So I was trying to unroot my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 and through my stupidity I have bricked it. I assume I forgot to wipe those all important caches.
Right now It hangs on the Samsung Logo, I can't get into recovery, but I can get into download mode.
I have been searching for a fix for the past couple of hours and all the recovery fixes require the phone to be able to boot which I can't do. I have tried to flash the Stock Rom a couple times and haven't been getting anywhere.
I am going to try what is suggested in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954245&page=3
but the download is taking a while.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Your best bet would be to post in the tmo section. This is the sprint section.
Wow two posts back to back that make me wna rip my hair out. First off, it still turns on. So, not a brick.
Go herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2031856 for the fix. And the s3's are pretty much identical. No reason to send ppl off to other sections if u know how to fix it.

Sorry for posting a new thread but I want to make sure I am heading in the right direction. I bought a Galaxy S3 yesterday that was rooted. I want to put it back to stock ROM. I downloaded Odin and the ATT Stock ROM's. Everything went ok and passed without fail, but my phone is stuck on boot. Googling around I found a how to where I could run CWM Recovery, but it seems like this is for rooted devices stuck at boot. I am looking to go back to stock. Will this work or is there something else I am missing? Thanks and I will begin searching on the forum for help.
Edit: My phone does go into dowload mode.

so dont worry you'll be fine as long as your able to go to download mode your phone is good
Heres how to restore to stock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypmqJbZqOaU
If you wanna root it again like a boss heres the link for that too:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoEVDgjTTdg
Great. Thanks for that link. I actually found that video and was looking for the drivers. I noticed the one he linked if for Sprint. My phone is ATT though. I clicked on the ATT link a little further down in his description where it says AT&T USA. I am assuming this is the correct file to install right? Now is that the TAR file or the drivers? He didnt post an AT&T link for one of those.
factory reset

It wont let me get into factory reset either. I hold power up, power and home and it goes to...
Firmware upgrade encountered and issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. I cant get into Kies because Kies doesnt connect to the device
Ok I followed QBkings video and everything worked fine and passed but I am still stuck on the Samsung screen. I know he mentioned factory reset but he did it once he was already into the actual phone. Mine wont get in.
You guys are all beasts! Thanks a million for the help. Factory reset finally worked! My phone didnt reset by itself though.
Well I see you must have been able to fix your phone!
It must be like the Atrix 2, but instead of FXZ restoration w/ RSD Lite, you use TAR files and Odin

Boot into recovery. Vol up + home + power. When your device vibrates and you see the blue text in the top left corner of the screen, release just the power button.
Wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache
So I recently rooted my phone with this tutorial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkkcCCjeUpI
Everything went great and I was rooted. So next I decided I wanted to flash a rom. So I decided this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1817345
I looked over it and followed its instructions. So I flashed it. I also flashed the google apps.
This is where the problems started. I rebooted my phone, and It never would show the boot logo. I kept pulling the battery and it would not start. I thought the battery might be dead so I charged it, and still nothing. I noticed when I plug it into my computer and it makes the little connection noise. (Like my computer is reconising the device) But still nothing on the screen. I tried to connect it to odin and it does not show the device.
So I have looked all over the internet (including these forums) and have found no help. Sounds like I might have bricked my device.
So my last question, If I did indeed brick my device will this fix it? (I mean will it atleast get it into download mode?)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Samsung...369526?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3a77c2f8b6
Please let me know if you have any ideas.
Thanks, Griffsbrown
Boot into recovery and restore the nandroid you made before you flashed.
Man sure sounds like most the people having problems are cause they are rooted/modded. Hope its a simple fix for you. GL.
You flashed a rom for a different phone, its dead pretty much. research jtag I read its about 60-100$ read more in the future.

You flashed a ROM for a different phone. That is why you can not boot. Are you able to get into download mode? from the power off state, press and hold the volume down and home bottons and the power button. This should bring you into download mode. IF you can get there then you should be able to recover.
always be careful when flashing roms if you can get into download mode like the above poster said then your lucky and can odin a root66 and you will be back to before you installed the wrong ROM.
If you cant ........... your bricked my friend time to learn a lot more about jtag (which is a lot more difficult than odin READ READ READ
The only thing is people have been installing ATT roms for some reason their phones are not bricking but unless the dev says it works i wont try it.
ONLY USE ROMS FOR YOUR PHONE im really new and one of the first things to know.
Bricked! Search for mobile tech videos jtag fix.

