First you have to have a Bluetooth capable device to begin. If you are trying to use a computer you should check for the capability first. If not, you can purchase a Bluetooth dongle from Amazon or something. Foxfi should work, although the actual app has been taken off of the play store for sprint users. You can however purchase the key (full version) from the play store. I don't know about ATT tho. If you vsn find the app online on 4shared or something, you should be good to go.
if you're rooted, why not just use the TrevE Mod WiFi Tether. I assume WiFi connect works for Parrot Astroid. It's not hard to setup and easy to use; I'm assuming you are moderately tech savvy since you were able to root.

So i've installed the said addon, including files and i can connect to "android tether" and phone vibrates etc... However it says local access only on the pc, i can't get internet. Does anyone have any tips on what i may be doing wrong? Should i not update to the newest files if i am going to run tether or is it all compatible now? I've tried both ways with no luck, i must be doing something wrong...
Touch pro 2, Sprint
I only now make a thread because i've asked a bunch and no answers in the mega thread
You might not be getting any answers because this is the TP1 sub-fora. There's a whole section for the TP2 dude.
Not sure what the status of tethering on the TP2 is, but I recommend you go over there!!!!
I actually got it working, with an aosp version. man seems faster than regular windows. now if only it didn't break all internet when i try to reset my data ;p
Ok, I've looked through the web, and can't seem to find anything to solve my problem. I've got CyanogenMod 7 on my Wildfire, and decided to reverse tether it via USB cos I'm 15 and don't really have the money for a data plan (yes, even Three's All-In-One 15). I got the app for it off the market, and after following the guide for it, it worked. Once. After that, it's only very rarely managed to get past the "USB tethered" or the "Desired IP part. I've tried loads of stuff that, in the end, hasn't worked. Would be happy if all you guys could help
PS: Yes, I do have the other reverse-tethering usb-tunnel thing as well. However, a lot of apps think they have no connection when it's used. Which is why I want to use this app.
I have a fair amount of searching and not found a workable solution. I personally don't use it but the wife refuses to use anything but VZ Navigator. Problem is as I understand it rooted roms don't contain certain GPS-related files required for VZ Navigator to work. I believe it has something to do with aGPS drivers. Does anyone know how to get it to work on a rooted Inc 2? As a corollary question if I do get it to get work will I thus have f'd up Google Maps/Nav/GPS?
Thanks.

Google navigation is free and works rooted or not. I know that's not the answer you are looking for, but it beats the hassle to get VZ Navigator to work.
I totally agree which is why I don't bother myself with VZ Navigator.....but the more important hassle to me is trying to explain AGAIN to my wife why VZ Navigator doesn't work and how to use Google Nav. She's not particularly tech-savvy. (e.g. wireless router = "that Netgear white box thingy")
Have you tried GPS Status & Toolbox from the Play Store? Free app that I used to use on my D3, which had absolutely terrible GPS in my opinion. It can download aGPS data.
Smack a ***** and show her Google maps/navigation.
I've been doing a ton of research and I want to know what the status is of using the Nexus 7 (2013) as a hands free device. I've seen some discussion about BlueZ, adding bluetooth profiles, using hands free kits, mic input from DACs, etc. but nothing really that recent. I'm hoping that there has been some development in this area with 5.1.1. The goal is to have the call audio go to the car speakers and maybe have an external mic for the audio in.
How are others doing it and what is the current accepted way to accomplish this? Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm starting to build my system and this is one of the last things I need to figure out.
I have the cellular version Nexus 7 if there's a way I can use that to send/place calls from the same number with a second SIM or something.
you can setup the nexus through auxiliary so that audio goes through the car speakers, and if your really picky about what kind of sounds go through your car speakers or the nexus speakers you can use an app like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix&hl=en
For making calls and such from a different device you should use an app like Mysms https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mysms.android.sms&hl=en
It allows texting from any device using your phone by sending the info through wifi or bluetooth to your phone. It can also route calls from your phone to what ever device you want allowing you to answer with your tablet (with mysms this requires paid version, but there are likely other apps out there).

