I upgraded my wife's ATT Captivate glide yesterday from stock Gingerbread to stock ICS 4.0.4, and after that some of the text messages she has received are received more than once (one came twice, another 5 times). I poked around in this forum to see if there was something about this with the stock released ROM, but I didn't find anything (if I missed it, please say so). Has anyone else seen this?
I also see this happening on my phone. It's gotten better since the latest official update from AT&T, but it's not completely gone. Not sure of this issue affects others who have any custom ROMs.

Okay, I have had ICS since the day it was launched, I updated it from Samsung kies. Ever since I've been having many problems with my phone, freezing, auto brightness, and not getting a notification of me receiving an e-mail. I was wondering what I can do to fix this, any help would be great.
Thank You XDA
Are you running a custom ROM and if you're not maybe you should consider on flashing one.

If youre not rooted use kies to make a backup, then do a factory wipe and restore from kies. If that doesnt fix it, and it likely wont, call tmo to complain. After an hour of running you through the ringer with their tech support they will refer you to samsung since they will claim your issue is new and they dont have anyone else reporting the same issue - and samsung will give you a replacement phone which will likely have the same issue.
There is no way i am speaking from experience...
That said Your best course of action imo is to root and use a custom GB rom.

I've been having three same issues since my update as well but to just get a have or more and be done with it.. The international versions that is.. Carriers ruin the experience with there bloat

Because I didn't see a post in the first couple pages (or at all, maybe no one is asking); which in my mind isn't enough. I know the answer is probably a no, but has there been a fix yet for the issues with Verizon's 2.3.4 update? If not, what are all my fellow CDMA users doing instead of using 2.3.4? I really would like to update so I can finally use the PSStore, but I'm not sacrificing my Gmail notifications.
I never updated from the OTA. I waited to see how It went. I am on stock 2.3.3 heavily modded. And I don't see VZ making another OTA for our phone to fix 2.3.4 seeing as how our phone is E.O.L (end of life) on my Verizon. Plus.. I other ota'ing to 2.3.3 I would never take another ota from VZ seeing as how slow and crap filled it is

Ya, I'm not expecting an OTA fix, but I was hoping maybe someone found the source of the problem and released some kind of patch or modified firmware.
Yeah to my knowledge all the 234 r800x roms have the bug

Interesting, well damn, I was thinking of going the route of using the UK rom, but if its present in all 2.3.4 for the Xperia Play then maybe I should stick with 2.3.3 and forget about ever having the PS Store...
Only in 234 for Verizon is there the bug

Oh, well in that case I guess I better go with a 2.3.4 rom or just make a thread for suggestions on which rom to go with if I want to use the PSStore...or just wait for JellyBean, as I hear JB>GB>ICS is the basic idea for firmware on the Play. If you (or anyone) has suggestions for which ROM to go with, please do share. I'll hold off on adding another thread for several hours.
I have tried a bunch of different roms and I always come back to my modified stock 2.3.3. Not saying there are not good roms out there... just saying for me stock felt the best after it removed all the crapware and made it the ay I wanted it.

Hey guys,
I was wondering if I can use the EL29 modem with ICS. I have had many issues with ICS and my phone, with the stock ROM and three other custom ROMs. I even had trouble with FH13 and FF18. I had many problems with my GPS not working and I had problems not receiving calls or being able to make calls.
I had to go back to GB in order to get my phone working. Which I like GB but I had to update to ICS to stop getting the annoying update notification.
Anyways, anyone else have this trouble. After talking to Sprint's super nerd tech support, I am 100% positive that my phone just hates anything but EL29.
You can use any modem you like on any build, whatever gets you the best results.

Thats good to know that I am not the only one. I would run GB still if it wasn't for the OTA update constantly spamming me to upgrade. No matter what I did it was either trying to download all the time killing my battery or it was telling me to install every ten minutes.

I upgraded my girlfriends captivate glide to ICS last night and everything went smoothly. However, this morning she tells me the keyboard backlighting no longer works. Anyone experience this and know of a solution?
there's several posts about this in the general section. here is a link to one of them, posted by bakageta

Check the Office ICS Rom thread in General:

Thanks for the link regarding the keyboard fix, it really works. Not difficult either. If a newbie like me can do it, anyone can

Yeah, I found out it was a known issue after posting this. Thanks for not ripping me a new one for not searching. I should know better.

Well most of the other posts were that issue existing in the leak. This is the official release and its pitiful that XDA members fixed it for us first and not Samsung.

i guess by now every SGS3 owner on att has heard about the touchwiz exploit.
I did the test you can find here :http://www.androidcentral.com/ussd-test
and my SGS3 stock rooted, build number IMM76D. I747UCALH9 dialer showed up blank.
central android forums says my phone is not vulnerable.
what about yours?
Stock rooted H9, also came up blank.
Using BlackCream ROM, and it came up with my IMEI. Is there anyway to patch this exploit, without re-installing a ROM?
Stock h9 rom, dialer came up blank here.

Yea.... people should read Gizmodo a little more often, too.

Samsung has been aware of it for a few months, and the latest firmware fixed it. So any ROM at least based off of that wouldn't have the vulnerability either.

Im on original stock, rooted and got the #06 whatever reply, so guess these phones are safe and this was blown out of proportion as usual. How convenient this came out at the sametime the iphone 5 was released ...
On Triune II and my stock dialer came up blank. All good here.
