What he said. As far as touchwiz goes, TDJ's Darkside Evolution blows the others away and CM10 is what it is. Super stable and Jelly Bean.

I would have to say, the stock Koodo 4.0.4 ROM. It's the only ROM that I'm able to flash on my phone through Odin that is completely clean of anything custom.
Helps when trying to troubleshoot installing custom ROMs with pretty much a clean slate on the phone. Cheers!

Hehe nice to meet a fellow O1 owner. I came from the Optimus One P500.
Oh, this phone can run on Skyrocket ROMs. Just flash a rotation fix and bam.
On topic, I think I prefer the CM10 nightlies as I keep going back to them over and over. However, I'm starting to use the Touchwiz 4.1.2 UCLL3 leak for the skyrocket. And also the stock Koodo ROM mentioned above was alwaysy previous choice. I still want to go back to it because its clean, no bloat at all.
Enjoy your stay!

wow good news. I didn't know we can run skyrocket rom
what is d2tmo? I thought that is for galaxy SIII ? as I am reading in liquidsmooth dev thread
I like vanilla aosp experience but I will not disregard stock samsung touchwiz rom either
I consider stock samsung rom as vanilla experience in it's own world
now that you mention 4.1.2 leak from skyrocket I may try that if it stable.
on second thought maybe I stay with koodo rom
I still got a lot to read in this whole new phone...

You are correct about 'd2tmo' being a GS3 ROM. Whatever you do, DO NOT FLASH IT! There are already enough posts on here with a person saying they 'bricked' their phone.
If you are still planning to flash a custom ROM, my recommendation would be trying one of the All-Star Devs ROMs. There are too many ROMs to link, but if you search up for threads created by Tmogalaxys2 or android88 in the 'Development Section' you will find any of the Team's ROMs.
Hitting the image on the right of my signature will also lead you to one of the ROMs. Good luck!

D2tmo is s3
Make sure you read and flash for Hercules aka s2

so the different between liquidsmooth and liquidsmooth all star is:
-Android 4.2 themed
-Android 4.2 launcher
-4.2 clock
-4.2 fonts
-4.2 keyboard
-4.2 boot animation
-Many build.prop tweaks for better performance
-Pimp my ROM tweaks
-Seeder Script
-Velocity Tweaks
-AC!D Audio
-Xloud
-Bravia Engine
-Nibbles Kernel
-A lot more!
is it possible to mount internal SD card in CWM? if so which version of CWM?
I don't have micro SD card

Correct, the All-Star version is basically the same as the official Liquid Smooth ROM with extra features. If you are asking your question in regards to flashing the ROM through internal memory, yes, it is possible. Just place the ROM files on the root of your phone.
Also, rather than using CWM recover it is recommended to install and use TWRP 2.3.3.0 on your phone as it is a more up to date recovery system.

If I understand you correctly, you want access to settings through the 'notification bar'? Almost all custom ROMs now should have an option to add "Power Widgets" in the notification for quick access to certain settings if that's what you're looking for.

@corwest: Oops! Didn't mean to hit "thanks", so have a free one on me!
To the OP, I keep going back to PACman rom. In my opinion it is the best of cm10, AOKP and ParanoidAndroid, though going through the settings can be a little confusing to a newbie since AOKP's Rom Control and CM10 seem to redouble some of each others settings including toggles in the notification drawer (you will notice two sets of toggles active when you first boot the rom). That's the only problem I have with it. (Isn't it great when you can complain about having too many options?)

Kooodo stock rom that I have customized a tiny bit (deodexed with a couple simple mods). Its fast, stable, and has great battery

I always go back to darthstalker version 4. Favorite rom so far, only feature i really wanna keep that no other rom(touchwiz roms) has (maybe i'm wrong) is the ability to record phone calls, and the crt effect. I love touchwiz from the s3.

[Q] Custom ROMS from recent ICS rollout?

I've gotten the ICS update pushed from Tmobile/Samsung (via Kies), wiped, rooted, removed all the bloatware (wow - lots). Now I want a nicer ICS-based ROM compatible with the new firmware.
Questions:
1) What are people using now, other than stock on top of the new ICS firmware?
2) When will Juggernaut be updated (I -love- Juggernaut)?
3) Shall we give up on CM, or is there soon to be a stable release?

There is. Try Darside Venom. Or Infamous ROM
Darkside venom is the most stable for me plus the battery is very good too!

Sounds like Darkside Venom is the solution.
Anyone have any intel about whether there will be a new release out soon, or if I should just install today?
Great if they'll have a fix for the hanging shutdown bug (noted on their forum page).

