Galaxy note 2 All-in-one tool kit 3.0 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi guys I have a question regarding the toolkit. Assuming it doesn't matter but I have T-Mobile note 2 and would like to use the tool kit to root it today. But I don't have internet where I'm at currently. I guess it's safe to assume this tool kit needs an internet connection to download files as needed or does it currently have all its needed upon install? I'm guessing it relies upon the server on the other end. Anyone know for sure?
Thank you

Use this exploit to root it right on your phone, takes about 5 seconds. Installs like any other apk file, and can unroot right from the apk also.

All the files are included bro. The only thing it uses the internet for is to look for upgrades for the actual toolkit.

Awesome, thank you

I hope I don't get bashed for my lack of knowledge here but I have another question. I've never experienced this with any other phone I've rooted. in the about phone section when I go to check for software updates. it just keeps checking in checking it doesn't seem to reach the other end. I ended up rooting with the tool kit by flashing the insecure boot image.and afterwards reflashed the secure boot image. so now the checking for software update doesn't seem to work anymore. I'm assuming to fix this I have to reflash the stock rom through odin, via the toolkit? I'm very much appreciate your guys assistance thank you.

I tried this and it still didn't work. Is there something wrong with the computer?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
There is something wrong with what you are doing, because thousands of people have used these guides. Why don't you start by telling us what, exactly, isn't working.
Odin won't work. It won't go past and say the pass. Whats wrong.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Make sure you are in download mode
Make sure you have the usb drivers installed
Make sure you have any anti virus and anything that might block program access to usb disabled.
Run Odin as administrator (just a guess here I have never heard of this being a problem)
Take it slow read over the guides again. If you can't use Odin you will have trouble rooting.
Personally I recommend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33460832
Cf auto root is incredibly easy method but still requires Odin.
We need much more information to help you.

Hello, regarding my root. :(

So I have been rooted for a couple months now with no problems at all, I do have the t-mobile note 2 which is model # SGH-T889. And I opened up Superuser and there is an unroot button which was not check but soon became checked I was unaware at the time you can even unroot a phone via a program. Is there a way to reverse this problem, all of my rooted apps no longer allow me to open them up, But for say wallpappers and some other apps I was able to keep them
www(dot)/gyazo(dotcom)/74c27571285f3d19f866b09be020013a
That is what my Titanium backup says above.
I also tried installed the newere SuperSU or whatever that didn't work either.
And even still "Software update" "Your device has been modified.Software updates are not available" Hit OK, I only just found out today there is a program called "Voodoo OTA RootKeeper" Only had I known about this program yesterday none of this would have happened, in the "Voodoo OTA RootKeeper"there should be check marks allow me to uncheck/recheck and there is no huge button for backup/unroot/root. that tells me I'm not rooted I guess.
A buddy of mine actually helped me root via teamviewer And I do not have the proper kit/know how to do it for my model #. If someone can help me in another way besides just rerooting the original way that would help. But if not if you have a known good rootkit for my situation.
I am sorry if this is not in the right section under my phone. I wanted to put it in the dev area but read that they will delete it if you put it there, even though It would seem that is the proper area since this is a rooting situation.
If you guys need any more information about my issue please ask
Get odin and flash the rooted version of your phone let's say the mb4 or idk which one is exactly. But that should work with odin. If im wrong someone correct me....

Are you sure it is rom I need to DL, Don't I need to be rooted first to get the rom on there? My problem is my phone is half rooted, titanium backup says clear busybox and one other app, but every single other app says I need to be rooted, Along with that being weird when I try to do a software update. It tells me that I have a modded device so I cannot do it. In the mean while before I reroot again I would like to get the most recent update.

[Q] cm 10.1 rom needed for heimdall 1.3.1

I moved this quiestion to a more general forum. Apologies for the duplicate.
---
Hi, I previously rooted my s3 intl with an AOKP Jellybean rom, but I am finding it slow.
I decided to try the latest CyanogenMod, and downloaded the files listed here hwiki.cyanogenmod.org /w/Install_CM_for_i9300
I got the error that the Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package needed to be installed, so I did so, but got errors that the later vesion was installed.
I uninstalled 2012, and tried again. It installed successfully, but I still got the error, so I rebooted etc etc, tried downloading the dll and placing it in the various directories.
Long story short I get the same error that the dll is not installed. So I had to give that up.
So i then downloaded heimdall 1.3.1 front end and installed it.
But now it says that the tag headers don't match. I read somewhere that the rom must be the same version as the heimdall suite. But I can't find a rom now, after MUCH searching online.
I would really appreciate some help with this. :crying:
Wrong device. This is the sprint forum.
And you don't root devices with a ROM.

Sorry, yes that's why I commented at the top that I moved the question.
Regarding rooting, I refer to the first time, is there a way to root without one?
Many thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
@Bensmom Yes rooting has nothing to do with rom. You can root any phone while on the stock factory installed rom. Now after you have acquired root you can flash custom roms or leave the stock rom. Rooting simply means getting access to the root directory of your device.

