[REQUEST] T889V Modem Firmware Dumps - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi there,
I'm working at creating a solution for EFS/MODEM firmware repair on the Galaxy Note II models and I'm in need of a SGH-T889V modem firmware dumps. I need a rooted user to simply perform the following commands from a terminal on the phone, or while using ADB SHELL under the su user. Once at the command line issue this command, then simply upload the files which end up on your sdcard to me here. That's it!
Thanks in advance!
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 of=/sdcard/m9kefs1 bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 of=/sdcard/m9kefs2 bs=4096
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 of=/sdcard/m9kefs3 bs=4096
PLEASE NOTE, THESE MUST BE FROM A T889V. A T889 CARRIES COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FIRMWARE. IF YOU HAVE A T889 AND WOULD LIKE TO DONATE THAT WOULD BE GREAT AS WELL AND A GOOD CAUSE TOWARDS THE T889 SOLUTION FOR YOUR DEVICE. NO EFS/IMEI NUMBERS OR SERIAL INFORMATION IS STORED IN THESE DUMPS EITHER SO THERE ARE NO CLONING OPERATIONS TAKING PLACE.

Hope u can do that bcse I already mess up mine! I dont have iMEI but still having efs folder. If u can do make a solution I would appreciated. Good luck!

My concept has already been proven for the SGH-T889 model and the SGH-I317 model. I just don't have a working SGH-T889V model to make my modem firmware dumps from. Once I get that, the solution will be live for all of those SGH-T889V users who are bootlooping bricked from damaged modem firmware.

Really? Where can I find the solution for mne? T889

Checking the files now hkfan, thanks so much. Do you have a PayPal address? I'd like to toss ya a donation...
One question, were you on a T889V firmware running stock T889V modems during this dump?

Hi there,
The files did provide me with a 99% solution to the issue. I have the device booting properly now, I have restored the IMEI/DATA values and it has no issues other than the fact it requires a T889 modem to properly work. It works fine with the T889 modem on T889V firmware but when the T889V modem is flashed it boots to the OS and reboots after a few force closes. I know the T889 modem is a bit larger than the T889V modem so I even went as far as blowing away the modem partition and recreating it (simple FAT 16 structure) but the unusual issue persists. The customer however is on board with it and is provides a working device versus one that does not. Your help has been awesome and the Wind Note II community should all CLICK YOUR THANKS BUTTON for this...

YES PLEASE!!! I have been in need of the file you are speaking about for 2 months now. PLEASE provide the download info you would be my savior! Thank you in advance

Hey there, I downloaded the modem and I am trying to use it with odin, but odin doesn't seem to recognize the file. be it from bootloader or pda etc. Am I supposed to use odin with this modem? Help please

I have VLALJ4 modem from a T889V I am using (wind) if you have a different version, maybe this one will help?
Does anyone need it?
Where can I find a list of "wind" modems for the note 2 if I want to play with some and test my signal?
thanks.

Ignore my previous post, I have figured out how.
But on the other hand, I still get no service and the phone keeps telling me it's still searching for signal.
My build is the uvalj1 version, should i download a different version?
Would flashing a different rom fix my no signal problem by any change? Heard they have different radio files or something close to that?

yessssss! I would love that modem please! Life saver!

Remember guys, the T889V modem, the whole ROM for that matter, is identical across Wind, Mobilicity and Videotron.
The only difference lies in the CSC files. And *maybe* a few NV item settings.

Hi I have an issue on my verizon note 2 where it is stuck in roaming and Adam Outler seems to say that if I restore the m9kefs1, 2, and 3 partitions it should fix it but he didnt reply to me on how to pull them. Anyways my question is are you positive these are the m9kefs partitions and that I can pull someone else's and dd them to my device? Thanks for taking the time to read this.

