I cant tether at all even with root access.. I dont have the tethering plan ofcourse.

I just purchased the galaxy tab from sprint as a wifi only device. I put it on my bill since they are about to do away with it, lol.... but wondering can I tether from my ep4g? Do I need to root? And if I root can I just root for tether?
I am not new to rooting or android but I have never tethered so any insight on what you guys think is best would be appreciated. I may just add hotspot to my phone if all fails

Hi, just wondering, what is the stock sprint hotspot called? Im rooted but on stock EL29 2.3.6 and trying to find it in root explorer so that I can delete it since i use the wifi tether app. Can sum1 help me?

lol tethering? it depends.. personally im rooted with a custom rom that has tethering built in that just works.

If you want Wifi Tethering you don't need root either, try Foxfi.
Check with Sprint in order to make sure that you don't break your contract though. Obviously if it does break your contract, don't use it.

That is exactly my problem as well. Foxfi was working fine until the stupid update to ICS. Anyone know any other ways to get free wifi from my phone now?

The jedi roms do...but if you are on the unlimited plan you need to use useragent on chrome so tmo doesnt know you are on your computer

Yes Tethering has been fixed they won't detect you
it says right on the Opening Page of the link I sent you...
and I will quote it for you
"Tethering Provisions Removed
Tethering APN Edited"
They won't know you tether
that way you will not get charged man

I can confirm that JMT JB4 tethering works solid. It even placed the Tmo hotspot app in the drawer and it is a quick toggle on the dropdown menu. I've used about 11GB of data on it so far in the last week and a half and Tmo has not throttled or cut me off.

I have an unlimited 4g plan. But you can use all the data you want. It just won't be 4g after the first 2GB.