A little while ago I was intrigued by rooting my phone and possibly trying something different. At the moment it is rooted and I ran into a few problems. I have no idea what I am doing but I have a fairly good mind set as long as I am taught by doing. I am mostly hands on with this and reading anything at this point isn't helping. When I rooted my phone I ran into a few issues but managed to fix a few things on my own. Gallery stopped working but got that fixed and snote does not work now. I am assuming it will not work due to Knox. I guess what I am looking to do is understand fully the ways to flash the proper things and how. So far all I have done is rooted using cl auto root then I found a stock Rom which I flashed after and so far no other than snote. At the time I wanted to obtain note 3 apps like air command. Now that 4.4.2 or whatever is coming out I am stuck at what to do. I am also trying to learn and do it the right way. Slow is good. I appreciate the reach out and thanks again.

No worries.
Let's start with KitKat, the next version of firmware to be pushed out whenever ATT feels like it.
The phone needs to be totally stock, non-rooted, no custom recovery, all the original apps. If it's not, the Over The Air update will fail, Usually not a problem since within a week or two one of our gurus gets the files and builts a flashable zip file.
When you flash a ROM it usually with just contain the /system directory. That's the guts of the ROM. Has the apps, ROM properties, it's where the super user command lives.
You can download a ROM. Use unzip and look at the files in there. If a zip file has kernel.img or modem.img the builder has included the modem file, which drives network connections. And the kernel file, which I consider the heart of the ROM.
There are two main custom recovery options. TWRP and CWM.
Here's a good guide for TWRP.
http://www.addictivetips.com/android/what-is-twrp-how-to-install-use-it-on-android-devices-guide/
Explains flashing. backing up your ROM, restoring, etc. A must read.
Here's a guide I wrote that explains how to got back to the original stock ROM the Note 2 shipped with, and getting it back to the 4.3 OTA.
Another good read. But I may be a touch biased.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618447
Since you did the CF-ROOT, you know how to use ODIN, You can flash TWRP from ODIN. Instructions are in my guide.
As Knox hosed up Note 2, I doubt it. If you want to practice, read the TWRP guide. Then read my guide, go to Post #3. Do option 2. You will flash TWRP, then download one of the stock ROMs built by one of the gurus I mentioned above.
That will get you rooted and should fix your SNote issues.
I know at this point it will fail as I am rooted and if one try to do an update it says I messed with it. I will read your guides above and see what I can make of it. Using Odin was fairly simple but still curious as to which place to put the files in Odin and is it better to put files on ex's card, sdcard or do it from pc

A majority of the flashes in ODIN require the files in PDA. Any deviation from that will hopefully be stated in the instructions.
I'm not sure what you mean by this ?
is it better to put files on ex's card, sdcard or do it from pc
Are you still talking about ODIN? If so from PC......
Yes sorry... I have mobile Odin as well which if I am not mistaken allows you to do the same. Or is it strictly for seeing what you have flashed?

Not sure. I strictly use the PC version. Like what's in my guide. The ODIN 3.07 I think I posted.
Before I go to far here. I just wanted to clarify a few things. I have ai317m which is Rogers Canadian note 2. I am not sure if this makes any difference or not with twrp or the toms u were referring to in your guide. I guess for now let's see if I can get it back to stock so I can for now get back to New Jurkat update. I meant to mention since I had flashed a stock Rom after cfauto that the battery and speed has been great. I can run like 2 to 3 days without charging.
Anyways I am looking at guide now and trying to figure out which one I am supposed to use. Oh and I believe I have twrp installed already just fighting to get booted into it. Been giving me a hard time.

The 4.1.1 will torch everything. What are you looking to save? Apps ? If so use like Titanium Backup or Mybackup Pro to save them off.
Save them to external sdcard.
As far as what is a compatible ROM, everything under the AT&T Galaxy Note II Android Development is good. There are different flavors. Stick with stock to start off with.

Backing up using TB pro.... Have found one other issue besides snote not working and that is I cannot copy add or change anything on exd card. This is even after I had to format it earlier when I did a clean wipe a few days again. I am doing a sync to drop box and one other online drive. When that is done I will try to do another backup to PC. What's correct way or best way getting into teepee or should I even worry about it. Should I just flash Twrp and then flash 4.1.1 and then update to 4.3?

Even better. If you still have it that would be to flash.

I am downloading 4.1.2. I want to make sure of the ones I have. You are probably right that I should do 4.1.2 first. Or do you think I should just do 4.3 from sams. Would be nice to get all working again properly.

[Q]Tried every suggestion for rooting Galaxy Note2 with Kot49H.l900vpucne2 4.4.2

I have been trying for days to root my Galaxy Note 2. running Kot49H.l900vpucne2 4.4.2. an update I could not stop.
Any way, I have tried, Note 2 tool kit, cf-odin, jodin3, and various other ideas I found in many forums. I have tried changing the file extension
everything. I am very perplexed! I have found the knox files, all 10 of them, but I can not delete anything without Root.
I have even tried the other Recovery programs too, none will take hold. The knox thing is a big hurdle. I can not mount them either. One denial after another. I hope I can get some other ideas today. I can not even change the rom, all I get is fail.. Also, none of the settings I give it stay either, like system update. I have turned it off and it just comes right back.I had Whompasaurus on here and I needed to update to the original to load a new rom, MK4. I could really use some step by step instructions.
I have tried using Philz touch too.
I can not believe no one has a answer or suggestions for me.
Thought this was a place to get help.
First, did you manage to root yet? If not did you try Chainfire Auto-Root (or was that "cf-odin"?) If not, hopefully, these two pages should help. I successfully rooted my Sprint Note 2 (NE2) (SPH-L900) using it. Be sure to make sure you choose the right package for your model. Good luck.