[Q] No Service - Insert SIM card. Does not recognize SIM after Root with custom ROM

Rooted my AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note ii (SGH-I317)
Installed custom ROM and now get no service.
Upon checking Settings -> Mobile Network
It says: INSERT SIM card Insert SIM card to access network services
About Devices has all the correct information except:
Baseband version says: UNKNOWN
How do I fix this?
Did my SIM card somehow and need to get a new SIM and call AT&T to reactivate another SIM?
My guess is that I would need stock ROM image to fix this but cannot find it.
I did find Stock Rooted I317UCALJ2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986556)
image but still no Service.
Any help would be appreciated as my phone is a BRICK now and useless.
thanks
i have the exact same problem and can't seem to find an answer...
restore stock rom and still nothing...
did you flash a ROM & Radio for the international Note II (N7100 or N7105)? check your phone for an IMEI number; if it's not there, then you'll have to fix that first. you aren't the first to have this problem and i've read other posts where users were able to correct the problem.
I like how no one responded for 2 months.
Worst case scenario flash stock and triangle away to 0 flash counter amd take it back. Lol. Say it stopped working.

Your comment makes a lot of sense... I'm running root on stock and didn't have a problem. I've recently installed CMW thru Odin which I'm pretty sure I did right but then...I installed a kernel to be able to overclock... could the kernel have mess up my radio? I'm not able to pull up my imei... Can you point me to the right directions in order to restore my stock Rogers kernel?

I have been here. Installed the CrashRom which was probably not meant for 1317s. Though I loved the ROM, my model number was displayed as 7100, IMEI was null and mobile network would display insert sim message.
If you watched the installation of the rom.. you would have noticed that at the end it rewrites your modem/radio files. Thankfully even after a wipe, the all important NV folder was there.
I was able to find the original AT&T rom at stockroms and also the original modem files for the 1317. I did a full wipe and installed this rom back..and thankfully the radio was back online. Didn't have to flash the modem. Now with a working phone, I wanna read well before I flash my rom again.
Hope this helps. Though I am a newbie.. If you need any further information.. feel free to send me a message.

If you look in the development section in the All in One forum link, there is a link to the stock rogers ROM and radio.
I don't know if you have done this but it hasn't been mentioned in the post so I thought I would mention it.
I had the same happen to me. The radio just quit. I had a circle with a slash through it. I Odin flashed the stock tar and no luck in fact it got worse and I had to get phone replaced. I have a ton of flashing experience and this was a first for me. I think like someone mentioned above it was a mix match ROM with some pieces from the international version although it was posted as an AT&T ROM. I still have to send it back but after seeing that someone above fixed theirs I am sending a PM

Yeah that's exactly what happened to me, lol, installed the CrashRom. But thanks to this failure of epic proportions, I've learnt so much and I've succeeded in restoring my Rogers modem files
Now I got my nandroid backup, and if I mess up again, I got my Rogers stock ROM, radios, and kernel with me at all times

I know from past experience using ODIN for the Droid Charge, we had to pull the SIM before flashing. People were getting their SIMs fried sometimes. The remedy was to remove until the flash was complete. Avoid touching the contacts though.

I wanted to bump this as I am having the same issue. I tried using Odin to reinstate the stock rom and radio and still nothing.
So this happened to me and after I unrooted and factory reset I had no luck, called Att and got a new one. But I don't know why it stopped reading my sim, it. Worked in my iPhone 5. Strange

can u give any links to these forums, yes i install n7100 rom on my i317 and yes i don't have a imei.
Well my friend ...I've got to tell you up front ...that the likelihood of getting your device repaired on your own is remote at best...
You have damaged the device partitions ...and likely do not have a usable backup of the EFS folder..
The EFS contains the IMEI number used for restoration purposes...
I'm not going to tell you that a repair cannot be done..as a select few users were able to fix a bricked device...but I will suggest your best solution ...IMHO
Contact the good folks at :
mobiletechvideos.com
And let them know what you did..
They offer a complete restoration service to repair your device correctly ...and can likely do the job in about a week...
They are located in Texas, USA I believe ...and they have an excellent reputation for quality service...
Your choice of course...but if I were in your situation...I'd send the device to them in a second...
Time is money...at least for me...and although I could probably fix it...I don't have a RIFF BOX...or a JTAG ...
Others will post up with links to help you...and after you have a chance to look them over ...you can decide..
Very sorry for the damaged phone....g

Now the info I have on the phone is
model sgh t989

baseband t989uvmc6 .
The phone is not reading my SIM at all. It shows my carrier but no signal strength at all. I have read the above post. My IMIE number is still there.