Hey everyone
I've got a Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190N and I've got a huge problem.
It first started out with me trying to root my phone, everything seemed to go well until i tried to turn my phone on, which resulted in it being stuck on the samsung logo, I snooped around the internet trying to find a solution and was recommended to reflash with different tar files but nothing worked. I tried to reset to factory settings through recovery mode but I couldn't even access the recovery mode. I then tried to get back to factory settings using Samsung Kies but after the whole installation it didn't seem to work either. I tried almost everything possible, I checked out every link on the first page of google relating to my problem yet nothing works. The only thing I can do is enter download mode and that's it.

Very different internals in your Galaxy S3 Mini compared to the tmobile galaxy s3 t999. Did you flash using the methods from this forum? If so youre using the wrong files. Head on over to s3 mini sub forum and see if you can get some answers there.

Yea that was for the original s3 varients not the mini. Spend some time over at the other forum and see what they have to say. Take it slow too! Its better to spend a day or two without a phone and getting it right then to rush a fix and end up ruining it!!
the fact that you can still enter download mode is good though. If kies still recognizes your phone when its in download mode then I think it will be an easy fix. Again though, research over on that subforum as it will be your best bet!
Ynt: [Q] Phone stuck on the Samsung logo and won't go into recovery
You can use Odin to flash another rom. I have been in the same situation and rooted with stock rom via odin and succeed.

Thanks for the new breath of hope! I thought this phone was completely done for. I'd gladly have no phone for a week or two as long as I get a fix for it.
I think we've all been in that situation before! I hard bricked my sprint s3 by flashing an internation rom...oops. there was no saving that one

Me too
yeah well i've got the same problem. I accidentally turn off my phone via removing the battery while its still on . Then after that , it's stuck on the samsung logo . What to do ?
Boot recovery and factory reset. (If it's stock recovery it will wipe your internal sdcard)
If that doesn't work Odin flash the stock firmware.

Go to ebay or one of the other websites, and buy a Samsung Jig. Plug it into your phone, and you'll get into download mode. Best $5.00 you'll ever spend.
Its not bricked.
Use Odin, search next time. This has been covered various amounts of times.

ya sorry man i did that right after i made the post, i kinda freaked out lol
ON 11/19/13 i was having problems with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 the wifi wouldnt work, couldnt get service on it and a list of other things. I was stock rooted with TWRP recovery before and flashed the stock MD4 with flashcount reset to take it back to Sprint so they can try to fix this which they did. After it was fixed I recieved it back and right after rooted it using the Samsung S3 Tool Kit. It was a success, but now my wifi, and bluetooth wouldnt work. So i was convinced to just not do anything and keep it stock and just wait till my next upgrade which is very soon. I did a factory reset and it booted me into the stock recovery and then i proceeded with the process. So as i was doing a factory reset it kept bring a TON of red error messages. NOTHING would mount, NOTHING would wipe, NOTHING happend. But in the end it said it said that it was a success. I was very confused to what was happening ive never seen anything like this. So i was very worried hoping it would boot back up like nothing happend, and thats exactly what happend. Nothing. All it did was boot up and stayed on the Samsung logo screen. The only thing i can do was boot into download mode and recovery. I then put my phone into DL MODE and downloaded the stock sprint rom from AdamLange and flashed it using Odin. That failed obviously. So I re-installed the CORRECT drivers, tried different USB cables and USB ports, and flashed again. That still didnt work. I then used the Samsung toolkit to unroot/unbrick my phone, that didnt work either. I read every forum related to this problem and beleive me i did, i stayed up all day and night trying to figure something out, trying to get information and re-did the process at least 2 times. I am on my last resort id never thought it ended up to me asking a question on here, i dont want to sound like an idiot but i am out of options...
Sorry i made this too long but id thought id put every single thing that i did to my phone that maybe i did wrong. Id appreciate it if anyone had any tips on what to do here, any feedback and any suggestions that can help me is appreciated, thank you.
See if THIS method works for you. Then you can start the process over.

Yes i tried this. That's what I use whenever I take it to Sprint for fixes. And also if i were to try it again it wouldn't mount my sd card or the internal memory, maybe flash it through Odin even if its a .zip file? My flash count is at 3, will sprint still be able to replace the devise or at least fix it? Thank you for the suggestion though.