I THINK ...I'm probably wrong here, but we can flash those roos in addition to some fixes like modem, rotation fix, etc....
Again, I THINK .
I hope this is the case because I really want to try paranoid from but it ha sent been developed for our device yet.
I'm running darkside v4 and I have to tell you, this is the best rom other at the moment. No bugs, fast, smooth, AMAZING BATTERY LIFE and just pure genius. Lol slap apex launcher on it and you have a pure ics experience. I also love juggernaut and was my rom before upgrading, so far no word on updating it. Go with DARKSIDE, trust me.

AOKP and CM are both more or less stable now. They got rid of the voice bug. Definitely stable enough for a DD. You won't find anything smoother either. I've been using AOKP, but might try out CM9 one of these days.
Battery on both beats anything that is non aosp.

Currently best JB ROM (CM10 feautres-like)?

I know I'm probably gonna get some flak for this, but I'm not big on flashing new ROMS everyday. I'm using CM9 RC1 and rather than flashing RC2, I'd rather try something with Jellybean. I've tried both CM9 and AOKP build 40, and frankly felt more comfortable with CM9, I don't like some things in AOKP (like the huge notifications toggle, compared to the not so intrusive CM9 notification toggle).
So here's the question:
As of now, which is the best Jellybean ROM out there, incorporating the kind of features you'd expect from a CyanogenMod rom?
I had my eye in Jellybro and Paranoid, but would like to hear more from other users before plunging.
Thanks!
PS: Oh, I have GSM GNex

I don't think I know of any ROMs like CM10 just the CM10 Alpha builds and the only one I have seen so far that is only CM10 is Kang's JellyBro but be warned that these CM10 ROMs are Alpha builds meaning that a lot of things are going to be broken and you will be flashing an updates about once a week as they fix new bugs. Of course you don't have to flash the updates that often but you will probably want to get the increased functionality with each update.

I completely agree. It's an awesome ROM. This coming from a person who had never unlocked, rooted, or flashed a ROM on the Nexus. It's very stable and rocks!
Also Iceandfire updates are frequent.
Swapped from Jelly Belly to AOKP JB preview and loving it, it's much more stable. As far as the notif toggles in AOKP.. You can easily change them to your liking in ROM Control, I don't like the big "switch" style toggles either.
total noob here, read 100,s of post and just really have two questions .if I use the toolkit and make recovery, root and unlock boot loader then down.load something like the paranoidandroid Rom an flash that on I'm good to go? an question two in the toolkit I seen the couple different back ups ,does any of them restore like contact photos an other customizations I've had before hand and if so do I just wait til I have th paranoid up and running and follow toolkit steps to restore ?thank you much

Well you can either create a nandroid backup through recovery or you can use Titanium Backup and then make sure when you back up you back up contact storage and restore contact storage. Doing either method will backup and restore all your contacts as they were. The same can be done for backing up and restoring text messages except you back up the phone/messaging storage in Titanium Backup.

whats the most stable JB ROM?

hi,
i know asking what rom is better is not a good questions as it is different for different people. However, I just want to know what is the most stable, so once I flash it i dont need to keep re flashing.
I am ussualy a fan of CM and when they get stable releases I flash them and then dont need to think about it anymore. on my previous samsung galaxy S I used the CM9 RC for a long time until the stable CM9 came out and then used that.
currently there is not stable CM10 and when it comes out I will probaby use it perminently.
What JB rom can i install that will be stable to use for the next months until CM10 stable comes out?
im using stock JB right now.

Rasbeanjelly. Its the cleanest rom ever. Fast, amazing battery life and the latest aosp source. Also the nee binaries from jro03R. You should try it. It has the power widget, lockscreen targets and some more mods. If you dont like all the blue of the icons, simply flash modstorms white mod. Flash the rom + trinity/franco. The outcome is awesome performance, no slowdowns, everything just works. No reboots and sh!t. I highly recommend it.