[Q] 317 pit on a t889

Hi I'm wondering if a 317 pit would work on a 889. I've been waiting for a pit for the 889, but it seems like no one has one to upload. I currently on fo the people using a t889v which can only be used with a t-mobile t889 baseband to get an IMEI. if I flash my stock modem t889v it boots but restarts a few seconds after lock screen loads. If i factory reset it doesn't even make it to lockscreen before restarting. I managed to quickly get to the status and saw baseband was unknown with t889v modem and IMEI was unknown. I don't have a backup because I purchased this phone through kijiji and it was already like this.
TLR
need pit file to flash stock t889v rom with re-partition to see if it solves issue.
wondering if 317 pit file will work on t889
I realize this could potentially hard brick, running out of options.
thank you for any input

thanks a lot. I'll try that. just need to find a list to look specifically. I don't have time to try these right now. Thanks again
I used the 'CF-Auto root' tar for the GT7105.. worked just fine for me using 'LK8' baseband on SGH-T889.
Whats the outcome when you flash stock t889 rom without repartition?

Nailed it!!!!!!!!! My 4g is back again

Last week, I did the most stupid thing on my note 2 (SGH-t889). I saw a rom that i liked for the n7100 and flashed on my 889v. Of course, rom works fine but no DATA OR VOICE :crying:crying:
So I flashed my phone with my previous rom and I had data again. All of a sudden, after installing all my apps, I lost the connection. My phone went completely crazy
i saw unknown baseband on settings / phone status; phone rebooted itself. I tried to flash a stock rom, or even flash the 889v modem on any rom and no luck; i was on a constant boot loop
I had to flash another modem from T-Mobile to get out of boot looping (MODEM: T889UVALL4_Modem-Jan_16_13-teshxx) but i couldn't get on any network even if I my phone could detect them (I'm on Videotron).
I've searched xda and other sitEs for solution on how to fix an almost empty esf folder. On a tmo modem my emei was 0 0 and on videotron modem it was null.
SOLUTION
My efs folder was almost empty; no nv_data.bin and those other files.
I went across this site
http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-tutorials/how-to-enable-t-mobile-3g4g-aws-bands-on-att-galaxy-note-2-sgh-i317/
It's a tutorial on how to enable aws on the AT&T note 2. It had just what i needed: a qcn file. Ive follwed the directions on the site; flashed the qcn file with the QPST software and rebooted the phone. My emei was a bunch of 0. No signal still but the battle wasn't loss.
On this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117
I've used the EMEI NVitem generator to create en encrypted file of my EMEI
Put it on the the NV reader / writer, reboted the phone
And VOILA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i got my signal back but with a tmo modem (MODEM: T889UVALL4_Modem-Jan_16_13-teshxx)
my 4g is back and my gps is working flawwless
Now, just to let you know, I'm not a developer and i take no credit for this. Even if this thread get approved or deleted, I just wanted to help other members like me who are stuck on the same situation (especially 889v owners). At the end.... MY PHONE IS BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. I followed your steps to the letter and it worked, thank you so much!!
Have you flashed back to a VTR modem or would that mess everything up? Thanks again for your help.
From past experience flashing the videotron modem would bring me back to boot loop, wouldnt lose imei or signal but would start then after 30secs reboot.. Im stuck with tmo modem. Works fine but signal seems a little weaker.
i have canadian note2 t889v that i got from craigs the other day. everything seemed fine, didnt have sim to try for mobilicity that im on (aws band), he said he used it with rogers fine
I put the sim card, went to search networks but my provider was not listed there. So I rooted the phone , loaded twrp, flashed prerooted factory rom for t889v ( from mrrobins) , no network, than i flashed original factory rom, still no luck, than i flashed t889v modem and still the same.
My imei is present, and matches one on back of the phone. My efs folder is there and is populated (dont know if anything is missing from there)
I dont have backup of efs or imei. What are the chances it is corrupted ? Does anyone have any suggestion, and should i try this method to try to fix it ?
You may have to put your apn settings manually for your carrier. I would try that to start.

