gingerbread becouse I liked it. It have some functions and the memory consumption is not so high than my last full stock instalation with all sony trashes.
If the SuperCharger can reorganize my apps, all my problems will be solved.
Sorry for my bad english.

I will recommend to keep using GB, ICS is really slow, if it is not slow some applications crashes. Depending of the rom you are getting there is also a post where they fixed the circle button for some games like emulators.
I am on cm9 and usually have about 110 ram free at all times until I start opening apps. How much do you normally? If lower than 70 start freezing some stuff. I like ice features too much to go back to GB

Aviable ram?

This is my first post and my english is very poor.
Ok, as i can see the maximun amount of free ram that we can get to our plays is arround 250 mb, but my galaxy tab have the same ram (512mb) and i can get more than 300 mb with bloatwere. So anyone knows why?

Their systems are different. Some system takes up more RAM but some don't. I assume your tab can't make calls and sms, so there will be more RAM available than phone.
I think Xperia Play have less than 512MB of RAM. I have seen other Xperia 2011 models with 512MB (Arc S and Neo) and they have more RAM looking at the app manager.
Obtain 250MB of free memory is an epic win in this phone even with the lightest GB rom.

My partner has an Arc S and the ram on her phone is alot worse than my play, I get around 234mb free ram and her arc S gets around 183mb free and both are on Gb stock

I mean, if you sum the used RAM and the free RAM... Xperia Play has less total RAM than an Arc S. Or at least that's what I remember.
And it's possible to "block" some of this features ( via kernel or whatever ) to have more aviable RAM?

[Q] Why now cm10.1 RAM only 592 fewer

Please Pardon My English is not very good:victory::victory:
Why xda developers forum cm10.1 kernel support less and less RAM can expand the point is at least as big as you like cm7.2.
I also tried to swap the sd card but the device becomes unstable
It's because the missing RAM is allocated to the camera.
Missing ram is using as a swap memory (memory used for linux temporary files) and other applications to mAke it faster. As for the unstablity files of android 4 is not properly configured for the device