You've already got the most stable Jelly Bean software then
stock, are you jellin, cm10.
after those you get into roms with more features and and there tends to be little bugs that sometimes go along with them.
Nothing against the others Ive had good experiences on alot of roms but as for the MOST stable these in my opinion would be them.
Stock ROM.
Beamed from my Grouper.
ok looking into BAMF and rasbeanjelly.
another question that could help me dicide between the two. do either have the possibility to upgrade the rom on the device without a computer. so when i install it i can always have the latest version without having to keep resetting to factory settigns and wiping all the data and cache

What the most stable AOSP rom?And few more questions

I havent been on here for a while and currently on MOAR rom, i love it but i been having wifi issues with it. My wifi disconnects every hour or so, so i cant download things.
Im thinking about flashing CM/AOSP rom but would like to know which is most stable and if i can use Morphology with CM/AOSP roms.Or is there any barebone stable Twiz roms that i can use Morphology with.
Thanx in advance.
Oh, and what is AIO Aroma? Is this Aroma installer for AOSP roms? And does it have theming like morphology?
There is no "most stable [type here] rom", they're all good
But generally its a good idea to stay on builds up to the latest official version (aka 4.1.2), because anything above that will be prone to issues
Aroma installer is like an installer customizer for android...it let's the dev give you options about how to install it, what to install, etc. And no, it's not restricted to AOSP roms, it can be added to any flashable zip (rom, mod, theme, etc)
AIO just means all in one
Its not the MOAR ROM I'm on it w no WiFi issues, i think flashing another ROM will not fix your issue. I can't remember if 2.3 MOAR came with the connection optimizer or not. If it did make sure you disable it.

Honestly, I can't say, it just depends on what you're looking for. If maximum stability is a must, then the old CM would do the trick . I would just recommend going through the last couple pages for LiquidSmooth to get a sense for any bugs that have been fixed or are still present
Liquid Smooth is awesome, as well as DeviantXone.

In my opinion, as of late, most AOSP ROMs will lock up your phone or won't run smoothly.
Go with older builds that don't include the 3.4 kernel. All run smooth.
I ported Pure AOSP ROM if your looking for something no bells no whistles just Google its like a Galaxy Nexus for our SGS3

Best kernel+ROM combo for my AT&T Galaxy S3

Recently i got the AT&T SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 I747 STOCK JELLY BEAN ON 4.1.1 from GALASXY S2 SKYROCKET (at&t) also but i need the best combo (kernel+ROM) but its hard to find one
here is what am looking for:-
- good, stable DATA/MOBILE NETWORK CONNECTION (MUST HAVE) IMPORTANT
- bloatware free
- fast/overclocking
- easy/not too complex that will fup my phone
- anything that i have not mentioned is relevant too
- other great features like Bravia engine, goo manager, extra features that make it more awsome
- cyanogenmod stable qualities (bug free) sleek, smooth, fast UI and transitions
any kind of idea is valid, open to every suggestion
If you are looking for a touchwiz ROM, go try S3Rx. If you are looking for a pure android based ROM, go for Task's AOKP. I think those are some of if not the best Roms of their kind.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
That's for you to experiment and decide not everyone has the same experience on a rom.
Just make a backup of your current setup and start flashing away.
Trial and error.
I may be new here but I know enough, To tell you no one is going to answer your question. A Rom that works for one person is not necessarily the same Rom that will work for another. Flashing Rom's is about hopefully stability, if your lucky speed and battery life, but most importantly about customization. I just started flashing Roms and am still looking for the one I want. I'm sure as soon as I find it a new release will come out and I will get to start over again. As for Kernels I am not comfortable enough to delve into that yet...Good luck...

Best S3, non touchwiz ROM I have found is SlimBean. Not as flashy as some but rock solid/stable with the best battery life I have found so far. Like CM, it is backed by team of devs versus some roms that just have chefs that mix/match/blend features together.
i have been on that PATH as in trying different ROMS but once i tried several i completely fup my DATA/mobile network, i would text and call but my internet (not to be confused with WIFI) stopped working and yu know as a tech savvy guy yu gotta try everything little trick yu know to fix it but there was nothing
forced to use wifi until the day i bought the AT&T S3 and i have my data internet connection working again
i need a ROM that doesnt leave me with no DATA CONNECTION
restoring from nandroid backups helps and sometimes it might not work , other than CM which other ROMS THAT CAN KEEP UP WITH MY DATA CONNECTION

I'm sure as soon as I find it a new release will come out and I will get to start over again. As for Kernels I am not comfortable enough to delve into that yet...Good luck...

Glad to here it. I have not been brave enough to get into kernel flashing yet. Can you tell me was it a simple flash? How do you revert back to a stock kernel? I here there is a lot of tweaking to do with some kernels? Was Ziggy's pre-set?

You just flash it the same way you do with a ROM. Remember you wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing the kernel and if you dirty flash roms, you have to reflash the kernel each time because the stock kernel overwrites it. You revert back to stock kernel by flashing the ROM again or finding the kernel zip and flashing it separately. You can undervolt and overclock with a different kernel that allows it.
