fix 90% of android lags? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032
anyone tried this on their note 2?

You know how sometimes when you hit the home button, it takes 5-10 seconds for the home screen to repopulate?

If it takes 5 to 10 seconds to redraw the home screen on our phone for any reason... consider getting a new device...

I'm giving it a go. So far, nothings broke. Gotta give it time to see if it is a placebo effect.

Same here. Giving it a shot. Don't know if the phone could actually be any faster though
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app

Well, here's my observations so far. Again, YMMV. I'm using g reader pro to pull in android central, phandroid, gizmodo, and 500px. Of all the news feeds, 500px is about as laggy as it gets on this phone. It usually takes a second, or three to load each pic. I can honestly say that this time around it loaded almost instantaneous. There's usually about a hundred or so pics in that thread, so it takes some time to view all of them. I pretty much flew through the 98 in today's pull. Opening up XDA premium app usually hangs at the splash screen for a couple seconds, this time it was less than a second. I opened and closed the app just to make sure, and it is way better now. I also did the hand the phone to the wife so she could look at my vacation pics that I took. After a couple pics, she turned and asked if I had over clocked my phone again. I said no...so, it seems to be doing what the tin said. What little lag this phone has had( that I hadn't really considered "lag" ) , is pretty much been diminished. This was just a short term test, but what little I've seen, I'm already impressed. Now for the long term, we shall see how she behaves, and what possible negative impacts it may have. He did say battery might take a small hit, but I usually have at least 40% by the time I go to bed, so a non issue for me.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium

It might have to do with the home button being the shortcut for the S-voice.
Disable the S-voice hot key for the home button and it should be going on pretty much normal like any other Android device.

There's a large discussion about the possibility of this being a placebo effect here. It's worth checking out.

But if it "seems" faster to me then it is faster to me and that's all that counts. Seems a bit faster so I'll take it. A placebo effect is an "effect".

You can't rely on that toggle. It's busted, per the developer. So it probably was running. Go to terminal and check processes for verification.

Fair enough. It definitely seemed faster to me too... although I noticed that my battery was going down faster than usual without any change in use on my end. I think the CPU freq stepping on the kernel side may be the culprit. Someone else mentioned it previously, but it would make sense that everything would run smoother if the CPU wasn't stepping down due to a simulated high load on the processor. It would also explain the battery life. I'm curious to see what everyone finds.

Yeah I been uninstalled this thing.. I didn't notice any change and my phone always flies

Best MMORPG game for Android (by far) - $0.99 for a couple more days!

Go get "Order and Chaos" from the market for $0.99. You get a free 3-mo subscription, then it's $2.99/6mo from then on. The game is absolutely amazing. Really rich in detail, still-growing community, and reasonable (read: not insane) leveling reqs. You won't be disappointed.
Thanks been wanting this. Can anyone get backstab to download? I got chain fire but says my phone isn't compatible.

Yeah, I complained about the no-4g thing in my official review of the game, but still!
About the force closing thing (for me it's about every 15 min over 3g)...it's NOT the same time duration when I play over wifi...then it either doesn't fc at all, or if it does, it's usually after much longer of play. What I *think* happens is that the signal drops for a second and that forces the game to fc (why not just lag a bit, I don't know...). But if you look at your signal after a fc, it will generally be 1x (i.e., not 3g), so I think it has something to do with that.
Can anyone confirm they get the fc and they consistently have good signal when it happens??

+1 on this -- it is just a game crash generally, although it has fc'ed on me twice. There's a bunch of threads on games crashing on our devices (not specific to order and chaos...), and hopefully it's being looked into by samsung/sprint. If you have any info on your phone crashing the game, please report it so a solution is more forthcoming. Thanks!
So this game crashes often on the Epic Touch? Just curious, I might give it a try. It most likely drains the battery pretty quick though hmm, expected of course.

First I want to give you huge props for actually reading and doing all that on your own instead of posting a ton of useless threads with questions that can easily be found! But to answer your question, the My Account app has its own power save feature, try going into that app and adjusting it from there or just disabling it all together. Hope this helps.

Thanks! I can tell! making the transition from hw Kb to all touch is kinda weird but this.phone is so capable and powerful its awesome!
Welcome dude and yea i would just disable this phone is great with battery life anyways. One suggestion tho i would freeze tmobile my account all together in titanium backup or uninstall it tgats if u have it installed it actually messes with wifi. When your on wifi it will turn on 4g signal whenever data is requested which isnt good cuz u think ur using wifi the whole time. Ever since ive disabled tgat app i have not had a problem with wifi or 4g service. I actually think its a way for tmobile to snoop on our data. I made a thread about this and other people have confirmed this app to be the culprit. I actually was gonna take my phone back because i couldnt get wifi to stay connected so thats when i started investigating and found this
Hmm I like to keep track of my data usage but if thats the case away it goes!

It's not unusual for a phone to get warm when running cpu/gpu intensive processes like games. It only becomes a problem when it gets incredibly hot and forces the phone to reboot or the battery gets too hot to touch.

Is without a doubt, the best rom I've tried yet. Just wanted to give props and show off a screenshot. The only thing I've found wrong with this rom is that is so damn perfect, I feel like there's nothing more I can do to it to tweak it or improve it
Well, the only thing I would like to figure out is how to make a live wallpaper based on the screenshot below with wiggly Cthulhu tentacles! RAWR!
Well I can't post images so included a file for those interested in seeing it in action but haven't flashed this goodness yet.

Just a heads up... when running the powersave governor, you're forcing your CPU tonrun at the minimum. So in fact your CPU doesn't run above 384mhz. I am sure that its pretty laggy. Also the device itself will force cpu1 offline when not needed.

Based on what I have learned from reading and personal experiences, I would say that there is no "one-size-fit-all" for the best way to save battery. My wife and I have the same devices (T989), and I have both of theme tweaked different; different roms, kernels, etc.
Even though these devices are "identical", the set up I have on my device saves me lots of batter; I can go anywhere between 18 to 48 hours depending on usage and other factors. Same set up on my wife's phone wasn't as effective. However, the way I have her phone teaked, works best for her but not for me.
I would say that it really all depends on how you use your phone, settings, tweaks, widgets, sync, etc.
Please everyone enough with negativity! In my opinion using profiles for ocing and ucing in addition to juice defender is the way to go
I use OC/UV Beater on BM 5.1 ROM.

Android System - Stay Awake

Hello Forum,
So i have been having trouble getting good battery life. I basically have nothing running and it goes dead. I think i might be on the right track but not sure.
I was looking at my android system in battery and noticed that the stay awake time was really high as anybody else seen this.
I added a screen shot so u can see. Any help would be great.
Thanks
SHiFT.
Dl better battery stats, it will tell you exactly what is keeping your phone awake. Not much assistance can be given until you know exactly what's causing the issue. Also try a simple reboot, at time something in android system went rogue on me and a reboot fixed it up.