The issue is that I'm replacing the head unit with the Nexus. I have Tablet talk which allows me to answer calls on m phone from the tablet, but the audio goes over the phone. I want to be able to answer the phone call on the tablet and have the tablet handle the audio. I've seen other threads about this and I've searched, but I haven't seen anything that are very recent. The best 'solution' I saw was implementing the BlueZ bluetooth stack to provide the required profiles, but I find their instructions confusing and it doesn't seem like anyone has attempted to get it working even though many people are looking for a solution to this.
Does anyone have any experience with implementing BlueZ on 5.1.1?
ok, your saying the app requires you to still use your phone to complete a phone call.
Using google voice setup and hangouts. Using this setup is the best I can think of. You can setup your current phone number I believe to work with google voice. Then just setup your phone to tether to your tablet.
Im fairly certain google hangouts can use your cellular service to place the calls and text, but if you have no service but have data/wifi it can use those, but im not 100% sure on that.
EDIT: I should clarify, google hangouts/voice works to make calls/texts/videocalls over wifi on any smart device without cell service. By using your own number your tablet will be able to make calls/texts/videocalls all from your number, all you need is data connection/wifi. I have not tried using hangouts over cell service without data, never had a need.

Did you find something. Sometimes I have the impression that some people just can't understand a simple English sentence, like arolust.

Nah, I gave up - I got no support so I just broke down and got the MotorMouth 2.
But if someone were to figure it out I'd like to know the solution so I can have a single device act as my HU.
I'm working on a solution. Bluez lets you build AOSP for Nexus 7 2013 and it has HFP support. I will tell you if I did something. It really looks like no one is willing to help on this area. I searched a lot, but just peaces.

I just got a new xperia play from hong kong. Its a R800A and its connected to koodo. The only issue is the fact that I can go on the browser but almost every site is blocked/cannot be connected. This is the same situation with every other internet app especially the preinstalled ones like Market. No matter what I do it says something like "Cannot Connect to Servers, Please try again later" It has me so upset and no matter where I go on the internet there is not a single person who can help so I'm making this report and hoping someone can help me.
To speed things up I live in Canada and I can call and text without issue. But when I go to the internet I can't do anything.
Thank you for reading if you have any information on what i can do or what will help please reply and help me
I just bought a used R800X and was wondering the same thing - Wifi doesn't work anywhere except for the stock browser. After some searching apparently Google Play Services support for Android versions under 4.0 was killed off earlier this year.
So if your Xplay is still on 2.3, you won't be able to use the Market or pretty much any app that uses Google Services. You can still sideload apps that you've backed up with Titanium on another device or just install some APKs from the net. If you really can't live without Google Services look into getting a custom ROM based on 4.0+.
My R800X has some dumb issues in regards to the bootloader so ROMs are pretty much out of the question for me, but I was still able to get it rooted and install a bunch of emulators. Hopefully you have better luck. Cheers mate!

Thank you! thankfully I'm bit of a nerd so I went online and force updated the app store to the latest version and now I can get basic apps. Down side is that it keeps breaking and crashing every few minutes so I'm going to uninstall most of the unnecessary apps and see if that will help fix most of the issues with crashing. Also the fact that most of them are always running in the background doesn't help xD.
I also have planes to overclock using my sd card. like take some of the memory to boost my phones power
I had a bit of the same but I managed to get it rooted and my bootloader is unlocked. Thing is most links (like it has been said) has been killed off. But I need a custom rom for the phone...it’s getting me really mad. Suggestions? Help? Please?
For custom ROMs, it's gonna be a crapshoot going through all of the threads and looking for links that are still hosted online somewhere. /u/ TheNameBrand had some success with installing CM9 recently, but ran into wifi issues or something. Here's the link if you're still interested: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024782
If you end up sticking with stock and don't have the Market/Play Store running, you can download the latest 2.3 compatible version of the Play Store here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...-2-02-release/
