I'm coming from cm10 and I'm going to flash zedomaxs high on android rom and I read I needed a stock modem to go along with it since it's basically a stock rom and there's so many which do I chose since coming from cm10??? Any help appreciated

Actually its not the modem. Those should work with any of the roms here. You are thinking of the kernel I believe. Theres only a few to choose from and it boils down to preference.
If you are going to the UVALH2 update or later, you will need a purely stock kernel. Custom ones aren't working yet.

Umm... how? I don't think it's possible. Apparently you know a way but don't want to share? Also, iv wouldn't count on EVER getting good speeds in your basement. The bands TMo uses aren't meant for it.
I don't think you can
Of course you can flash radios. Why wouldn't you be able to?
Assuming, of course, you know what you're doing..
As long as you have a T999 model, you can flash any of the radios released in the dev section. Any radio on any rom. some work better than others but everyone has a different best one. Its up to you to test them all for yourself.

ddont know if this applies... but i used to flash radios, through my galaxy S (first generation), usually through odin, or a zip file and cwm... not sure how it would work for the gs3, but pretty sure itd still apply, if any method is best, probably through cwm as that shouldn't (in theory) affect your flash counter
Correct, though I personally recommend twrp. Just read the ops for any of the many released modems in dev section for more info.

oops. just reread the op. thought he wasn't rooted. nevermind.
Ok now that I'm confident in my ability to flash ROMS and Kernels in the new Linux 3.0 & 3.4 versions that came with JB, is there anyone who could help me out with finding modems and flashing them and what each modem is for and etc? I really don't understand the new system as i came over from the OG EVO and from what i understand thus far, its not exactly the same as flashing radios as it was with GB or ICS. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tried looking through stickies but couldnt find anything.

This thread will guide you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38172219
Posts #1 through #5 where you will find links to modems. LJ7 and MD4 seem to work best. But these devices are not like HTC devices so don't put that much concern into it.

Ok thanks for the help. About updating the PRL on AOSP roms though.... I downloaded the script and ran the scripts using script manager exactly as the guide said to do so, but i cant enter diagnostics mode. Any idea why?

Won't really work on the S3... Best and easiest thing to do is make a nandroid then flash tw rom update prl and profile and then restore nandroid
Sent from the future via Tapatalk 4
Ok, was just curious about that. I know about the nandroid backup and all. Its basically the same as it was with the old aosp/sense system. But thanks a lot for your help. And hopefully I'll see an improvement in my signal strength and quality. Do you have any other tips that could help?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Nope other than stick to TW roms, signal strength will be better and lte, 3g exchange is much better.
Sent from the future via Tapatalk 4
Yea well it wouldnt make too much of a difference with 3G and LTE considering I'm in an area that doesnt have LTE coverage yet. And just curious here, but the synergy port from verizon IS considered a TW rom right?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
yeah no lte it makes no difference. I don't know about synergy but just look in the OP it's either TW, AOSP or AOKP. If you don't have to flash gapps it's TW.

All AOSP are 3.4 kernel's now. CM needs MD4 to flash. It's in freeza's thread

Since the update to the 3.4.x kernel the scripts don't work anymore. Flash a TW ROM and follow those instructions
First off I own a Metro t999N
Its GSM and uses lte data from T-Mobile towers... we all know that
We all know that they use tmo Lte towers and this device is a lte model.. that's clear.
Everyone flashes T-Mobile roms on the metro s3 and Metro s4 with no issues .... but I know with past experience owning a t999L you had to stick to the Lte model Roms the t999 roms wont flash on a lte device.
There wasn't any info I could find about my t999n as to if we use t999 or t999L based roms on the New metro GSM Lte s3
I'm assuming it would be the t999l roms and generally I don't ask such a basic question...but I couldn't find a straight Google answer
But I know from past better safe to ask.

There are no T999 l/n/v ROMs. It's all T999. You guys just have separate firmware (bootloader, baseband, etc). That firmware is in the linked thread.
If the ROMs aren't flashing for you, it's probably because you're using TWRP for the T999 l/n/v, or whatever is out there. You need to use the original T999 recoveries to flash T999 ROMs.
Does that answer your questions?
Yup, it's all stated in the thread. I believe the recovery to use is covered in the faq, as well as anything else to look out for. You did read all OP's in their entirety, didn't you?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
Just got this T999L the other day, now using the 999N modem and have flashed several ROMs with no problem. So I'm sure you'll be able to do the same.

I was just unclear and yes I've read a lot, haven't flashed one t999 rom yet on my t999N
But guess now ill try I am using the cwm recovery flashed from rom manager for the original t999 for metro, as that's the only available in rom manager seems to work since I made a nandroid with it
Sent from my SGH-T999L using xda app-developers app
Don't install recovery using Rom or goo manager. Sure it'll work on your device, but many of the roms here are coded to check the device and/or recovery. Since none of the devs knew to add yours, most didn't, so even though the Rom would work, it won't flash unless you have the d2tmo recovery.
If you have further questions about it, may I suggest asking in that thread? That way others who might search for similar info can find everything in one place.

I think I'm pretty certain about this

Is it also necessary to flash the mb7 lte kernel+modules zip in your links on top of a or any t999 roms in order to get Lte data on my t999n

If you are stuck on Edge, then check your imei. Don't post it, just tell me if it's zero.
Depending on the Rom, it's not going to always display what you expect. This should also be covered in the faq, Ali g with how to tell your true connection

Edit: only issue across the borad is that theres no wifi calling. But nfc, data, mms, calls and text working. Incase people wanted to know but not willing to risk their phone being brocked, I've now successfully flashed a couple custom roms for every carrier including international roms. I installed rom, then tmobile csc files to get data and what not working and a tmobile based kernel. I'm currently using an aosp themed rom in the sprint forum, been using all day and no issues. Milage may vary, but I didn't want to point out its possible to flash all note 3 roms. Cheers

Good topic. I was watching a YouTube vid about flashing the international LTE type roms and it seemed to work fine just as long as you used compulsion kernel and some kinda wifi/Bluetooth/NFC flashable fix. I had a note 3 a while back and I'm getting a new one on Monday (super excited) so I'm really curious about this cuz I'd really like to have some more rom options. Is your mms working too?

Mms, data, tethering, wifi everything works. What I did learn though is that it's best to start from stock tmobile rom in our dev section then once that's all booted up go to recovery and flash the rom you want without wiping data then cc files and tmo kernel. A few roms wouldn't get data unless I placed a call 1st after rebooting.

Download Darthstalker ROM and pull the CSC folder from /system/csc/ then put it in the INT ROM of your choice. I do it this way since the CSC_TMO from miscom causes PHONE app to FC when trying to make a call. I use WINRAR to open and repack ROM files.

I have flashed virtually every 9005 rom out there - and as long as you flash the Blue tooth Wifi Fix file mentioned earlier (from the stainless rom post) everything works beautfiully well.
I also use a variety of kernels - Compulsion - saber - and a few others work fine.
I had also flashed several Verizon ROMS - Hyper Drive is awesome -
BUT, I have never needed to flash the CSC files - Flash Rom - flash Wifi Fix - Flash Kernel - reboot - all is good.
Just thought I would share..

That isn't true of custom roms.
The reason why I change CSC files is because some roms prevent you from editting the APN protocol so you can change IP4 to IP6. It's all user preference really and depends on the ROM you're using.
