Help w/ random reboots - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi all
I can't seem to figure this out
I passed down my gnex to the wife as I got a n4
Now when i had it there were no issues of random reboots
I have cm10 nightly loaded on it with the cm kernel and its getting random reboots
I cannot find out what it is... I have tried different kernels and still the same issue... I have tried diff ROMs. I tried fitsnugly cm10 and same issue,,.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do... I've tried everything I can think of
Its random as in it happens sometimes when she is browsing or it will jut be sitting on on the table and then reboot without anyone touching it...
Ugh. Help

I would put the last stable release on there, unless u don't mind working on her phone..
Do u format system in recovery when u install and new ROM?
Or maybe install ur nandroid backup and c if that works

Yup
I did a full wipe in recovery before giving it to her.
Actually what had happened is I wiped everything including SD card and it wouldn't boot so i restored to stock via Odin and toolkit. Then started from scratch. Installed fitsnugly ROM etc

Try a different ROM away from cm. Like aokp or paranoid and see if u have the same issues on those.

A full wipe doesn't format system.. U need to go into where u can mount the partitions and format the system partition.. Its worth a shot.. And I'd do a nandroid restore and leave it stock, from my experience my wifey doesn't know how to use any of the extra mods that come with the ROMs anyways, and its just a disaster waiting to happen... But that's just me

What kernel u running?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2

Well wouldn't restoring stock with Odin wipe literally everything? Including partition?
And the current ROM and kernel is stock cm10.1
So whatever the latest nightly is.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk HD

Not sure if it does.. I don't use Odin.. If u do a nandroid restore and see if its still doing random reboots ull know if its a hw problem or ROM/kernel

I tried 2 different rooms already...
Tomorrow I can try to download on my PC since tonight I did using my phone but I really don't think that's the issue.

If that doesn't work.. I would suggest you Odin back to stock and repartition. Reroot and try and flash it with a fresh download. This may solve your issue.

I got stuck in a boot loop as well coming from beta 2 to 3... the CM9 boot screen would just keeping running and the phone would vibrate every minute or so.
I believe it was because I didn't uninstall cpu voltage before I flashed.
Wiping data and then installing beta 3 on a fresh slate worked fine for me... Didnt have to odin.

Ok. Download ROM manager and use it to install regular cwm recovery.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
I would use the non touch recovery and wipe cache, wipe data, wipe systeam, then flash super wipe. Install ROM, then flash the cache wipe.zip I posted. reboot and let us know.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Also if you have an external , put the ROM you want to flash on the external sd.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
Go into mounts and storage and format /system /data and cache wipe dalvik factory reset and flash this rom
http://theunlockr.com/2011/11/29/how-to-unroot-the-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-t-mobile-version/
After you flash that you have to re root your device use regular cwm not touch and then flash whatever rom you want

SORRY man cant do that. I worked really hard to earn this cell phone and wont let it go for free. I bought it for a full price off the contract and don't think will be donating it. I am pretty sure people will be able to help me here. Its not like the phone is dead. Its working except for a few disruptions. Besides people are offering me $450 even in such a condition.

That's how 99% of users flash kernels anyways. I usually do as that gives me a zip on my phone to flash back to a different kernel in case of emergency.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
and why is this on general?
seriously if u needed to start a thread for this question u shouldnt be flashing

While I agree with why this is here LOL, just find a kernel using the XDA App from the market, go to the beginning of the thread to find download link, then reboot recovery and flash new kernel you just downloaded. Make sure you wipe cache and davlik before flashing. Good Luck.

HTC One V fails to complete a factory reset in TWRP recovery

I'm the type that likes to ALWAYS do a clean Rom install by wiping EVERYTHING. I've tried looking through the forums but cannot find a decent answer as to why my Virgin Mobile One V fails to perform a full factory reset immediately after swiping to confirm. All that displays is "make_extf4fs" and "FAILED" highlighted in red at the top of the screen. I tried every troubleshooting step recommended to me but still nothing seems to fix this issue and without a solution I cannot do a clean install of my roms that I normally do. What should I do? If anyone has a reliable solution please do help me out. I would greatly appreciate it.

It has been brought up in a thread here and I've been told not to worry about it and that it wont affect anything but in my opinion it does so i found a full wipe flashable zip that i use along with the other wipes. Let me know if u want and ill upload it and u can have it
Sent from my One V using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
It does affect because after it continued to fail I attempted to flash my Rom anyways and all it did was constantly reboot my phone so I had no choice but to go back to stock and reboot but am stuck with the same TWRP issue so if you can provide me with a wipe flashable zip that will do the same wipe procedure please do. Thank you very much.

Read the log on the screen. It is trying to wipe an sd-ext partition. If you haven't partitioned your SD card, then it will give you that error. It is still performing a full wipe of the other partitions.
Sorry if this is a noob question but this is my first time experiencing this issue so how exactly would I check to see if the sd card is partitioned? I assumed it would automatically be that way after flashing the recovery. It's always been that way up until now.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
It's looking for a second ext partition on your card. This is used by various app2sd scripts (such as link2sd) to fool the phone into thinking the apps are installed on internal phone memory instead the normal android way. If you haven't partitioned it yourself, then don't worry about the error message. It's just letting you know it didn't find the second partition.
Oh OK so besides that a full factory reset is still being made? Because I thought that was the cause of my roms not working properly.

They say it does but over time if he experience is any thing like mine i started having lags and even had a couple installs were apps that i her on pervious ROM were then on the new ROM when i first booted it
Sent from my One V using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Idk.. After that first experience with my last Rom I'm kind of afraid to flash anything else after wiping everything due to it failing on a factory reset. I need to know if it TRULY is safe.

[Q] CARBON

Just installed this Carbon ROM on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus device and the load screen has been trying to start up for about 10 mins. any idea what could be going on and how I can fix this. Or is this normal for a new ROM to take so long to open?

Clean install. May need to flash binaries if trying to use 4.2.2 kernel.

Thanks man! I actually found a very primitive way of doing it and my phone is working and looks absolutely gorgeous (but don't tell my girl I said that). I basically forced the gapps.zip file into my downloads from my computer into my phone and it fixed the issue. No harm no foul. Thanks y'all:good: !