Have you check the *#2263# menu to make sure it is on the correct band, also in network setting you can switch to gsm, wcdma, so on. As for imei as far as I know if it were corrupt your imei would be bad. Is it possible the phone has been blacklisted?
That code dont work in stock dialer. And mobilicity dont block imei #

i have canadian note2 t889v that i got from craigs the other day. everything seemed fine, didnt have sim to try for mobilicity that im on (aws band), he said he used it with rogers fine

Network help needed

Ok, So I am a total noob here. I know nothing about rooting, etc. The problem is that I have a galaxy note 2 but its the SGH i317 model. I'm getting low signals and they often seem to drop. However, when there is zero coverage, I see full signals but those are just for emergency calls.
I have come to know that there might be a problem in the modem. I need to know how to install a modem. Do I need root access to do that or can I do it on my current stock condition phone? Plz help a noob and dont expect me to know the meanings of all the difficult words of android terminology

What BaseBand are you on?, and Android Version? (>>> Go to Settings>>>About Phone There you will see your BaseBand Info)
Sorry for the info on how to find out, if you already know, you never know just how "New", total noob is.....
Did you buy it New or Second Hand? Are you using an At&t sim, or somthing like Straight Talk? Also might be the Sim Card, try a different sim card.
It is also my understanding that you do infact have to be rooted to install a new modem, I would however try some basic things first like trying a new Sim Card.
If you do follow through with rooting be sure to read all you can about rooting in general, I will give you a link to how to do it in this thread, but make sure you read it, then read it again. I used this method three days ago, with no issues, it really could not get anymore simpler, there is also a step by step video.

Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
As long as the phones unlocked it should work internationally with the sims correct APN settings, the modem I sent you the link to is simply the stock modem for the at&t version SGH i317 unless I am mistaken, good luck wish I could help more

Mohammad,
I have the same problem using my phone in Egypt. I tried all modems and no improvement. I think this might be an issue with hardware. Did you fix your issue?

No you never flash another carrier/device MODEM! You'll end up with a big problem on your hands...
Just go to the one stop shop, and you'll find everything you need THERE!

I'm not sure if your using the same device, but if your on the latest modem then. You might want to try to change your apn settings!
And another way is to unlock your phone when you get to your destination then purchase a, SIM from there pop it in your phone. Bam done should get better service than roaming! If that's what you were on?

Help please...Corrupt IMEI, how to restore?

T889v, Wind Mobile. Flashed Wind Mobile 4.3 ROM+radio, then flashed TMobile radio again to try to improve reception since I am using TMobile here. Then the IMEI is corrupt(displays as Unknown) and no connection to service at all. Phone displays a floating yellow page with hardware information.
Flashed it again and again(4.3 or 4.1.2), it still like this. Bad part is, I have no backup of EFS folder at all, pretty desperate...
Anyway to get the IMEI back? Please help, thanks in advance!

You're in the same boat I'm in, you're basically stuck with a T-mobile note 2.
Flash a t-mobile modem and follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145967.
Good luck.
This may be fixed via kies.

Thanks! Tried this also, it puts my phone on latest ROM(4.3), but still no IMEI...
Bellow is the link to a thread in the international n2 g that I found to be very informational. Please note that the thread is NOT located in the T-mobile n2 section, so files and downloads in this thread are not intended for our phone. With that said, it does make for done interesting reading on IMEI's and hopefully it will bring you closer to solving your problem.

I realize that. The link was intended to be informational, in hopes that it could lead the op in the right direction. But perhaps I should have prefaced link with some general info... ill make an edit. Sorry for the confusion. Do you have any suggestions for the op you'd like to share?
The OP needs to write an NV items backup with one of the couple of compatible tools to do so, including the one linked there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804117 which is where you end up following the first reply's link.
Another one is EFS Professional: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308546
Last but not least are QPST and QXDM.
I won't be much help if he can't get his phone to talk to either of those programs.
Thanks for everyone's reply and suggestions! I've tried all of them and none of them worked, just as someone indicated, T889v from Wind Mobile is kind of special, once it's been like that, it's really hard to get it back. I sent to a service and now it's back to normal.
