diffrence between 2 ROMs ? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I'm looking at PAC MAN rom ann the ParanoidKANGdriod, I don't really see a diffrence between the 2. Does one run smoother? is there a better battery life on one, more options on one than the other? I'm new to rooting and android (1st time having one) so this is all new to me. My phone is rooted and i'm currently running PAC MAN rom but i'm going to be on the lookout for diffrent roms and im willing to try anything. Thanks for bearing with me .... an android noob :silly:

Flash it and see
Seriously, it's really all personal preference. The only way to find out what's best for you is to try them.

In my school there was somthing called difference between ; where two objects were put on side by side and analyze features.
It matters what u want how you want.

one has animation manager and other small features (paranoidkangdroid)
the other has 98% of the same features except it is more updated (pacman)

ROMS, ROMS and more ROMS. . .

I use to post and utilize this forum when I had a Vibrant. I love my SII. In fact, I love it so much that, although I bought it the day it came out, I have waited until now to finally root it.
I'm so out of the loop. Are the ICS roms ready to go as daily drivers or should I wait until T-Mo drops theirs? If it's all G2G, then what are your opinions on what's best?
If you feel that Ginger is better as a daily, which is good to jump into?
Keep in mind that I am not looking for super powers and problems. I just want a good daily driver. I like being able to back **** up and use some of the features available to rooted devices, drop bloat, and theme a bit.
I'll run a log of my experiences and try to find issues, if necessary, so that this thread can appropriately stay in this section. If that still is considered a rule breaker, then I politely ask the MODs to move it to the best section.
Thanks in advance.

Whether you run a log of issues or not, the topic has no bearing on development.
I can tell you from experience that the ICS Perfection is a pretty stable build. I have been running it for a week without much of a hicup. Obviously the gingerbread ROMs are more stable then the ICS ones. I used the CM7 build as a daily driver before ICS and lived it. Since I went to ICS, Eugene has started work on fixing some of the bugs on his version of CM7. Best thing to do is test them out and see what one is your style.

Looking for Most Stable ROM

I really am new to the S3 rooting side of things and I'm wanting to flash a custom ROM. I'm looking for something with excellent battery (even over the stock ROMs) and different tweaks for CPU, data, etc. And above all STABLE with very little to no known bugs. Anyone have any suggestions (and links lol)? Thanks.

CM10 is cool but it is not stable enough to use as a daily driver yet. People will say that it is, but in my opinion screen flickers/potential data loss when on LTE (just the most recent bugs I've seen pop up) does not constitute "daily driver".
As far as back here on the Stock based roms Free is really good. I think Blazer's stuff is probably very close but Clark is a bit more on top of his updates. Not that I'm saying Phantom (Blazer) isn't but I'm sure people have lives....
With all the work that Freeza does I wish he had an up to date ROM with all his stuff we could try out, but I guess I'm more happy he's providing awesome mods.

Morning guys.
Just rooted and using omega rom. So far so good, no issues.
Was considering updating my stock kernel, was after some advice on which one? As a new user.

We're lucky because all the custom kernels are really good for Note 2.
Personally I usually use either Perseus or RedPill, but Note2Core and NEAK are great too.
Best thing to do it back-up in recovery, download each kernel, and then use each one for a few days to see which one works best for you :good:

I'm presuming (being new) I'd nandriod back up prior, and flash in the usual way?
Do the kernels have to be build number specific? Or do most generic versions work?

Yeah, Nandroid back-up via recovery first, then just flash like any other zip.
You do need to flash the kernel that corresponds to your phone model, yes. So if you have N7100 only flash N7100 kernels. If you have N7105 then only flash N7105 kernels. Should be obvious which is which in each thread though.

You can use them just how they come if you like, no harm in doing that.
If you've got some time to test the best settings for your cpu, you can play around with undervolting to CPU for slightly more battery savings, though I can't say whether or not you'll actually notice these savings in day to day use.

I used to dabble with this but I think it's now got to the point where the kernel devs do such a good job anyway that I don't feel the need to tinker anymore. For example, I get over 2.5 days from a single charge using Perseus, that's with light/moderate use and WiFi / mobile data always on.

Custom Stock ROM

Hey I was looking to see if there's a stock themed rom with all the stock features but custom modifications to make it have much better performance? Like with an even higher benchmark than real stock. I've found one but it had horrible performance on my phone... Not just benchmark related performance.. But anyone know a really good one? I used Wicked Sensation previously. The battery life is excellent and it's fairly fast although I never did an actual benchmark test. I had the anaconda theme on top of it and I thought it looked nice. I prefer minimal themeing but if you don't like any of the blue ones I would go with this.

I think I will, at least to compare. Morphology works on both ROMs, so that's cool. I think so many of these threads get shut down, and it's a shame. For me, I'd like to see some comparisons of the different ROMs. Pros/Cons, maybe a poll on what ROM reigns supreme at this point in time, etc.
I realized FreeGS3 has, by far, the most activity in the thread. However, it's been open since July. People's doesn't have that many but it's only been opened since November. It makes it challenging when trying to actually compare and see which ROMs are actually the most popular overall.

Thanks. I hope so. Just trying to figure out the ROMs for the S3 and then will go from there. Just loaded people's. I don't like the stock theme, but I'm going to play with it for a few before going back to FreeGS3 or something else.

Most stable ROM for long term?

I have CR ATT SE 3.0 and it really has quite a few annoying issues. I'd like to switch ROMs. I don't care if it's AOSP or modified stock ROM. I just want it to be relatively bug free and good for at least a couple months without having to do another big ROM switch.
Also if it's AOSP someone will have to bring me up to speed on how to get over to it from stock 4.1.2. I don't think it's just a simple wipe and flash.

If you're on Clean Rom then you might want to stick to a TW based Rom. You can just move to the most recent Clean Romthat's out..
That way you shouldn't run into any issues with it.
But there are also a lot of good AOSP Rom out there if you really have to install one. Just check the one stop shop for your Rom needs!!
Edit: just noticed the title of your thread. I'm using Skynote which is great for long term use.. haven't flashed anything else since

I don't think the one stop shop has been updated in months. If it has, whoever is editing it is doing a bad job.

FYI, it's me that's doing the updating. And it's time consuming and I do have a life, family, work, outside of XDA!!
THANX for the compliment, since I was just trying to help out.. WOW
And there's always Google SEARCH TO find most things your looking for.. type in what your looking for, hit enter button done!!

Well it's not like I'm just trying to be a ****... but it doesn't really have a lot of info on it. You have some really old ROMs still on there and some relatively new ROMs not on there.
Someone is trying to help you on a thread that will be closed anyway and your getting mad? Read the different threads of roms that interest you, or at least the last couple of pages to see what issues people are having. What you may think is a bug, someone else may never have a problem. And it's not difficult to try a rom and see if you like it. Hope this helps before the thread is closed.

If you'd quit stuffing your fat face with bacon and Heinekeins, you would have more time to take care of un-appriciative people on XDA...

Yeah right out the box is best. But you know if they're on XDA. Then they don't want stock:sly:
