we need more custom roms for the tmobile galaxy s3...
anyone else agree?

Start making some! Go around to other phone forums and start asking them to dev for us. Start giving out massive donations?

only a couple months into it... i think we have good roms.. free sonic, crimson, dj intrigue, stable 9.1, wicked rom, couple of others..
but of course more is always better.. soon

it's the most popular phone out right now(blew away even the iphone in terms of just sales). trust us, there'll be a huge rom selection. just give the developers some time. they do it for free during their spare time for our benefit, and only ask for donations.

I agree, actually, I think the hold up is jelly bean is fixing to be released and many devs are waiting for that, they don't want to spend alot of time on these older roms, frankly, I am waiting with serious anticipation Although CM10 is looking real good.

cm10 cyanogen,.aokp ics & jb , paranoidandroid jellybro ,free gs3 , high on android ,wicked ir blue & red, noble 9.1 , intrigue rom

I think we need more variety, most of our ROMS are just tweaked stock ROMS with ugly, terrible themes. Everything else is CM10 or CM9 stuff. It would be nice to see some MIUI, Sense, FlymeOS or even just completely stock AOSP roms.

AOSP roms are stock cm9 and cm10... Sense and stuff would be nice, and there was a team working on it in the sprint section and they just died out, MIUI is reported to be in the works still... and don't call the themes people give you as an option "ugly" cause they work hard to get you something to flash, it isn't cool of you to just call them ugly and terrible lol.

We don't NEED roms! Fortunately our phone works very well on stock rom. I am all for custom roms and can't wait for miui and hopefully a sense Rom. Our phone is brand new just give it some time.
I also agree it's bad taste to call peoples work ugly. You don't like the themes don't flash em. Me personally I live the wicked red theme. Because I can't dev I can't make roms and what not so I am extra appreciative. Its not like people are getting paid to do it

Hey now, you can still be grateful and still have an opinion. For example, I appreciate the work put in on the Intrigue Rom, but I still find the icons to be in bad taste (some icons aren't meant to be blue IMO). That's just my opinion.

Have you tried the miui home launcher? It's cool and all but I noticed too much lag. I also like to use launchers ontop of miui to complete what ever theme I am using at the time

Yeah I've used launcher and noticed a lot of lag too. But my friend has an international gs3 and has miui on it and its pretty smooth. I just hope its the same on our device.

It kinda is like that. Touchwiz has many aosp functions, but I agree. A touchwiz like aokp would rock!

There is a rom available that is AOSP like , but based on TW. Check dev thread, I think its by TJohnson.

it will never happen on CM 10 as they are open source. Most the TW gimmicks are closed source. Doubt they are gonna waste time to reverse engineer something that really adds very little to the experience

I disagree. There was a cm8 sense hybrid ROM developed awhile back for the EVO I believe. It was essentially a sense rom with cm settings. It was quite nice.

CM8 never happened

Only my 2nd day on this phone, but the new TW did learn a few lessons from CM. If you can get your hands on a deodex stock, its just a matter of flashing a theme and using a few apps instead of having the built in customization options. Not the same as CM, but better than than the gs2.

how come, hes right you know they never released 8 because source wasnt released until the same time it was for ics so they just skipped it and went straight to 9

Well they make MIUI based on TW for the international GS3... Kinda the same idea. Mainly im sure most ppl like the Samsung camera and other stock goodies...

MIUI is based on AOSP as well, I believe. It is not based on TW. The original Evo had a custom rom called Valpak that was a "Senseless" rom. The dev (I think his name was Vaelek) took the Sense based rom from HTC and stripped out all the extra fluff, replaced most of the design elements with with the AOSP "look", and tweaked the performance. Dude wasn't just theming, he really made an awesome rom that ran beautifully. And because he started with a Sense base, there was no loss of hardware performance or bugs (that you usually might have with AOSP, especially if "source" hasn't been released by the OEM).
Anyhow, there was something like that for this phone as well, but I never tried it. If people want a TW+AOSP combination, I would recommend running the leaked JB rom (thanks Freeza and leaker) with Nova Launcher, select the JB theme.

Oh right, it must've been CM7. I totally forgot about the HC business. Anyhow, the ROM existed on the EVO though I believe it was ported from the incredible.

Thanks I did not know that. I'll have to give that a try if it ever comes to this phone.

Skyraider is the name of the ROM I was thinking of. It is a Sense CM7 hybrid- based on Sense but with CM7 settings incorporated. The link is here: http://www.teambamf.net/topic/5-rom-skyraider-sense-43-updated-71811/ If this can be done I don't see why a TW/CM10 hybrid wouldn't be possible.

I remember a while back that this one guy from the at&t, I think, forumswas asking some of us to test a touchwiz aokp hybrid. It was a while ago though, not sure what became of it.

No, that is a TouchWiz element and can't be ported to an AOSP ROM. Unfortunately as that's part of the AndroidOS, you'll need to choose a TW based ROM if you want that notification bar.

Unfortunately I can't give an opinion because I only flash AOSP based ROMs. I much more like the pure android experience than mfg based ROMs.
I would do what the post above me suggests and look in the Dev forums. There are a ton of great ROMs out there you just gotta find one that suits your needs. =)

No problem at all =) I am currently running this ROM as well, and love all of the features it uses. My battery life is also amazing, got 13 hours yesterday and still had 20% left when I plugged it back in for the night =)

Its based on LJ7 which is touchwiz. So yes morons should work.

I think I'll give this one a shot as I prefer the stock look over the cartoony look of touchwiz although I'm on jellybomb which takes that away.
Is there a stable bug free 4.2 rom or a 4.1.2 rom that has touchwiz features and has the vanilla android? How stable are the cm10.1 nighties? I'd like to be up to date though instead of waiting for sprint to roll it out which takes 50 years.

No 4.2 rom at this time will be bug free. As no actual 4.2 has been released on any of the US variants of the s3. The ROMs I personally like are freezes pure stock ROMs which are constantly updated and just pure stock, gruesome wolf's rom (forgot it's name), the peoples ROM if you like themed, and my personal favorite is free gs3 by team sonic. I'm not currently running it because it hasn't gotten an update since December. But hopefully it should soon. It's a stockish rom with nice extra features built in.

[Q] different ROMs for the I747

hey everyone
recently I have been looking for a ROM with a different look than the stock aosp and touchwiz feel. I have been using MIUI V5 for a little bit and I liked the change. but I want something different. I love the look and feel of Ubuntu, but the stability is not there yet for most phones.
so what I am asking is does anyone have any ROMs that are different than aosp, touchwiz or MIUI for the i747.

I know you said "other than aosp...", but have you tried Task650's AOKP? Super customization at it's finest. Also Bajees RootBox is sick. If you want the most in functionality and customization, I suggest you head in the direction of AOKP based stuff.

Look into Avatar Rom or Chameleon OS (I recommend the later). They are AOSP roms that add the theme engine and functionality of MIUI. Beyond this new launcher set ups (Buzz Launcher will help you with that) are the way to go.

Buzz Launcher is AMAZING! It really is and I am using it as we speak while running task650 ota AOKP ROM which I have been running on and off for the past 5 months!
do you guys know of any ROMs that aren't touchwiz/aosp/miui? I've been looking hard and I have not found any stable ones! i am super excited for Ubuntu phone for android but I am going to have to wait for a stable one.

Honestly, the only AOSP/AOKP roms I will run are Task's and RootBox.

Just installed Avatar Rom and loving it. Great themes ability and so far very stable.

Sure there is, actually there is only ONE launcher which is totally different than all Touchwiz or aosp/aokp/miui launchers.
It's called "LMT Pie Launcher", it looks and works totally different than any other available launchers.
Personally I really do not like it at all, but if you want something totally different give it a try.
There are a lot of interesting Youtube videos which give a lot of useful information about it.
