(MAC) Root Help if you need it! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I am doing this on my Note 2 so I'll make a more detailed one tomorrow.
Troubles rooting on my MAC? Here is the method that worked for me: http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-2-on-mac-osx/
***MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW NEXT DIRECTIONS***
When you are in terminal mode with the Note 2 connected (after vol down, centre button and power button pressed and awaiting upload) — REMOVE THE BATTERY before uploading anything. The USB will power the device. Then pressing the command for heimdall upload, and it will begin the upload process. Once it hits 100% it attempts to restart. This process requires battery power but you have already removed the battery and the phone switches…..OFF! Then put the battery back in and immediately press volume UP, centre button and power button until you see the restart of Galaxy Note 2 and let it boot into CWM mode. Sorted mate!!!
Choose the rooting file from the external SD card and reboot. It should now be ROOTED! Good luck !
Note 2. Note 2. Note 2. I have a Note 2. Note 2. Note 2. Note 2. Did I mention I have a Note 2. This is being typed and submitted on a Note 2. Note 2. Note 2.

Just use the exynosexploit app. One step process
swyped all these spelling errors from my galaxy note 2

What's easiest way to unlock boot loader if I used exynos apk?

Oh no.... my gio is Hard brick
How to fix it
(sorry for my bad english)
Ok. Try to pull your battery out for some minutes. If this isn't working i think the only solution is the way to the service. This can be solved with jtag. I had simillar problem with a friend's galaxy mini and going to service was the only solution.
try this from your computer:
1. Prepare official firmware files for your phone
2. Open Odin and put all the files on it as on this thread but do it only till step 6..
3. Remove battery, sim card, and micro sd from your phone
4. Connect your phone to your computer by USB
5. Press the downloading mode buttons (Volume down + Home + Power)
6. Release home button and insert the battery..but never release the volume down and power button.
7. your phone should be now enter "downloading mode" and you can release volume down and power button.
8. press start on Odin and your phone should be flasing
9. Your phone should be back alive again.

Suppose I do this ^^^^^^ and all goes well
next, if I use kies to upgrade to JellB will I still have root? Or should I upgrade to JB first and then root? I will likely use a custom rom anyway, but Im the kind to wanna go one step at a time and not just jump into someone elses build. Possibly building my own once I see things a little better.
Thanks in advance

thanks for responding to the noob. Update successful now I will try this method.
recarcto the
Super easy, but when I launch titanium backup it says "sorry I could not acquire root privileges"
since the phne was used I tried again thinking it was rooted, but still same message. Oddly super user won't disappear.
IDK if its the CWM_Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2 is the issue or not but I found "Superuser.zip" file from a different sight.
It is trusted as well, so well see if it does the tirck...
IT DID NOT!
superuser still apperas but titanium backup says could not gain root access.
Really strange cuz superuser appeared after both times. and the subsuqnet third...HOw can I make super user go away now? I thought repeat process would unroot but that seems not to be the case.
any advise would be grand.
*****************************************EDIT**********
Just in case for future droid noob like me (bs I can't put links till i have 10 posts)
I figured it out...4 hours later....There is no guide for this and I may be lucky my trial and error's did not brick the device but I was careful.
What I had to do to get the t989uvmc6 root permissions was easy as pie, but it was finding the right components so here they are. Perhaps I should start a new thred.
*First kies to 4.1.2 -----> h
ttp://
ww
w.sam
ung.co
m/u
s/ki
es/
*Second, phone in download mode (phone off hold volume and plug in usb cable) *A note here I did turn on "usb debugging" in developer options, general settings, but I'm,not sure it was mandatory
*Third run oden 307 ----> htt

*fourth, in oden use TWRP Touch Recovery 2.5.0.0 -----> h

Let everything happen. Once all this is done and nothing is happening shut phone off.
*fifth, Whatever mode its called when you hold both volume buttons then press power till feel one vibration and let go power button (keep holding volume buttons)
*sixth, You will get the TWRP screen. touch the reboot option then touch the system optoin (after this it is pretty much duhmmy proof mode)
It will say system is not rooted want to root slide for yes (duhhh)
magic will happen excitement ensues. phone restarts
Last, once the phone starts go to apps and youll see the superuser icon click it (it gives you options READ THEM and more duhhhh mode happens)
it will tell you the magic is not quite done yet.
Go ahead and follow the instructions. (or just install superSU should work too) (must have data or wifi!) There is a diff way here for sure
There are two options I choose the one recommended which was to download it
(it was the option on right of the screen and NOT the "play" icon on the left. I can't remember the name of that choice as im tired right now)
None the lesss it will be in the description given to you, you did read it and skip this, right?
Once you have superSU downloaded some other $%*# happens the phone will reboot it self on last time showing some quick command line (well mine was quick)
then when you get back into the "main" os go apps and you should see a different icon called superSU
you will then be rooted. Find a root app like titanium backup to be sure
So now Ive done all that somone skool me on the easier softer way?
Hope this helps someone cuz it would have helped me!
Now,
To hope the battery lasts more than 4 hr!
Can somebody help me? I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy s2. I had it rooted on 2.3.5 (or 2.3.6 not sure). Now its 4.4.2. I flashed a updated radio and Hellkat-20140105-Hercules and 4.4 gapps. It was successful but I lost root and now gallery and camera does not work any more. I'm stumped. Can somebody direct me to the right path?

[Q] Clear data after broken screen

I broke my screen and then stupidly damaged the LCD while trying to replace the glass. Im trying to sell it now but I need to wipe the data. Since I can't see anything on the screen i need some help with erasing it. I've been looking at the odin guide and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225405 adb and fastboot.. but still unsure

Ya just Odin back to stock. That will erase EVERYTHING. open Odin pull out ur battery. Put it back in. Hold power home and vol down for about 10-15 seconds then press volume up I believe. That will put u in download mode. Plug it in via usb to ur pc. If the box on Odin turns yellow....ur good to go. Select ur pit file. And flash. Good luck

Old thread I realize. But same issue - want to wipe an AT&T Note II on its way to the dustbin without having anything visible on-screen.
My friend stepped on his SGH-I317 (AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II), and has already purchased a Note 5 as a replacement.
Nothing visible on the screen, don't know if touch works, but the phone is alive enough to get everything that matters to him off the MTP (USB) link. Photos, ringtones, music sorta stuff. That's done; only the timestamps are lost.
Phone wasn't rooted and adb was not turned on (the on-screen ADB whitelist thing would probably have prevented using ADB anyway)
=> Without downloading anything at all (e.g. from Sammobile), is it possible to just wipe the data partition using Odin?
Or, alternately:
Would one of you mind booting into your recovery and verifying the button press sequence for a factory reset? I think it is
Off -> Hold Home+VolUp+Power -> wait a little -> 3 VolDown clicks -> 1 Power Click
(possibly followed by 7 VolDown clicks and 1 Power click)
I'm trying the above but I don't see any evidence of the phone coming alive with Home+VolUp+Power after a battery pull based on LED or USB state. (It will boot normally with the Power button)
thanks
[Edit]
Well, Murphy's law. Apparently the phone was stepped upon right on top of the volume rocker switch, so it won't go into Odin Download Mode, nor will it go into the Recovery boot.
Hopefully it is still speaking to the owner's WiFi* - I'll take a laptop over there and if so, we'll give the Android Device Manager a try later on tonight for wiping the device.
* The SIM card size changed between the Note II and Note 5, so no SIM swapping for temporary purposes.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update: How To Root Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 On The Latest OS

The international LTE variant of the Samsung (KRX:005935) Galaxy S4 with the model number GT-I9505 recently received the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware update. Users who have already updated their Galaxy S4 handsets to the new I9505XXUFNA1 build can now root their devices, which will allow them to install custom ROMs whenever they are available.
Android hacker Chainfire has come up with an Auto-Root package complete with a SuperSU fix, which addresses the issues that some users had reported with the leaked KitKat firmware build for the Galaxy S4. Here is how to use the Auto-Root package to gain root access on the Galaxy S4 GT-I9505.
Rooting a device allows users to have complete access to the device’s hardware resources and push the limitations that come with the stock firmware. Users should note that rooting the Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9505 on Android 4.4.2 KitKat XXUFNA1 will void the device’s warranty. But, users can reclaim the warranty by re-installing the official firmware update again.
- The tutorial is only for the Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 (Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-Core CPU with LTE).
- Users are recommended to back-up all data before rooting the device.
- The device should have at least an 80 percent charge left on the battery.
- USB drivers must be installed in the computer with USB Debugging enabled on the device to transfer files between the phone and the PC.
Note: International Business Times cannot be held responsible for anything that goes wrong. Users should proceed at their own risk.
Tutorial
Step 1: Download both CF-Auto-Root Android 4.4.2 Package and ODIN3, and extract the files to the computer.
[go to]:-download.chainfire.eu/316/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.zip
[go to]:-mega.co.nz/#!ZpYwTTKQ!nZJy2vsi6k48GKc_IA78fGpo78k_j0YbFI21NYj6eo8
Step 2: Power off the handset and put it in Download mode by pressing and holding down the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons together. After a warning screen appears, press the Volume Up button to enter Download mode.
Step 3: Run Odin3 v3.09.exe as an Administrator while the phone is Download mode, and connect the Galaxy S4 to the PC via USB cable. If connected successfully, a message showing “Added!!” will appear in Odin’s message box.
Step 4: Now, click on the AP button, and select the CF-Auto-Root file that was extracted in Step 1.
Step 5: In Odin, check the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” options.
Step 6: Click on the Start button in Odin to begin the flashing process.
Step 7: Once the process is complete, the Galaxy S4 will restart and a PASS message with green background will appear in the left-most box at the top of Odin.
You can now unplug the USB cable to disconnect the handset from the PC.
